The Best Sandwiches in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"If it’s a European train stop-style sandwich you’re after, look no further than Uptown bakery La Boulangerie, and its delectable menu of sandwiches served on crusty baguette or croissant. Le Parisien is a classic — butcher ham, salted butter, Comté cheese, and cornichons on baguette. The chicken salad sandwich and smoked salmon sandwich, as well as the turkey, all compete with the ham as the best on the menu." - Beth D’Addono

I just tried this place and absolutely loved it! I had two croissants, one pistachio and one Nutella with strawberries and both were amazing. Super fresh, flaky, and full of flavor. The pistachio one was rich but not too sweet, and the Nutella-strawberry combo was perfection. Definitely coming back!

Such a lovely little café! Tyler was the sweetest taking our order and made us feel so welcomed. We got a yummy cappuccino and the Nutella croissant — absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to come back

Staying at the Edison Hotel, this place is just a few steps away….perfect spot to get a double espresso with honey (aka San Jose Carl) and an oatmilk latte….the staff is friendly, prompt, and presented well. The cafe is clean and welcoming….and the coffees are delish. We’re on our 3rd day of 8, and I anticipate visiting this joint daily while we’re in town. Bravo to this cafe.

We came in for a late night treat (after 11 pm). It was late so understandably there were not all available flavors. We decided to try and few of their macaroons: creme brule, vanilla, berry, raspberry, and red velvet. Berry was our favorite. The texture of these were softer than the ones we are used to, but I would overall recommend someone trying out this place if they are looking for macaroons. I think I would come back to try the other flavors that I was interested in if the opportunity presented itself.

Google
Cozy Parisian cafe tucked along a buzzing street, hidden under scaffolding; Le Parisien Bakery is a must visit 5 minutes walk from the Broadway. Pit stop here for a simple golden age ambience, helpful friendly service and a really good cuppa. We had the Cafe Amande, Napoleon cake and omelette croissant 🥐. Do not miss on their signature cafe options and dig in the Napoleon cake! Just about perfectly crisp watery layered biscuit stuffed with layered cream, berries and grapes 🤩 star of the evening. Glad we had it!

Google
Lovely little bakery in theater district! We stopped in for a quick brunch before catching our show. We ordered crepes, croissant egg sandwich, scrambled eggs and a cappuccino. The crepes were light and good portion. The cappuccino was also very good! Food came out quickly and the staff was friendly. Plus they have a good selection of macarons!

Google
Found this authentic French bakery close to W 46th St & 8th Ave. Loved the Pistachio croissant, Nutella & strawberry croissant, Rose Coffee & Hot chocolate. You can feel the freshness of the ingredients while tasting each of the items. They have a nice area inside and outside. The decor is in line with bakeries in France with classic Parisian vibes.

Google
The service and pastries here are amazing. The macaroons are to die for. The barista George 2 was probably once of the best (and nicest) baristas I have ever dealt with. Jesus at the counter was awesome as well. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place transported us to a realm of culinary delight! Outstanding service interaction. My endorsement of this restaurant is frequent. Not a single misstep. I found this place exceptional.

Yelp
Dry croque madame: they don't use bechamel sauce $10 for a Tropicana bad quality juice maybe 8 oz If you are brunching inside and you want a small coffee they charge you the biggest size even tho no refills Very pricey for not bringing you the plates at table Service is horrible, I told them my croque madame was dry if it was possible to get more bechamel sauce that's when the guy brought from kitchen BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE because that's all they have available they don't put sauce on the platter The salad that comes with the madame was wilted with 2 cherry tomatoes NEVER EVER COMING BACK!

Yelp
All very very tasty. The macaroons were on the house, they were so so. Best desserts we ever had. Our new spot whenever we go to the city

Yelp
This cute little cafe caught my eye as I was in need desperate of a cup of coffee. The ambiance did not disappoint. The atmosphere was cozy. The ordering process was pretty easy but I ordered a caramel latte and the cashier automatically added oat milk which cost an extra dollar. I didn't like that as I prefer regular milk. We also had to ask for a table to be cleaned multiple times. This could have been a coincidence but I don't believe in coincidences. The coffee itself was tasty but the portions are a little small. It could mirror the sizes in their authentic cafes but I feel like the cashier automatically chose a small for me. I likely would have ordered a larger size. Overall just an average cup of coffee with an average experience.

Yelp
Good quality but overcrowded and can't take orders properly. Owner is clearly cheaping out on staff in a shift resulting in long waits and inaccurate orders.

Yelp
This was an ok spot. The crème brûlée latte which I thought was going to be hot was iced. And it didn't have a great flavor. And I have no idea why but they thought I ordered a large. The macaron was really good though. Service wasn't the best but ambiance was cute.

Yelp
It's fiiine. The tart I got had a crust that was mushy, the drink was way too sweet, services was minimal. It's mainly a patisserie with a good location.
google avatar

JJ R.

Yelp
Food was delicious, but confiscatory pricing and service will make you sad. It's perfectly located near hotels and theaters, so maybe the price should be expected. But I ordered here three times during my recent visit, and each time I left a bit exasperated, and feeling more than a bit poorer.

Yelp
The smallest piece of quiche, tiniest side salad and gross crostini on the side for $25. No service-you get a number and have to listen for them to call it out. Find another French bakery, they abound elsewhere.

Yelp
Amazing ambience, great pastries and coffee !! I got the capuchino and butter croissant, SO GOOD. Jessica gave amazing service, super friendly.

Yelp
The food is subpar and coffee was okay. They charged $55 for a latte and 2 sandwiches which is extremely pricey but we paid for it given that it is in theater district of Manhattan nd then days later my credit card was charged $65. Absolutely absurd and currently disputing the charges with my credit card company

Yelp
I went from uptown to visit and it was not worth the trip. The plain croissant was bready and the chocolate croissant was slightly raw on the inside. I would not go out of my way. I think the ambience of the place is what gets the stars.

Yelp
Ridiculous pricing. $31 for a coffee and egg sandwich, $3 upcharge for cheese, and then after quite a suspenseful wait, the dry microwaved sandwich had no cheese to speak of. Disappointing to have a cafe this close to work and not be able to recommend it to colleagues.

Yelp
Picked up a few dozen macarons early on a Sat morning (6/29/24). The young lady behind the counter was an absolute sweetheart and the macarons were awesome. First thing to disappear at the party I brought them too!!! Everything in there looked amazing

Yelp
Ambience is great. Somehow, this coffee shop manages to have an abundance of room while being only one block from Times Square. Not a bad place to bring a laptop and get some work done in the morning. Owner is French and really cares about the authenticity and quality of the food. Also, only French music! Don't sleep on the Macarons! Oh, and the coffee is excellent!

Yelp
Service is excellent! Lovely French cafe, clean and cool place to enjoy a fabulous drink and sweet treat of choice! Definitely coming back tomorrow!

Yelp
Just don't do it. Slow. Like really slow. Somehow our order came to go even though no one ever asked. Flat white was at best flat white-adjacent. And then back to slow. Our order of 2 coffees took at least 15 min. I wish we read other reviews before coming here.

Kokok D.

Yelp
Bought plain croissant which sets my bar for French bakery. Was warmed but was the most underwhelming croissant O ever had. Like in one of the past reviews, no better than grocery croissants. Costco 's croissants is better.

Karen C.

Yelp
We just wanted 2 small coffees ($4.90 each) and 2 classic croissants ($5 each) and got charged $38. We asked for some explanation. The server apologized, said he had fixed and reprinted a 2nd ticket with a lower price but still way higher than expected. We asked again for some explanation. The server explained the prices in the system were higher than the ones displayed ($7.00 instead of $4.90). While the server remained courteous, we did not manage to get charged at the displayed price and no refund came through. Very disappointed.

Yelp
DO NOT GO! This was not what I expected or what was advertised/highly rated reviews! I was thoroughly disappointed and would not recommend it if you are hoping for a great dining experience. As a place to stop and grab something, it's fine. I read the reviews of the restaurant, saw photos of their food that are shown on their website and wanted to go for brunch with my family. We made a reservation on OpenTable and showed up at the reservation time. We arrived for brunch and noticed that there was minimal seating and a long line at the counter. Thinking that there must be a dining room somewhere else I asked the employee and he said that reservations did not matter, just get in line to order and find a seat if you can. There was no need for a reservation, we barely found room at the counter to sit and the food was utterly disappointing. We saw containers of croissants being dropped off (one whole container even fell on the floor, hopefully not used!) and the croissants looked and tasted like ones you'd purchase from a grocery store - not freshly baked as you would think for Le Parisien Bakery! Our order was also not correct and we had to wait a while to get it. I wish I had looked at Yelp for reviews prior to going here as they clearly are filtering out the suspicious ones. In conclusion, I wish we had just walked away to find a place that was worth going to. We had been to a variety of fantastic bakeries in the city and this is not one of them.

Yelp
Do not eat here! The people taking the order knew nothing about the menu or the food. We ordered a salad with chicken and a plain crepe. We were served a very sad salad with little pieces of chicken that were rubber like erasers and what looked like a hard tortilla stuffed with Nutella.first of all not what we ordered second of all not even edible. I told the guy and sent them back. It was pretty gross there so we offered to pay for our coffee and leave. They charged us 15.00 for coffee but I paid it and gave a 3.00 tip just so we could leave and eat somewhere else.2 days later I see they changed the total on my card charge to 63.00!! I am disputing with my credit card since this sham of a business doesn't have a working phone number to even speak to someone about the charge.

Yelp
I've been here for breakfast the last two times I've been to the city and I've had a great experience both times. The food is so amazing and service is good as well!

Julie K.

Yelp
Not bad choice for casual sit down breakfast. It has some family style that attracts us walk in a couple of times in the morning among all the cafes nearby during our 3 weeks stay. The croissants and cakes are good. I like the Napoleon cake the best.

Liz S.

Yelp
The almond latte is fantastic and the friendly service is unmatched! I highly recommend visiting this gem on your visit to New York City!

Ingrid V.

Yelp
The napoleon cake and macaroons were worth the trip. The napoleon was the best I've had. The croissants were good but still not as great as real Parisian ones (I have high expectation), still they were good. Service was good and the place is very insta picture pretty. Great for a girl's "Emily in Paris" theme brunch! I went mid week so it was at 60% capacity.

Yelp
Even though we made a reservation for the prix fixe lunch, we walked all the way here only to be told that the restaurant is closed.

Stacia S.

Yelp
This place has an awesome location. We ate dinner, off the prix fixed menu and it was definitely overpriced for what you get. They haven't worked out the kinks in their food prep. But the service was lovely and the coffee is delicious, probably a better stop in for coffee or pastries.
