Where to Stay on the Left Bank, According to Paris Insiders - AFAR

"At the edge of Saint-Germain-des-Prés I appreciated Grand Hôtel Cayré’s art-deco splendor, a Jazz Age corner property on Boulevard Raspail and Rue du Bac that was fully renovated in 2024 under general manager Mickael Meunier. Interior architect Michaelis Boyd dressed the rooms with antique mirrors, embroidered fabrics, art-deco–style lamps and crystal chandeliers, while the art-filled Annette restaurant aims to be a neighborhood institution under chef Bruno Brangea. I enjoyed the Officine Bac (the Dispensary), a sexy drinking den where Oscar Blackstone creates botanically inspired cocktails, and noted practical touches like a gym and a “refresh room” for red-eye arrivals. The original staircase features a sky fresco by Mathias Kiss, two standout suites include all-inclusive minibars and Eiffel Tower views, and L’appartement du Collectionneur on the seventh floor doubles as a rotating showroom of 20th- and 21st-century furniture you can buy." - Lindsey Tramuta, Mary Winston Nicklin

"A Roaring Twenties–inspired art-deco landmark on the corner of Boulevard Raspail and Rue du Bac that reopened after a head-to-toe 2024 renovation, featuring antique mirrors, embroidered fabrics, crystal chandeliers and a sky-frescoed original staircase. The all-day Annette restaurant showcases a brasserie menu overseen by Bruno Brangea (pâté en croûte, œufs mimosa, beef tartare), while the Officine Bac cocktail den offers botanically inspired drinks by Oscar Blackstone; amenities include a gym, a refresh room for red-eye arrivals, and suites with all-inclusive minibars and Eiffel Tower views. One suite functions as a rotating showroom of 20th- and 21st-century furniture and decorative arts available for purchase." - Mary Winston Nicklin

"In twenties Paris, the Art Deco-style Hôtel Cayré was a meeting place for artists and writers. A century later, this Saint-Germain-des-Prés landmark was reborn as Le Grand Hôtel Cayré. It's the flagship hotel of the lifestyle brand Miiro, and they’ve gone out of their way to preserve the building’s best qualities, like its elegant stone facade and quaint balconies, some with views of the Eiffel Tower — not to mention the buzzy atmosphere in the street-level bar and brasserie, named after the French-German writer Annette Kolb, a longtime resident at the original hotel." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel was perfect start to finish - and a great home base for 7 nights for our family. The hotel itself and the rooms are beautiful. The restaurant, breakfast and the staff all exceeded our expectations in every way. We loved the neighborhood, the amenities, housekeeping did a superb job every day making us feel like our room was fresh. I literally teared up at the thought of leaving at breakfast on our last day. If you are still researching hotels- your stop should end here. This hotel was wonderful!

Hotel was great! The location was perfect, the rooms were designed to reflect Parisian style and were so cute. Loved the Le Labo in the rooms. The rooms were clean and everyone at the hotel was professional and friendly. They even left a little note and box of chocolates with a birthday wish. Every detail was thought about! Highly recommend this hotel.

Charming Stay in the Heart of Paris||We had a lovely stay at this cute boutique hotel in central Paris. The location is perfect, and we really appreciated the friendly service, welcoming vibe, and overall good standard throughout the hotel. It felt cozy yet stylish — a great base for exploring the city.||A couple of small things to note: there were limited hooks for towels, the shower door could’ve been a bit longer to prevent water from spilling onto the bathroom floor, and the toilet paper holder was in a slightly odd spot.||That said, none of these took away from the experience. It was definitely a 4-star stay — a good and memorable one that we’d recommend!

We had a great stay at this hotel. Although the room is on the small side and we were placed on the back of the hotel on first floor to which the room feels quite dark. But to compensate this the central location and convenience of getting to many places on foot all made up to it. Breakfast is superb with fresh bread, juice and well prepared food. Most of the staff are super friendly and professional except one that was a bit rough, considering this is a luxury hotel with its rate at €500 plus a night, we we surprised this particular staff weren’t well trained.

We just returned from Paris and cannot speak highly enough about our experience staying at Le Grand Hotel Cayre. The customer service was exceptional in every way from the moment we walked through the door until check out. Our flight home was cancelled last minute and we needed to stay an extra night at the hotel. Although the hotel was almost full and our current rooms were already assigned to other guests for that night, the hotel staff was able to move some reservations around in order for us to remain in our same rooms (we had 2 rooms) for the extra night. The rooms were very nice - smaller in size like most hotel rooms in Europe - but more spacious than many of the hotels we have stayed at in Paris in the past, and the beds were very comfortable. The location is perfect - right across the street from a metro station and within walking distance to the Musee D'orsay and Louvre. The area is full of shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again next time we are in Paris.

Very nice hotel and in a very convenient location. Lots of stores, shops and restaurants all around the hotel plus a Metro station across the street.Rooms are small yet such is Paris hotels. Staff is very helpful and they have a very nice breakfast served at your table by a waiter. Nice bar area for a relaxing drink.

This was the most wonderful find of a hotel. The hotel and restaurant are both just beautiful. The location is incredibly convenient to many major sites, in a lovely neighborhood, and right next to a great metro stop. We could not have asked for a better stay and loved our time here.
