Yelp
One of the biggest tourist destinations in La Jolla and that's a good thing, but also a small hindrance for locals. Even though the store brings more tourism to La Jolla, you should be forewarned of the crowded summer months, tourist peak time.
I love all the pink, the fluff, the showmanship of the chocolates. This is the place you want to come in La Jolla for macarons. In particular, notable macarons are:
* Sicilian Pistachio - Deep, intense pistachio cream
* Framboise Raspberry - Reminds me of the candy I had
as a kid, always a nice remembrance.
* Colombian Coffee - My favorite! Intense coffee cream
* Coconut - Rich creamy flecks of toasted coconut
* Gingerbread - A rich gingerbread cookie
* Black Currant - Rich crushed currants, smooth
* Strawberry Key Lime - Blend of the two is incredible
* Bubble Gum - Eh. Skip this one or save it for the kids.
All the macarons at Le Macaron embody a light, fluffy cream inside. The fruit macarons have crushed, naturally-sweet fruit intertwined within the cream. These are the best macarons I've found within San Diego.
Le Macaron also has handmade chocolates, including caramels and small chocolate Eiffel Towers wrapped in several colored foils. If those don't fancy your appetite there are pastries, which include four kinds of eclairs, croissants and cakes. If those don't dazzle you, there are European-style beverages, French gelato, and cute Paris-themed trinkets.
Seating is comprised of cute little cafe tables and a luxurious fluffy couch in the back, if you can manage to snag that. Free WiFi, so you can have a cuppa cuppa and relax for awhile. People watching outside is appealing, as is the partial view to The Cove.
Le Macaron is a franchise, and applications are available. Products are made elsewhere and shipped daily to each Le Macaron location.
I was going to ding them one star for price, but thought better of it because these are "little luxuries that make people smile". And they are delicious!
Le Macaron can keep on dazzling me!
