"Le Foyer Bakery has been a go-to spot in Mattapan for flaky, flavorful, buttery pates since the ‘80s. You’ll find tender pockets of dough stuffed with saucy chicken, seasoned beef, flaky cod, or smoked herring. Wash it down with a sparkling Cola Lacaye or tangy iced jus citron (Haitian lemonade). You’ll also discover nostalgically decorated cakes made with Haitian vanilla extract and rich buttercream. Senator Linda Dorcena Forry deemed this spot a pillar in the community, recognizing its role in leading the way for other Caribbean American businesses." - Ashia Aubourg

I came right before closing, and it was very busy and there was little food left, so I got cookies instead of savory food. I have never had a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie with coconut, but it was fantastic!!!

This is a no bs, you-know-what-you're-getting, type of spot. They have Haitian baked goods but I've been going there to get Haitian beef/chicken patties since I was a kid. No bs, they've gotten better since then. I moved out of the area, not far but not convenient, 4 years ago. Just killin' it over there.

Google
I went there to buy some "paté" because my wife kept asking about them. I thought she was obsessed. So I brought five of each. While driving home, I tasted one and I can't stop anymore. I just gave my wife only two because these pâtés are so delicious. The place was clean and the food tasted very, very great. Thank you for serving us.

Google
The parties are good, but customer service zero the staff are very rude. If it was not for the party, I would not even go there even waste my money they need to work on the employees not everyone I Haitian when you have a business you should care for everyone not just speaking your Haitian language and thinking that everyone speak the same language, so whoever the owner is, you need to speak to your staff because again if it was not for the pastries, I will not come back to your business. Customer service is very important very and without customer, you would not have a business remember that.

Google
Sara is a very efficient, polite professional in this bakery’s fast paced environment. There are always long lines, proof that the pâtés are consistently tasting awesome.

Google
Great food! Love their patties. They run out fast some times. Expect to wait a long time in line though. They’re extremely slow. Atmosphere is ok. Not upbeat.

Google
Patties are always great ! Tend to always be a huge line no matter what you go but that’s a GREAT THING ! That means the food is amazing. As far as the food in the case , doesn’t look like it is changed daily , seems a bit old and possibly left out overnight . Always good to ask though !

Every time I'm in the Boston area, I get an urge for their patties, but when i think of the rudeness, the lack of customer service, the misery on their faces and the speed by which they operate, I drive straight home. Food is 4/5 star. Zero stars for their lack of customer service and smile less faces. I don't care how good your product is, my money will go where the smiles are bright and the service is exceptional.

Yelp
I've been going to this establishment for years first with my parents and now with my children. The patties have been consistent with the flavor and texture. This establishment usually has a long line but it's worth the wait. I've been in line with 5 people and waited 20 mins and I've been in line with 15 people and waited 20 minutes. This is not the establishment you go to if you're in a rush. The staff are there to give you patties and that's it. Don't be upset if you don't get a hi or thank you. You simply tell them your order as simple as possible, you pay, and leave. This is not a warm environment, however, the patties always bring a smile to my face and stomach. I can't get enough of the patties at LeFoyer. They offer a variety of patties such as chichen, beef, cod fish, and herring as well as baked goods. My favorite is the cod fish is packed with flavor and is sometimes a little spicy. Do not eat these patties in the car unless you're going to eat it directly over the bag. You go to this bakery to make you stomach happy. The bakery is always clean. The prices are affordable.

Lizzie Y.

Yelp
Le Foyer Bakery offers Haitian baked goods. Their patties are amazing & find that I enjoy them way more than Jamaican patties. They are flaky & tasty. I enjoy getting their beef patties & have never had any issues here. Usually get about 3-5 of them. Parking is available in the back of the bakery.

Olaedo E.

Yelp
I get patties from here whenever I'm in town. The chicken is my favorite. There's always a line, but it moves fairly quickly. The patties are pretty good. They aren't greasy at all and the dough is very tasty and fresh, which makes up for the fact that there's only maybe half a tablespoon of filling.

Yelp
why a business have a phone when nobody is there to answer I MADE 21 TIME STILL NO ANSWER THANK YOU

C B.

Yelp
Every time I come I grab beef chicken and fish patties But today I reminded myself to do a review because there is a place and time for everything I wish more people was like the ladies who work here! A young man walked in short of cash and she said that's my problem not yours!! This the business we all need to support because in a world like today we need more places with open hearts serving us

Deedee M.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT THEM IN THE CAR unless your car is already dirty.. That flaking of the crust ain't no joke! I've had Patties from here maybe a decade ago before I moved away. & they were so good. So when I was in town I said I wanted to try this place but the lines are always intimidating. Butttt that also may indicate that I need to suck it up and go get me some So finally I came on a Thursday morning early, maybe 3 people in line in front of me. (Not sure if you can do catering orders at the same window you order food, but one person was at the window for almost 20 minutes and I wanted to leave) I ended up staying obviously, & ordered 8 beef Patties and a 6 chicken ones. The beef was the only ones I had tried previously and they were really good. The chicken were a lot bigger and of course cost more, but there is also more flavor in the chicken ones. I feel like although the chicken ones are bigger than the beef ones, I'm pretty sure they have the same amount of meat inside. The service is a bit eh , and not very welcoming. But I mean get your food and go and you'll be fine

Angel X.

Yelp
This place preserves my Haitian pride and maintains my reason for being You cannot go wrong with choices here, Le Foyer has hands down the best patties on the block / in boston. Personally, my order is two chicken patties and a beef patty but sometimes, I'll settle for one of each. Their patties are perfectly balanced with a satisfying crunch followed by a juicy, flavorful mix of their epic seasonings. The patties will certainly change your life. If you're pescatarian, I would recommend getting every fish option because they certainly hit in different ways. If you''ve got a sweet tooth, they have a wonderful assortment of traditional and conventional sweets my personal favorites are the coconut treats and peanut brittle which meat the soft or crunch side of the palate respectively. The whole vibe of this place makes you feel like you're at aunties house and you leave feeling that wholesome vibe. I miss this place everyday I can't drop in and order something

Shatara C.

Yelp
I am so happy that my friend brought me to this restaurant. I remember coming here a long time ago but I forgot it existed. I tried a cod fish patty and the herring patty and they were delicious, the crust was buttery and extra flaky. They were fluffy and filling and I was pleased with the amount of fish in each patty. They had a lot of other baked goods in the restaurant and chicken and beef patties as well. I also tried a white milky looking drink called soursop, however, I was not a fan of that; it is definitely an acquired taste. The employees were pleasant and helpful mostly because my friend was speaking to them in creole and goes to this location often. I am going to this restaurant again soon just to have more of their patties because they were truly tasty.

Jamal J.

Yelp
Thank God they opened back up again, I can't be doing this without visiting my favorite Haitian Patties spot. If you are looking for good fluffy Haitian patties this is the place. I know there's a little competition going on between them and that other patties place ‍, well I'm here to say there's no competition. Le foyer is the best by a mile. Go down to Mattapan and enjoy one of their Haitian patties you will not be disappointed.

Isabella A.

Yelp
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for this place especially reminiscing about the good old days when my parents and I would go to church and after church they would purchase a variety of patties from this location. Their patties were so fulfilling that eating two of their chickens would feel my stomach up, from their outside crispy layers of bread to their generous portion of meat. I recently went back to this spot simply like many of you all I was craving a good old Haitian chicken and herring patty, my first experience was waiting in line which was normal we're following the CDC guidelines perfect then I said good morning to the cashier she looked at me with one might say misery and annoyance...maybe she was mesmerized by my beauty; but I wouldn't allow her to ruined this opportunity for me after all I did drive 30 minutes but who's complaining especially when craving for some patties. I asked her if I could get some of the fresh patties that were on the food rack she rolled her eyes and sucked her teeth at me I thought to myself wow she must be really miserable on this hot day anywho I got in my car being the greedball that I am I took a nice bite of the patty just to have 99% of dry ass bread and 1% dried up spicy chicken, so not only did your cashier attempt to ruin my mood your patties had put the cherry on top and completely left me disgusted soooo farewell Le Foyer you will not be receiving my business ever again but then again you guys do not care oh well.

Lucinda A.

Yelp
By far my favorite Haitian business to grab a Haitian pattie. My go to is the chicken and the Herring I must say back in the day they didn't give much meat but I went yesterday and I the bread to meat ratio was on point. I haven't tried their sweets but they do look good. I can't wait until I'm in the area and come back. If you haven't tried Le Foyers Haitian patties I recommend you do so. You are truly missing out.

Jackky R.

Yelp
Great hatitan patties BUT the hours are not consistent. I'm tired of driving 35 mins to Mattapan to find out your closed.

Sosa T.

Yelp
Their pastries and snack are awesome but the customer service is zero. They assume everyone who walks in speaks haitian creole. I had one of the ladies hang up on me twice on the phone when I was trying to make an order because I didn't speak creole and she didn't speak english. She could have gone to get someone who spoke english to take my order. It's very frustrating dealing with this store.

Sam D.

Yelp
Love these Haitian patties and deserts. I recommend the beef and chicken. Not the fish. This is not a sit in place so grab your food and leave. The ladies behind the counter are kind people.

Jade A.

Yelp
You may be thinking "Sak pase Nova?" My response would be this bakery is what's up. A friend put me on to this small Haitian gem and it was TheBomb.com. We tried the patties, brought home some bread (which we later toasted with butter and dipped in coffee... real old school style), and Haitian cola. The service was great. Next time we're in Boston and my friend asks me what's up, my response will certainly be, "M'ap boule, but gonna hit up that bakery again or nah?"

Mark S.

Yelp
I bought 10 Beef and 3 Chicken patties. The Cashier today couldn't ring up my order correctly. She tried to overcharge me. I had to get the owner to instruct her and correct my order. She double charged me for the Beef patties--an easy order to calculate for a competent cashier. Not happy with today's order. Patties are decent. Not satisfied with the customer service. Not the first time this has happened.

Whitney P.

Yelp
Answering the phones during business hours is a MUST!! The patties are phenomenal, but how can you get them if there's no way to contact the bakery.

Tati T.

Yelp
The food is fine if you can get it, but get there early for lunch! However the service is the absolute worst, they will skip over people in line to help their friends first, with zero apologies. I gave them a few chances, but it's really not worth it.

E E.

Yelp
Straight up.... Terrible service, sometimes you're waiting 20mins for patties. The front persons do not care at all...lol Patties and baked goods aren't bad when everything flows the way it should flow. That s about it. Give yourself plenty of time before going there you might bebwaiting for a while for patties to be done.

Nancy N.

Yelp
I love coming to Le Foyer. There is a variety of patties chicken, beef, swordfish, and codfish. The patties are delicious with tasty seasonings. The prices are reasonable but expect to standing in long lines because people order large quantities theirs patties and hopefully while your waiting there still more. Bon manage.

Sassiness M.

Yelp
I love me some Le foyer bakery. The patties alway bomb and delicious. Always warm when i order. Just customer service need a littlw work. Them girls need to know how to talk to people sometimes. The environment vibe is lovely. $$

Naomie E.

Yelp
For the little bit of meat they give in the patties, they really should have better customer service practices ‍..

Jessica F.

Yelp
This place is by far THE BEST place to get Haitian pattie. Me and my family have been coming here since I was a little girl and the patties never failed to impress me. The patties are so already good and I have they remain like that.

Angel M.

Yelp
The best place for paté in the Boston area. I just wish the patés weren't so expensive ($2-3 each) and that Le Foyer was opened 24/7 but I have not been disappointed yet.

Beckster B.

Yelp
I grew up on these pattys. My mom would literally have all my birthday cakes from the age of 1 until now from there. This bakery is legendary and my guilty pleasure lately ive noticed the lines have been getting longer and sometimes out the door lol. My favorite thing to get are the chicken and fish patty with a Cola Lakaye on the side . The lines can get so intense sometimes you'll hear people bickering thinking someone cut the line lol.

Reyna R.

Yelp
I do agree the Patties are the bests, with out a Doug, but yes let talk about the services, the worst place, no manners, rudeness is unbelievable. But I also have to says. We need to understand, just because someone has a business. It's doesn't mean they have great customer services. For the younger women working there, it's not their faults. It's the owner fault. Who ever hire them to servers customers, is to blame. They are lacking people skills, how to deal with the public. But the owner just care about making money. Not knowing, that if the service changes for the better. They will get more customers. And believe me I drive 45 minutes to buy this Patties. I love them, my two son love the patties. My work place, they love them as well. I also think, the people they serve need to address this with the owner.

sydney n.

Yelp
Some of the staff were rude taking my order. This one young lady with a stiff wig seemed irritated when taking my orders. When I went back for a straw she didn't hand it to me she dropped about three straws on the counter for me to pick up. But the food was AMAZING. The fish and chicken pâté is to die for!! As well as the akásan ( creamy haitian drink ). Overall needs better staff but really good food!

Merancia F.

Yelp
Their Haitian patties are really good... when they're available. Unfortunately, more often than not, they are out of one or more of the patty options and you may have to wait until the next batch is out of the oven. To make matters worse, their customer service is subpar at best. It's a good thing they're patties are really good because that's their saving grace.

Jen Y.

Yelp
Drove by this place thinking it'd be a quick stop for some patties/pastries, but the line was to the door and not moving! I told myself, eeehh it might be worth the wait though, but sad to say, I don't think I'd do it again. The beef and fish patties are good, but aren't to die for. Like others have said, very heavy on the dough, meat filling is minimal. The patties are also inconsistent in size which means the filling is inconsistent too. This does mean they must be handmade from scratch though and they do come out warm and fresh from the oven. Aside from patties, the sweets that are in there aren't very appealing. Couple of cakes, muffins and what appears to be cookies, not too tasty looking.

Kat B.

Yelp
It's not the same like how it use to to be wayyy back in the day now it's hard to even to get a patty with a spoonFUL of chicken. I don't get it you guys have mad business but you guys are starting to get real cheap... Lines out the door but when u get your patty it's like disappointing. Please do better ! The breadding is great but it's not all that with no meat

Stacey R.

Yelp
The customer service here is very poor. As she approached the counter to take my order I wasn't greeted or anything. Then when she proceeds to give me my order she throws down the bag in front of me on the counter. Customer service is so important, I can't stress that enough! With that being said they will never get my hard earned money again.

Jessica B.

Yelp
I came here to order my dozen Haitian patties, and the lady just "had" to tell the coworker that I was speaking English. She even asked the lady if she understood what she was trying to say. Right in my face! Just because I speak perfect English, does not mean that I do not understand or speak Kreyol. Please just appreciate that I'm here buying your products. Not only that no matter how many times I said "please" and "thank you" the lady was acting like It was the hardest job in the world. The patties overall were good, but for a bakery why don't they have a box? They gave me the patties in a paper lunch bag with a plastic bag over it. With the bag being hot, it started to condense in the bag and that tore the bag up.

Angie M.

Yelp
Patties are hand-down the absolute best. However, the customer service is non-existent. They are just plain rude! A class or some form of training in customer service would go a long way. Might even help extend their demographic for their business, but I don't believe they're smart enough to realize that. Unfortunate, because the product is above standard.

Suneeta B.

Yelp
The quality of the beef, smoked herring, and salt fish patties are excellent. The customer service however gets minus 3 stars, because there is always only one person handling the register, the products, and the customers, no smile, no greeting, and extensive waiting. My suggestion to the owners is to spend a little money and hire some additional help..

Robert S.

Yelp
I got introduced to Le Foyer by my uncle's wife , as her family's Haitian. I'm grateful for my aunt and the great Haitian patties and desserts she introduced me to. The beef, chicken, and spicy herring patties are light and flaky. If you're lucky, you'll get your order just as they've come out of the oven. The langue de boeuf is a sweet, light buttery pastry that's a great way to end a meal. The Neapolitans aren't bad, either, One comment: I don't speak Haitian Creole, so I do feel self-conscious placing my order in English when most of the other customers speak Creole. However, once I take the first bite of my order, I'm reminded that "Mmmm!!!" means the same in English as it does in Creole....

Shaleah T.

Yelp
So I've been eating here for years. LeFoyer is hit or miss in size and flavor consistency. Somedays the beef are amazing and somedays they suck tastewise. The chicken taste better consistently for a hefty price, lol. I believe that if one brave soul would open a patè parlor with amazing tasting food maybe LeFoyer would lower the prices and at least make the beef CONSISTENT with more then dime size meat portions

M H.

Yelp
Patties aren't the same as they used to be. They've gotten very skimpy on the meat fillings.

Amir S.

Yelp
Back in the late 80's and early 90's I could get some patties with some meat in it. I just can't do all that flakey bread stuff. Reminds me of a meat baklava. No can do. I go for the Akasan (Corn Flour Shake) all the time. Order them by the DOZEN and gulp it all down before the hour is up. Try not to go immediately after church without shades on. The colorful church clothes will blind you. LOL

John B.

Yelp
Haitian Meat Patties are awesome other reviewers are 100% correct. Try the Herring ones. Oh so good. FYI the don't start the chicken ones until 2PM and everyone knows it so be prepared to wait in line.

Raenelle F.

Yelp
Patties are Awesome Just get there early on a Sunday if you don't want to wait in a long line

Sabby G.

Yelp
I regret to only give this Bakery 3 stars but the people who work here lack tremendously in customer service and punctuality. As far as the patties go, this is the best bakery in Boston to offer Haitian patties. However, the employees are rude and unapproachable. Also, although the website AND their voicemail says they open at 7AM, I've been there numerous times before 8 and they weren't even open. Disappointing.

Gio B.

Yelp
4 years later, trying those babies again, absolutely tasty! Pleasantly surprised by how good these patties are, I have been making the 20 mins drive every Sunday morning to get some ... still over priced though thus the 4 stars.

Marckenzie B.

Yelp
Their serve was poor. There was a young woman with brown extensions. She was unprepared to provide costumer service. We made a sizeable order, which required some attention to detail. The young woman failed to follow the order and attempted to rush to the next costumers. There was also another woman, I believe the owner. She was unprofessional also. In the end, the order was incorrect. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are other Haitian restaurants in Boston.

Audrey B.

Yelp
- I like Le Foyer .. I honestly don't have much complaints . A bit more meat inside the beef patties would be nice lol .

Bella S.

Yelp
I will adress each aspect of this bakery Decor: Newly renovated, nice, and clean. Customer Service: HORRIBLE. There can be 20 people in line and they are still taking their sweet time. NO smiles. NO greeting. NO "Thank you." Today when I got to the front of the line I asked for a beef pattie. Their response: No beef. I then asked for Chicken or fish. Their response: "No chicken, no fish." They basically had 0 patties left which is their main/top seller. Most businesses will call back to the kitchen when food is running low--Not at Le Foyer. They don't mind making customers wait forever in line and they don't care if they no longer have a product for sale. Food: I usually only get the patties when I go. Most times they are very tasty, however there are times when they are very dry and just don't taste fresh. It's a hit or miss. And you're lucky if you get more than a tablespoon of meat! Parking: Small, tight lot but I can usually get a spot.

Shia G.

Yelp
Oh Le Foyer this review comes with much heartache. The quality of their patties have gone down and not over the past month but for years now. The meat is often stretched with flour which can result in a gooey consistency, on top of the fact that they dont even place a teaspoon of meat into there patties. I mean for a place that 90% of there revenue comes from patties i would think they would do better. But they have many things in their favor like being one of the few Haitian patty bakeries and they've had that location for over thirty years. Yelp is the best place to state ones opinion on the experience as a concern brought to any associate would surely go on deaf ears. The overall taste of the patty is good with a warm flaky crust. Although I want to mentioned that i stopped eating there patties about 2 yrs ago after me and my friend were horribly sick for days after eating a herring and chicken patty one Sunday. Herring used to be my fave but its nearly $3 a patty now, i like them because they are spicy and tend to have the most filling. The beef $1 are a nice start for someone looking to try a authentic haitian patty but contains less than a teaspoon of meat filling. In conclusion I have mourned them years ago but was hopeful for its revival. Sadly I will only patronize Le foyer as a last resort especially since Fan Fan bakery about 5mins away has great/better patty with tasty bountiful filling for $1.50 each regardless of filling YUM YUM Oh and tge two stars are cause i grew up with them they used to be amazing but since the parents/founders passed it one to there children the EVERYTHING has suffered and they do just enough to keep the dollars rolling in. Oh and one more thinng most of there American baked goods come from like BJs or worse some bargain grocers, so dont waste your time

J I.

Yelp
Horrible. I don't know how this place has gotten anything above one star! The service was horrendous. I walked in with my mother and instead of a greeting and smiles I was stared at and then ignored. I overlooked the offense and ordered a blueberries and chocolate muffin.....it was disgusting. It was like tasteless dough. I don't recall what my mom ordered but I do remember her having to throw it in the compost. Mattapan is in desperate need of a bakery but one that actually knows how to craft delicious(or at least edible) pastries.

Dia J.

Yelp
I have been going to Le Foyer for at least 20 years or more now and if it was for customer service i would boycott them. They patties use to be big, meaty and flaky and oh so good good. The price use to be great as well. Then they heck up the price, made the patties smaller and added way less meat. How does it make sense to give less for more money. anyways, I continue going because of my children who loves Haitian patty but can't speak a word of Haitiain creole. They love haitian food so even if i can't stand the customer service of Le Foyer because of my babies i will pay my money for decent patties and terrible customer service. Btw don't get me wrong i still think the make the best haitian patties in town as long as you don't mind the terrible customer service, the long line and the high price. Until I hear or read better my children and I will continue going.

Nisy W.

Yelp
Hands down best patties around. This bakery got just right. The perfect ratio of meat, seasonings, flaky soft, dough. Every bite you takes, creates a flaky storm on your shirt. I have been coming to this place a lot of years. This is a known neighborhood fav, that continues to do what they do best and that's make great patties. chicken, beef, fish, they all are good.
