The Best Coffee Shops In Paris - Paris - The Infatuation

"Coffee, waffles, juice, bike tours—Le Peloton Café has it all. They originally started as a way to bring the Paris cycling community together over a cup of coffee, and to this day, cyclists still meet up here before touring Paris or biking up to Versailles. Even if you don’t bike, its Marais location, steps from the Seine, makes Le Peleton a great meeting point for friends, or making new ones. If you’re a solo traveler, you probably won’t be solo for long. English and French mix, and people here are eager to chat." - tanisha townsend

The 21 Best Cafés in Paris

"This minimalist café focuses on two things: coffee and cycling. (It's owned by the Kiwi founders of Bike About Tours.) There are only a handful of seats and counter stools, so it's not suited for lingering; stop in on a leisurely stroll through the Marais or en route to the left bank museums. They serve flat whites, drip coffee, espresso, and a menu largely filled with sweet treats, like croissants and waffles with a side of jam." - Lindsey Tramuta

Le Peloton Café — Café Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Okay, you’ve just walked in. First impressions? This minimalist but colorful café focuses on two things: coffee and cycling. (It's owned by the American-Kiwi duo who founded Bike About Tours.) Who else was there? Expect a mix of travelers and expats who frequent the café for its excellent coffee, riverside location, and community of cyclists. Guests are often hovered around the horseshoe bar chatting up the baristas and owners. The raison d’être : the coffee. How was it? Flat whites, drip coffee, espresso—this place has it all. Was there food, too, and if so, worth getting? The menu is largely filled with sweet treats, like croissants and waffles served with a side of jam. How about the staff: what did you think? The staff knows what they're doing and they take the time to do it well. In other words, don't order here if you're in a rush. Who should go here? Since the owners renovated the café in 2022, there are more seats for lingering as well as standing spots at the counter. Still, many regulars stop in while they’re on a leisurely stroll through the Marais or en route to the Seine river, located only a block away." - Lindsey Tramuta

A great hidden gem in Paris! Peloton Café serves excellent food and coffee, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff speaks English and makes every foreigner feel right at home. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed break, whether you're a tourist or a local. We absolutely loved it and will definitely come back next time we're in Paris. If you're looking for a cozy place with quality service and great vibes, this is the address to go!

Stopped in for a very nice espresso and after a chat with the owners, decided to come back the next morning, rent bicycles, and do the shop road ride. Impromptu decision. The bikes were Canyons, we joined in a legit Paris shop ride out to Versailles and back. It was a strong group and very intricate route definitely nice to have locals leading. There were a couple of surprisingly solid climbs and coming back into Paris along the Seine we got to see the set-up for the 2024 Olympic games. The espresso is also very good.

Google
Love the cycling vibe with friendly welcoming riders and walkers that know the area . The coffee and food was excellent and so was the friendly as well. I will travel back to Paris just to come to this amazing place

I really enjoy coming here to grab coffee when I’m spending time in Paris. The matcha was so good, and the day I ordered coffee, I liked the flavor too. The yogurt with granola and fruit was simple and delicious!

Google
Rented an excellent Ridley road bike for one week of bike touring. Bike performed excellently - it was nearly new with the high end Ultegra groupset making for a smooth, comfortable ride, even after hours in the saddle daily. Paul, one of the owners, and the staff as a whole were incredibly kind. I also enjoyed a coffee (oat milk available) and granola bowl before leaving and after returning. Delicious both times!

Google
GREAT Coffee. Everyone knows Australians are coffee snobs. We have left far too many half drunk (undrinkable) coffees all over Le Marais. This place offers great coffee, lovely staff, bike hire and bike tours. Also great fresh pastries (too many places serve yesterday’s bread!). Highly recommended for coffee aficionados and those looking for an interesting way to see the sights of Paris and further abroad in the Ile de France.

Google
What a great find on our foot explores. Wonderful friendly staff and awesome international vibes - for awhile we didn’t feel like we were in Paris. Everyone speaks bicycles and coffee here. Coffee is excellent too

Google
If I lived here, I'd spend every weekend at this café. They're very English friendly, and if you ride, you owe it to yourself to come here.

Yelp
Well, this is certainly a pretty awesome cafe, and it is certainly what you would expect from a cafe. Actually, it has a bicycle theme, and the thing is that they actually provide bicycle tours of Paris, which I have to admit is pretty cool. It's a small place, but it is cosy, and they do make a decent coffee. I personally liked it, and I liked the coffee as well, though don't expect the same charm as the cafes and restaurants scattered about the city.

Yelp
Excellent coffee, great macchiato Better than the automatic coffee you get at most terraces

Yelp
LOOKS GOOD ! On Fri, Oct 6th we took a taxi over here from our apartment in Rue Daguerre. My wife and I were not coming here for coffees or light pastries. We had a guided bike tour with Bike About Tours lined up at 10am and this was the meeting place. Being avid cyclists back home in California we asked our travel agent to book us a guided bike tour during our Paris vacation. Our travel agent chose Bike About Tours. We arrived around 9.30am and had a fleeting chat with a guy called Christian who runs Bike About Tours. We didn't need any more coffee having enjoyed a hearty breakfast in Rue Daguerre much earlier. THE COFFEE SHOP ! It's not real big but big enough for a small group to hang out.....there is a small outdoor patio at the rear. Eventually everyone on our bike tour turned up and we met our tour guide Jude. Not long before 10am our tour group went for a walk to an underground parking garage close by to collect our bicycles and bike helmets. AND THAT WAS THAT ! NOTE - Of course with 20 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics world wide in 2023 I can tell you what is great !

Yelp
Sadly they got rid of the waffles over 2 years ago due to lack of venting. They also were out of orange juice. Granola bowl was okay but not great as not much variety for fruit as just banana and apple.
google avatar

Yelp
Le Peloton is a cute Parisian cafe with excellent coffee! If you happen to be in the area, definitely stop by and give them a try. I really enjoyed the latte. Everyone there was very friendly. They also offer guided bike tours of the Le Marais neighborhood, which you can book online. It's a fun stroll around the neighborhood, where you will encounter many unique and beautiful sights.

Yelp
Chocolat chaud and gaufres! The waffle was nice and light. I ordered mine simply topped with powdered sugar (Nature/Plain). While not necessarily a filling meal - it was nice and warm in my tummy. Warning: this shop is small. There's seating for maybe 15 people.
google avatar

Yelp
Wait- does everyone here speak English?! Pretty much. Depending on how you greet the people behind the counter- they will quickly flip to the language your accent may imply. In just a couple cups of coffee we met 5 American expats, planned a retirement community for artists with the $1 homes for sale in Italy, and discussed VISA issues and solutions. The waffle and coffee were excellent as well- though, ironically, you may need to wait longer for a drip coffee than an Americano.

Yelp
The Good: :: it's a local business, run by some fantastic people :: the coffee is always on point here. made with TLC and attention, it's a treat to drink while you sit and people-watch the day away or have a chit-chat with the other customers or the staff! :: they also sell non-coffee drinks such as fresh juices, teas, etc :: they serve food and pastries, too. get there early for croissants as those sell out quickly. give the ham and cheese waffles a try, too! quite delicious :: they also do bike tours in Paris, Versailles and Champagne! check out their website on what options they have for you to partake in. :: they also sell some merchandise (eg, wallets, mugs, etc) for you to purchase as gifts for family/friends or even yourself :: indoor and outdoor seating The Bad: :: none The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? Absolutely--I come by here every time I'm in Paris. It's a fantastic, cozy coffeehouse with great people running it, and I'm always happy to give them my business. This place is IN.

Yelp
Cool cycling theme cafe in Paris! Super friendly staff. Skillful baristas ! The coffee here is superb , really high quality. I rented a Canyon road bike. The experience renting from this shop was good, I would definitely return and rent again from this shop. Cycling in Paris is safe because the cycle routes are well marked and cars are very careful around bikes.

Yelp
Solid 3 wave spot in Paris. On the top 10 for sure. English spoken for sure if that is important to you, and the coffee was very good. Did not try pastries but they all looked good. Cute tables out front, and some cool little tables in the back (where we sat, there were three of us). Definitely would return, only had a chance to go once during my trip. Grabbed some beans while I was there which were great as well. Will definitely return!
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly baristas prepare coffee in a warm and welcoming space. Though the Marais neighbourhood is no stranger to cute coffee shops, Le Peloton on Rue du Pont Louis Philippe is a welcome addition with its funky tiled floor and cosy corners. Founded in September 2015 by biking enthusiasts Christian Osburn and Paul Barro, who also run the tour company Bike About, the space is decorated with colourful bike-themed illustrations, a shelf bearing beans from Belleville Brûlerie, and bright yellow chairs that you'll recognise easily if you follow all the Parisian Instagrammers in the know. Take a seat at the wooden bar to watch the friendly owners in action or perch on the stools by the window for a great view of the pretty balconies across the street. Our noisette (€3.50) was perfectly balanced, a lovely early morning treat along with a salted caramel doughnut from hip caterer Boneshaker (€4). Le Peloton's menu also offers homemade sweet and savoury waffles, as well as tarts and cookies made by the popular Mokonuts café.

Yelp
Really good coffee and the staff was very nice and spoke English. Place was very busy but definitely worth the wait.

Yelp
Signed up for an "off the beaten path bike tour"- We arrived at the meeting point, Le Peloton Cafe and were greeted by smiling friendly faces serving great coffees! Our tour guide Noel was easy going and had a nice story with each stop/ landmark on the tour! The biking was very easy & it was wonderful to see paris in a different way. 3 hours flew by! From Roman relics, to royalty courtyards , to film locations of Emily in Paris we saw sooooo many places we would otherwise have never known about! This is a great tour with great people, I highly recommend

Robyn P.

Yelp
Great place for a coffee fix! Staff are very obliging! Not your standard Paris coffee!
google avatar

Kristen L.

Yelp
Just a friendly place with great espresso. I did not order food, but their waffles looked absolutely amazing. I do want to point out that indoor seating is limited, so if you're looking to sit in a cozy cafe on a rainy day this may not be the right spot during peak hours. My French is absolutely terrible as I'm from the US, but it seemed like all of the employees here are fluent in English. If you're in a situation where you don't speak any French at all (not even conversational), you may feel more comfortable ordering here.
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Great little café that rents bikes. Tiny, but so seats outside. Vibrant area, and the service is great - especially if your French is almost non-existent like mine. They even had a water bowl for dogs.
google avatar

karen f.

Yelp
fantastic coffee if you're craving really good coffee shop coffee you'd find in the states. Also super friendly staff and very cute and cozy interior.
google avatar

B. K.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee, super-friendly service and wonderful decor. We also LOVED that people brought their dogs in!
google avatar

Leah H.

Yelp
The staff was friendly and they spoke English very well. I ordered the waffles with strawberry jam and a glass of milk. The milk was from Normandy and it had a sweet flavor. I really enjoyed both the waffles and the milk. The cafe also had bikes available to rent!
google avatar

Stephen H.

Yelp
A small cafe serving delightfully "light" waffles (think all the waffle flavor, none of the expected density of what most of us think of when we hear that word) in both savory and sweet incarnations. They've also got homemade cakes and cookies to finish up whatever you decide to order. Keep in mind that it's a small place, so if you've got a group larger than 5, and you don't want to wait, this might not be the place for you. But if you've got some time, and a smaller group, it's worth a stop.
google avatar

Victoria G.

Yelp
Went here for coffee with my husband. We loved the atmosphere and were so glad that everyone spoke English. I got the chocolate mocha and it was sooo good! Great service, friendly staff. Would definitely come back.
google avatar

TJ N.

Yelp
Cutie lil' cafe (w/an amazing cake baker caddy corner across the street). This is where you want to go for a funky, fresh, fast post-hipster cuppa. Or rent a bike? Why not? What a cool combo.
google avatar

mark s.

Yelp
Nice breakfast spot - friendly staff. Good waffles and coffee - cool atmosphere. Fun to try French but it's a nice respite to just order in English.

S. W.

Yelp
It's cute , but , i recently purchased a 1/4 kilo of coffee for 20 euro. My god the most expensive coffee i have ever purchased - and the price was not marked on the shelf, and it is like drinking the old Folgers, or Maxwel house, coffee of my youth. Shit.So maybe first price this on the shelf.
google avatar

Emma G.

Yelp
One of my favorite cafés in the city. Two amazing owners who also run a bike rental agency and tour company. Always a great cappuccino and even some tapas nights lately, which I have been enjoying! And the smell of waffle
google avatar

Gillaine V.

Yelp
Western style coffee shop! Sounds super basic of me to be in Paris and want something not Parisian, but I'm used to my coffees being more than a shot. They tried to make me a mocha, which was really nice of them to try. The chocolate didn't dissolve fully but the coffee itself wasn't bad. Cute little spot to hang out and relatively walkable from Notre Dame Cathedral!
google avatar

Stacy H.

Yelp
Fantastic little café in the Marais. Had a latte & it was probably the best coffee I had during my visit. Make sure to get some waffles with your coffee! Paul & the rest of the staff are super friendly & switch between French & English effortlessly. Will definitely be coming back during my next trip. Have to try out one of the bike tours next time. :-)
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
The best mornings start at Le Peloton Café! Every time we come to Paris we book our lodgings based on proximity to my morning wafel (with jam) and latte. The espresso and the chocolat chaud are also excellent. Convivial atmosphere and great conversation in many languages!
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop in Paris. Everyone spoke english and the service was great, friendly and fast. The coffee, latte, was excellent. Great spot to just chill out and relax, wifi, people watching, good vibes here! Great place to just hang out and take a break from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Food looked good too. Found out about this place after doing a bike about tour, (which was also excellent)!
google avatar

Domonique B.

Yelp
The coffee enthusiast coffee! lovely coffee - fantastic waffles and wonderful Coffee Aficionados behind espresso machine and of course don't forget about Bike About Tours!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here many times and always excellent service and delicious coffee, free WiFi,filter coffee was excellent, food also was yummy, great location
google avatar

Ruth H.

Yelp
Excellent coffee made professionally. This is rare in Paris. Perfect Cappuccino. Great service
google avatar

Tom W.

Yelp
Ideally located, just a couple blocks off of the Seine where you can ride without traffic worries. Coffee and cycling are always a good mix, and this place captures the essence of this. Enjoy a great cup before and after your ride. The proprietor is American born so perhaps the reason we ran into so many Americans there. That aside, the bikes were perfect for a short run around town. Some bikes have baskets if there is a shopper among you. The owner also provides you with a lock and key in the event you want to see something where you cannot take your bike. The owner is a great guy and very helpful.
google avatar

Logan C.

Yelp
Good vibes at this minimalist little bike themed cafe. Decent amount of seating, sit at the counter or in the window if you can. The cappuccino was good but the waffle with strawberry jam was better - hot and not too sweet and the jam was tart and flavorful. Friendly, English speaking, service as well.
google avatar

Coffee C.

Yelp
Our favorite spot for friendly service and good coffee. Read our full review on insta @coffeecopsparis #coffeecopsparis and see which places we've ticketed with bad coffee!
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Friendly faces, great conversation, helpful city tips and absolutely delicious fresh ground coffee. Their bike tours are the best in town, and they brew a great cup, so whether you need a terrific start to the day or a guide for how to spend your day, this is the place to go.
google avatar

Nathan M.

Yelp
There are a lot of great coffee shops in Paris, but this one will stand out as one of my favorites. I was walking by on my way to Notre Dame when I heard MGMT playing and I had to go in. The music is great. The coffee is solid. The staff and patrons are super friendly and speak both English and French. I sat here for almost 3 hours reading a book at the coffee bar and had a most enjoyable time. If you sit and enjoy your coffee inside as opposed to take and go, don't forget to pay. They accept payment upon the conclusion of your experience, not the beginning. Easy to walk right on out that door.
google avatar

Jordan E.

Yelp
Standard coffee, and takes forever. If you're in a rush don't order s chai latte. They brew the chai part from. Tea bag which on this occasion took about 15 minutes. If you've come to work it seems like a great place.
google avatar

Bob M.

Yelp
Want a quick cup of joe at a drive through? Go to a franchise store. Want an amazing cup of the elixir of life, from a barista who will engage in conversation, give you great local eatery recommendations, and has bike tours around Paris? Then you've come to the right place. Their lattes and cappuccinos are works of art that could be in Louvre. Their drip coffee is the best in Paris. And their bike tours are a hidden gem in a city filled with tourist traps. PRO TIP: the carrot cake. Do not pass go, do not leave without trying....as long as they still have some left because it goes fast. BONUS PRO TIP: try their waffles. You're welcome! Some of the most friendly staff I've met at any coffee shop anywhere work here. They speak English, along with a bunch of other languages. But most important...they speak COFFEE.
google avatar

Chelsea K.

Yelp
Nice little third wave shop on a quiet side street. The guys behind the counter were super friendly. It was mid-way through our visit in Paris, so it was nice to run into some native English speakers. We ordered two café allonge, but it was suggested that we try a filter coffee of a great bean they had that day. We were thankful for the suggestion, as the coffee was delicious! We even bought beans with us to take home. Check out Le Peloton Café if you're in the market for third wave brew in Paris.
google avatar

Rena M.

Yelp
Just fabulous! If you're craving a bit of American company, bit still want that French ambiance (not to mention great chai) then this is your place. We spent a couple.of hours here chatting with some exchange students. It was a delight. Great for a rainy day.
google avatar

Rick H.

Yelp
Great cafe with delicious waffles and excellent coffee. I went on their twilight bike tour and had a lot of fun ending with a surprise at the Eiffel Tower.
google avatar

M W.

Yelp
Visited to get a Belgian waffle for my son. Really enjoyed that, the hot chocolate, and the latte.
google avatar

Francesca G.

Yelp
Le Peloton is a cute little cafe on a side street between St Paul and Hotel de Ville. It definitely has a neighbourhood cafe vibe, which I really appreciate and find hard to come by in Paris as many coffee shops and cafes seem like they're always churning out customers as fast as they can. I've been here a few times, just for coffee so can't comment on their waffles or snacks (which they get from amazing places like Mokonuts apparently!). Decent coffee, normal Paris prices, nice staff (the guys all speak English), and a neighbourhood vibe in a great part of the city. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Mersilda H.

Yelp
Best welcoming English/french speaking place in Paris , great area and the Café is nice too! Loved the coffee and the homemade granola with fresh yougurt! Definitely going back

Mario D.

Yelp
On a chilly rainy Paris morning I popped in. I went with a cappuccino and a waffle... both excellent!! I I charged my phone as I ate and hung out for a while because of the weather. I ordered an espresso and chatted a bit with one of the employees. They do bike tours and bike rentals. Next time I'm in Paris I think I'll do a bike tour with them!! :)
google avatar

Jimmy Z.

Yelp
This place has a good chill vibe and since you are reading this in english, you will probably be down to chill at a spot that is run by english speaking people at least once during your stay. The food was pretty good, definitely much better than decent. I had waffles and eggs with bacon, and a coffee. I would go here at least once a week if I lived in Paris just for the mellow vibe and to talk to people in English.
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
Super slow service (30 mins for a coffee to arrive), burnt cookies and not possible to pay by cards or app. Also pretty sure the guy behind the counter was high (!) and therefore super blasé about the whole thing. Very shocked. Would not come back nor recommend.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
A gem! Perfect little coffee shop in midst of a morning walking around Bastille, The Seine, and the shops along Rue Rivilo. Noisette (machiato) perfectly pulled to engage entire palette! Added bonus: the proprietor is into biking! They run biking tours around the city and beyond.
