Google
Hands down my favorite bakery in Alberta so far. The almond croissant is sooooo good, crispy outside and almond jelly inside; the citrus tart is AMAZING, not too sweet; latte is nice too. Everything is delicious!!!!

Google
Le fournil is such a treat. Over the years, I’ve tried almost everything they have to offer. Their desserts are meticulously crafted with love and high quality ingredients; my favourite is their moist chocolate cake. Their croissants are beautifully made - crisp and flaky shell and soft and buttery layers inside. Love how they sell croissant earrings so you can dive into the metaverse! A must try is their turkey sandwich…this recipe has stayed consistent over the years with the fresh baguette and moist turkey cut, toppled with the perfect amount of refreshing cranberry mayo and garden greens. Simply the BEST!

Google
Absolutely fantastic pastries , all made fresh in house. Coffee was fantastic too. Worth going to if you are in Canmore.

Google
La fournil bakery is a must stop in Canmore. We ordered the chocolatine aux amandes and it was the perfect size to cut in half and share. The quality of the ingredients are apparent upon our first taste of this magnificent pastry. The only regret is that I did not get more to take home!! This was our first visit, and it did not disappoint. Once you have real French pastry - nothing will compare. Tres bien!!! Easy free parking.

Google
I stop by every time I visit Canmore or on my way to Banff. This place has the best croissants! Try the almond croissant, it’s very filled with almond paste! The coffee is a good compliment for the treats too!

Google
Another must stop for me in Canmore . Visited recently here during the morning and loved the aroma of the bakery items on entering here . The display had tempting pastries, breads, and cakes and all looked so fresh. They also had breakfast croissants. We tried the almond croissant and it was amazing. We also tried cappuccino which was tasty and strong enough for a morning . They also have a small merchandise of maple syrups , tumblers etc . This would be a perfect stop for future trips .

Google
Awful service, avoid and eat at JK Bakery instead. Thanks for NOT putting all my pastries in the box. These lemon squares now can’t be enjoyed. 🤬 You struggled to wrap this in a box then gave up then were lazy and put it in a bag. I’ve been a regular here for years. I know you can put little squares with the large square IN A BIGGER BOX. I suggested you give me a bigger box but you didn’t and put them in a bag then this happened. I called and asked for a refund and explained this and you refused a refund. You called back and said you would give a refund but a little too late. The laziness of the front staff/ the cost saving of what, 20 cents?, to use a bag vs box will have cost you $50-100/ month in sales from this costumer for years to come.

Yelp
Found this bakery place near the hotel. Really wanted to try various bread options, but was told they were short on staff so a lot of the bread could not be made. I tried their Epi, and it was absolutely amazing! It was soft and chewy. I love just simply tasting the aroma of the bread and pairing it with black coffee. Really recommend it on trying the baguette and Epi right away. The fresh bread is unbelievably delicious. Their coffee is not the best in town, but it's still good enough. It is not bold (kind of light) and low in acidic taste. I wish I could have tried their other stuff (bread and sandwiches). They are busy in the morning, but the line for paying is very quick. HOWEVER, the wait time for drinks is extremely long! The barista is super slow and unprofessional, luckily another worker helped out with the drinks. Overall, the staffs are welcoming and friendly. The store has tables and seats, so it is a great place for breakfast or a quick meal. The parking lot was under construction when we visited back in September, so parking was a big issue.

Yelp
Holy cow. I will be dreaming of this place. This is the delicious part of Paris but with amazing, friendly people. Everyone here either speaks a native English or a beautifully-accented one. They are welcoming, warm, and knowledgeable. All of the pastries are delicious. Yes, I have tried them *all*. Additionally, of the 3 days we stayed in Canmore, I came here every day. Every. Single. Day. Here are my favorites: - Favorite sweet pastry: Almond chocolate croissant. I love the almond with chocolate together, and like with any other pastry here, the croissants are flaky with a thousand layers. The corners are my favorite. They crunch in your mouth into a million flakes, but with the almond croissants, you get an additionally chocolatey, almond paste goodness. Gah. I want this in the US. Please come. All of the pastries are delicious, but this is my favorite. - Favorite savory item: Ham and butter sandwich. Very simple but oh so good. The baguette for every sandwich is fresh, crunchy, and delicious. But this is my absolute favorite because of how much butter they add. It's creamy and flavorful, paired with a well seasoned ham. I gotta say -- I don't normally like ham all that much, so this is huge for me. The vegetarian and turkey sandwiches are also delicious! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any item here. Just close your eyes and point randomly. Lovely people, tasty food, ahhhhhhhhh. The bakery itself is a dainty small shop right on the road. Due to construction in the area, navigating to the bakery is slightly challenging: As you're driving by, just take any available turn off of the main Canmore road -- most of the turns are all connected a block over. *For those of you from the bay area in California, Arsicault is the closest you'll get.

Yelp
Delicious bakery! We stayed at a hotel down the road and happened upon this incredible little spot. The croissants, baguettes, and jambon beurre- all prepared expertly and worth ALL the calories. Lattes were also really well made. Wish we'd found this place sooner. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Amazing pastries! My Calgary foodie friend swears this is the best he's had in all of Canada. And this is definitely better than some I've had in Paris. Wonderful lamination in the pastries. Especially loved the almost croissant and the pesto tomato pastry. Flavors are explosive. The blueberry and raspberry pastries were both wonderful too. I especially loved the twisted and sugar glazed pastry of the blueberry -- it made it really extra crisp on the outside. And I loved loved the raspberry filling.

Yelp
4/5 for pastries - the bakery here had really solid delicious croissants that were perfect for a morning snack. I really enjoyed the pesto tomato and their almond croissant. It was super flaky and tasty. 2/5 for coffee - I picked up a latte and cappuccino. It was disappointing in my opinion and I recommend going to a nearby coffee shop instead. You could tell that the item was just an add on sale rather than an item they cared about making. The beans were mediocre and the balance between the milk and coffee didn't mesh well. Overall rounding up to a 4 since pastries are their go to and I would stop by again if I was in the area.

Yelp
Hey fellow dessert lovers! I've got to tell you about this amazing little find during our trip to Banff. Picture this: we're surrounded by stunning mountains, breathing in that crisp Canadian air, and suddenly... BAM! Sweet tooth attack hits hard. So there we are scrolling through Yelp and that's when we stumbled upon this absolute gem - a French Pastry Cafe near our Airbnb in Canmore. Modern, clean decor that just makes you want to snap pics for the 'gram. But let's be honest, we were there for the goods, and they deliver! We may have gone a little overboard and ordered... well, pretty much everything. But can you blame us? Those pastries were calling our names! And the coffee? Perfect companion to our sweet feast. Now, let's talk about those petite desserts. Holy moly, they were like little bites of heaven! Each one was a work of art - almost too pretty to eat. Almost. The staff were just the sweetest (pun totally intended). Super friendly and patient as we took our time looking over the delicious option. So, if you find yourself in Canmore with a sweet tooth screaming for attention, do yourself a favor and check this place out. Your taste buds will thank you, even if your waistline might not!

Yelp
We got a mocha and a pistachio pastry for a quick snack one evening at Le Fournil. Beautiful cafe, friendly staff and quick service. The pastries were fresh and reminded me of a warm summer day in France.

Yelp
Great spot with yummy pastries and coffee! They have counter/window seating inside and a small patio outside which is perfect to enjoy breakfast and enjoy the view of the Rockies. We tried the chocolatine aux amandes (chocolate and almond) and framboise (raspberry) pastries and were not disappointed! Service was super nice and quick and if you don't stay at a nearby place they validate 1hour parking.

Yelp
Cute French bakery in Canmore! Not located exactly in Downtown Canmore. Kinda hidden and not easy to spot but worth your time. They offer classical pastries such as croissants, pain au chocolate, etc and baked goods such as baguettes, sourdough bread, etc. The staff is polite and efficient. In summer, they have a nice patio where you can chill and have a nice cup of coffee or tea. Also, there's a market inside the bakery where you can find European products, frozen pastries, ready-to-bake goods, cooking books, etc. Prices are higher than your usual neighbourhood bakery but it's worth it. Pros: you're going to enjoy the pastries of one of the best bakeries in Canmore. Cons: everything's gone after 2 pm so go early.

Yelp
A must visit in Canmore for breakfast, coffee or lunch sandwiches. All of the baked goods are so fresh and delicious. We tried a lot of stuff and none disappointed. There are few chairs to sit inside but not for huge groups. Highly recommend to go check them out if you are in town!

Yelp
Baked goodies are goood, friendly staff, place is clean. of course it's busy in the morning, when everyone is trying to grab breakfast.

Yelp
A true gem in town. Friendly staff, good prices, & relaxing atmosphere. Quality ingredients & taste. Wish I could take it all back with me to Texas!!

Yelp
We got 6 total desserts and the ham and beurre baguette here over our 2 visits. Everything was so well balanced in flavor and texture. The only complaint I have is that you have to ask for utensils and it's just not included (yeah I'm totally gonna eat these desserts with my hands right?), but even that complaint is a dumb stretch... meaning, there's very little to complain about here :) Service was quick and efficient. Seating is outside. They got a cozy souvenir area in the back. Parking easy in the big lot nearby. Desserts were ~$8 each. 10/10, would definitely come again and definitely recommend to all friends. Well thought out and executed desserts that make me feel like I never have to fly to France.

Yelp
I am so sad I didn't come here everyday while in Canmore! We stopped by on our last day here and was absolutely blown away by the pastries. We got a few to share - a pistachio cake, chocolate cake, lemon curd tart, and pain au fromage. The cakes were SO delicate and like a warm flavor blanket for your palette. The mirror glazing on them were so impressive. The pain au fromage had a shell that shattered as I bit into the buttery layers. Even the butterfly packaging on the cakes were a delight. The coffees were also delicious. Highly recommend stopping by!

Yelp
The coffee and pastries exceeded my expectations. I really like the flavor profile of their coffee compared to the other local shops.

Yelp
Dropped by Le Fournil on the day of our departure from Banff albeit it was just across our airbnb. Such a shame that we weren't able to try them early on during our trip. Their pastries were deliciously flakey and buttery. We had an assortment of danishes and croissants and everything was so good! We will definitely drop by more often when we go back to Canmore again.
google avatar

Donna S.

Yelp
The almond croissants were super flaky, fresh and crispy. The frangipani was tasty. The babka we got was not quite as soft and sweet as I was expecting. Hope in the future they'll open their dine- in cafe again.

Chris S.

Yelp
So many delicious flavors. Each time we come we get something new and are never disappointed. Worth the trip to Canmore

Yelp
I'm a baking nerd so every time I take a trip, I seek out as many bakeries as I can to try out. I bought a bunch of items from Le fournil and everything was top notch; I highly recommend this place. *Tomato pesto danish - this may have been the single best thing I put in my mouth all week, it was AMAZING. The pastry was perfectly crispy and soft at the same time, very buttery, intense savory pesto, you gotta get this! *Smoked turkey sandwich - the mixed greens and cranberry aioli were simple but perfect, the sandwich overall was really well balanced and the baguette was so good. *Almond croissant - had that same crispy and buttery flakiness as the danish and the sweet almond paste filling was generous. This was a standard almond croissant, but a really good one. *Lemon meringue tart - another standout winner, the shortbread crust was very crunchy and buttery, and the lemon filling was sharp and tart, just how I like it. The meringue on top may have been a tad sweet but it did pair really well with the sourness of the lemon curd. It tasted like a marshmallow meringue and the texture was beautiful.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing French pastries!!!! Service was great and fast! The shop is cute and clean!! A must try when in Canmore!! We loved the blueberry cream cheese (so much I went in & got second one to go) and tomato basil ones the most! We also enjoyed the ham & cheese, chocolate croissant and monkey bread (monkey bread could've used a little more flavor). I wish they would warm it up for you, but the lady said they don't do that. The chocolate mousse cake was so good too!! Great prices here too!!
google avatar

Dianna H.

Yelp
In love with this bakery / pastry shop. We stopped by twice during our week long stay in Canmore and everything we tried was delicious! We mostly tried their desserts / mini cakes, but the chocolate croissant was delicious as well. My favorite dessert was probably either the Gateau de Chocolat ($7.95) or the lemon and meringue tart ($6.50), but it's all down to personal preference and taste. Lots of the folks around me in line were picking up their bread or pre-made sandwiches, so those seem to be pretty popular as well. You seriously can't go wrong with anything here.
google avatar

Lynn N.

Yelp
Tomato, pesto, and cheddar cheese croissant. The best. So good I came back the next day to order it again. Both times I also got their baguette and baguette de campagne. Their pastry selection is impressive with different croissant options. The mark of a good place is their butter croissant and this place has one of the best I've ever had. Their varieties include raisin, blueberry, strawberry, almond, and chocolate. They have quality dessert options too. I tried the lemon meringue tart and it was a balanced bite of tart and sweet. They have great coffee and tea options too. This place is always a must visit for me whenever I come to Canmore!

J M.

Yelp
Purely for the bread it's amazing! Other stuff was ok. I definitely recommend but they sell out.
google avatar

Chris T.

Yelp
Absolutely nothing wrong with this place. It's super fancy, delicious, and very French. It's just not my style is all. We loved what we got and my wife approves the coffee (and she's hard to please when it comes to coffee!). Took off a start because $15 for a coffee and 2 pastries which didn't begin to fill me up seemed a little high. But so glad we went.
google avatar

Yelp
This French bakery is a wonderful stop in Canmore. We stopped in later in the day, so many of the fresh baked goods were sold out, but what we did get was wonderful. Fresh, flaky croissants, and a delightful little cake called the Lady Grey. If you love Earl Grey tea, you will love this cake. I also picked out a ham and butter sandwich on a baguette and it was a perfect light lunch in the middle of the day. The shop wasn't busy and the lovely staff member helping us let me practice my very beginner French skills with her. I left with a smile and will definitely be back next time I'm in Canmore.

Yelp
Fast and nice service, uses compostable and people can bring their own reusuable cups, good coffee and good pstries

Yelp
After seeing this bakery on yelp, my friend and I decided to stop by as it is located close to several resorts in Canmore. We got the blueberry danish and almond croissant. They were both delicious. The almond flavor was not over-powering and the lamination on the croissant was so good. The blueberry flavor in the danish was fresh. The staff was kind and friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the Canmore area.
google avatar

Christina F.

Yelp
Amazing!!! We were visiting and this was our go to every morning. Fabulous staff, croissants (all types) tea, coffee, you name it, it was all good. The almond and chocolate croissant will continue to haunt me because it was so tasty! A must try.
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
I think I had high expectations when visiting the bakery. I was expecting plenty of options for pastries. However, they only had different breads, croissants and baguettes. Not plenty of options for cake or pastries. But if you are visiting, I do suggest trying the croissants as they are good. There is a cute mini grocery inside the bakery.
google avatar

Hadia G.

Yelp
Little gem bakery in the heart of Canmore. Friendly service and they were so happy to help us with our dietary restriction. We tried their lemon meringue.. super good and the coconut passion fruit cake lots of flavour and original! There is an amazing park "riverside park" few minutes drive where we enjoyed those delicacies
google avatar

Carla C.

Yelp
Petite cakes were worth the pricey price. Pleasantly surprised with the large variety available as well. Saleslady was a little curt and I felt rushed choosing my desserts.
google avatar

Phillip B.

Yelp
Loved the baked goods here. Ordered a Chocolate croissant and blueberry danish with the coffees for our breakfast, and the turkey baguette for me, and ham and cheese baguette for my wife for our trip to Banff that day. So good. Just take note of their hours because some days are closed.

Stevie M.

Yelp
Delicious! Their croissants were better than the ones I've had in Paris! The shopping area for hidden gems is also great! I came home with some distinctive salt blends for my kitchen!
google avatar

Yelp
Oui. Yes. Come here. But don't get lost wandering around the building like I did. The bakery is located inside the strip mall main entrance door, and then to the right. This is a place you get your items and leave. The packaging is beautifully done. The cafe was busy but the proprietor's were very serious about maintaining social distances and had hand sanitizer etc. The selection is well curated and glorious. The sandwiches looked so scrumptious, I can't wait to return and sample more items. The croissants were flaky and soft (cue the music when you dunk the almond one in coffee, oo la la!). The ham and cheese pastry was amazing. I decided not even to add butter to it. I wasn't blown away by the chocolate cake the first time I tried it. But, after putting half away in the fridge, I LOVED it chilled the next day with coffee. We got two little lemon merengue tarts on a whim and they were o u t of this world. This is a truly authentic French bakery with beautifully prepared, tasty food.
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
I absolutely love this bakery. Everything is perfect. Authenticity French in every way. Their coffee is excellent too.
google avatar

Kristen A.

Yelp
Excellent pastries and baked goods. We got the chocolatine, the blueberry danish, and the Hazelnut chocolate glazed cake. All excellent! The blueberry danish wasn't too sweet, the croissant pastry is flaky and fluffy. We would definitely visit again. It was standard pricing to other fine bakeries.

Debra T.

Yelp
Amazing pastries and coffee. These delicious treats could easily be found in the best patisseries in Paris. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
Came in here to kill some time and for some sweet treats. We ordered various sweets that I don't remember the name of but I especially enjoyed the caramel glazed pear cake & strawberry desserts. We also had cafe mocha lattes which were pretty good. Nice strong coffee & well-made desserts. Overall a nice bakery to visit while on vacation in Canmore!

David A. W.

Yelp
Great little bakery. When my wife says she loves your almond croissant that is a big compliment. It was delicious.
google avatar

Chris O.

Yelp
This place is a treat - it felt a bit like being in a Parisian bakery. The espresso drinks are excellent and the baked goods we tried also outstanding. There were also many fancy higher-end desserts that we did not try but enjoyed looking at.

Yelp
Hearing many raves about this place from both numerous Yelpers and our Airbnb host, we decided to check Le Fournil Bakery out! It was a bit difficult for us to find, given that we haven't been used to Canadian addresses, so we didn't know this place was actually inside a large building, as opposed seeing the building standing on its own. Le Fournil Bakery is a small bakery set up beautifully with about 6 tables seating 2-4 people each and strategically placed right by the mountains. What a perfect view for some peaceful breakfast! We got here around 10AM, and we were surprised they ran out of hot chocolate! Although we couldn't get in on the soothing hot chocolate, we did take the *last* monkey bread as well as a Danoise salée, which is basically a pastry with tomato, cheddar cheese, and pesto. The monkey bread was actually somewhat hard on the top. I expected it to be fluffy and soft, but the unexpected crunch was a bit disappointing. My boyfriend said it could be because it was sitting out for awhile and is the last Monkey bread for the day. As I was hungry, I kept munching away, and luckily for me, the top was the only portion that was hard! Everything else was very soft. The monkey bread wasn't gushing with cinnamon drizzle/syrup; rather it had trace amounts of cinnamon, so more of the focus was on the sweet dough and not the cinnamon. As a breakfast item, I found that interesting and actually preferred it not being too sweet! The Danoise salée reminded me of a pizza with pesto sauce, but it surprisingly worked well as a breakfast/brunch item! The pastry was quite buttery and the cheddar cheese a bit dense, but the fresh tomato lightened up the pastry! I also liked the added touch of pesto sauce as opposed to marinara sauce. A great find in Canmore! If I am back in the area, I would love to come back here.

Yelp
Popped into this little bakery to grab some dessert. By the time I got there, there was maybe an hour left to close, and selection was starting to run a bit thin. Breads were practically non existent, there were a few croissants, and a few individual cake slices available. I picked up a butter croissant, and a slice of carrot cake. No picture of the croissant because I inhaled it in the car because I was hungry. It was nice and flakey on the outside (I was covered in croissant crumbs), inside was a bit bready for my liking, and also it missing that rich buttery fatty taste. I think missing the buttery taste is probably because the milk/butter in Alberta isn't the greatest from what I've discovered. The carrot cake was done well, could have had more cinnamon in my opinion. But that's probably because I love cinnamon. But it was nice and moist, with lots of carrot shreds it in, and had a nice cream cheese frosting on top.
google avatar

Kitty T.

Yelp
Absolutely scrumptious! I picked up a variety of their baked goods and cakes to bring home. Hubby said the petite cakes were really good - some of the best he's ever tried - I can't disagree! The baked goods were also done very well - could taste the buttery goodness in the pastries. Service was friendly and efficient.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Their croissants are excellent but they'd be better with jam....how can they not have a small pot of jam? Charge me, if you have to do so. I do think that their raisin rolls are equally good and not too sweet! And finally we bought a crisp and crunchy baguette one day which was delicious as well. Four stars!
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
By far one of the best bakeries we have come across. Thanks to all the Yelpers that quickly made this clear in their reviews. I marked it, forgot about it, then noticed it when we were looking for a breakfast spot. Everything looked so good it was hard to decide what to get. The ham and butter baguette was my favorite by the thinnest of margins. We actually got a second one to go. The monkey bread was being ordered by everyone and so glad we got one. We ended up getting a second one as well. So so good. The blueberry croissant was lights out but we just didn't have any room left for it. The biggest disappointment was finding out that they were closed the following day. The coffees were outstanding. We loved the atmosphere and hanging out. The ladies working there were wonderful. This is a no miss spot if you're in the area, even if you're not! :)
google avatar

Geoffry H.

Yelp
Wonderful coffee/bakery/eatery. Everything is amazingly delicious and the atmosphere is quite relaxing yet robust with customers relaxing and enjoying their selections. The staff is generally very relXed and very helpful. Their bakery boxes are very unique and makes you think of the way Parisians would pack up desserts and baked goods. Not saying anything more this will be part of your journey there should you decide to take home some yummy, eye catching, delicious desserts.
google avatar

Yelp
I am in town visiting a friend that I hiked the Camino DeSantiago with. There was a chocolate pastry that we had on the trail that had fond memories for us. This bakery made a delicious one, called Chocolatine, as well as one with almonds... We also shared a Danoise salée that was absolutely divine and the monkey bread was perfect. The chai latte was amazing as well... Not too sweet and just enough spice. I highly recommend this bakery and I will definitely be eating there again tomorrow morning!
google avatar

Yelp
BEST Almond Croissant ever!! Oh my word.... I'm a huge fan of these, and have tried them for numerous places in Edmonton (Duchess included) and in Calgary. However, the ones made here were perfect (with those from Duchess a close 2nd) We also ordered a pain au chocolat and ham and cheese croissants (for my husband), a plain croissant (for my toddler), a danoise salee (for me), and a monkey's bread. My husband enjoyed his bites and from what I saw, so did my little one, his. The danoise salee which was a puffed pastry topped with tomato, pesto and cheese, was yummy! But the monkey's bread was just okay. Next time we are in Canmore be sure to stop by and check out this delicious french cafe - you won't be disappointed! I myself can't wait to get my almond croissant fix. But be sure to go early as they sell out of items fast!
