All the Best Places to Eat Haitian Food in Montreal | Bon Appétit

"Opened in 2017 by the same owners as the market, this 60-seat sit-down restaurant provides a more formal dining alternative to the original take-out spot while continuing to showcase traditional Haitian dishes in a relaxed, restaurant-style setting." - ByTerence Trouillot

Incredible Haitian food in the area. It’s close to a metro and a bus stop. Great selection of food and reasonably priced (especially since you get so much food!) you can buy their pikliz for take out in a nice jar. Service is nice. Would recommend having the griot!

We attended a party in the private room upstairs. Goat (cabrit) was delicious. Pork (griot) pieces were either dry or full of fat. Portions are small. Pikliz is served in their trademark onion form instead of the traditional cabbage way.

Very beautiful place. Tasty food and good service!

The food is good. The service is lacking. There's never enough serving staff to provide your plate in timely manner. The waitresses are inexperienced and lack professionalism. I suggest more staff when there's a group reserves for a party. 2 waitresses for a group of 40 is not enough. Training in customer service would be profitable.

Despicable place. I had 2 horrible experiences there and don't recommend it to anyone. The place looks nice and cozy but that's about all it's got for it. First time there, employees were rude and lacked politeness. The food was just ok... which doesn't comply with the price I paid for it. Griot was very dry as if had been reheated in the oven. Made the terrible mistake of giving it a second chance and ordering it online. It took forever to arrive, the food was cold and disgusting... just not edible and I had to throw it away. I think most people think like me when I find food quality and service more important than looks. In Montreal region there are several other Haitian restaurants which are cheaper, the food is way better and most important, you'll be greeted with smiles and polite people.

I went there with a friend of mine the lady taking the order was very rude and franckly had an attitude problem from the moment we came in. I chose to ignore her cause I wanted to avoid a confrontation which still happened at the end. She definitely needs some kind of training in customer service. Haitians are the worst in customer service wherever they go.

Amazing food, amazing service. It was a slow Saturday morning, and my mother and I had such a great time! There aren't many great Haitian restaurants around, this one is a gem!!

Absolutely despicable! We used to be big fans of Méli Mélo Néo. Our family being part Haitian, we went out of our way to recommend their business and bring friends to their restaurant. Unfortunately we will not be returning and will tell our friends and family to avoid this place at all cost! Tonight we called to place a take out order only to be told rudely that they will not take the order. After we presented to the restaurant and ordered in person, the manager Marie-Julia singled me out in front of another customer and told me that it's her right to not take my order because it's her restaurant and she can do whatever she wants. She essentially told us that she did not care for our business. I ignored her and went to the dining room with my 3 month-old baby. A waitress, Emilia, chased me out, telling me that I was not allowed to sit in the dining room because I had ordered take out. When I told her that I did not appreciate her lack of professionalism, the waitress had to audacity to ask me to repeat in French so that she could talk back to me! "Parlez-moi en français pour que je vous réponde!" My husband tried to de-escalate the situation but the manager started yelling! We asked for our money back and will never return again. Emilia even cursed us on our way out! Such class - they don't deserve our business, or any business at all! Update: The previous reviews already pointed out the poor service and the waste of time caused by their refusal to take phone orders. Instead of taking in the constructive criticism to improve, the owner and service staff let their ego get the best of them. Arguing with customers is never acceptable. Unfortunately for them, a bad reputation is hard to overcome.

Yelp
So many people have suggested this place. The fact that it's a bit out of my way I've decided to finally order from Uber eats. As a native Haitian I was very disappointed. The quality wasn't there. The taste; mmh meh. The worst is that I found a paper staple in the meat. Like how's that even possible? Imagine if I didn't separate the meat before eating. It would've been a disaster.

Yelp
Absolutely despicable, total lack of service and professionnalism! The owner Marie-Julia "Joujou" Baptiste refused to take our order, yelled at us in front of another customer and clearly told us that she was not interested in our business. Why? Because we called to order takeout and their takeout counter apparently does not take phone orders - absurd! When we tried to tell her nicely that taking phone orders would increase her business, she exploded, telling us that she can do what she wants! Instead of taking the constructive criticism to improve, Baptiste let her ego get the best of her. Arguing with customers is never acceptable. Unfortunately for her, a bad reputation is hard to overcome.
