Montreal’s Best LGBTQ Bars and Hangouts | Eater Montreal

"Just a reliable ol’ gay bar at the east end of the Village, spread across two levels, with plenty of red lights, moderately-priced drinks, and drag shows on a regular basis." - Tim Forster

We arrived a bit early and wanted to sit close to the stage but the chairs were all over the place so we took a couple of chairs and sat down . Stevie the barman came over and told me to never move the chairs and to ask a waiter if I wanted to move a chair. That set the mood for the night and I don"t think my partner and I will ever go back and I had to keep going to the bar to get drinks. What a downer. Michel Dorion was fabulous as usual.

The drag show was so fun and invigorating - thank you for giving me joy and energy via your creative sets!

if you're looking for a drag show at an affordable price, this is the place to go! staff were friendly and drinks were huge for a great price. they always have different shows so check their website beforehand for tickets. i believe Mondays are also free (for new drag performers). try to get there when doors open because seats fill up quick. most seats are taken already due to bachelor/birthday/party reservations so there aren't a lot of good seats if you're late. note they aren't super English friendly as most of the show was in French so if you're visiting and only know English, keep that in mind!

What a fun stop on our Village Experience. The venue is so charming and the Drag Queens were great. The cover charge is super cheap given the entertainment. A must stop on any bar crawl through Montreal’s Gay Village.

The bartender upstairs didn’t even care to look at me even though I arrived before couple of others that came later but were served before me. It wasn’t even that busy. What a great way to start a Thursday night

The best shows are held here. Great cocktails. The staff is very polite and friendly. It often hosts interesting events. If you sign up for 909gay,com and create a profile, you can get a free private room for 2 hours and a free cocktail of your choice.

Amazing staff, good drinks, and great vibes. Definitely gives you a good taste of the village, and all it’s inclusivity. The shows are amazing, monday nights are free shows (with tips strongly recommended) solely focussed on up and coming drag queens (and kings!), and I recommend checking them out to support local drag! Overall an amazing place, with friendly staff and a good clientele!

Such a fun experience! Absolutely love the drag shows and the karaoke after the shows. Love the whole upstairs and downstairs vibe but during the shows it does get packed so try to get there early enough to get a seat and a view. Be carful of the bar upstairs! The table top had a bit of a slope which I didn’t see so dont out your drink close to the edge or it would fall. We just came in ordered drinks paid and gave tip. I put my drink close to the edge to take off my coat, and it slipped done. I literally had two sips of my drink and had to pay for another one … so just a heads up. Other than that, it was super fun

Yelp
Been there last Saturday night and omg was my first time going inside and I'm definitely not disappointed . The atmosphere was simply epic great care cocktails and not too expensive 8.50$ each the music was a banger and representative of the LGBTQ+ community as this bar is for Also barman were really sweet and a little extra as they were also pretty cute

Yelp
Ok I've only been once but I already love this bar. Easy walk from the metro along a part of St Catherines that is seeing some new fun life with restaurants and bars and clubs all bumping at 5pm on a Friday. The bar is dark but not seedy, there's a low stage, big screen and second level mezzanine that looks down on the action below. The layout is great for visibility - lots of low tables around the stage, high tops in the back, plus the mezzanine. And the waiters are amazingly fast and efficient, they move through even a thick crowd smoothly delivering fresh drinks before you can blink. Fridays they show RuPaul's Drag Race to a cheering passionate crowd and the vibe is delicious, can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Le Cocktail is emerging after decades of monopoly by Mado's. Don't get me wrong, I have been a Mado devotee for a looong time, but it's good to have some innovation, especially as Mado herself seems to want to branch out of drag. Le Cocktail is small but glamorous, with a massive chandelier hanging down its high ceiling and a lot of fuschia lighting. If you want to check out the show, the seats are very nearly on the stage - tip your performer! But I know you are here from Drag Race HoNEEyY!! Arrive early, because seats are a hot commodity. Couldn't make it? Head on up to the top floor and stand up around the bar. The staff was lovely, the drinks were a fair price, but a tad light or small...maybe? There are a lot of screens to follow to action to, and they are all subtitled - reading is fundamental, because the place is LOUD. I couldn't make out the emceeing going on during the ads, but as soon as the credits roll, one of Montreal's finest is putting on a show! If you know your local queens, Le Cocktail is where you will find Miss Butterfly nearly every day, and it seem local legend Michel Dorion calls it her home base as well. Go check out the local talent!

Yelp
Cocktails are good, although some of them seem overpriced. Most of the servers are nice but I've had a bad experience with one who was so rude, had no manners and talked to me very disrespectfully from the get go, and that's just unacceptable. They also blow up the speakers, I like loud music but that's just like a headache guaranteed.

Yelp
Friday nights is the place to be for an all-woman lesbian cocktail hour that starts around 5pm and ends in the wee hours of the night! This bar is typically a gay-guy-drag-queen bar... except Friday nights when the place fills up exclusively with hot women! The all-girl bartender team is awsome, the dj is ripping, the drinks are dirt cheap... Montreal finally has an all-woman bar for gay women to go to and hang out and meet some interesting ladies This is Montreal best kept lesbian secret! Unlike the Drugstore that markets itself as the only real lesbian bar in Montréal, the Cocktail is an-free on Friday nights...
