Montreal’s Best Restaurants for Gluten-Free Eaters | Eater Montreal

"A haven for gluten-free, pastry-loving folks, Le Marquis’ croissants, baguettes, mille-feuilles, and more are all made with quality rice, flax or lentil flours. Le Marquis has two locations on the island, but thanks to their delivery option (which is free for orders over $50 within Montreal), it’s not necessary to leave the house to get your hands on the goods." - Holly Tousignant

I went to Le Marquis and ordered a cappuccino, which was really delicious—creamy and perfectly balanced. I decided to pair it with an almond chocolate croissant, but unfortunately, it wasn’t to my liking. The chocolate inside was cold and didn’t taste very good, and the almond paste also didn’t have a great flavor. I should also highlight the kindness of the gentleman who served me, which made the experience pleasant. Additionally, it’s interesting that their pastries are gluten-free, which is a nice option for those who need it. Overall, the coffee was excellent, and the service was great, but the almond chocolate croissant didn’t meet my expectations.

Had a delicious chocolatine here. It was quite dense but had just the right amount of layers and flakiness. I was hoping they might offer to warm it up slightly as it appeared to have been out all day, but it was still solid. All of their pastries were generously sized, and I hope to be back for one of their tasty-looking croissant sandwiches in the future.

Absolutely amazing gluten free options for someone with celiac. Had the turkey and cheese croissantwich, the almond croissant and some pastries. You’d never be able to tell that they were gluten free. Definitely coming back the next time I’m in Montreal!

Love that it’s all gf! We both had breakfast sandwiches on croissant. They were good but the croissant was a bit stale and dry. Would definitely go back and try again. The coffees were decent as well.

Incredible croissant. Was searching for good gluten free options in Montreal and this absolutely is one of the best I’ve ever had. Prices are great and the quality is even better. We got an almond chocolate croissant and some espresso. Was the perfect was to start our day. The croissant was flakey with distinct layers which is so rare in gluten free baking. Highly recommend stopping here if you can.

Everything served here is GF so no need to worry about cross contamination. We stopped in Wednesday morning for a croissant sandwich. The gentleman made them fresh for us on the spot. Portions were quite liberal and it was very good. The restaurant was in need of some tidying up but overall very good.

Highly recommend this excellent GF bakery! My daughter and I were visiting from the U.S. and tried a bunch of items. We haven’t had such delicious croissants since we were diagnosed with Celiac—the taste and texture were amazing. We brought a bunch of the half-baked croissants home with us and they were just as good. Will absolutely return next time we are in Montreal!
