Grand Hotel Nord Pinus | Best places to stay in Provence

"Located in the heart of Arles, the Nord Pinus is part of the city’s history; it even has columns from a Roman temple embedded in its facade. The favourite of visiting bullfighters, its clients in the 1950s included Picasso, Cocteau, Hemingway and John Houston. Its public areas and rooms, furnished with antiques, are steeped with history and charm. If there are no toreros (bullfighters) in town, ask for room No 10, the enormous bullfighter’s room, with its sublimely over-the-top mirror, chandelier, private balcony and antique bathroom. Throw in helpful, switched-on staff, and you have a delightful choice for a luxurious, central stay. " - Dana Facaros

We went for dinner, since the hotel is under renovation. When I booked online, it said it was full, then an hour later I got confirmed for the time. In fact, when we got there, it wasn’t even half full. We sat on the town square, which was lovely, until it started to rain. Unlike all the other restaurants, they had no parasols, so we got soaked. The chef loves garlic, tho it tastes like the prechopped sort out of a jar, which is nasty. My pasta had so much of it I couldn’t taste the truffles. And the dish was watery—like half full of pasta water—making for a soggy, garlicky mess. They tout on the website that they have a fancy pants chef. I cook better at home. Avoid.

We had dinner at this wonderful hotel, sitting in the square, the hotel inside is a lovely mix of old and new, the service is excellent and the food is delicious.

Fantastic restaurant! Warm and welcoming service paired with a cozy atmosphere. The food was outstanding—every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. The dessert was the perfect finale. Highly recommend for a delightful dining experience!

The warm, kind and competent staff made us feel like we were visiting family in Provence. The rooms have beautiful high ceilings, the lighting is cozy, and bathtub was sparkling clean with steaming hot water. Historically significant place. But above all, it's about the staff. Thank you to everyone--restaurant, housekeeping, reception, bar--top notch. Thank you!

Yelp
The hotel where Picasso, Gogan, an Vincent stayed. The woman I reception was very helpful and refused to take a tip. I can't be more happy.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay here in September. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was nice with a modern bathroom. In the evenings we sat outside on their terrace with a drink and watched the people stroll by. Only downside is that a simple breakfast is not included in the proud room fee.
