Montreal’s Best Restaurants for Gluten-Free Eaters | Eater Montreal

"A haven for gluten-free, pastry-loving folks, Le Marquis’ croissants, baguettes, mille-feuilles, and more are all made with quality rice, flax or lentil flours. Le Marquis has two locations on the island, but thanks to their delivery option (which is free for orders over $50 within Montreal), it’s not necessary to leave the house to get your hands on the goods." - Holly Tousignant

Checked out Le Marquis Sans Gluten on an early Friday morning. They have two other locations in town (Boisbriand and Castelnau). Everything is gluten free; croissants, tarts, cake slices, madelines, crepes and croissant sandwiches. Tried a croissant ($3.99), croissant chocolat ($4.75) and amandine ($5.25). Texture is slightly dry but pastries are larger than the typical GF offerings. 3.5 stars.

I went to Le Marquis and ordered a cappuccino, which was really delicious—creamy and perfectly balanced. I decided to pair it with an almond chocolate croissant, but unfortunately, it wasn’t to my liking. The chocolate inside was cold and didn’t taste very good, and the almond paste also didn’t have a great flavor. I should also highlight the kindness of the gentleman who served me, which made the experience pleasant. Additionally, it’s interesting that their pastries are gluten-free, which is a nice option for those who need it. Overall, the coffee was excellent, and the service was great, but the almond chocolate croissant didn’t meet my expectations.

This is a wonderful place to find gluten free croissants and sandwiches that truly are made very very well! There is also an amazing selection of baked goods and other gluten free and vegan desserts as well. Will definitely stop by again next time in Montreal

Amazing! I tried a Paris-Brest and had a hard time believing it was gluten free! The Mille-feuille was flaky with a delicious pastry cream. The pastries were all beautiful to look at, too. Wish I had discovered this place sooner on my trip but also glad I didn’t or I would have really over-indulged!

This place is so good, I think they’re lying about it not being gluten free…but, they aren’t! We had the turkey, egg, and cheese croissant and it was better than the real thing. We thought we had the best GF croissant until we ate this one. Super flaky and buttery!

Nice staff and good with asking about allergens! They have 3 baked goods that are vegan (also GF). Both the taste noisette and raspberry tarts were good but I prefer the chocolate mousse. I like how they list ingredients on labels!

The croissant sandwiches are incredibly flaky and buttery, while the coffee is fragrant and strong. This was a perfect start to our mornings exploring the city. Can't wait to go back!

Absolutely amazing gluten free options for someone with celiac. Had the turkey and cheese croissantwich, the almond croissant and some pastries. You’d never be able to tell that they were gluten free. Definitely coming back the next time I’m in Montreal!
