The Best New Restaurants in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Located in the Warehouse District space that was the longtime home of Tommy’s Cuisine, where locals once decamped in the cozy dining rooms for standout Creole Italian staples, Le Moyne Bistro is turning the page with its polished traditional French menu. Heavy-hitters include a French onion soup made luxurious with veal stock and Gruyere cheese, and a duck confit served with local lima beans. Opened by the team behind Plates, Le Moyne’s debut comes hot on the heels of the opening of Maria’s Oyster and Wine Bar, its sister restaurant located in the adjoining space next door. Make the most of a night out with $1.50 happy hour oysters at Maria’s before moving on to dinner at Le Moyne. A long wine list and impressive cocktail menu make for good reasons to linger late over a meal." - Clair Lorell

Had an absolutely magical evening at Le Moyne tonight. Our server, Mike, was extremely well versed in the menu and gave great recommendations as well as phenomenal service! Michelin needs to visit this place because the food they're putting out is truly something to speak for. This newly established restaurant has created an atmosphere that is uniquely New Orleans, yet refined and in service and style. Cheers to the staff and chefs! Highly recommended!

What a fabulous dining experience! Celebrated a milestone birthday, and our server, Chief, was gracious and fun, and very attentive. Food was top notch and beautifully plated. Very pleased to have discovered Le Moyne.

Best meal I’ve had in New Orleans in years. The building is beautiful. Our server Juan was amazing. French Onion Soup, Crab au Gratin, Beef Tartare, Steak Frites, and the bread service all 10/10. Great new spot. Come eat!

Went to Le Moyne for their opening weekend. The atmosphere is cozy and the food is amazing. My favorites were the mushroom starter, the French onion soup, black eyed peas, and the short rib. Highly recommend the creme brulee (that alone is worth the trip).

Quaint. Small menu on the pricier side. Food was extremely salty but brought to the right temperature. Service was slow even though the restaurant was nearly empty on a Wednesday. Would recommend the Vol Au Vent, Beef Tartare and the Onion Soup.

What an amazing place. Their French onion soup will be the reason I return time and time again. Hands down the best I have had (including in France). The service was great and the drinks were wonderful.

My wife and I had a great dinner here last night. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly despite being a white tablecloth restaurant. The food was excellent across the board. Standouts include the frisee salad, steak frites, and the best creme brulee I've ever eaten. Highly recommend!

The best thing about this place was the service. Especially for a Brand new place. Our waiter was attentive and on point. He seemed to know the food really well and even though we sat in the back dining room (we were the only people in there cause one of our party is a little hard of hearing) he was around whenever we needed something, kept our wine flowing, and the bussers kept our table cleared. The 4 of us all got the 3 course Prix fixe which is a great value. Food wise I would say the duck confit and the Mushroom vol au vent was great. The steak frites was basic but good. The Oeuf appetizer was unexpected. Lots of blue crab but the very cold sauce was a bit overwhelming..I think it would be better room temp. The sorbet at the end was delicious. My husband ordered the rum raisin ice cream and really liked it. I would give them another try and order some if the other things on the menu and sit in the more festive front room next time.

Yelp
Le Moyne is one of the newest French restaurants in downtown Nola! I had a visit with some friends and we had a wonderful time! The space is really French inspired so the ambiance really put you in the French mood. We tried a few menu items -- The onion soup was delicious and one of the best I've had! Super good flavor and a lot of cheese! The bone marrow was alright. Nothing special and probably wouldn't order again. Mushroom Vol au Vent was amazing! Super tasty and great flavor. Loved the puff pastry with it. Green goddess salad -- really good too! Crunchy lettuce and a good dressing to salad ratio. Steak Frites was also a fan favorite! Steak was cooked perfectly and always love a French fry pairing! Overall, this spot should be on your list to checkout!

Yelp
Came here for dinner as part of the JASPA Conference that was in town. The environment, decor and customer service was great. The salad and main course was great. Rich in flavor and well worth the wait. Sadly, there was a long wait for dessert and the banana pudding was a let down. I would gladly go back again if I had the chance. It's in a great location.

Yelp
I am not sure if there was a staffing issue but our food took so long. We had appetizers first which took forever and then soup and/salad. Lastly our main course but it took forever. We didn't even want to eat it by the time it came out. And the food was cold. I was looking forward to dessert but we just wanted to leave. Due to the horrible service, we were unable to enjoy the food.

Yelp
The ambience is great with beautiful wood columns and breathtaking artwork. The food is 10 out of 10 chef Christian design the menu gracefully. The carbonate, mushrooms and salads are delicious and are my favorites but everything was amazing. My 8 years old loved the duck. The drinks are beautiful made with high quality liquors. The service was very knowledgeable and respectful and very responsive.

Yelp
Think incredibly, non-fussy French cuisine and add updated, yet still traditional notes of New Orleans-style flare in a rustic, beautiful and very quaint bistro atmosphere and you're almost at Le Moyne sitting right where you are reading this review. Crab is my by far favorite seafood protein & I eat it everywhere. This place has a crab au gratin that's the very best I've ever had. And I've probably had it at over 75-90 restaurants globally when on the menu. This was over the top full of crab! I'm not a big raw meat guy, but the beef tartare I'll be ordering again! Simply delicious with chili oil and fresh horseradish. Wow! I always get the onion soup & steak frites are they are always superb. This time I went with the beef short ribs carbonnade. Game changer!!! I love short ribs and glad I moved on the menu for a different meal. So very flavorful and succulent of a dish. The black eye pea cassoulet (a delicious French typed bean & protein stew I grew up eating having a French mother) and the brown butter banana cake are perfection and with incredible wait staff the food, ambiance and service are why I'll be coming back more often to Le Moyne!

Yelp
Had a private dinner here a few days ago and we all left impressed. The steak tartar was the best I had ever had. The shrimp soup was tomato based and was very tasty. The short rib was one of the best I have had in a long time. This place is very good.

Yelp
Best meal we have had in a while, which says a lot being everywhere is great in NOLA. Highly recommended! Sat at the bar, Phillip was great. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. They did a beautiful job renovating. It's open and bright inside now. Check it out!

Yelp
This place is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. First off it's beautiful. The decor is rustic and classy. The food is great (the bone marrow and escargot app is insane). The wine selection and cocktails also hold their own. Just a slam dunk of a restaurant.

Yelp
I will start with a positive: The food is really good. Negative: The staff appears overwhelmed. I hope the management can learn from this review as they do have a lot of things going for them. I was looking for a new great restaurant for my sister's very important birthday. Let's just say it's an important age that ends in a "0". I read the stellar review in Eater, along with a few others and was very excited. Especially since French food is our favorite! I made the reservation and in the memos expressed how incredibly important this birthday is for my sis. When I got the text to confirm, I reinforced in the comments how important this birthday is and I really wanted to make this special. When we arrived, the women at the front were great. They said happy birthday and made sure we had a lovely table by the window. That was at around 6:35. The waiter arrived to give us suggestions. Very nice, very professional. Then the evening took a turn. From then on we were at the table that everyone forgot about. The first round of drinks took a bit of time but I thought okay, they're getting busy. Then we ordered appetizers and another round. The apps took a really long time to arrive plus, they forgot about my sister's drink so I had to ask again. All night I had to wait to catch the waiter's eye whenever we wanted to order. The aps finally came out and they were great. Unfortunately, after that, we sat with our empty app plates on the table for a reallllly long time. We just piled them up in the middle of the table as we waited to order our main course. Because the apps and drinks took such a long time to arrive, we decided to skip soup/salads (I really wanted to try the soup) and go straight to the main course. When we ordered the main course, I also ordered bread to hold us over anticipating it would also take a lot of time. The bread never came. After about 50 minutes I went to the front to ask about our main course. It finally came out. We ate and decided to leave without a birthday desert because those 2 courses took 2 hours. I told the manager about our experience. I hope they get it together because the food is good. Just upset that I went so far out of my way to make this a special occasion and it was a disappointing flop. Can't get that important event back.
