Le Matafan

- Very friendly staff, they even got us dropped off at our hotel after our dinner! We really appreciated this, especially given it was Christmas night. - The food is ok. We were hoping for a tasting menu or something a bit more special. It’s à la carte and the flavours weren’t bad but also not remarkable. - We were ready to splurge on a special Christmas dinner, which we didn’t end up doing because the prices were quite reasonable. So the price & quality are a match. - The décor is… :(((. Quelle dommage to take such a gorgeous old building and decorate it with this inexplicable furniture by the beautiful fireplace. Then the fake plastic fireplace and the plastic Orchids, all taking away from the ambiance.

Much improved in the last year. Gone are the loud bus loads of Chinese tourists. We ate outside near the pool, this new space is lovely. The food and service very good.

The food was just okay. The steak was over cooked (see the gray rim) and the flavors of the other items were fine

Lamb/palenta and chocolate soufflé were absolutely excellent. Rabbit terrine as a starter was interesting. Pesto risotto needed to be a side, not a main course. A great fine dining experience.

Impeccable French cuisine in a cozy atmosphere! Beautiful presentation of food. Loved the amuse-bouche and mini-complimentary desserts. The lamb confit was to die for! Never had a more tender serving. Highly recommend if in Chamonix!!

Wouldn't give 1 star if I could. Landlady told us she was closed at 8 when she clearly wasn't. Took one look at us and said no. Avoid like the plague. Stinks like the worst french cheese without the delicious taste. Pewwwieee. Stinks.

Have been here both in summer and winter and matafan never fails to delight! The menu du jour is always a great steal for under 40 euros with starter form the kitchen and petite fours too. Service is excellent and decor is modern inside - make sure you reserve

Highly recommend this place if you visit Chamonix! We did a lunch menu for 35 euro pp and it was well worth it! This place is on Michelin guide and it opens a for lunch and dinner. Ambiance and service deserves one star from Michelin. I would come back!

Centrally located in Chamonix, Le Matafan is always a delightful experience. The bar area is a great place to start, for bubbles or cocktails. Then you can ease into the dining area, red, cozy, with its centre fireplace. Service is impecable, and the local dishes (farçon, a savoyard potatoes & prunes dish, to try!) share space with other classics like the excellent truffle risotto. Bread is perfect as it should be, and we enjoyed the chocolate dessert. A few sweat treats closed our meal with elegance.

One of our favorite dinner experiences in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc - the steak and fish were cooked to perfection, service was above the top!

After having a new years eve dinner at the restaurant 2 out of 7 is suffering from vomiting and diarrehea. Sorry to experience such poor outcome after struggling hard for booking in this restaurant. Never ever.!!!
