"Montreal’s diners are eminently kid-friendly, but brunch restaurants can be a bit more fraught: not so at this Village restaurant. Expect a rounded menu with decked-out Benedictines and breakfast poutines, plus grilled cheeses and sweet options like crepes for the younger diners. Daytime only." - Erinn Blicher, Tim Forster

I really enjoyed eating at this place. The food is carefully thought out and the ambiance of the restaurant was great overall. We had the poached eggs with bone marrow and the maritimes one and both had their distinct flavour. The bone marrow had a generous portion and the maritime one too! However, the star of the show was the panko french toast. It was easily one of the best french toast I had. The texture of the panko just gives it its wow factor! The only dissapointment I had was that when we asked our new plates to be replaced since they were dirty , the waiter that we asked for (which was not our waiter) took them and threw the new plates back to us. Overall I would still recommend this place for the panko french toast that is amazing!

Google
Food is great but they seem have staff shortage problem, only 2 servers with full capacity. Come and try the signature French toast and foie gras with 2 poached eggs. It was delicious! The only one I don’t like is the strawberry smoothie is too sweet, they added yoghurt. However, Will be back again to try other dishes.

We have been wanting to eat at this restaurant for a very long time. However, we’re not big on making reservations for breakfast as we typically make her decisions on the fly. In order to eat at this restaurant, you kind of have to make a reservation. Their reservation system is very confusing at first because they split the times into services so when you arrive at the restaurant, there’s a long line of people with reservations all at the same time and everyone is confused or trying to cut in line. It’s a very confusing system, because you arrive at the time you’re supposed to and typically if you make a reservation you expect to be seated as you arrive. This is not the case at this restaurant or so it wasn’t the case when we visited and many other reviews reflect similar frustrations. Alas, we got our table and Were able to sit down and order our food. The service was on the slow side and the plates run the abundance side. We recall finishing our meal around 2 o’clock and weren’t even hungry for dinner later on that day. The food was good. It just felt like it was a bit much And they were trying to perhaps compensate. It was a good experience, but we are not sure that we will return.

Google
Absolutely delicious food, huge portion, 100% would recommend to anyone comes to Montreal. FOOD: • Foie Gras Poached Egg: I don't think 1 person can finish this. 2 big chunks of brioche, 2 big foie gras plus poached goose eggs and loads of hollandaise sauce. All the fat and heavy in one dish but it's so so worth it. I love the onion jame, it made the taste become so special. This's the best poached egg dish I ever tried in my life! • Le passe Compose Bagel: I fell in love with it from the first bite. I'm not sure why the avocado need to be fried as the bagel is already crispy. Very high quality bagel, lots of cream cheese and salmon. SERVICE: 10/10 INSIDE: super busy, long line up. They might rush you to leave to make space for more people coming in.

Google
I must say that I was a bit shocked by the price of each dish when I first sat down and looked at the menu since it's on the expensive side. However, it's worth it! We got the famous panko french toast and the foie gras egg benedict to share for 3 people. It was more than enough, the portions are huge. But it doesn't mean it affected the quality. Everything was so well cooked and so flavourful. I could have eaten there all day if I could. Overall, an expensive brunch but they have quality and quantity in their ingredients and portions. Will definitely come back!

Google
(Actual rating 2.5)I really wanted to like this place because it was recommended to me from a friend and the reviews are spectacular, but I had the complete opposite of what I was expecting. First off the hostess/manager was great, but our waitress on the other hand was awful. For one our food took an hour, yes an hour to arrive which is not normal for a breakfast/brunch place. Once we received our dishes we had no apologies for the delay or a reason as to why it took so long. Throughout our meal no one came to check up on us to see if everything was ok, and even during payment no mention on if we enjoyed our meal, just took our payments and left. For the price that we payed (70$ per person) you would expect a better service. The food on the other hand was good, hence the 2.5 stars.

Google
Have to say this is my favourite brunch place of all time! Very popular place but allow you to reserve a place to avoid the line. Food was tasty and nice coffee too. Love their bagel and how all dishes are balance with fresh ingredients. You can really taste the difference! 5-star!

I went to this brunch with my best friend on my birthday to get a meal together. We reserved the place at 1:15pm in 2 days advance. We came on time but still had to wait 30 mins after the reservation time. There was no waiter standing in front of the entrance to ask if our table was available. When the waiter did eventually come, we still had to wait. Usually, according to my experiences, doesn’t the place reserve an empty table knowing well there is a group who reserved at that time? When we did get to be seated, they firstly put us to share a table with 4 men. Me and my friend were a bit uncomfortable so we notified a waiter and gladly gave us a 2 person table. The food that we ordered were the foie gras eggs Benedict and the famous French toast to share. We also had to wait a bit more than 30 mins to get our dishes. We loved the sauce of the foie gras. The overall dish was good, but the potatoes tasted a bit weird. As for the French toast, it was a bit on the heavy side and was already very sweet. (We didn’t pour any maple syrup) The yogurt was very delicious. The service was a hit and miss. Our table’s waiter was quite nice and still checked on us a couple of times. The other waiters would mostly ignore us. So, in the end of this experience, I wouldn’t really want to go back there since it’s also quite pricy too (even for 2 people) before the tips. However, this place can be great for a one time experience

Yelp
This rustic restaurant was an absolute privilege to visit even though we needed to book reservations because of how crowded it was it was worth that extra preparation. The staff were really polite and they seated us promptly and even gave us choices for where to sit. The waitress was also very helpful and recommending certain dishes over others. There were so many items on the menu that I really wanted to try and we opted for the bone marrow toast ($50) and a grilled cheese sandwich ($35). Both dishes were extremely flavourful and creamy they both had hints of mushroom in their creamy sauce and also a bit of escargot. The flavour profiles for each of these dishes were really similar but it was so good I did not mind having double the amount of the same flavour. The grilled cheese sandwich came with either a soup of the day which was tomato soup or some fries I ordered the soup and it was delicious nice and acidic not too sour not too sweet I really great fresh tomato taste to it. I would come back for brunch next time.

Yelp
The place is very popular and so be expected to have to wait for some time before being seated. I was lucky to get a reservation last minute ONLINE -- probably because somebody canceled his. This, I was seated right away. See pictures for recommendations. Especially recommend the bone marrow dish as it is not available at most places, hence, somewhat rare to find. Our waitress was very friendly and provided great service. One minor complaint which is probably a mismanagement or oversight by the restaurant itself is that we did not get our side order of French Toast despite ordering it the same time as the other dishes. This, we ended up canceling it. Besides that, nice dining environment and highly recommended. Again, definitely try the Bone Marrow dish!

Yelp
UNBELIEVABLE! This was simply the single best brunch of my life! I had high hopes but wasn't prepared for the delicious decadence of the food we were served. It's hard not to gush! We had reservations / otherwise there can be a bit of a wait, especially early Sunday afternoon. I had the signature Foie Gras on brioche with eggs and prosciutto and MAN WAS IT INCREDIBLE! They could cut the brioche serving in half and this would still be a hit - two large portions of foie gras that was seared outside and perfect delicious juiciness inside. Hubby had a Key Lime Pie Crumble - maple and lime yogurt with crumble and berries with a "meringue flambé" and a citrus cream and pistachios on top. It was served with a small wedge of baguette with a vanilla/lime ricotta. Finally there a mango-lime smoothie served on the side. Huge portion. Delicious! Definitely recommend a stop here!

Yelp
We made sure to come to Le Passé Composé for our last morning in Montreal and it left such a lasting impression! What we got: Foie Gras Poached Eggs Rural Poached Eggs French Toast Wow! Just so yummy! Both poached egg dishes were rich and flavorful! Every little ingredient worked really well together. And the French toast?! Best French toast I've ever had even though it looks so simple. Just try this place for yourself and make that reservation-- you won't regret it!

Yelp
Foie Gras for breakfast? Fancy! But, I am on vacation in French Canada, so why the heck not?! The foie gras itself is amazing! It is cooked to tender perfection and every single bite is exploding with flavor! I have no idea what kind of magic the kitchen is using but I am SO here for it! Where it comes to the accompaniments, these were a little hit or miss. Hit: * The onion jam added a wonderful sweetness to the overall dish. * The egg was of excellent quality (though to be fair, the egg white was a little too firm for my taste). * The prosciutto chips work great in adding crispness and salt. * Arugula Sprouts were a nice touch in adding some freshness. Miss: * The sheer amount of bread feels very excessive. I would estimate there are 6 slices worth here. * Turnips (or, rather 'the starch component') could have been more tender and could have used some seasoning * Sauce and poppy look pretty, but their flavors get lost somewhere along the way. Ordinarily, I would say CAD 41 is a little steep for breakfast, but high quality foie gras is a very expensive ingredient. Le Passé Composé does a terrific job allowing it to shine on its own. However, some of the accompaniments did not work for me. Yet, these are relatively minor, easily corrected notes. Besides, who the heck am I to tell the kitchen what they should be doing.

Yelp
This place is insanely good, albeit a bit pricier. They have a lot of really nice, creative cocktails and the portion sizes are very...American. The dishes are all quite heavy and hearty with influences from Latin and Quebecois cuisine.

Hanyu T.

Yelp
We heard about this place from friends that it offers the famous foie gras for bunch and decided to try on our trip to Montreal. It's seated in a quiet neighborhood, hidden in colorful old townhouses. We had a reservation at 11:45am and was seated immediately after arrival. The inside gives an old wooden vibe. It's small and VERY NOISY. There is also an outdoor garden area, which could be quieter than inside. The service was good enough. I ordered an Americano and a rural poached egg. Friend ordered a mango key lime smoothie and the famous foie gras poached egg. The portion size is large but the food is so good that we stuffed ourselves with everything on the plate even we were already full. The bread is fluffy and soft. The eggs are, interestingly, goose eggs. The mushroom sauce in my plate is creamy and satisfying. My friend said the fois gras was rich and tender. The French toast looks good too but unfortunately we didn't have enough stomach space.

Yelp
I came to Le Passé Composé for lunch a while ago and tried their 2 Foie Gras Poached Eggs Benedict. The atmosphere was chill and relaxing and the server was quite friendly. The benedict was really good in terms of flavour, texture, overall food ratio/balance, nicely poached eggs, and good turnip/potato. Trying Foie Gras for the first time was interesting as well and the foie gras complimented the food. I would go there again for the food again but it may be better for couples as the dish can feel a bit overwhelming or greasy near the end. Overall, I'd give the experience 8.8/10

Oleg H.

Yelp
LPC lives up to the hype. But on our visit the the bone marrow was disappointing - and unfortunately tasted like "oxidized fat", this wasnt enough of a problem to send the dish back, especially because everything else was excellent (and the service was absolutely next level).

Yelp
Our friends who got married in Montreal said we had had to eat here while we were visiting. Fearing the wrath of my intimidating friends, I said "of course" and immediately made a reservation. We took the metro over from our hotel and even though were were early, we were seated immediately at a table up front. We had a great view of the bar, restaurant as well as the world going by on the street. The only drawback that it was a bit warm in the restaurant and the table was picnic style which was less comfortable than chairs would be. Normally, we wouldn't have noticed but we'd been walking all over Montreal for the past couple of days so we were all a little stiff and sore! In any event, service was lovely and the food was almost a work of art. I had the Key Lime Pie Crumble. At $27 CAD, it's not cheap but honestly, I could have shared it and still been full when I left. According to the menu, it contains maple and lime yogurt, crumble, blue berries and blackberries, Italian meringue flambé, lemon and lime cream and pistachios. Additionally, you get a thin slice of baguette with vanilla and lime ricotta. And on top of that, it's served with a mango and lime smoothie that looks like it has poppy seeds in it. It was beautiful to look at and even more delicious to eat but it was so filling, I could only eat about half of it. The smoothie they served with it could have been a meal by itself as it was very thick and rich. The blueberries were the sweetest I've ever had. Sometimes fresh blueberries are a little tart and only once you bake them do they release their full sweetness but these were super fresh and super sweet. I also had a Quebec vanilla coffee which was amazing. All of the portions were fairly large and shareable. We knew some of the portions were too big so we cut them in half immediately and boxed them up to go. The prices seemed a little steep for brunch but the food was definitely amazing and the service was very friendly. I let my friends who recommended the place know that it was one of the highlights of our time in Montreal. Definitely make reservations...we were able to make them about a week in advance with no issues but we did see people come in without them and they didn't have any tables right away.

Alexis C.

Yelp
I came in because I was craving a really amazing French toast and this place did not disappoint. Everything was super fresh! Slight regretting not getting one of the poached egg dishes as they smelled divine.French Toast

Yelp
I had one of the most indulgent breakfasts at Le Passé Composé in The Gay Village of Montreal. Eating brunch here means you must get the 2 Oeufs Pochés Foie Gras / 2 Foie Gras Poached Eggs. This dish comes with two thick slices of brioche bread, each topped with prosciutto, onion jam, poached goose eggs, foie gras, poppy seeds, and arugula sprouts. I have never seen or eaten anything like this dish for brunch. Delicious, rich, and so satisfying. I mentioned my breakfast to a local, and she agreed that Le Passé Composé is a well-known breakfast spot and that the foie gras with poached eggs is a local favorite. It's a one-of-a-kind treat in Montreal that was one of the culinary highlights of my trip.

Shru M.

Yelp
We came in here very intrigued by the menu! They use local produce sourced from quality vendors and that really piqued our interest. As expected the place delivered on quality. They use goose eggs on their dishes and everything was super rich and fatty. Definitely not your everyday brunch spot. Definitely recommend for the experience when in Montreal! It can be a bit pricey on your wallet. We ordered the Foiegras eggs and the vegetarian Benny with goat cheese, mushrooms and cauliflower. Both exceptional dishes with top notch flavors.

Philip L.

Yelp
Have you ever been to a great breakfast place on the most egg-benny-craving day with a group of 16 people waiting together for 45 minutes before the restaurant opens? If your answer is no, let me tell you, that's what I did and we all rushed in like a Black Friday morning at Bestbuy or a weekday morning commuting hour at the local train station. Anyway, we tried out Salmon Egg Benny and the most evil, most cholesterol enriched, thick-cut foie gras on poached eggs. Take a look with my photos, please. Those hot dripping hollandaise sauce with good amount of poppy seed just infused to the eggs with no regrets. Those thick cut bread ain't ordinary bread but brioche. Lightly toasted, so eggy, so thick cut. Comes with a hint of sweetness. Super carb-ieeee. Soak up all the foie gras essence and egg yoke in the middle of the plate like a mop. The finished plate was even cleaner than my car windshield after having a power wash. Time to take a double-dosed of Crestor + Lipitor. So good, so satisfying, so great of a breakfast. Finished off with a good pot of green tea to ramp down the sin of LDL cholesterol together with some great enjoyable moments with friends and families. Nice servers btw. I really like the way they tried to explain the menu to us with good effort, even though they do not speak very fluent English. Much appreciated! Recommended. Should check this out if you are looking for some good breakfast in Montreal.

Shirlane C.

Yelp
This is a wonderful brunch place in Montreal. I would call out that the portions are LARGE. A single eggs benedict portion is likely enough to feed two adults. I got the Foie Gras poached eggs and they were wonderfully creamy and delicious. I would recommend building an appetite prior to coming as they also have an amazing french toast. it is so crispy yet tender on the inside. Our server was very kind and provided us with everything we needed without hovering. The entire restaurant is very cozy and there is a long bar with a bunch of seats. We made reservations for a weekday morning and there was plenty of space when we arrived.

Anna S.

Yelp
They have the most creative Eggs Benedict selection I've ever seen. Although instead of English muffin they use brioche bread, making it super guilty & carb-y. That's part of the fun though! We came on a Monday brunch time and was able to get a spot without reservation. However I would highly recommend making a reservation - you can conveniently do it through Yelp. We ordered the foie gras poached egg and the maritime poached egg (seafood mix w/ clam chowder). The taste was so rich and delicious for both orders. However, it was a bit TOO rich. After a couple bite I didn't want to ever eat it again. It felt like one of those meals where you want to try at least once but afterwards wouldn't crave it on regular basis. The presentation was great. However I was misled by the Yelp photos to think the Benedicts came with side salad/fruits. I think you would have to order those separately as sides if you want it to come with your entree. I would definitely come back to try other items but would not order the same things again. It was a little pricy for brunch but they do give a big portion.

Shelby E.

Yelp
This was our first stop in Montreal and I can't say more good things about Le Passé Compose! We stopped in at 1:30pm right from the airport. Our server was very nice and checked on us the right amount. We came with luggage (there was 6 of us) and nobody batted an eye when we threw it in the corner before our meal. I should also mention we had a reservation. I ordered the 2 Rural Poached Eggs. It was delicious and HUGE!! The goose poached eggs were cooked perfectly and had the best runny yolks, which combined nicely with the pulled pork and mushrooms. The pork was juicy and the mushrooms were delicious and well seasoned. The fingerling chips gave it a crunchy, salt bite which was nice; they weren't oily. This was a very well composed dish where every element added something special. HIGHLY recommend ordering this! Also note - it comes with 2 loaded pieces of toast. It was very filling and I only made it through one piece before tapping out. Le Passé Compose is a MUST VISIT if you come to Montreal - you won't be disappointed!

Jade L.

Yelp
Our last stop in Canada before heading back to the states. We came here for brunch and did not have a reservation. It does specifically say you need an online reservation when you visit their site. The host was so wonderful and squeezed us in at their bar seats. Our server/barista was amazing ans super nice! Our food was AH-MAZING!!! Our server brought their special jalapeño hot sauce. Make sure to ask for it! It was delicious with the food! Make sure to add to your must eat and don't forget to make a reservation. We ordered: Orange juice Matcha with soy milk Rural poached eggs-vegetarian Foie gras poached eggs Side of 1 french toast Everything was so good!!! French toast was nothing we've tasted before!

anne w.

Yelp
The most expensive and most fattening (foie gras eggs Benedict) brunch we've ever had and NO regrets!

Ting H.

Yelp
A little behind with food posting lately but really enjoyed the brunch I had here that I'm still thinking about it today. Their foie gras poached eggs is to die for! Two pieces of fatty Foie gras, perfectly poached eggs on brioche breads topped with prosciutto chips...it's really a satisfying and tasty dish. Their panko crusted French toasts are also one of the bests I've had. we also tried their mango smoothie and loved it. we made reservations online in advance as this place is always packed. So make sure you book in advance!

Kevin Z.

Yelp
The foie gras was very fatty but delicious. Perfectly balanced flavor. Their salmon bagel was good too, though some parts of the salmon did not taste super fresh; parts were quite fishy. In my opinion this place, while fine, is overrated and overpriced. I'm not sure if this is a "must go" like I've seen. I'll have to try L'Express next time.

Bethany M.

Yelp
The food is THE reason to come to this brunch spot - but be sure to have a reservation (we did, thankfully, otherwise the wait times are ungodly), and bring your patience for the slowwwww cooking times and the lackadaisical service. We were seated almost immediately upon arrival, but then waited about an hour before our food arrived at the table. Everyone dining around us experienced similar waits, if the empty table tops were anything to judge by. In the meantime, our waitress provided no updates re: what was going on, and she acted surprised when we asked for refills on beverages. At one point she spilled coffee all over one of our party's jacket/wallet, and did not apologize or offer napkins to clean it up. Her attitude was brusque and indifferent throughout the entire meal. I think we encountered someone who was just not having a great day... the food, when it did arrive, made up to some extent for the lack of service. Delicious all around - the Bone Marrow Eggs were the table favorite. We over-ordered inadvertently (very hungry group!), and this is not the restaurant to do that at. I think we all felt a bit ill after the richness of this meal, but what can I say? I can't help it when I see a $16 side of foie - gotta guild that lily.

Dianna H.

Yelp
Come here if you're looking for a delicious and filling brunch! I made reservations for Saturday brunch for two at 2 pm. We arrived around 1 since our earlier plans didn't take as long as we thought, and they were able to squeeze us in a bit earlier at 1:30. We asked our server, and the two most popular brunch items here are the foie gras poached eggs and the panko breaded French toast. He wasn't joking; almost every poached egg dish coming out of the kitchen was the foie gras, so clearly that's the winner here. They have freshly squeezed orange juice, and it was so good I ended up getting two large glasses of it ($5 each). My friend enjoyed the coffee as well. The food portions looked huge, and we saw multiple people take leftovers to go, which we definitely didn't want since we had plans afterwards, so we decided to share one dish. My friend is vegetarian, so we opted for the Rural Poached Eggs / Oeufs Pochés Champêtre ($29), which is Brioche bread, goose eggs, Gaspor pulled pork, mushroom medley, and mushroom sauce. To make it vegetarian, I asked for the pulled pork on the side. I also ordered some pan seared foie gras for $14. My friend and I each ate one poached egg. I tried it first without the pork or foie gras, and I personally found it a bit bland with just the mushrooms and the mushroom sauce. The pulled pork gives it a lot of flavor. I wasn't sure whether the pork would be good here, but it was super tasty. It's not American style pulled pork, which is drenched in BBQ sauce, but rather saltier and crispier. The foie gras made each bite feel extra rich and decadent. I can see why the foie gras poached eggs are the most popular dish here. We paid around $80 after tax and tip.

Bobby B.

Yelp
I just had the best breakfast of my life. I wish I'd discovered this place earlier in my visit to Montreal. The Maritimes poached egg dish was perfect in flavor and presentation. Well worth the extra expense.

Paul S.

Yelp
It's been several years since I've been here and all I remember is that my first time here was probably one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. I barely recognized the place with all the construction and the outside patio unused. Even the menu is totally different...what happened to the apple fritters and omelettes??? Was a little sad, but ordered the pulled pork poached egg entree. Wow! A plate of delicious 5000 calories! It was really rich, the mushroom gravy was heavenly and the pulled pork so tender. I loved the brioche bread but I barely made a dent on one slice. Lots of exotic mushrooms which I totally devoured. This dish could have easily been split between 2 people, so order this and French Toast, and you're all set.

Mina P.

Yelp
Fantastic brunch! Delicious dishes, and surprisingly large portions. I'd recommend any of the savoury options. Everyone in our group loved theirs. One person got the pear crumble and wasn't blown away but it certainly looked very nice. Overall service was friendly and efficient, and the decor was pretty cute. The picnic style tables towards the back of the restaurant were great for sitting with a group, and also looks like their terrace is now open. It was busy when we went so it was a good thing we had made reservations in advance. The location is just a block from beaudry station so it's easily accessible. Definitely recommend!

Angela S.

Yelp
Le Passé Composé is one of the most decadent brunches I've had in my life - and for a very reasonable price. And what I also loved was the laid-back and chill vibe of the restaurant itself. I really only went for the foie gras poached eggs. The foie gras was nicely cooked and the sauce that they made was incredibly creamy and not too heavy/fatty. The onion jam and turnips were also nice additions for you to make a perfect bite, with extra textures and flavor. For the actual poached eggs, they were perfectly runny LOL. The brioche buns were also buttery and airy, and WAY better than the American's sad excuse of the thing they serve eggs Benedict on. The panko french toast was also so good- i didnt know how much the panko changed French toast, but it did open my eyes. The toast was not soggy at all, and the panko added a nice extra crisp for texture. The caramelized pears were well cooked, not mushy, and deliciously slightly cinnamon-y. I would definitely share the foie gras poached eggs, as it would've been too much for one person (have u ever tried eatin too much foie gras? Ur arteries start crying. plus u can try more of the menu!)

Robert K.

Yelp
A rare miss in Montreal for us. Everything we had for brunch was just a bit too rich and heavy without the flavor/texture to make up for it. The elevated benedict was well presented, but didn't do much for taste. French toast, dry and bland. Service was nice enough.

Maya Z.

Yelp
Came right when they opened. Disappointed that they were out of the croque monsieur, but had a great meal regardless. The seafood bagel sandwich didn't have much of a seafood taste but was still delicious. French toast was a highlight and so was the yogurt that came with it.

Happy K.

Yelp
Excellent food, huge portions. Ok service. Kicked us out of our table after the '2 hours', but we were the only table kicked out?

Eugene W.

Yelp
Food is delicious - just a tad expensive. I got the poached eggs with foie gras. The foie gras was decadent and paired well with the eggs. The gravy is delicious. I thought the brioche was just okay. I liked the bacon and onion jam on the bread. The dish felt very heavy, and I felt a little gross for the rest of the afternoon. The portion sizes are pretty generous. I'm split between giving a 4 and 5 stars, but I'm leaning towards 5 because they truly do their dishes well.

Sabrina L.

Yelp
I visited on what was apparently the rainiest day in Montreal -- thankfully, I made a reservation at Le Passé Composé and was immediately seated in the cozy restaurant. As someone from California who's tried a million widely acclaimed brunch places, this was hands down the best brunch I've ever had. FOOD Foie Gras Poached Eggs (5/5): Such a cool take on poached eggs! The dish comes with a generous portion of foie gras and a delicious sauce that tied everything together. Crumble of the Islands (500/5): THIS DISH LEFT ME SPEECHLESS. Not to be dramatic, but this was my favorite breakfast dish I've ever had in my life. Each spoonful of warm crumble, fresh fruit, and coconut yogurt was to die for. The tropical smoothie was also so delightful and refreshing! The baguette was so good as well and I especially loved the crunch that the almond flakes added. Just so in awe of this dish!!! I will be thinking about this for a long time. SERVICE Friendly and quick! Also all the employees are super hip and fashionable. In terms of parking, I found street parking a few blocks down, but parking is hard in Montreal in general. I definitely recommend dining here if you get a chance!

Kathrina R.

Yelp
No walk ins. Definitely make reservations. The little brunch spot was really nice with the murals on the wall. Very busy! But worth it. My partner got the foie gras poached eggs-- it was a little different than expected with texture something that we're not use too the sauce was tasty. I ordered the rural poached eggs-- loved the sauce, very mushroomy I really enjoyed it. The potions are pretty big, I was stuffed with just 1 of the toast. Presentation was beautiful, definitely would recommend this place.

Yelp
I was in Montreal for less than 24 hours, and decided to come to Passé Composé for brunch. I made a reservation through Yelp for 1:30pm and were seated quite quickly upon arrival (side note: I initially had a reservation for 12:45pm, which I changed around 12:00pm because we realized we were not going to make it in time - very seamless process!) We were also able to park right across the street, so it was quite convenient. The restaurant was full, so service was a bit slow throughout our meal. We ordered the smoked salmon and braised boar poached eggs - the portions are quite large, so this was more than enough food for 3 people. It's hard to say which one I liked better, but I think the boar wins it by a tiny margin with slightly richer flavours. Pretty good value for how much you get - we were all very full afterwards. I'm a big fan of traditional eggs benny, so it was lovely to taste an elevated take on a typical brunch item.

Yelp
Perfection! Legit traditional french breakfast! Definitely, order their Mimosa. If you want omelette, they dont have it here! If you are seeking local high quality food then this is your place to be!

Yelp
Our waitress was fantastic! Recommend the maple iced latte cocktail. I love that she said "she starts every day with one". Would definitely return when I'm in Montreal again. The toasts are very filling and we chose to split our breakfast. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
You shouldn't have trouble finding the will to drag yourself out of bed to beat the lines at @passecomposemtl ; an expert presentation - almost a work of art and an abundant serving of fresh ingredients will help you wipe your sleepy eyes with excitement as a very nice staff welcomes you to a comfortable atmosphere.

Yelp
Such a beautiful and delicious place to go for brunch! I'm spending the long weekend in Montreal from the States and wanted to try a French brunch. We got the Foie Gras poached eggs and French toast. It's my first time trying Foie Gras and it was amazing, by far my favorite thing I tried here! The French toast was crunchy and came with real maple syrup which was so delicious. The staff are also so friendly! I'm so happy I got to try this place, I plan on coming back!

Yelp
Food was good, but kitchen was over run by the number of guests. We arrived on time based on our reservation and they told us that we had to wait somewhere else and they would call us. After 20 minutes they finally called us and gave us our table, just to wait another hour to get our food ready. Food was good but not worth the 80 minutes wait.

Yelp
This place from the outside would look pretty low key and hipster. It's in the gay village area of montreal and there are no fancy signs to advertise. You may see a line of people and that's kind of the giveaway where you need to be. We made a reservation online and showed up to a not super packed spot around 1:45 for brunch. Got in in about 15 min and had a quick cappuccino. Took a little bit for the eggs to arrive but it was spectacular. The rabbit confit was perfectly balanced with mushrooms and cream. The foie gras was so buttery soft and perfectly prepared over procuitto and caramelized onions. Loved it all.

Yelp
Amazing food. Great service. Need to book a reservation ahead or be willing to wait for seats at the bar.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I are don't have the biggest appetite, so we decided to get 1 main and 1 side to share. It turns out that this was the perfect amount of food for the both of us! The foie gras poached eggs ($29) were very decadent, and unique. Even though the prices are steeper compared to other brunch restaurants, I would love to come back and try out the other poached egg dishes. The French toast was a little disappointing. I understand that I'm only getting a side ($8) of French toast, but the quality should've been the same. We got the end of the bread, and it was slightly too hard. Last time I came, the French toast was much better - thick and fluffy bread with some crunch.

Yelp
The service, food, drink, company and conversation wow! What a great brunch the six of us had. The table next to ours gave up conversing and eavesdropped most of their meal lol. We had a variety of drink and a variety of food. So good. I had the maple nut coffee (boozy), carmelized pear French toast and I added some vanilla bean ricotta to spread on my French toast. Divine. The pictures of the French toast do not do it justice. The eggs Benny were also popular at our table. I wish they had this place, this food and this company available to me regularly. To top it off, two of us were treated for birthdays and another two were treated because they are students.

Yelp
Pretty hard to find street parking Greeted right away when I walked in. Came in in the early morning and it's not full house around 10:30 on Wednesday. It didn't even last long, more people start coming in around 11ish. Greatest decision to go into before heading back to the state . The waiters was friendly. Food took a while to make but it's worth the wait. Food was really good. Portion is really big. My favorite was The Maritimes Poached Egg. It definitely something you don't get for breakfast/brunch in the state. I will go back when I go back to Montréal.

Yelp
Finally, Montréal is slowly gaining back life. My wife and I decided to have Sunday brunch. It's usually jam packed with long wait time and we didn't make any reservations... We were just trying our luck. We waited about 20 minutes and we got our table! I ordered the smoked meat burger and Mrs got the foie gras. Unfortunately, both of our dishes came out cold but they quickly took it back and remake the order right away. Food quality was great, fois gras melt was very savoury and tasty! My smoked meat burger tho was okay, not very impressed... I wished I had ordered something else to be honest. It's not bad, it's just not good enough for the price. Service was amazing. Staff are super friendly, our waitresses behind the counter was super nice and make sure we were taking care of! Great overall experience!

Yelp
Very good food! Huge servings! Only downside it took a bit to get our food but other than that it's a great brunch place !

Yelp
Made a Saturday brunch reservation right here on Yelp! First off, ambiance and service were great. Shared a Foie Gras Eggs Benedict and Parisian Grilled Cheese and both were delicious and more than enough for 2 people. Parisian Grilled Cheese: The bread is so warm/crispy and meat and cheese are full of amazing flavor. 5/5 Foie Gras Eggs Benedict: Very possibly one of the most tasty and satisfying eggs benny I've ever had. 5/5 Maple and Nut Coffee: VERY flavorful and quite bitter due to the alcohol/coffee combo. Slightly overwhelming but could just be a personal preference. 4/5 Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for brunch in Montreal!

Yelp
Service was great and food was amazing! Definitely pricy but the quality and quantity is reflected in the price.

Yelp
I hate to downgrade a review and from my most recent experience here, I found it quite average at a very high price. I came on a Monday for breakast/brunch. I shared the Braised beef poached eggs and a side of panko french toast with my boyfriend. The Braised beef poached eggs (28$) were quite expensive so I was expecting something wow. Unfortunately, once it showed up, the beef was dry, stringy and salty. The poached egg was also slightly overdone and wasn't runny enough. I loved the peal onions and potatoes on the side but they shouldn't have overshadowed the main dish. Overall, wasn't impressed with this dish The french toast (6$ for one slide) was delish. I had a latte (5$) which was very small and served in a regular water glass so it got cold quickly. It was good while it was hot. The restaurant is maintaining appropriate distance between tables and all employees wore masks. Service was good. I know this place is super popular but I think it is quite overrated. 2.5/5

Yelp
This is hands down the best brunch place I've ever been to. Like the greatest of the greatest. Top dog stuff no cap. We had to do a little lineup to get in but it was totally worth the wait as the food was absolutely delicious. There's is no way I could describe it in words how good everything tasted. The poached eggs are a must there. I've had the Rural Poached Eggs and everything tasted heavenly in my mouth. The portion is huge so don't be scared looking at the price because that stuffs gonna fill you for real. On a side note, they have a good selection of hot sauce from a distinct company that I forgot to take a picture of so I could order some for home. All the hot sauces were good, I should probably go back there and check for the brand.
