"You won’t find traditional pho here, but what you will find are unexpected flavor pairings—green papaya salad with shrimp crisp, cashew nuts and spicy tamarind, fresh veggies and hearty grilled prawn skewers—all served up in a brightly lit, Parisian brasserie-like setting. Vegetarians will be pleasantly sated with the soy-braised tofu and hedgehog mushrooms. If it’s not too hot out, opt for one of the tables outside, settle into one of the roomy wicker chairs, and take in the bustle of the surrounding Star Street neighborhood. Don’t glaze over the wine list—it features an impressive roster of biodynamic French wines rarely seen elsewhere in Hong Kong."

A westernised Vietnamese restaurant with a nice vibe that suits the location. Both the food and drinks menus are well designed. Staff are welcoming and friendly. We ordered the tofu stew, egg omelette with prawns and grilled fish. All were very nicely seasoned. Ingredients were fresh. Portion size was appropriate. Quiet an enjoyable dinner.

We came here to enjoy the grill food and the atmosphere. Food was good and portions are large for 1 person alone. If you are hungry you can easily order one main for yourself, however they are also good to share if topped up with multiple sides. In honesty the sides is what we enjoyed the most. The rice paper rolls were super fresh and tasty, and the sweet potatoes were also super nice. The chicken seemed a lot to start with, but actually is all bony parts. No breast or leg, so overall a bit of disappointment. The Barramundi was cooked very well, although overpowered by lemongrass. Perhaps people love that intense tangy flavour, I didn’t find it that enjoyable. Service was excellent and atmosphere relaxed and easy. Pictures are dark because the lights are very dimmed.

The food here is very good and really liked the ambiance too! I particularly enjoyed the barramundi, grilled pork neck and the wagyu bavette... basically all the mains that are available for Lunch menu! Super delicious, well seasoned, great variety of rich flavours... it is refreshing. The service was a bit behind though, I felt there weren't enough hosts. We have to keep actively asking our glasses to be refilled with water, no one checked in on us throughout. At 2.57pm they came over to tell us that they close at 3pm as a factual statement & quickly stepped away - but they havent even cleared our main dishes, so I wasn't sure how I can help... besides telling them to come back and ok, please then serve the ordered desserts? 😅 Understand my friends also wanted to inscribe a few words next to the dessert for celebration with me, but even such a simple request is declined by the restaurant. I feel as a black sheep & relatively higher end restaurant, these services are minimal expectations and should be reviewed and re-evaluated.

A nice Vietnamese restaurant, with a bar to unwind, But prices a bit steep, keep that in mind. 💸🍹 Staff are friendly, and the seats are just right, Comfortable spaces for a cozy bite. 🪑😊 Foods are nicely presented, with portions so grand, A feast for the eyes, a culinary stand! 🍽️✨ Lunch set menu offers a tempting array, Just a three-minute walk from Admiralty’s way. 🚶‍♂️📍 But be prepared for an uphill climb, No cover from the rain, so check the time! ☔️⛰️ AJ suggests to the restaurant, a thoughtful request, Offer cheaper good value lunch sets, smaller portions, the best! 🥗💚

Google
Great contemporary Vietnamese food, which is quite affordable for the quality. The music is a bit loud and distrqcting. I would recommend wearing a ja key on the first floor for the air conditioning is artic. Overall very lovely and pleasant experience I would return judt ft or the fish. I wish they had also non alcoholic cocktails

Google
We finally got around to trying this spot and while the food was good, it was tad more expensive than expected and to be honest, it doesn’t feel worth the price in terms of the taste of the recommended dishes we tried. However, service is definitely 5+ stars and all the staff here were very welcoming and checked in on us frequently, which we greatly appreciated. Overall, not a bad spot but just a bit overpriced for what we got.

Yelp
Went for lunch. Ordered Shredded Chicken Salad and Cha Ca VA Long ( grilled fish). Both are very good. Staffs are very friendly. Decor is nice too. Highly recommended!

Yelp
What an amazing experience! I liked the food so much that I went there twice during my four day trip to Hong Kong. I absolutely loved the stuffed squid and had the best tasting eggplant ever! The service is also amazing.

Yelp
Great food! The food was very tasty. The crispy eggplant and the sweet potatoes was absolutely delicious. The beef was also so juicy and tasty!

Yelp
Shoutout to my waiter homie Jeff for hooking me up with Black Sheep HR. Might swing through and work at their joints... Came here for Sunday brunch and was surprised to see no pho. Are you even Vietnamese if you're missing that? But the food was solid enough, no complaints - maybe a bit oily. I had a beer can chicken whose culinary origins apparently date back to the Vietnam War when American troops would ram a beer can up a chicken's behind and grill it so that some sort of weird seasoning would happen there. Can't argue with the results, but tastes a bit too oily and leaves an aftertaste. Had a couple bugs flying around the place - fair enough since it's an open air restaurant (big open door to outside). But who wants to lay the smack down on bugs when they're just trying to enjoy a nice Sunday morning yanno Overall solid Wing Fung St option - this street has changed a lot since back in the day

Yelp
Le Garçon Saigon just got a Michelin Guide Honorable Mention!!!! Well deserved. This place has amazing on menu items, and seasonal specials as well. All the dishes are well thought out... classic dishes mixed with new cooking techniques. Amazing ingredients and you will not have a bad meal here. One of my go to places while in HK!

Yelp
So this was my second time here, first time was for my b'day last year not long after they first opened so it was a bit hit and miss with the food and well, with a birth-month long celebration in December, totally forgot about reviewing let alone what I ate! This time round needed to grab something quick and yummy pre-theatre, no booking but with the promise of eating and leaving within 45 minutes we were ushered to our seat. The menu has obviousld had an overhaul as I didn't see many dishes I recognised though that's probably a good thing! Ordered grilled corn with cheeeeeeeeeeesy goodness, mini banh-mi, spring rolls and the banh xeo (pancake). That banh-mi made my heart sing. Reminded me of the ones I used to get back home in Sydney, the crispiness of the bread, plentiful of pate, was just a bit sad every bite meant one less bite. The grilled corn was good, met my expectations, spring roll however I did not like. One of my girlfriend back home is Vietnamese and her mum used to make us killer spring rolls. I wasn't expecting that level of wow but this really had no taste, wasn't even that crispy to be honest and not really worth the calories. Banh Xeo was not bad, pretty fresh and on point. Service was excellent, food came out quickly and we were in and out like promised!

Yelp
Rarely does a restaurant's self depiction reflect reality. On menus and websites alike, I've read lofty vision statements, bold missions and evocative guiding principles. Restaurants that seem bent on solving world hunger rather than serving a proper meal. But on Le Garcon Saigon's website, their philosophy of serving 'vibrant and fresh flavors of Saigonese cuisine in a bright and welcoming space' is on point. In fact, I could heartily endorse that statement and cut this short, perhaps adding that Le Garcon is a really fun place to eat. But that isn't why we're here, is it? Instead, here is a frisbee sized banh xeo ($118 - xeo is an onomatopoeia that describes the sizzling rice crepe batter when it meets the hot pan) that arrives shatteringly crisp and lovingly anointed with plenty of fresh herbs. Pocketed inside is a jumble of shrimp, sausages, bean sprouts, peppers, and other lovely bits. You're meant to tear off bits off that lovely rice batter, ply it with the innards, and wrap it around the herbs. A bite. Fresh. Vibrant. Clean. Perfect. It's the best damn version of banh xeo I've tasted since spending a week in Ho Chi Minh City a year ago. Here is a plate of excellently curated charcuterie ($168) - perhaps the best (or only good) thing that came from French Imperialism is excellent food - a flavor bomb of chicken pate, opulent head cheese, pickles of many shapes and sizes, and a terrine of something delicious (I lost count at this point but trust me, it was tasty) accompanied by excellently crusty banh mi (French demi-baguette). And here are skewers of pork meatballs ($128) meant to be tucked into rice paper and dressed with an abundance of fresh herbs, rice vermicelli and hoisin. The meatballs are tightly packed and hum with porky flavor and are brushed with sugarcane liquid to create the welcome Maillard reaction (read: crispy, brown, delicious). It's a simple affair, but the attention to detail at Le Garcon Saigon is what sets them apart. Eating here is fun. Eating with your hands. Assembling a bespoke bite of food. Hearing the audible crunch of the banh xeo and the following giggle of delight from your dining companions. Drinking a bit too much while soaking in the sights and smells of the semi-outdoor patio area. If one were to poke holes in the experience, the dining room was a mite on the loud side, and the wait staff were quick to upsell on us deserts, drinks, etc. But I can overlook those details - after all, everyone else is entitled to have their fun as well.

Yelp
Food: I quite enjoyed most of the dishes we sampled, which surprised me because I wasn't all that excited about the menu. Le Garcon Saigon bills itself as a French Vietnamese restaurant, but there appears to be relatively little French influence in anything other than the decor. Highlights from the evening included: the Pork Collar DIY Rice Paper Roll (really well flavored, high quality pork served with veggies and rice paper wraps), the Crispy Chicken Wings (soooo cripsy!), the chicken liver pate (I only ate the delicious bread that came with this dish, but everyone else loved the pate), and the apple crumble dessert (excellent graham cracker-y crumbly crust). I would skip: the Grilled Okra (very small and uninspiring) and the Eggplant in Mekong Curry (not sure if I didn't like this because it didn't taste good, or I just don't like eggplant...). We had mixed reviews on the Charred Sweet Corn; some loved it and others thought it was overly-sauced and heavy. Overall, I found the food to be of very high quality and well-prepared/flavored, though I would have appreciated a more extensive menu. Atmosphere: So lovely - French bistro feel on a very cute street in Wan Chai. Very spacious with plenty of windows and an outdoor-ish area by the front. Perfect for a date or any sized group. Service: Absolutely no complaints! The service was attentive, friendly, and efficient.

Yelp
I really quite like the food in there. It's very fresh and the wagyu skewers and chicken wing entree and coconut sago dessert was to die for. I know the crispy pancake with chorizo was supposed to be very popular but we didn't actually rate it. The gripe we had about this place is that my friend was told w gets two hours of unlimited beers, he arrived at approx 5:45pm and was told he need to stop ordering beers at 7:15pm. Also we were told the table was for us till 8pm however at 7:49pm we were given the bill and was told the next sitting was waiting.

Yelp
A fine Vietnamese and French place. Nice wine selections and Vietnamese eateries. Small portions but great atmosphere

Yelp
Tried this place as it was right outside Pacific Place and we were in the area. Apparently quite popular with the French bankers working nearby. Lovely Parisian cafe decor and setting - but the food was quite a let down especially for the price tag. There is only so much glamour one can add to street food from Vietnam so serving them with key ingredients in tiny portions and lots of green leaves does not make a true dish no matter how much wrapping the waiter tries to get diners to do. Been to many many Vietnamese restaurants, mid-high tier and have to say this is one of the more disappointing ones. If there are reviewers who rave about this place, I would be to ask if the ambiance had more influence than the food itself. Try a few more places serving similar food, then come back again for a more accurate comparison. This is merely my view and I respect the views of others too if you disagree.

Yelp
We waited outside with a drink and some snacks for about half an hour before being seated. The first thing that sticks out about this place is the fact that the staff are not dismissive and rude and actually very friendly. We opted for some skewers, the banh xeo (this was my first Saigonese pancake/crepe) and a dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious and if you look the slight bit confused when food hits your table, the waiter/waitress explained how best to eat things - which was just as well given I'd never tried the awesomeness that was the banh xeo - a light crispy pancake with Le Garcon Saigon's own twist on the classic Saigonese dish. It has prawns, chorizo, bean sprouts and other vegetables inside a folded crepe which you dip into a very flavourful sauce. I visited Ho Chi Minh City for the first time about 3 months after visiting this place and was able to better understand the differences vs. what we consider to be "typical" Vietnamese food and I can genuinely recommend this as one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've tried in Hong Kong. Prices are not cheap but this is a place to enjoy in a group so you can try a range of dishes.

Yelp
So I'm standing at the table near the door with some clients who (being fellas in HK) like beer. The little bottles were finished within 15 mins and no attention from the staff. Two staff nearby discussing their clipboard and I pad, but not appearing to do much else. I moved over and gently told them I had clients with me and needed their drinks to be frequently replenished as their bottles had been empty for at least 5 mins. Instead of coming to assist, they beckoned another college to come over, however maybe she wasn't given the correct instructions, so she simply took the empties away and that was it! So, needless to say I approached the two ladies and reminded them that now we have a clear table but still no beer. Instead of coming over to take the order, they quickly found the other lady and again sent her over looking somewhat bemused! To be fair, it was unlikely to be her fault. Clients surprised, me surprised but hey ho.. I'll give it another go simply because the food reviews are good. Fingers crossed the waitresses don't forget to serve the food...

Yelp
One of my favorite Hong Kong restaurants. Great for a special occasion. The DIY rolls are really fun. Outstanding for and service. I just loved the above and decor in the restaurant. We had the deep fried spring rolls, paté, and Wagyu beef bavette steak. All delicious and made a memorable meal. We will be back.
