"One of Guadeloupe’s top rhum distilleries is set on beautiful former sugar cane plantation grounds in Basse-Terre. There’s a trolley tour through the grounds that also provides information about Guadeloupe’s rhum and history. Take a walk through the Domaine de Séverin grounds afterwards and see the sugar cane processing if you are there during the February to June harvest season. A half-hour of free tastings of the multiple flavored rhums is, of course, a high point. Shop in the store for your favorites before you leave."

The tour is about an hour and if you speak French, I’m sure it was good. The little diesel car train, not a real rail train, was pretty however the time spent showing the actual sugar to rum process was minimal. We were provided with a booklet in English to follow along during the tour however the driver went in the opposite direction of the tour book which took some time to figure out since we did not understand what was being said. After the tour the rum tasting is significant, please have the driver not taste too many runs as it seems they will let you sample all of them! They have a handicap restroom however there is a step before entering the restroom. I was on crutches so they did provide a chair to sit and taste the rum. Otherwise be prepared to stand while tasting the rum in the gift shop.

Beautiful place. It was one of the location for Death in Paradise and is every bit as good as it looks on TV. The tour is excellent, but only in French, they do provide a booklet in English which you can follow the majority of the spoken tour. The tasting at the end of the tour is great, have to be very careful if you are driving.

Very nice introduction with the train during the visit of the domain. The rum tasting was great and everyone was expecting this since the beginning of the tour :) The jam tastes so good with a full flavour very aromatic. The visit overall was nice, didn't get bored.

The train ride is rather dull, but the people working a the Domaine are superbly nice and will offer you plenty of decent rum afterwords during the rum tasting. Make sure to have one designated driver.

Disappointed! The destillery does not exist anymore (since feb 2019). That was not written anywhere and we went here in hopes of seeing how they make rhum, but we didn't. They have lowered the price from 11€ to 9€ due to this but it ain't worth coming here to be honest. For this price all you get is a 20min walk in a garden (non-guided), a few rhums to try and a VERY DULL "train ride" in the end (maybe fun for kids below 8 yrs?). There were still Rhum available for sale though. Maybe it was once worth coming here but since the destillery is gone I do not recommend this place, sadly.

The"train" tour was overpriced. It is much better to go walk around following the map and trail markers. Everyone was present and the tastings were good.

The distrillery has been closed down and its equipment destroyed. They still offer tours to show the beautiful area and give a little history lecture.

Very nice authentic place! We had a guide with a lot of Rhum historics and nice tasting. Learned a lot and will drink Rhum agriculture with respect in the future
