Le Normandie - Review - Montmartre - Paris - The Infatuation

"It’s easy to walk past le Normandie’s shabby façade that looks a bit lost to time. Don’t. This spot is the endangered old-school bistro of your dreams. In the small dining room where nearly every seat offers a view of the gorgeous wooden bar, just three ever-changing appetizers, two mains, and two desserts are offered in hearty portions, perfect for restoring your energy after hiking the hill. The juicy terrine is a must, paired with cornichons and guindillas, and the veal steak is a steal at €19, served with a tumble of al dente carrots gilded with a ginger-scented jus. If you thought this place couldn’t get any more charming, it’s open seven days a week and has an unbeatable, €20 prix fixe lunch deal." - Emily Monaco

I’ve had three visits here and enjoyed them immensely. The first time it was so packed I ate at the bar and it all still felt very convivial. For the next visits I made sure to reserve in advance. I never regret it. The food is excellent, the vibe is informal and the enthusiasm is real. I’m going back, obviously.

so so grateful we came across this spot. I’m celiac and 1000% recommend to anyone looking for safe gluten free options. the server was immediately knowledgeable about celiac disease, the menu is well marked with allergens, and he was able to explain that bread is kept separate from the kitchen (he even put it on a separate table for my partner when he brought out our food). the food was incredible and such a great deal for the price. traveling while celiac can be tough and this place truly made my trip. thank you!!

You can choose from today's menu which is written in French but the staff can explain you in English. We ordered 1 starter and 2 main dishes and they were all tasty.

Delicious place with short, but frequently rotating menu. Waiters ate very nice and helpful. Food is truly delicious and there's a broad selection of amazing french wines.

Hidden gem near Montmartre! The food was fresh and delicious. The menu changes daily. It’s a small bistro with a lovely atmosphere and the service was on point!

Great place to dine at. The cod melts in your mouth, and it blends really well with the sweet potatoes. Flavors were on point. Staff was very friendly as well. Would highly recommend.

A rating this high for any restaurant should be taken with some caution. The restaurant was OK but there are better places in Montmartre. We had the sea bass for main which was nice and no complaints, although some might want it cooked in less butter. The desert was OK - a small slice of fruit tart. My main gripe was the starter wasn't very good. It was a squid salad but the squid rings were 'reshaped squid' from a pack (you can always tell as the squid rings were perfectly rounded). Although this is not uncommon these days, it is a bit disappointing. The meal was OK overall, but I wouldn't have the starter again. Full marks for the pleasant staff. Very attentive and helpful, and the house wine was passable. The other thing to mention is the restaurant is positioned right next to the local traders, and if you're in the conservatory section at the front, you get the traders working right next to you. which can be a bit off-putting. Nothing the restaurant can do but I would ask to be seated inside at market times! Let's say it's a 3.5 out of 5 from me.
