Le Moulin de l'Abbaye

"In this picturesque village where visitors can journey from prehistory to the Renaissance, this restaurant enjoys a truly stunning setting at the base of a cliff. This outbuilding of the Benedictine abbey of Brantôme also features a splendid terrace on the banks of the River Dronne, facing the town’s 16C angled bridge. Here, the chef’s fine, flavoursome cuisine is ably supported by a cast of superb ingredients, perfect cooking techniques and meticulous presentation. All in all, a venerable property with a contemporary and timeless charm." - Michelin Inspector

Great location. Lovely clean room facing the river, a delight to be woken up by the sound of the flowing water. Very friendly and competent staff.

A super room overlooking the river. Well equipped room. Very comfortable bed.||Reception excellent. We dined in the restaurant Au Fil du Temps and were the first diners in the restaurant. Very good food and service until the dessert course (50/60 minute wait). At this point our wine glasses were empty and we were out of water - nobody noticed! On settling the bill, the waitress asked how our meal was, and then turned her back 🙁

We really enjoyed our stay. Nice room, good size and bathroom had both tub and shower. Decor was a bit spartan but the views were hard to beat. Breakfast at the hotel is 22€ but well done and again…the views! Dog friendly too!

The hotel has a nice view of the river; however, it is an impersonal place.||Moreover, we gave them a bag of laundry to launder. This was an offered service. There was no posted or quoted price. At checkout, the bill was $165 Euros, about $185 USD. I paid under protest. This was about 8-10x the price it should have cost. I offered to compromise at $50 Euros. They refused any compromise. Finally, a receptionist I spoke with said she agreed with me, and on her own processed a modest refund.||I wouldn’t go there just to get a Michelin meal. An important point of travelling in rural France is to enjoy the friendly service, which we got at every other stay in the region.

The staff is exceptional. We received a room upgrade with a spa on the patio. We truly felt pampered! A wonderful dinner with a full moon made it spectacular. We loved it!

Very nice room. No elevator, although only one story up. Beautiful terrace, excellent service. Unfortunately, family with noisy children next door. The bed was 180 CM, which we very much appreciated. Writing more to satisfy ridiculous Trip Advisor minimum word requirement.

I stayed here after a horrible experience with another hotel. Special thanks to Audrey (i hope i have her name spelled correctly) She was very welcoming and did everything she could to give me the most beautiful feeling. And then there is the chef, of all the diners i had in my life with all kinds of restaurants, this was the most beautiful one. Do not hesitate to eat here, you won't regret it. A special thanks to the sommelier, 5 stars for her as well. I will certainly be back

A lovely place to stay where the staff are so friendly and helpful. ||The most glorious setting on the edge of the river. We were given an upgrade which was on the top floor of the house directly opposite the reception area. The stairs are quite narrow to get there, but our bags were swiftly taken there by the porter. The room was large and well appointed. ||We had a very relaxed breakfast overlooking the river which was served rather than self service. ||We didn’t eat in there restaurant as it is closed on a Monday and Tuesday but we did eat in one of their Bistros about 300 meters away which was a pleasant experience. ||All in all a lovely hotel where we had a joyful experience. ||||||

Yelp
Walking in Brantome we passed by this hotel and saw a group having snacks and cocktails in the back and couldn't resist stopping on a beautiful Wednesday (May -so right before peak period) around 6. Just another table besides us was occupied. Some ordered Champagne and some ordered the Champagne Cocktail-(Cognac, a Cointreau and bitters) first time trying this one and it was delicious! Views of the Dronne River, beautiful day and delicious drinks-what more could we ask for? Dinner menu looked enticing but we had already made reservations at another spot in town. Service was okay-took some time for our drinks to be ordered. Great spot for Cocktails and a view!
