"A vibrant colour scheme and an unrivalled view of the lake depict this smart, trendy restaurant which serves finely crafted bistronomic fare: foie gras and duck breast; fillet of roast John Dory with seaweed butter; Brittany shortcrust with exotic marmalade." - Michelin Inspector

Would definitely stay again but some elements need refining to truly reach that 5 star experience. ||Pros: |- valet car parking service included |- the landscaping & decor |- the lake front access, pool & spa |- hotel staff were generally very nice. The valet guys were exceptionally kind and helpful. ||Cons: |- cleaning service was not to the level I’d expect of this hotel |- the rooms were gorgeous but a little small although the views were AMAZING|- the restaurant was extremely overpriced. I find it “foutage de gueule” to charge 37 for breakfast buffet and minimum 59 for dinner mains that leave you wanting more. |- the restaurant also is extremely hot. Though the fully glass room with the sights on lake Annecy is gorgeous, you’re essentially being cooked alive while paying what I’d consider too much for what it is. |- no elevator to the beach & pool area leaving you to walk down several flights of stairs. - they explained it was because it was impossible to retrofit the building but I’m sure an external elevator can be installed around the corner (out of sight) of the view — for reference, at our home we were quoted approximately $100k for this so perhaps it’s a cost the palace de menthon does not want to take. Or they should run golf carts regularly that can pick up guests. We traveled with a baby and no access to the beach / pool made maneuvering the stairs + gravel very difficult with a stroller. ||Overall, I would stay again but I would not go expecting a true 5 star experience and I think the only thing that made it feel close was the valet service lol.

This hotel is great and extremely average all at the same time. The rooms are fine, the location is amazing (you can get a great sunset from the Eastern side of European lakes) and the views from the restaurant and lakeside sunbeds were lovely. However there were a few things that they fell short on - we stayed there in the last week of June, it was beautiful weather yet because they don’t count it as high season until July, the beach bar was shut (unless they have corporate events), and their bar in the hotel itself doesn’t open until 3pm. So if you want an Aperol Spritz at midday, you have to go to their fine dining restaurant (no good if you’re sunbathing at the lakeside). The fine dining restaurant is average, the food was under seasoned and they serve a basket of bread with no plates, butter or olive oil, then their waiters have to scrape crumbs off the table if you’ve made a mess. The waiter recommended a local wine, but it was not good and shouldn’t have been anywhere near this menu. Just because it’s local doesn’t mean it’s good. Also the bar tables outside need some shade, no one sat there when we visited as the area with parasols was reserved for corporate hospitality. There was uncollected rubbish on side tables too. We felt that as we weren’t there in high season, the hotel was only paying attention to the corporate guests. So if you (the hotel) don’t want to bother with couples/families, just use your hotel for corporate events - but bear in mind some of those couples may have been scouting the hotel for the future. I recommend if you’re not going to open the beach bar when it’s 35 degrees celsius, maybe convert one of those golf carts the staff go around in and have a drinks cart… Coca Cola/orange juice/beer/wine/cocktails/snacks - no one was drinking or eating at the lakeside as they couldn’t be bothered to walk up the steps to the hotel, or it was before 3pm. For heaven’s sake make it easy for people to spend money with you, we spent far more money in the local bars and restaurants than we did at the hotel!

We loved our stay at this hotel. The staff were lovely and the location on the lake was so beautiful. The only small negatives were to do with food. The breakfast buffet was good but the fruit bowl with berries was often nearly empty and one day there were no berries at all. Bananas were too old. It seems there was a problem with making sure enough was ordered . Other fruit was whole and difficult to eat as part of breakfast. We had dinner one night at the restaurant. While our entree was excède flet the mains let down the meal especially at the prices being charges. Two of the 3 options were not gastronomique and very ordinary.

The Le Palace De Menthon is an outstanding Belle Epoque era grand hotel renovated to an extremely high standard. From the moment you step into the entrance foyer you are ushered into another world of opulence from a bygone age. Our room was marvellous with a lake view...and the location of the hotel itself being on Lake Annecy is a sight to behold. The breakfast area was under renovation, and regrettably not available for use during our four night stay. Overall, our stay here was incredible. We look forward to staying here again!

The building is very impressive and the views are spectacular. The food in the restaurant was good but there are not enough tables for all hotel residents so, unless you book, you may be left with room service or the bar as the only option for a meal. Sadly, the service and facilities didn’t match up to the price.

Exquisite hotel on the lake. Elegant and sophisticated and yet warm and inviting. We felt like royalty. Superb restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Amazing views. Superior staff who anticipate every need. . All for a great value. We would love to stay there again.

We loved our stay. The rooms were luxurious and quiet. The staff were friendly, although not extremely. Which is fine, as the hotel and spa are gorgeous and you spend most of your time either swimming or relaxing! Would love to stay here again.

A real sense of class, quality and comfort. The room was well apportioned and views from there and around the hotel are great. Staff were helpful and the chef was accommodating to dietary needs. Great facilities and perfect for work and play.

Yelp
Set in an idyllic spot overlooking lake Annecy, this is the perfect retreat for a week-end. Everything here is fine, although I have to say that while the rooms are very sobre with regards to the hotel's standing and price, the swimming pool is one of the most beautiful I've seen in my life. The restaurant is also great, although some little imperfections (typos in the menu, careless waiters, prevent it from being a true gem, and hence does not make the 5 stars I would have otherwise granted it.
