The food was as bland and bored as the decor. For me to say food is bland, as someone from the Midwest, should tell you what you need to know.
The only people enjoying the atmosphere and evening appeared to be the young boy and his dad playing checkers together, which, sadly, was the highlight of the evening.
We had the 8 course tasting menu with wine paring. I have never been more disappointed or unimpressed by food.
After the pre-appetizers and bread, nobody looked excited or even pleased with their courses, we certainly weren’t. There was nothing exciting about the dishes, especially the flavors. The trout was fishy and bland. The pigeon was chewy and bland. The texture of the squid was the oddest I’ve ever had and the flavors were mediocre. Even the chocolate dessert was fishy, as it had anchovies in it.
The wine was good and the staff were attentive. That is, until our courses were complete and we politely mentioned that we were not impressed or overly pleased with the experience. Then we were ignored, with empty water and it took quite a while to flag anyone down to get our check.
Sadly, a very disappointing experience.
