We came here based on the Michelin Guide.
It did not disappoint.
First the food.
The bread and butter were outstanding. Strangely many of the places we went to in France didn’t have this staple. This place do and did it very well.
The ceviche inspired dish was outstanding. Beautifully presented. Contrasting colours and textures. Popping vibrancy. And tailors flavour.
We then had the pork belly with a jalapeño sauce. Yes. A jalapeño sauce. I did not know what to expect but it was fantastic. The sauce had a beautiful level of tart to cut through the pork belly fat.
The salmon was also beautiful.
And then of course the Brest dessert. Its signature. It’s deliciously rich. The second dessert was beautifully creative. And presented impeccably.
Now the ambience.
We couldn’t find the restaurant at first. Because it’s inside the station and so not what you expect!
Stations aren’t known for their beauty, calmness, elegance. So, that made the experience slightly odd and unexpected.
But.
Stepping back, I think there is a beautiful accessibility that comes from the restaurant being in the station, challenging the idea that food in stations and transit points needs to be fast, cheap and basic. This restaurant shows that it doesn’t.
Make sure you visit.
