We stopped by without a reservation and the place was packed. we ended up waiting about an hour for a table. Definitely recommend booking ahead. We ordered the flank steak and the walleye fillet. Both dishes were beautifully presented. The plating was impressive. The flank steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The walleye, on the other hand, was a bit underwhelming. It looked great but tasted a little plain compared to others I’ve had. Overall, solid experience, but I’d go back with a reservation and try a different dish next time.

We had a great experience dining at this restaurant during our recent trip. The service, food, and overall atmosphere made it a memorable stop. They helped us manage the stroller and made sure we were seated comfortably, which we really appreciated as traveling with a baby can be a bit challenging at times. I had such a wonderful meal at Le Lapin Sauté in the heart of Old Quebec. The atmosphere is cozy and full of charm—perfect for enjoying traditional French-Quebecois dishes. One of the highlights of my visit was their French onion soup. It was simply outstanding—deep, rich broth layered with perfectly caramelized onions, topped with a thick layer of golden, bubbling cheese and crusty bread that soaked up all the flavor. Every spoonful was comforting and delicious, especially on a cool evening. The service was warm and attentive without being rushed. You can feel that they care about offering a genuine local experience. If you’re exploring Petit Champlain and want an authentic taste of Quebec, don’t miss this place. I’ll definitely be coming back for the onion soup alone!

It was so good I went back the next night. The duck and rabbit casserole was great but the rabbit fillets were even better. I had a le Lapin punch which was very refreshing. The patio is charming as were the staff.

This is a quaint gem! It's just like out of a fairytale. Because where I am from I rarely get the opportunity to eat rabbit, I jumped at the chance to eat here. The staff was super welcoming and I was seated right away. I had looked at the menu online. The rabbit pot pie stood out to me. It was beautifully presented, perfect portion size and was accompanied by a little salad. Everything was delicious. What a delightful treat dining here was. I'd even say a magical experience!

Great and delicious foods ! My mom enjoyed so much her duck casserole, and my dad had the duck, shrimp and salmon casserole and my son and I had the white fish fillet with vegetables and salad, with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing which all of that was diary and gluten free. Atmosphere was good too and the waitress was very kind and attentive, she spoke English and French too ! We felt very welcome and will definitely will be back when we visit Quebec City next time. Impeccable service and food in this adorable, quaint and intimate bistro. The server cheerfully provided explanations of ingredients and preparations and the dishes came out surprisingly quickly! It was a very enjoyable experience for my family.

This rabbit and duck place truly exceeded expectations! We shared the Tout Lapin Tout Canard—a fantastic way to sample a bit of everything. The confit duck stood out as the absolute highlight—tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We also tried the French onion soup, which came with four fresh bread, perfect for dipping into the rich, cheesy broth. The staff were all warm and welcoming, especially Maxime and Pascale who made our experience even more enjoyable. We weren’t very hungry, so these two dishes were more than enough. But next time I’m in Québec City (and I’m sure I will be), I’ll definitely come back to try more!

I walk into Le Lapin Sauté in Quebec, on a very busy Saturday night. The owner greets me: "Hello Monsieur Boss! Please follow me, we prepared a table just for you." Right smack with the nice view, kept just for the Rebel Chef. The best table! That's my French restaurant. But they call only one guy - ME - "Boss". They assigned two bussers to my table, while other tables had nobody. They know a review is coming! Got some beer. Kicked back and drank.. I also order a very hearty Québécois type soup and - quixotically - a burger with a fish patty, that was too good to not order, since this is a fisheries province after all. The soup was phenomenal. Drinks extra smooth with enough alcohol % to put down an elephant. Main course was served to me - to me alone - by both the waiter and buss-gal; to make sure all was as it should be. Restaurants know the "Boss" has arrived, when the Rebel Chef is in town making reviews and posing for photos! Salmon patty burger was fat, not fatty at all and nicely seared. Hot but not overcooked. Its ingredients were fresh. Pitch perfect old town setting with small kitchen that cooks up Quebec-Americain! The desserts are delicious. I noticed some out of towners, they order the same thing they get at home: spaghetti, salad. Not me! I'm legit and order the unknown, weird, dishes. Need taste? So, follow me on Yelp! This is such a cozy little restaurant located in the beautiful Petit-Champlain district. The fireplace added a nice touch and was pleasant considering how freezing cold it was outside. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it definitely had a warm and welcoming atmosphere that we really appreciated! I would highly recommend making a reservation here if you are looking to dine in! The service was super friendly and quick as we were immediately shown to our table and our order was taken promptly as well! My favorite items on the menu were the Onion Soup with Red Beer and Cantonnier Cheese Gratin and the Duck Foie Gras. For our main courses, we also ordered the Cassoulet with Duck Sausage and Braised Rabbit Leg and the Rabbit Pot Pie with the Fruit Chutney. While the appetizers we ordered were amazing, we felt that the main courses definitely lacked a touch of seasoning. However, I'd definitely come back just for the appetizers and atmosphere and to try some desserts next time!

Just wow. What a quaint, homey, cozy place to eat some incredible rabbit on a cold, snowy day!! Get a reservation, as this place had no openings all weekend. We scored a lunch reservation, and it was one of the last ones. The food: The small rabbit poutine was outstanding. The rabbit was unbelievably tender. And the gravy had such a rich, deep flavor. Perfect for one. My wife raved about her onion soup. My rabbit leg and duck sausage cassoulet was out of this world! The rabbit was again tender and tasty. The duck sausage - a little sweet, a little salty, unctuous, a true delight! The beans and bacon complimented everything perfectly. I'm a fan of rabbit! Just plain delicious. Come to this place and let your taste buds enjoy.

It had been eight years since I last busted this cozy and delicious restaurant and my sweet memories of it held true. I cannot rave about this place enough. From the stunning exterior decor to the rabbit focussed menu to the welcoming vibe for kiddos despite the elevated menu... I love all of it. It feels as if you're dining in the kitchen of the most inviting home. They were very welcoming to our family of four that included a baby and toddler. We shared the rabbit poutine, rabbit pot pie and sampled local Québécois cheeses. We also thoroughly enjoyed their non-alcoholic menu featuring local and seasonal ingredients. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. In summary- you won't regret making this restaurant a priority during your visit to Quebec City

Great foods and atmosphere! The shop is adorable and homely. We were exploring our pallette and tried rabbit dishes (and others). We ordered a bottle of red to compliment our meal, which was always a good choice imo. Reasonable prices for the service and foods. We enjoyed every plate.

Le Lapin Sauté was my choice for a belated birthday dinner while we were touring through Québec City and it was delicious! I think service knocked them down just a little bit though. On the night of our reservation, it started raining maybe 10 minutes before our reservation. While the staff acknowledged our arrival, they also let us know we couldn't stand inside due to space. However, they also don't offer much of an awning outside so...luckily some of the buildings just across the street had doorways that were slightly recessed. Looking over the menu, it's clear Le Lapin Sauté specializes in rabbit and duck, it's one of the reasons I chose it after all. We tried the French onion soup, the appetizer sampler, the rabbit saddle, and the braised rabbit with duck sausage. For dessert we added their famed salted honey pie. Everything we had was tasty but it did take a long time to come out. We had even asked for the appetizers to come first since we had walked around the city all day and were pretty hungry. Nope, still at least a 35-45 min wait. Alas, it was still worth it in the end! The French onion soup was chocked full of onions in a rich broth topped with an ample amount of cheese! The sampler plate had many little things to enjoy but the rabbit rillettes was definitely my favorite! The crostinis don't do the plate much justice so do yourself a favor and request their house made rolls - they are warm and fluffy, you're welcome. Between the two entrees, I liked the roasted saddle more. The duxelle really helped to elevate the dish and I liked the roasted potatoes on the side. The braised rabbit seemed a little overdone? It was borderline tough but the duck sausage was pretty good and I really enjoyed the beans on this dish, especially with the bread! Dessert was a slice of salted honey pie and I appreciated the sparkling candle they stuck on top for my birthday - it certainly caught the attention of the dining room for better or worse haha. The pie was so good! It wasn't too sweet and the custard a nice, rich caramel flavor throughout.

This little intimate restaurant in Quebec City was so adorable. The specialize in rabbit. I had the pasta with pesto and I added the rabbit. My daughter got the rabbit saddle with roasted veggies. Both were so good. The service was great even though you do have to wait your turn in a way since it is such a small restaurant but they serve amazing cocktails while you're waiting. Such a great experience!

We had dinner at this restaurant, because it was selling rabbit meat and duck meat here. We would like to try. We had a Quebec Discoveries ($32) that included duck breast, salmon, rabbit meat mix, country pate (pork and chicken livers), and Quebec Cheese; also we ordered the rabbit leg ($32) that included a rabbit leg and some beans. Food tastes not too bad, but not having surprises. The rabbit leg tasted not marinated, but it did have sauce on the top. Salmon was raw that I had mentioned I don't eat raw stuff, but waitress didn't remember it. Rabbit meat mix and duck meat were like tearing meat and put them together. 2 pieces for each one. The Quebec Discoveries was a bit over the price, the leg was ok. I like patio seats, but not at night, too many bugs around, especially by the garden. So try to get there early if you want to try. Also they have text system that it could send you a message and inform you. That's cool ah! You can still explore when you waiting for the seat.

My husband's favorite restaurant because he loves rabbit meat. We can't find good rabbit restaurants in the Bay Area. While visiting Quebec City's UNESCO site (old Quebec City, oldest city in North America). We came early to get outdoor seating because we have a small dog. They only allow service dogs. Our dog is well behaved. He liked the little garden setting outside. Inside looks small. Food is the best part. We ordered the following: - Quebec discovery with foie gris with a little of everything from appetizers section 4/5 - rabbit saddle 6/5 nice piece of rabbit with tomato flavored meat and lots of vegetables green beans and red cabbage and the second sauce - dory fish with the same vegetables 5/5 - cheese fondue 5/5 small bowl but delicious - French onion soup 5/5 - sangria 4/5 - le juliette drink 5/5 aloe and watermelon juice not super sweet Service was good

Stopped off while riding around Newport. Really great location as we were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Our server was very pleasant and was able to answer all of our questions. Our food was very delicious. I got the burger which was cooked to perfection.

Very busy and requires a reservation. Crowded and cramped restaurant but well decorated. Service was great. Prices are high and the food was unseasoned. The cooking on the items was well executed but the cassoulet had no salt, and I could not finish it.

Our visits to old city quebec are enriched by visits to restaurants that we would not normally encounter. This is such a place. Specialized in rabbits (lapin) the meat and suuces have delighted us. This time I had the saddle, and Page had the rabbit pot-pie. Awesome. There was a bike race that day so I was glad to get a res using the open table app.

What a great meal!!! We sat outside where we were serenaded by a street musician who was far enough away from the restaurant that it was very pleasant. We shared a rabbit poutine- highly recommend!! I had the Rabbit Saddle and it was delicious. The service is super efficient

Everything was great in this adorable little restaurant. The heated patio was warmer than we expected. Highly recommended. I loved the pot pie. Excellent service. Beautiful wines. This was one of our favorites during our 4 nights in old Quebec City.

The Québec discoveries platter (consists of Duck gravlax, smoked salmon, rabbit rillettes, duck rillettes, Québec cheese, roasted garlic and dill pickles) was delicious along with the bread and salted butter. The Rabbit pot pie with fruit chutney was also delicious but the filling inside the pot pie was a bit underwhelming.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this little slice of heaven. We wandered Quebec City by day and popped in here for a light dinner. The service is fantastic, and it felt like we were in a small French bistro. We ordered the sampler plate filled with tidbits of both rabbit and duck, pate, and foie gras. That foie gras was the best I've ever tasted! We loved it all, but the maple creme brulee topped it all off beautifully. I'd come back here in a hot second if I were in Quebec City again. Loved it.

Quite enjoyed this! A very tiny very old little building, in the old Quebec City area. Everything is around rabbit; we decided to try the discoveries plate and the pot pie. Discoveries plate was excellent, a wide variety of small portions to try a lot of local cuisine. Rabbit, gravlox, pate, cheese, smoked duck. All interesting and delicious, we quite like the country pate. The pot pie was a whole different story. So savory and delicious and somehow light. Crisp puff pastry and a nice salad. Really enjoyed - the rabbit really stood out.

absolutely amazing food, service, and ambiance from this quaint little spot in petit champlain. i had this on my itinerary before arriving in town because it had so many good reviews. the space itself was warm and inviting, the waitress who helped us was very sweet, and all of our cocktails were tasty, and fairly affordable compared to the US. we tried pretty much all the rabbit dishes on the menu, which was cooked perfectly; so tender and flavorful! i particularly enjoyed the pesto pasta with rabbit and the rabbit saddle. the maple syrup crème brûlée was so sapid as well, so creamy and had a nice crispy sugar coating. overall, highly recommend if you're in the area!

Cute place. The food was ok. Fondue came with garlic ciabatta type bread. The rabbit saddle dish was a bit bland and the meat was on the dry side for rabbit. The place was cozy and sweet inside but it got very busy all at once and the wait staff did their best to keep up. Kid friendly place for a novel meal if you've never had rabbit or duck.

Cute little restaurant in the heart of Quebec City. We had made a reservation but arrived about an hour earlier than our reserved time, and they let us in. The place does get busy, though. We chose to sit outside; it's very pretty and overlooks a garden area where sometimes there are musicians playing songs. Although the table and chairs in the outdoor seating area are not too sturdy. We got the Quebec discoveries with foie gras to share. I also got the French onion soup which was yummy. The Quebec discoveries has a little bit of everything and is a nice way to try out different items in their menu.  The staff was friendly and service was good.

When in Quebec City, you gotta try some French cuisine! This place was recommended to us by our AirBnB host and it was the perfect, charming spot for lunch. We ordered the tout lapin tout canard, which is a shareable meal for two including rabbit, duck, and an assortment of sides, dips, and sauces. It was quite tasty and fun to eat, trying out all the different combinations, kind of like a charcuterie board. We also added a side of Quebec cheese fondue, which was delicious with the bread. Would highly recommend this meal, it was one of the most unique and memorable dishes we got to try and it was a good amount of food for us. Overall very happy we got to try out this super cozy restaurant. It's def something we can't quite find at home!

I loved the quaint, rustic facade of this restaurant. It's located on Rue du Petit-Champlain so it's surrounded by a bunch of shops and eateries. My friend and I did not have reservations so we tried doing a walk in as soon as it opened. I was able to add my name to the waitlist and provided my contact number so we were able to explore the area until our table was ready. We were seated in the patio area. The ground wasn't completely leveled so sitting wasn't entirely comfortable. Plus side was being able to people watch and listen to the musician play songs as we were dining. Our servers were friendly. For a drink, I ordered the peach soda which was refreshing on a hot and humid summer day. For food, my friend and I shared Tout lapin tout Canard which was plenty of food for us. For $74, it included raised rabbit leg, duck leg confit, rabbit rillettes, duck foie gras terrine, smoked duck breast, roasted garlic, vegetables, roasted potatoes, bread croutons and marinade. Their foie gras made me love foie gras again. Everything was delicious except the rabbit was a tad dry for me and the bread tasted quite stale. Smoked duck breast was probably my favorite on the platter.

Good, but not great. The restaurant is on a very touristy street with a patio facing a mini park, so they're usually busy. They have an interesting food & drinks menu with lots of local/ French delicacies, including a foie gras and obviously lots of rabbit. I ordered the 'saddle' which was so well prepared, that it tasted like chicken, not gamey or dry as rabbit can be sometimes. I had a sour local beer, which maybe was the wrong pairing for the dish. Overall, it was very good, but not the best food I had in Quebec this trip.

Thank goodness I had made a dinner reservation as the wait was quite long on a week night. We had the rabbit sable and the rabbit cassoulet. Both dishes were fabulous. It's so hard to get rabbit in the U.S. so whenever I visit Canada I search for the best restaurants to dine on rabbit. Le Lapin did not disappoint. Cute cozy restaurant with great service. When back in Quebec I will make a point to dine here again!

Ahh this was in many recommended sites so decided to try it . Rabbit sounds really exotic also :O Hmm so wasn't sure what to expect cause we've never tried rabbit so this is how it went : Pros: intimate gorgeous space , fireplace table sitting ( right behind me), unlimited free bread and butter if you ask , creme brûlée was so yummy Cons: tables were tight , washrooms were a bit weird : it was unisex and the toilet was up on a ledge so I can see this being inaccessible handicap folks Additional notes - For us personally , rabbit was just too exotic . It had this weird taste to it . We ordered both the Rabbit leg/ veggies and Rabbit pot pie with salad . The Rabbit meat in the pot pie was extremely pungent which made it difficult to enjoy . The Rabbit leg had a very odd creme flavor which masked the pungent taste but also was weird on its own :/ The waitress was friendly but also gave off some snobby vibes . Overall definitely worth to try . Rabbit meat was just not for us

We were very excited to dine at Le Lapin, but the food quality of my wife's breakfast was inedible. She ordered the Duo of sweet and salty Belgian-style waffles, and she didn't want the Rabbit and duck rillettes with them. The server didn't say anything about not having the rillettes and took the order just fine. The first time they brought them out they were rock solid and couldn't even cut into them, and they just politely apologized and redid them. The second time, they were a little softer but dry as sawdust, so we told them again they weren't edible. The server then said the waffles are premade and reheated and said if the waffles don't have the Rabbit and duck rillettes to soak up the juices they will come out dry. So two things struck me odd... who premakes a Belgian waffle that literally takes 5 minutes to make. And second, who wants a waffles that's soaking wet with meat juices to eat. Plus even if you did want some meat juice waffles, no amount of meat juice could have reconstituted those piles of sawdust. In the end they blamed us for the mistake, never even offered a fix to the food, and I was stuck with a 108.00 check and my wife's with nothing to eat.

We had a late breakfast, so we weren't too hungry when we came here for lunch. We decided to share the Quebec Discoveries- smoked duck breast, salmon gravlax, rabbit "rillettes", country pâté, Quebec cheese, roasted garlic and marinade. It also came with pickles, ribbons of zucchini, and walnuts. The plate was put together well. Everything was quite good, but I preferred the salmon, cheese, and zucchini. Although I was full, I ended the meal with maple syrup crème brûlée. I would definitely recommend the restaurant if you're in Petit Champlain!

We enjoyed a grazing dinner on the patio. Three friends shared the fondue and salmon gravlax, and we all ordered French onion soup and mocktails. Friendly service and an enjoyable evening.

Excellent cuisine. I had the Atlantic Cod with vegetables and my mom had the French onion soup. It was a great French cuisine experience, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

Always make a point of having a meal or snack at Le Lapin. The staff and food are great.

My husband really really really wanted to try this place. We went for lunch as all of the dinner reservations were filled for the night we were staying in town. We started with a nice charcuterie style plate. We really enjoyed everything on this plate. There was a lovely duck ham that we kept seeing on a lot of the menus in Quebec City this week. We also had some foie gras, rabbit rillet, local cheese, smoked salmon and some pickled vegetables and olives to compliment the meats and cheeses. My husband had rabbit stew would she enjoyed a lot. I had a lovely pork chop cooked to perfection with a white sauce and vegetables. My son had poutine with rabbit and he did not like it as much. He's not a mustard fan and he didn't love the devil's sauce choice either but maybe he just doesn't like rabbit. We were too full for dessert but we would definitely come back to this place there were a lot of other choices beside rabbit on the menu.

A very small and charming restaurant that specializes in rabbit. I was intrigued by it when we walked by it so I made reservations. Good thing I did. It's a very popular place, and with good reason. Attentive staff, and delicious food. We ordered the "Taste of Quebec" appetizer and then I ordered the rabbit saddle and Keith got the cassoulet of rabbit leg and duck sausage. Everything was delicious. It was my first time eating rabbit, and at the risk of sounding cliche, it tasted like chicken. Charming place!

Went on Wednesday 4pm No lines, was able to get a table outside. Staff speaks both English and français. It has gender neutral bathrooms Ordered the tasting plates that has the following: Applewood-smoked duck breast, house-smoked salmon, rabbit "rillettes", brandy country pâté, Le Fin Renard cheese, roasted garlic and pickled vegetables. This was pretty good, I like how they balance the saltiness with jam or some kinda of sweet sauce. Rabbit poutine: rabbit is a bit similar to chicken or duck, the fries are not too dry, gravy is not too salty, the cheese curbs are light and a bit blend, so doesn't feel that heavy

It was my first time trying rabbit so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I heard really good things about this restaurant in the past. I absolutely loved the food - it is now one of my favourites in Quebec City. The Rabbit Pot Pie was amazing. Our waiter was also very helpful and gave us many recommendations! I would recommend booking a spot beforehand if you were hoping to sit inside. There is no booking for patio seating, so we were able to get a spot outside.

Our last meal in Quebec City before heading to Ottawa. I thought of this place because my bestie loves duck and rabbit. They ate known for their rabbit. The wait was 10mins, not bad at all. We were seated outside in their patio - super cute! All our food was DELICIOUS!! What we ordered: Soup of the day - veggie puree Rabbit poutine Applewood smoked duck Pasta lemon basil sauce with roasted vegetables and crumbled goat cheese

Loved the food. Service was very attentive and friendly. Ambiance was quirky and comfortable. Love it.

The restaurant is extremely small and crowded. Our waitress was absolutely delightful, but she was obviously overworked. One of our friends asked to buy a wine glass as a souvenir. She has been going through extreme trauma and wanted the glass as a reminder she could be happy again. I felt it was short sided that the owner refused. I am guessing my friend would have been willing to pay multiple times the cost of the glass. Overall, the restaurant did not meet my expectations.

When you walk into the small little restraint that is Le Lapin Sauté you know exactly what you are getting. You are immediately greeted by the warm friendly staff. Everyone is happy having a great time and a great meal! This side of Paris it's hard to get good country French, but you can get it here. The food gras is solid and the country pate is likewise great. But the star is the rabbit rillettes, and absolute delicacy! You can have these on the duck and rabbit platter as well as duck and rabbit leg, smoked duck breast, and some sides. Get it, you will not disappointed. We also shared the rabbit poutine, perfect combination if you are looking for a just slightly upscale poutine! For desert we had the pouched pear, which was wonderfully tender and bursting with flavor. The Apple and maple cake was likewise very nice, and complemented well with the house made hot chocolate

Good restaurant in the heart of Old Quebec town nestled among picturesque stone and brick buildings. This restaurant had a quaint interior and a beautiful porch facing the courtyard where sometimes there's live music. We waited about 30 minutes in the evening and sat on the outdoor patio. Most of their dishes have rabbit and they're delicious. The rabbit meat is cooked perfectly and very moist. We had the pasta with rabbit and goat cheese and the rabbit pot pie. Both really delicious and filling. You typically need to get a reservation but they do accept walk ins. Be ready to wait at least 30 minutes to be seated. However you can put your name and phone number down and they'll text you. It's very convenient, especially since you can browse around the shops and sit down in the restaurant / bar across the street to have a drink.

Everything was delicious, especially the poutine and the Quebec Discoveries. Also, special shout out to Pasquale, the waiter who works out on the patio. Such a friendly guy, took good care of us and made us feel welcome on our first night in Quebec City. Merci beaucoup!

Most highly recommend, just as a local acquaintance Simon most highly recommended to us. Fun, comfortable atmosphere and enjoyable vibe with a variety of background music and lots of rabbit themed artwork. 4.5 stars for food quality, as in Tuscany we've had better sauce with rabbit. Service is excellent, courteous, friendly, and attentive. What a great place!

It was a very busy restaurant, I do recommend making a reservation or you can come once they are opened. Usually, people don't make a reservation or eat dinner at that time. So definitely, come early if you didn't make a reservation. We didn't make a reservation and we went there when it first open and then it got busy as the night went on. The food were decent nothing to praise about. The most significant food on the menu was their rabbit meat. The meat didn't have much of flavor to it and it was cold on top of fried potato called poutine. Their French onion soup was a bit disappointing. Cover in thick layer of cheese and not much onion and soup and a large piece of baguette in it. The cold cuts, Quebec discoveries was good comparing to the others with varieties of different meats. The restaurant was very small and not much of room to move around. It is not the best for large group of people.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Le Lapin Saute in old city Quebec. The overall space is small, but quite cozy and comfortable. Our server was very warm, welcoming and attentive, and with thanks to her terrific recommendations, we had the sampler platter consisting of various French delicacies including rabbit and duck. Onion soup for an appetizer is a must. As it was my wife's birthday, the staff surprised her with a delicious creme brulee for dessert... complete with a celebratory sparkler! A wonderful experience, and we'll look forward to another visit on our next trip to Quebec!
