Le Petit Château

Room was exactly as expected, warm (despite minus temps), nice decor and bed very comfortable. Reception was friendly and welcoming. We stayed for 1 night and were fortunate there was no wedding on that night as even other guests returning to their rooms was extremely noisy (after 11pm) so sound proofing seems minimal. We loved that breakfast was both a mix of continental buffet and order hot food from the menu, however the portion side of the vegan breakfast was very small (1 of each item) so that could be improved. None of this would stop us staying again or recommending to friends! Note: EV charger working a 2 minute drive up the road very convenient

The hotel was lovely very quirky just what we like. The location is perfect out in the countryside. The room was really nice, brand new carpet but the room we had (room 4) right above the lounge that had a group of very loud people in it and we struggled to sleep as it went onto midnight. It wasn’t my best sleep I have to admit. The hotel cost for the night with BB was very reasonable but the restaurant prices are quite high for being a pub style restaurant. A mocktail well basically tonic water with a wedge of lime was £8 - that was sore to swallow. The sharing platter was £25 but I had to admit it was insane and worth it! Best thing we got. The £10 chocolate strawberries in the room were also insane and worth every pound. The service for dinner and breakfast was amazing all the staff were really nice and super friendly. Not sure if it’s the time of year but they didn’t have a lot of the items on the menu but that didn’t really bother us. The steak and ale pie was very expensive for what it was £20. My chicken shawarma for £18 was worth it though very nice and super big portion. The whole hotel was very clean and tidy and loved the decor. Breakfast was lovely slightly strange that the continental was served from on the bar top but was plenty options and the hot menu was good but didn’t get my normal eggs Benedict as it was a £5 supplement charge for it! All in all very nice, would stay again if we didn’t have that room.

The bedroom was lovely and big with a comfy bed, Netflix on the TV, and a seating area. The tea tray had gorgeous extras including local chocolate and biscuits (but was missing ‘normal’ teabags so we had to ask for those!) The bathroom was huge and had a gorgeous looking shower with Temple Spa products but we didn’t get a chance to use it. I’d rather have had a bath but didn’t specify this so can’t complain. The hotel atmosphere is lovely and warm and cosy. The lady that greeted us on reception was very friendly. Overall the room was good value and we would visit again. ||The staff on the bar and covering the restaurant were young and seemed inexperienced - service for dinner was very slow in spite of the restaurant being mostly empty, and at breakfast we had to ask for more tea. When the fresh teapot arrived we then had to ask for the old one to be removed and ask for more milk (things I think should have been obvious). The buttermilk pancakes weren’t available but crepes were offered instead - these were disappointing and tasted reheated (rubbery) rather than freshly made - which I didn’t expect given the restaurant is marketed as an “inn and creperie”. I’m not sure why they say this as there aren’t crepes on any menu! A few menu items at dinner weren’t available. My salad was delicious but not as described (there was no quinoa, lentils or kale). The dessert - a chocolate malt cake - was just fine. Food was overpriced for what it was and I wouldn’t necessarily choose to dine there again. ||We did the Otterburn village trail walk which was beautiful - a fairly easy walk, 1.5 hours, and on a crisp winters morning.

We had our wedding at Le Petit Chateau on the 2nd October 2025, it was forecast rain but the wedding gods were kind and shone sunlight down on our special day and the photos came out perfectly. The day truly couldn’t have gone better. The venue was absolutely beautiful, the perfect setting for our day, and everything ran so smoothly from start to finish. A huge shout-out to Peter, the master of ceremonies. He was incredible. He kept the whole day flowing effortlessly, made sure we were always looked after, and was right there whenever we needed anything… even holding the groom’s beer during the photos! We’re so grateful for how seamlessly everything came together. Highly recommend this venue for anyone wanting a stress-free, magical wedding day.

We stayed two nights in room 9.|We were underwhelmed with the room for the price we paid. |No where suitable to hang clothes, just an old built in cupboard. No where to put suitcase had to leave it on the floor. Couldn't unpack all of our clothes as no where suitable, left our clothes in our suitcase on the floor. |All wiring exposed in the ceiling which looked unfinished. |Bathroom was pretty. Food was very good. Staff very helpful.

Went for lunch. Young ladies, staff were pleasant and welcoming. My son had an excellent stacked burger and I had Steak and Ale pie, mash & veg, the pie was full of Steak and tasty. We both enjoyed our meals. Good coffees also.

I had the absolute privilege of attending my sister's wedding at Le Petit Chateau in late December, and I felt compelled to leave a review after seeing a handful of one-star comments, that based on experience, simply didn't reflect reality!||From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so incredibly welcome and cared for. As part of the bridal party, I saw firsthand how calm, organised, and attentive the team were - nothing ever felt rushed or stressful, and every detail was handled with a genuine care and professionalism. ||The evening before the wedding, we dined at the venue and were blown away by the quality of the food and service. The staff were polite, friendly, and efficient, and the meal set such a positive tone for the entire celebration.||We (the bridal party) stayed in 'The Apartment' in the Chateau the evening before the wedding and could not fault the service. The Apartment was such a lovely touch as it allowed us all to be together the night before! The morning of the wedding we were provided with a lovely selection of breakfast foods - which were delicious and piping hot - to our room, which was amazing. The drinks were constantly topped up and the overall atmosphere of the morning was relaxed and joyful. ||Tia, who was the wedding coordinator was absolutely faultless and we felt as though she had everything under control at all times. She was incredibly kind and patient with our little page boy, offering encouragement and reassurance as he attempted to walk down the aisle (even if it didn't quite go to plan in the end!).||The food at the Wedding Breakfast deserves a special mention - it was absolutely outstanding. We are still hearing compliments from the guests about how delicious and beautifully presented every course was. The vegetarian and gluten-free options were particularly impressive - they were clearly thought out and as delicious as the standard menu, which is something you don't often see. ||The Master of Ceremonies, Peter, was also amazing - warm, proactive, and very attentive. He went out of his way to speak with guests, help with any and all requests, and was especially lovely with our little page-boy, going on multiple milk runs for him and getting him extra food! ||Having now experienced Le Petit Chateau myself, I can honestly say I don't recognise the venue described in some of the negative reviews. Our experience - and that of the entire wedding party - was nothing short of exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to make the day feel special, personal, and completely stress-free. The staff were absolutely amazing and attentive. ||If you're considering Le Petit Chateau for a wedding or special occasion, I would wholeheartedly recommend it. A stunning venue with an amazing team behind it!

Great staycation, wonderful staff so lovely and welcoming! Our bed was so comfortable and had a great nights sleep, it was lovely and clean . Despite the cold weather, our room was lovely and warm. Bath was nice and deep. I’d highly recommend.
