Le Clos Saint Saourde, Beaumes de Venise, Provence, France - Explore & Book

"The pool at Saint Saourde looks out over the vineyards of Beaumes de Venise, home to one of France’s most delicious sweet wines, a true nectar of the gods. It’s a fabulous position, reason enough to check into this peaceful retreat, but there is more than that to keep you happy. First, there’s the house itself, rescued from neglect, now shining proudly amid the vineyards. Second, are 5 seriously cool rooms, all of which are built into the side of a rock face, making them candidates for ‘most luxurious cave dwelling ever.’ Finally, there's a secluded cottage with private pool.As for what lies beyond, this micro-area of vineyards, mountains and hillside villages is every bit as lovely as the house. You can potter off to nearby caves and taste local wines, lose yourself on country roads and end up in beautiful villages, head down to Avignon and plunge into its pot of culture, perhaps drive (or cycle) up magnificent Mont Ventoux, one of the great climbs of the Tour de France. If that all sounds a little tiring, then bake by the pool all day. You can make your own lunch, pour your own drinks; there’s a kitchen on the terrace for exactly that purpose. Highs Five magical bedrooms built into the rock face – pure Flintstone chicThe guests’ kitchen on the pool terrace, which means you can make light lunches, chill drinks and lounge by the pool all dayThe immediate area – Les Dentelles de Montmirail, vineyards, hilltop villages and Mont Ventoux all on your doorstepDon’t miss the sublime Muscat wine from the fields around you (book through i-escape and you'll find a bottle in your room, with compliments) Lows The bedrooms in the Grange (the self-catering cottage) are, by comparison, small and simple. It can sleep 10, but would be claustrophobic with more than 8This is a peaceful retreat - if you want buzzy nightlife, it's a 25-minute drive to AvignonWe used to hear reports that the WiFi was patchy, but the hotel assure us this has now been improved" - Tom Bell

Le Clos Saint Saourde | Best places to stay in Provence

"This stunning 18th-century farm, immersed in nature 4km east of the wine town of Beaumes-de-Venise, is one of Provence’s most unusual and attractive guesthouses. Here wooden beams and living rock walls meet antiques and high-tech contemporary styling in a unique but successful marriage. Serene and tranquil, with a lovely outdoor pool on the terrace, it’s a perfect choice for wine lovers, or couples or families wanting to relax in a beautiful rural setting. " - Dana Facaros

The place is a true slice of paradise, simply understated elegance . The attention to detail from the owners was fantastic. They were also helpful in making recommendations of special places in the area and DELICIOUS dining suggestions. The warmth and inclusiveness we shared with the owners and the other guests will be remembered forever as we exchanged contact info with a lovely couple from Belgium. |Quite a special place , as good as it gets!

I think we found paradise! We had a very warm welcome by our hosts Véronique and Patrick and had the pleasure to stay in the family suite with our two teenage daughters. The estate is stunningly beautiful and ideally located in the heart of the Vaucluse region. Breakfast was served at the outside terrace with a view on les Dentelles the Montmirail and the Beaume de Venise vineyards. The well equiped outdoor kitchen is available for guests all day long; very handy! Beautiful pool and luxurious room, decorated with an eye for detail. Véronique and Patrick provided us with very useful tips on restaurants and things to see and do in the surroundings. Highly recommended. Will definitely come back!

Le Clos Saint Saourde is a heavenly spot with magnificent facilities and the perfect hosts. We had a perfect stay and were brilliantly looked after by Patrick and Veronique. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated, the pool area was delightful and the breakfast (with daily homemade treats) was delicious. It was a great base from which to explore this pictoresque region of France, though it was difficult to go out when staying in was so tempting. We were very sad to leave and will definitely return!

Beautiful place with very friendly owners. We had a wonderful time there in December - the nice spa with a splendid view was a welcome treat after a hike and jog. You need to have a car or bike, as the place is outside of the city center. We plan to come back as we like the region and we felt at home at this place.

Our family of 5 (3 children) stayed at this beautifuly converted house in the country side. The hosts were very warm and extremely attentive. The place is very well taken care of and has everything you need to be comfortable and relax. The room was very spacious, with great touches and lots of comfort. The pool area is sublime and a perfect place to spend the afternoon or wrap up the day. We didn't have a chance to use the spa area because of the kids but it has given us a reason to come back without the kids. :) This is a great place to base yourself out of and we can't recommend it enough!

Can not say enough great things about this place. Simply beautiful in a very special way and unique. The rooms are all different. We stayed one night in the Castillion and the next two in the Zelle. The Zelle was more fitting for 2. The breakfasts were delicious too! Our hosts were so helpful too in arranging dinners and guiding us where to go as we rented a car and drove throughout the Rhone region. When there at the B&B as we called it we enjoyed the pool and playing bocce ball(Pentanque). If we return to the Rhone valley we will without a doubt stay here again. We highly recommend this fabulous place!

Already for the 2nd time we came to this wonderfully located quiet accommodation and enjoyed everything again: the wonderful luxury room (Beaulieu with its rocky corner), the pool, the kitchen and the newly opened private SPA (with completely open glass front and view of the vineyards). Very friendly were also our hosts, helpful (where do you get a list of recommendations for good restaurants in the area a few days before check-in?) and with such a great breakfast (on request a sensational omelette with truffle salt !).

My wife and I stayed at Le Clos Saint Saourde for a part of our honeymoon while visiting France. Our only regret was we didn't book more nights! The property and room were absolutely beautiful, and Katy, Patrick and the entire team could not have been more friendly and helpful. Whether it was breakfast, or suggestions for things to do in the area, Idalgo running around or the nice little details we constantly discovered. Le Clos Saint Saourde was a highlight of our entire trip and we hope one day to be back.

Yelp
This is a wonderful place to stay. If you're looking for that perfect Provence country house, but also something that's super stylish, this is the place that you'll want to pick. However, the two best things about this place aren't what you see on the web site at all. They are: (1) the pool, which is absolutely essential for twice-daily swims given the 100-degree weather in the middle of the summer, and (2) the hosts, who serve you a wonderful breakfast every day, and give you an itinerary of what to do every day -- mostly visiting small towns, tasting wine, and going out for excellent meals. In fact, you don't really need to plan your trip to Provence. You can basically just book your tickets, rental car, and a week at Le Clos and you're all set.
