The Best New Restaurants in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Located in the Warehouse District space that was the longtime home of Tommy’s Cuisine, where locals once decamped in the cozy dining rooms for standout Creole Italian staples, Le Moyne Bistro is turning the page with its polished traditional French menu. Heavy-hitters include a French onion soup made luxurious with veal stock and Gruyere cheese, and a duck confit served with local lima beans. Opened by the team behind Plates, Le Moyne’s debut comes hot on the heels of the opening of Maria’s Oyster and Wine Bar, its sister restaurant located in the adjoining space next door. Make the most of a night out with $1.50 happy hour oysters at Maria’s before moving on to dinner at Le Moyne. A long wine list and impressive cocktail menu make for good reasons to linger late over a meal." - Clair Lorell

Best New Restaurant Openings in New Orleans, April 2025 | Eater New Orleans

"A French bistro run by chef-partners Christian Hurst, Farrell Harrison, and Brian Weisnicht with general manager Tim Armstead; it sits next door to the team's other spot, Maria's Oyster & Wine Bar. Harrison and Weisnicht previously opened Plates together in 2023. Named for Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville (the French explorer known as the Father of Louisiana), the kitchen offers locally sourced takes on gold standards including blue crab au gratin and Gulf fish court-bouilllon with shrimp. Standouts include an outstanding beef tartare with chili oil and aioli, a French-centric wine list, and fresh bread and desserts from pastry chef Ryan McDougall." - Beth D’Addono

November 2025: Le Moyne bistro serves classic French food. The food was good, but not great. My expectations were high best on reviews, so I walked away slightly disappointed both with the food and service. For example, the bread was served without small bread plates, we had to put bread on the table cloth. It is a small detail, but felt lacking for a top rated restaurant. Note that bread was 8 dollars, otherwise bread was not served with the meal. We were not asked if we were there for a special occasion. We were. They did not ask, we did not tell. The music was Michael Jackson from start to the end of our dinner. The atmosphere would have been more special if the music was either French or New Orleans jazz. Everything was just so ordinary. I would not recommend this restaurant for a special occasion. I had blue crab appetizer, shrimp bisque, duck confit, and chocolate mousse. Shrimp bisque was a bit oversalted. The other dishes were fine. Overall experience not as good as I hoped.

This is a classic French restaurant, there is nothing New Orleans specific about it. Had the escargot in bone marrow, it was the best dish of the night. Followed it up with French onion soup, very good. My main course was the steak frites. The steak was chewy and I didn't love the sauce.

Traveled to New Orleans from Tampa and we have been trying all kinds of different restaurants. This one was our favorite so far. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with friendly service. We sat at the bar and Taylor and Will were so attentive to our every need. Had the onion soup, lobster bisque, duck confiet, and the snapper in the tomato broth. The duck confiet was my favorite, the soups were as delicious as they were traditional. If you are looking for an upscale restaurant with traditional French dining experience, I can not recommend this place enough. Thanks again Taylor and Will.

Le Moynes is a masterclass in French cuisine and presentation. The atmosphere is warm and sophisticated—perfect for a special evening. Every dish looked like it belonged in a culinary magazine, and the flavors more than lived up to the presentation. The menu has options for all tastes and preferences. The dessert was so good we forgot to take a picture! Do not skip on the brown butter banana cake! Service was impeccable - attentive, and deeply knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairings. This place is a must when in New Orleans! We will be back again!

Google
Le Moyne - Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Will & Asia Clark We absolutely loved everything about Le Moyne. From the food to the service and the warm and luxurious atmosphere, we would recommend this restraunt to anyone. We are already planning our next trip back! We started with the bread and butter a delicious hot house made sourdough bread. With our bread and before our main course we enjoyed cocktails and the French onion soup. The French onion soup is like drinking liquid gold, and I will be dreaming about it, until I get the chance to have it again. For main courses we had the Steak Frits and the Beef Short Rib each paired with a glass of wine. The Steak frits was amazing, the steak cooked to a perfect medium rare sitting in a delicious dark sauce, the frits were nice and crunchy without being hard and salted nicely. The beef short rib was especially tender just a gentle push of the fork and it was falling apart. The rib was paired with a delicious variety of root vegetables. To finish the evening we ended with desert the chocolate mouse which was just the right level of sweetness and complexity of other flavors, as well as the brown butter banana cake served with ice cream...chefs kiss! On top of this amazing meal the service was out of this world. Several servers helped us from efficiently taking our order and checking in on us, to laying out our napkins on our laps, even coming by before desert with a special tool to clear and crumbs from the table while we wait!

Mmm the food was soooo good! I can't wait to go back and try another special and have more delicious things! I've never had sweetbreads before, and I figured this would be the best place to try it. Omg it was so tender and the potatoes melted on your mouth. The whole dish was perfection. The service was great too. The tables around us were loud but the ambiance is pretty nice. This was a perfect post art walk dinner!

Google
Had an absolutely magical evening at Le Moyne tonight. Our server, Mike, was extremely well versed in the menu and gave great recommendations as well as phenomenal service! Michelin needs to visit this place because the food they're putting out is truly something to speak for. This newly established restaurant has created an atmosphere that is uniquely New Orleans, yet refined and in service and style. Cheers to the staff and chefs! Highly recommended!

What a fabulous dining experience! Celebrated a milestone birthday, and our server, Chief, was gracious and fun, and very attentive. Food was top notch and beautifully plated. Very pleased to have discovered Le Moyne.

Yelp
Le Moyne is one of the newest French restaurants in downtown Nola! I had a visit with some friends and we had a wonderful time! The space is really French inspired so the ambiance really put you in the French mood. We tried a few menu items -- The onion soup was delicious and one of the best I've had! Super good flavor and a lot of cheese! The bone marrow was alright. Nothing special and probably wouldn't order again. Mushroom Vol au Vent was amazing! Super tasty and great flavor. Loved the puff pastry with it. Green goddess salad -- really good too! Crunchy lettuce and a good dressing to salad ratio. Steak Frites was also a fan favorite! Steak was cooked perfectly and always love a French fry pairing! Overall, this spot should be on your list to checkout!

Yelp
Came here for dinner as part of the JASPA Conference that was in town. The environment, decor and customer service was great. The salad and main course was great. Rich in flavor and well worth the wait. Sadly, there was a long wait for dessert and the banana pudding was a let down. I would gladly go back again if I had the chance. It's in a great location.

Yelp
I am not sure if there was a staffing issue but our food took so long. We had appetizers first which took forever and then soup and/salad. Lastly our main course but it took forever. We didn't even want to eat it by the time it came out. And the food was cold. I was looking forward to dessert but we just wanted to leave. Due to the horrible service, we were unable to enjoy the food.

Yelp
Cannot say enough good things about this place. Service and food are always excellent. If you go, try the Vol au Vent - likely one of the best mushroom dishes you will ever try. My wife got the delicious short rib, and I got the steak frites, which were fantastic. The chocolate mousse and crème brûlée are also great. We even had a wobbly table, and the waiters were quick to notice and add a piece to even out the table. The only thing that bugged me was that we were charged for water, but didn't have the bottle sitting on our table. I saw other tables with the water they ordered, but not sure where that got lost in our order.

Yelp
Sister to Maria's, Le Moyne is special. Great wine list, fabulous service, gorgeous space.

Yelp
The ambience is great with beautiful wood columns and breathtaking artwork. The food is 10 out of 10 chef Christian design the menu gracefully. The carbonate, mushrooms and salads are delicious and are my favorites but everything was amazing. My 8 years old loved the duck. The drinks are beautiful made with high quality liquors. The service was very knowledgeable and respectful and very responsive.

Yelp
Had a private dinner here a few days ago and we all left impressed. The steak tartar was the best I had ever had. The shrimp soup was tomato based and was very tasty. The short rib was one of the best I have had in a long time. This place is very good.

Yelp
Think incredibly, non-fussy French cuisine and add updated, yet still traditional notes of New Orleans-style flare in a rustic, beautiful and very quaint bistro atmosphere and you're almost at Le Moyne sitting right where you are reading this review. Crab is my by far favorite seafood protein & I eat it everywhere. This place has a crab au gratin that's the very best I've ever had. And I've probably had it at over 75-90 restaurants globally when on the menu. This was over the top full of crab! I'm not a big raw meat guy, but the beef tartare I'll be ordering again! Simply delicious with chili oil and fresh horseradish. Wow! I always get the onion soup & steak frites are they are always superb. This time I went with the beef short ribs carbonnade. Game changer!!! I love short ribs and glad I moved on the menu for a different meal. So very flavorful and succulent of a dish. The black eye pea cassoulet (a delicious French typed bean & protein stew I grew up eating having a French mother) and the brown butter banana cake are perfection and with incredible wait staff the food, ambiance and service are why I'll be coming back more often to Le Moyne!

Yelp
Best meal we have had in a while, which says a lot being everywhere is great in NOLA. Highly recommended! Sat at the bar, Phillip was great. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. They did a beautiful job renovating. It's open and bright inside now. Check it out!

Yelp
Went for date night. Also their Coolinary Menu. Ambience, service and food spot on. Delightful evening. Staff not only accommodating but great suggestions . Worth another visit

Yelp
This place is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. First off it's beautiful. The decor is rustic and classy. The food is great (the bone marrow and escargot app is insane). The wine selection and cocktails also hold their own. Just a slam dunk of a restaurant.

Terry L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed everything about Le Moyne, but the gulf fish courtboullion was the best I have ever had.

Margo K.

Yelp
I will start with a positive: The food is really good. Negative: The staff appears overwhelmed. I hope the management can learn from this review as they do have a lot of things going for them. I was looking for a new great restaurant for my sister's very important birthday. Let's just say it's an important age that ends in a "0". I read the stellar review in Eater, along with a few others and was very excited. Especially since French food is our favorite! I made the reservation and in the memos expressed how incredibly important this birthday is for my sis. When I got the text to confirm, I reinforced in the comments how important this birthday is and I really wanted to make this special. When we arrived, the women at the front were great. They said happy birthday and made sure we had a lovely table by the window. That was at around 6:35. The waiter arrived to give us suggestions. Very nice, very professional. Then the evening took a turn. From then on we were at the table that everyone forgot about. The first round of drinks took a bit of time but I thought okay, they're getting busy. Then we ordered appetizers and another round. The apps took a really long time to arrive plus, they forgot about my sister's drink so I had to ask again. All night I had to wait to catch the waiter's eye whenever we wanted to order. The aps finally came out and they were great. Unfortunately, after that, we sat with our empty app plates on the table for a reallllly long time. We just piled them up in the middle of the table as we waited to order our main course. Because the apps and drinks took such a long time to arrive, we decided to skip soup/salads (I really wanted to try the soup) and go straight to the main course. When we ordered the main course, I also ordered bread to hold us over anticipating it would also take a lot of time. The bread never came. After about 50 minutes I went to the front to ask about our main course. It finally came out. We ate and decided to leave without a birthday desert because those 2 courses took 2 hours. I told the manager about our experience. I hope they get it together because the food is good. Just upset that I went so far out of my way to make this a special occasion and it was a disappointing flop. Can't get that important event back.
