"Despite being in the heart of the Left Bank, you would be forgiven for thinking you were in the cabin of a yacht packed with seafaring acolytes… The chef works with first-rate fish and seafood and is a consummate craftsman: tartare of langoustine with black lemon, sole meunière, lobster sautéed with orange, grilled John Dory… All aboard!" - Michelin Inspector

Fancy-ish seafood … it’s right by the Montparnasse cemetery which sounds weird but you can go and see the graves of Simone de Beauvoir, Jane Birkin, etc

So all my stars go for the team that found the table last minute, not by the bar. But…it is actually just a bistro with a full restaurant price. Because, first of all, the dishes have no creativity in them. Secondly, the service is just in taking your order and delivering it sooner or later to the table. You need to catch them. Advice to the guests: do not take the green salad. It is very cheap simple leaves and….that’s it. I had to ask for a vinegar or smth, as it is like literally just leaves… Like the ones you get half kilo in a simple grocery next to you. They did wash it. I’d go for the raws and the mains. We really thought it will be like Langosteria in Milan but even they add some personal touch to the dish. The monkfish Provençal was chewy.

We found this spot by accident. Didn’t have any reservations but they were kind enough to let us in at 8.30pm. We had the langusitine- absolutely perfect , well cooked and not over cooked. We met another lovely couple and conversations were good. The waiter was fabulous , we even took a picture with him afterwards. I highly recommend

Great traditional high end seafood. For our meal, I think they forgot our main courses (no apologies either) until we reminded them, so it took a while longer and ended up being a 2.5 hour dinner. Otherwise service was very friendly and good.

This was probably the best meal I ever recall enjoying. This is French culinary arts at its finest. The food is primarily seafood. Here are my recommendations: For appetizers: langoustine with wasabi. calamari with garlic. sea bass with garlic toast. shrimp with shisho and uni cream. crab salad. For entrees: gougenette de sole. john dory with vodka butter. sole meunière. langoustine with ginger. lobster with orange sauce. saffron and langoustine with tagliatelle. I had the sea bass with garlic toast. Very light but primed the palate. I followed with Sole meunière. My wife Amy enjoyed the langostine tartare with Iranian loomi and followed with the lobster in orange butter sauce. Photos of the mains are attached. Desert was mixed fruit and cappuccino. Service was impeccable. Not inexpensive but well worth the cost of the meal. If I were visiting Paris, I would suggest booking this restaurant ahead of time. You do not want to visit Paris without dining here at least once!

Fancy place for fancy people, many International and English-speaking. Beautiful, charming and sophisticated room, intimate and special, with an enticing menu of fish and seafood. Unfortunately, the dishes themselves were quite bland and unremarkable - notably under-seasoned and without any zip, contrast or distinction. It’s tepid, which may suit this crowd’s palette and deliver “quality”-sourced items in an inoffensive and very safe way. The fried calamari was good. It’s a pity, the room has great charm (and especially the bathroom downstairs, be sure to descend the staircase), and there’s a vibe of comfort and upscale casual elegance but the cuisine needs a shot of Adrenalin, but maybe not for grandma taking her daughter to a grown up dinner. Welcome and service were initially warm and helpful but then our waiter disappeared and we had to ask for our check 3 times and wait over 25 minutes and were only able to settle our bill by leaving our table and standing by the entrance for yet another other 10 minutes. We seriously considered simply leaving, which we’ve never done in our long lives of eating in high and low restaurants around the world. Inexcusable and not even a cursory apology was offered. I suppose they’ll carry on successfully with their selected clientele and travelers who have been told a visit is all that but don’t come here for the food or genuine care.

Unfortunately, the date we went the lunch menu just wasn’t up to expectation, especially with the price tag and the reputation It comes with. The coffee and tea machine was also so broken, so I didn’t know how to finish my dessert without my coffee.

Google
The surprise “not so surprising” of our trip. I read and heard a lot of good things about Le Duc, but we weren’t expecting it to be that good. Being big seafood lovers we are always looking out for the best spots and this is definitely among them. From the moment we walked in we were treated extremely well. The clams with wasabi and the langoustine tartar were out of this world. The sole blew my mind, about perfection, all paired with some great champagne. We even got our Michelin guide signed by the owner, you guys rock! We will come back over and over again

Yelp
Easily the second best meal of my life. The first was also in Paris, but on an earlier trip. I made reservations a few months in advance. I definitely suggest making reservations - actually, I recommend that for most anywhere you are considering in Paris. I wore dress pants, a short sleeve button shirt, and casual dress shoes. My wife wore a nice summer skirt and a blouse. Most everyone else in the restaurant were also in nice summer wear. The interior is cool. It's all wood panelled and has an appropriate nautical feel without being the least bit cheesy. The wait staff were very engaging. They helped us through the menu. For a starter we had the clams in basil cream sauce. They were wonderful. The clams were perfectly cooked and the sauce wasn't too heavy. For our main course I had the lobster in orange sauce. It was delicious. My wife knew what she was going to order when we first saw the menu several months in advance. She had the Sole Meuniere. I love seafood but don't really like fish. The sole was easily the best fish I've ever eaten. It was so light and tasteful, and the sauce was perfect. The presentation was excellent. It was also a lot of fun watching our waiter perfectly fillet it with two spoons. One thing about the sole, it's the entire fish. It's honestly enough food for two people. If we did it again, we would have shared it. With that said, my wife was not able to finish it. Especially since we wanted dessert; which was Ile Flottante. It's my favorite French dessert. It was light and fluffy, as it should be, and the sauce was wonderful. I can't say enough about our experience at Le Duc. I can definitely see us going back the next time we are in Paris. Of course, the next time we'll know to share the sole.

Yelp
Nice seafood spot in Montparnasse. Jovial staff. Energetic, beautiful room. We had the sole and John Dorey (we should have split the sole -- wasted half -- it was huge .8 kilo) and split the crab salad starter. Nice bottle of Puligny Montrachet. Not sure it was worth 500 euros from a quality perspective over our favorite La Dôme, but very good nonetheless.

Yelp
We were excited to eat here last night and could not have been more disappointed. We started with the oyster appetizer and the oysters had good flavor, but could not be enjoyed because they were not shucked properly and there was pieces of shell throughout. We also had the sea urchin and caviar appetizer which was very good. The green salad consisted of lettuce only with a dressing that seemed to contain only vinegar. The green bean side was steamed green beans without any seasoning or butter, just plain green beans! The sole meunière was very tasty in spite of the fact that it was not deboned properly and there were bones in the dish. The langoustines with tagliatelle had perfectly cooked langoustines in a broken sauce with overcooked pasta. The service was virtually nonexistent. I am certain that you have much better options and your money would be better spent elsewhere in Paris.

Yelp
Formidable! A Paris secret for those who do not travel there often! The Lunch menu prix is delicious with wonderful selections for every pallet. The seafood was fresh, oysters sublime and every aspect of the restaurant is adorable and unique. You genuinely feel that you are in a boat and the atmosphere is unlike any other restaurant I have been privileged to dine at while in Paris. The lunch menu is extremely affordable for what you receive and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is traveling to Paris. We will definitely be bringing our family here over Christmas.

Yelp
Probably one of the best, if not the best pure seafood restaurants in the world, period hands down. Everything I tasted was top in class. Extremely high quality ingredients, perfect preparation and amazing service.

Yelp
As a first time solo traveler to Paris, this place left a lasting impression on me. The place has an upscale feel, but I did not feel judged by coming in wearing sneakers and jeans. The staff was very welcoming. I do not speak French and my server knew very little English. Despite that, he was patient and accommodating. Everything was served in a timely fashion and was so delicious. I ordered off of the lunch prefix menu which is still a little pricey, but well worth it. I left with a nice little buzz and a happy stomach. I meant to write this two years ago, but never got around to it. It is a meal I still talk about. They really treat their customers well and create incredibly memorable dishes. I was very anxious about navigating Paris on my own and this was a treat to myself. Thank you for the wonderful service and meal.

Yelp
The seafood in this restaurant is the definition of fresh. We ordered oysters & salmon with potatoes for apps. Both incredibly fresh and delicious. We both ordered the dover sole. Wow. This was easily the best dover sole we've ever had, better than il Mulino in NYC which is known to have one of the best. It was so good I couldn't stop eating. I could barely walk after leaving this place. I do not regret that though.

Yelp
Classic traditional French seafood house. Beautiful fresh oysters, langustines, caviar, sea urchins, and assorted whole fish prepared table side. All done simply and perfect.

Yelp
One of our favorite dinners we had in Paris during our stay. We ordered a pan fried fish that was drenched in butter (Sole Meuniere I believe it's called?) It was one of the best things we've ever ate. I don't know what they do to that butter but WOW. That's the only way I can describe it. They present a whole cooked sole to you before filleting it. It's really heavenly and words can't describe how good it was. Really, effing, good. The dish came with creamed fennel and steamed potatoes which went perfectly with the fish. We didn't feel the salmon tartar was spectacular enough to order again and I would skip it. You'll get full enough from the sole dish. The fish looks huge but the serving size is enough for one person to get full. Don't split it, be greedy. You'll seriously not want to share this dish once you try it. The dish is very simple. Pan fried fish in butter, but the quality of that butter and the freshness of that fish is all you need. You won't be able to replicate anything like this back at home, it's truly the epitome of what you would imagine french cuisine is. One of my friends ordered something different that I can't remember the name but it was essentially shrimp in pasta with a tomato based sauce. It was alright I thought, the shrimp was fresh (comes with face on). As my friend described the tomato sauce as "a mix of cocktail sauce in ketchup" which seemed pretty accurate. I wouldn't order that dish but my friend quite enjoyed it. It's very large for one person so get it to share if you must. If you can only do 1 fancy dinner in Paris do it here. The sole dish was around $60 euro give or take but highly worth it. A small dessert is given after the meal as well. Their wine is excellent so treat yourself to a bottle with dinner. Their finest, cheapest, bottle was very good :)

Yelp
Le Duc a Dissapointment Last weekend I went with my husband to Le Duc restaurant, after having heard very good opinions about it. What a dissapointment, starting with the food, the only good thing is the butter, the bread is terrible, then we asked for a fish soup that came out cold, w send it back and then came with no taste at all and the waiter said, they prefer the client to spice it, the we asked for a crab salad, the same think no season at all. For the main dish a Saint Pierre fish, that normaly is a great fish, but here was a complete waste. Talking about the service, it doesn´t exist, we waited long time for every thing and the wine, they never give us to taste, we had to serve it. After all that we didn´t dare to try the dessert.

Yelp
If you enjoy high end seafood then this is the place to splurge. The staff were very professional and friendly and was able to accommodate us in English. My wife ordered the thinly sliced scallops with black truffles and I ordered the crab salad to start. Both appetizers (entrees in French) were exquisite. We then had the fish for 2 which was prepared sous vide. it was quite possibly the best fish I ever had in my life (somewhat comparable to Le Bernardin in nyc). The fish was accompanied with black rice, stewed squash and plain steamed haricot verts. the dessert was amazingly delicious too. I forget what it was called but it was like a merengue swimming in syrup. We also had a bottle of a premier cru puligny montrachet which was a wonderful complement to the meal. Their wine list was extensive but not overwhelming and certainly offered a good selection of various white burgundies, even budget friendly ones. If I am ever back in Paris I am definitely returning here!
