"This former butcher's shop in the "Little Venice" neighbourhood has been transformed into an appealing brasserie with the feel of a modern winstub and a buzzing atmosphere. The menu features carefully prepared Alsace specialities and, in a nod to its past, some choice cuts of meat. On sunny days, diners make a beeline for the terrace on the banks of the River Lauch." - Michelin Inspector

Amazing location if you get outdoor seating on the little river. I tried the breaded chicken sandwich and substituted vegetables for potatoes. Tried to make it slightly healthy. The bun was bright read and breading on chicken pretty tasty. Very friendly service and central location. It was easy to get a seat in the weekend.

Sadly, the weather was too cold, because I would have loved to have sat on their terrace. The atmosphere inside I found slightly lacking, but the food was good, especially the meats that came with the choucroute. The menu offers good choices.

We arrived without a reservation and they gave us a table after about 5 minutes. We ordered a fois gras starter that was delicious! The main dishes were also very tasty and above all well served!! They didn't have many dessert options, and I ordered something similar to an apple pie that was delicious. I recommend going!! The only thing I didn't like was that the waiters took a long time to serve you and the proximity between all the tables.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon this place seemed like a good spot for an afternoon lunch. Seated upstairs with a view of the square ( too cool and wet to use the waterside patio) felt right. Things went downhill from there. Going over the menu there were 5 entrees that looked interesting and between 4 of us we could then share 2 mains. Not so fast, the young waiter explained, there would be a €7 surcharge per person on the entrees. “ this is a restaurant not a bistro” he explained wearing his black tee shirt with the restaurant name printed across the back. In fairness there was a red notice on the menu about the surcharge atop the entree section, translated to English it made no sense. So scratch the entrees, mains all around. Chicken and veal in puff pastry was fine, braised beef was tender enough although the various shredded vegetables were very bistro-like. Beef carpaccio was 10 see-through slightly salty slices. Then came the veal cordon blu, more like cordon noir. A rolled up charred lump. It was not revenge of the kitchen 2 identical lumps arrived at an adjoining table . Over done as it was the crust was acrid ( not the tasty golden brown normally found ) and left a bitter after taste. The spetzel that came with it was room temperature, dry and chewy…maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be served. At least the bread was fresh and tasty, but requested butter came with a supplementary charge. You will only leave this place feeling disappointed. Try somewhere else, there are plenty to choose from in COLMAR.

Situated next to the picturesque landmark of Le Petite Venise, this restaurant offers a pleasant seating area by the canal. We ordered salad, beef rib-eye steak, French pork chop, crème brûlée, and lava cake, all of which were delicious. The service was exceptional. This place is perfect for meat lovers; there are limited options for vegetarians.

We had an excellent time at this restaurant. We preferred to eat indoors and were given a corner table between 2 windows. The staff were efficient and helpful and we had a leisurely meal. Food and wine was good and reasonably priced. Had a grear time.

We just ate main courses. Entrecote Steak and Chicken with Cream Sauce and Puff Pastry. Both were beautifully cooked and very tasty. We were on the charming canal-side terrace which had lovely views of the pretty medieval buildings and bridge. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, happy and charming. A wonderful experience!

Yelp
Don't recommend coming here if you have a choice. We did not because all of the other restaurants in the area were booked up. The food here isn't bad but you pay a pretty hefty price for it. That being said, we are grateful we were able to find a place to eat. Service is super slow (some grace should be given because I think time moves a little slower here). This was partly our fault but we didn't realize we ordered fake escargot. We got a dish with some tough beef and bland sauce. The restaurant interior reminds me of a lodge.

Yelp
Our hotel recommended this Alsacian restaurant (amongst many others) and we chose it because of its location along Little Venise. Pros: - LOCATION! Such a scenic spot along the canal. Our hotel called at 6pm to help us make an outdoor reservation for 7pm. We saw everyone who tried to walk in for an outdoor table get turned away - the "gourmet coffee" dessert was actually a sampler of mini desserts and was quite tasty! Cons: - I usually don't care about service but service was really, really slow. A simple dinner lasted over 3 hours. I thought for sure I'd have time to explore more before sunset but the meal was so prolonged, we missed this completely. Neutral: - the food was fine... the pork ribs were fatty and the spatzle bland (but eat it with the sauce)

Yelp
Do NOT go here! Worst customer service ever!!!!! Harassment and rudeness! My mom and I tried to share a lunch here this week. She ordered a full plate and i ordered a beer and large dessert. They said not allowed and that we each had to order an appetizer and a plate. It did not say this on the menu, but we said we would leave if that was the case to enjoy a shared meal elsewhere. Note that there was only one other table filled in the whole restaurant, so it wasn't like they needed the table. Around this time, they brought my beer and said I would need to pay for it, even though we couldn't sit at table and I hadn't touched it. I refused because they were so rude and I didn't get to drink it. They tried to block us in the restaurant forcefully with two men, a very large and angry one grabbing my mom by the shoulders saying he was calling the police as I was trying to get outside. We told him to go ahead, we were the ones refused service and being assaulted and were leaving as they asked. My mom had to yell three times to tell him to take his hands off of her! Only when people on the street started staring at my mom yelling did he finally let go! Insanity!!! Worst of the worst! If I weren't a foreign tourist on a tight schedule, I would have filed a police report myself.

Yelp
I reserved here as upon walking by the night before it was paced with no space for even 2 people. The reviews were good and it was within walking distance of my hotel. We were taken to a table on the water so I felt like I already lucked out with a great seat, great view and I chose something that sounded delicious. Veal served with spaetzle on the side with a mushroom cream sauce. What I got looked beautiful, the taste, eh. Spaetzle was blah, sauce was OK and the meat, like leather. Very disappointing. I wont go back for sure. Servers were very nice and service was good. Pinot noir, fantastic, local.

Yelp
As all 3 restaurants I had shortlisted for dinner were fully booked we randomly chose this place close to Little Venice. The main course of veal cutlet with Spatzles was nicely cooked, above average. My friend chose a local speciality consisting of Calf's head, I declined to try any but was informed that the dish was bland. We skipped dessert as the dishes did not sound tempting. Service was efficient.

Yelp
Probably my favorite restaurant while visiting Colmar. The drinks were nice, the food (I had a pig knuckle) was fresh and delicious. And if you make a reservation, you could sit out on their terrace overlooking the river. Very quaint and pretty. Even the teenagers liked their food and that's saying a lot given our fast food generation.

Yelp
Recommended to us by a local friend who says they have amazing meats, my husband and I went. The first time my husband and I tried going here were "ferme" but we went back later that night when they were open for dinner. Colmar in general is not serving any type of food between 2-7pm. Accept this and be happy. For 42euros we enjoyed a shared a dinner of prime rib, sautéed vegetables, and great fries. The plover and champignon sauces the steak was served with perfectly accented the delicious steak. I went safe and ordered it medium even though we like steak medium rare and it was still super tender and juicy. If we ever go back again, we'll order it medium rare. The view of the canal at night from the terrace was magical and luck For us, bug and smoke free. I love that coffee and tea come with mini cones of chantille cream and yummy cookies. The tarte au jour was huge and delicious- boisonberry pie topped with a generous meringue and three huge dollops of homemade whipped cream on the side. Best dessert of our trip. The staff was friendly, attentive, and let us speak French. The dinner was epic!

Yelp
Don't mind the low reviews. It can be tough to find a place open if your trying to eat at a time other than 10-14hr or 19-22hr. But to rate a great brasserie based on that is idiotic. Once you get used to the towns meal hours, you can better time your stay to avoid the infamous "Ferme!" my wife and I received during our first day looking for food. My wife and I shared the prime rib dinner special on the terrace. The prime rib was perfectly cooked, along with the sauce and vegetable pairing it was by far the best meal we had in Colmar. We recommend trying to eat on the terrace next to the canal for dinner. Very pretty, as long as your ok with a few tourists taking pictures near you on the bridge by le petite venice. We had a dessert tarte which was fantastic as well. Their meats are fantastic here!

Yelp
Easily the most tasty and most affordable brasserie I found in Colmar (10-18€ for most dishes) - their strengths are simple and traditional Alsatian dishes....comfort food at its best. Went there twice - great staff, good local wines, nice terrasse right on the little river.

Yelp
In our travels over the past two weeks, my husband and I have come to expect subpar service but this was just too horrible to ignore. We just stopped in wanting a light breakfast to begin our day of Christmas market shopping. After sitting there for twenty minutes and almost leaving--there was NO ONE ELSE THERE--the server finally came up and asked us what we wanted. No niceties, no apologies. We finished our croissants and coffee and waited, and waited for the server to reappear. Finally had to go find her ourselves to pay.

Yelp
We've been here several times. It is a good place for a simple meal, a good value and consistency in their meals and service. The waitpersons have been pleasant and helpful. It's a great place for a last minute lunch or dinner especially during the holiday season amidst the Christmas markets.
