Where to Get a Fulfilling Breakfast in Detroit Right Now

"This East Jefferson Avenue restaurant offers “chicken and waffles Thursdays” where the eponymous dish goes for just $13. The restaurant makes its own sweet mint tea that sells by the jug, always includes fresh fruit with its waffles, and makes a powerful shrimp and grits." - Serena Maria Daniels

Le Petit Dejeuner Breakfast is a restaurant I would continue driving an hour to get to. From the start, the warmth here makes you feel at home. The hostess welcomes you with kindness and attentiveness, and our waitress added joy with her engaging conversations and dedication to ensuring our experience was an A+ (she'sis the Owner's mom and a complete jewel). Meeting Tina, the owner, was another highlight—her passion for the place is contagious. The food? Simply divine. The pancakes, with their crispy edges, took us back to childhood mornings. Eggs and grits were savory, the bacon thick and perfectly cooked, and the honey-drizzled chicken was melt-in-your-mouth good. Dining here feels like being back at Big Momma's table, full of love, laughter and food that hasn't been rushed, but cooked from a joyful place. A perfect 10 out of 10, and we can’t wait to return!

Food was so good but the interior could use some work. My brother got the wings and he was in heaven. Omelette was so perfect and the English muffin was crispy.

Google
Very nice small diner feel. They just moved from their Jefferson location and are still getting set up, but the kitchen is in good shape. Pancakes were fluffy and crispy, good seasonings on the eggs. Croissant french toast was a little wet but still a tasty experience. The shrimp in the shrimp and grits was on point.

Well since relocating it’s different, definitely empty! They Ask for you to pay first before you get the food … They obviously have to remodel as well but in all honesty they need new waitresses and host with better experience and a faster pace.

Unforgettable Brunch Vibes & Flavor for Days! My husband and I stopped in for breakfast, and it was hands down one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and I’m still thinking about it. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection, sitting on top of golden, fluffy waffles with just the right touch of sweetness. Every bite was pure heaven. My husband went with the omelet, and it was just as impressive—light, fluffy, and loaded with fresh ingredients. You can taste the quality in every bite. Instead of the usual coffee, we treated ourselves to orange juice and mimosas—great decision. The juice was fresh and bright, and the mimosas were perfectly balanced—just the right amount of bubbles to kick off the day. The service was warm and attentive without hovering, and the atmosphere felt like a mix of cozy and classy—great for a casual brunch or a mini celebration. If you're looking for a place that delivers big on flavor, hospitality, and good vibes, this is the spot. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
The food was excellent. This is a new location for this hidden gem originally located on Jefferson. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to return

Google
Amazing service, amazing food! I saw this place online and thought I would give it a try when I arrived in town. They are at a new location and it’s a work in progress. I almost left because I wasn’t sure I was at the right place, but I’m glad I didn’t leave. I had the croissant French toast, the catfish, fruit bowl and potatoes. It was all very good and flavorful. A plus for me was that they even wash the fruit. The service was great as well. They were very personable and nice. Again, if you are looking for ambiance, they are rehabbing the place so just get the food to go. If you are looking for well prepared and well seasoned food, definitely go! You won’t be disappointed! Definitely A plus.

Google
Minor upgrades needed. Food was very flavorful and appealing. Timing was off on dishes brought out. The atmosphere was quiet but bearable. Needs improvement on decor. Overall, I'll definitely be returning for another experience!

Yelp
5 stars for the food and for our server - I think her name was Brittany. She was fabulous. The food was fabulous. The live music was fabulous. The waiting for our food was not so fabulous. Definitely can't be on a schedule if you go here. But if you like a leisurely breakfast and you don't mind waiting quite a while for your food, this place is top notch! We had a few things for the table that were shared: sweet potatoes were delicious! My father swears he doesn't like sweet potatoes and he kept eating these saying, "wow, these are so good!" The build your own crepes with sun dried chicken sausage, spinach, tomatoes and feta cheese were to die for! I almost ordered more to take home! The strawberry crepes were delightful. The sun dried chicken sausage is full of flavor. You can't go wrong with any of those dishes! There was a live band playing which helped with the passing of time while we waited for the food. They were very good and the volume was just right. The staff at the restaurant took great care clearing and cleaning tables, polishing silverware, and making sure everything was properly presentable.

Yelp
Wow. Just had some delicious savory crepes with veggies and chicken apple sausage here! Great vibe, music, genuinely nice people. Very unique inside.

Yelp
From the lack of parking to the quality of service, I was not impressed. Openned late, we were given a long table upstairs over looking the dinning area below. Drink choices are juice, tea, or coffee. No soft drinks so water was my only choice. Since the meal is served family style, you will share with all at your table. Since we were a large group, we got 7 choices. The food came out slowly, very slowly. Trendiness and at times to me weirdness seems to be the theme. The banana Foster french toast was the best of the bunch. Bacon didn't taste that maple and had too much fat. No butter offered for the pancakes. We had to ask for more water. Rarely checked on except when another plate of food was brought out. If we had limited time, it would have been a problem since it was a long meal. I have no clue why this rank as a place to try since I can easily come up with a long list of better places for brunch.

Yelp
I've visited twice on a Saturday about an hour before closing and each time there was no wait and everything we wanted on the menu was available. The place is very unassuming, but please don't let that discourage you. The food was delish and the staff is pleasant. They do give you plastic ware and plates which was a bit disappointing, but did I mention the food was GOOD! And the prices are more then reasonable. This restaurant is family style. so you and your party just agree on the items you want. There or no separate orders/checks. We've had the bacon, sausage, chicken wings, shrimp and grits, potatoes, eggs, pancakes, french toast and all were very good. I would say the drink specials could use more alcohol...but other then that....great value and taste for your money.

Yelp
You can order a family style brunch. The food is good but the ambience is something left to be desired! The tables are too close to each other and the service is subpar ( with tip expected)! I have tried this restaurant on three different occasions and the results have been the same, decent food and crappy service! Don't waste your time or money!

Yelp
Nice brunch spot. The food is actually really good. I gave it 3 stars because of the atmosphere and the wait times. We put in a reservation but it took a long time to be seated. The parking is also iffy as well.

Yelp
We enjoyed ourselves immensely! Live jazz music during Belfast is my new favorite! The service was okay, not as attentive as it would have liked. The food was amazing! Chicken wings were , crunchy, seasoned perfect and fried perfect. Waffles were really good, great texture, sweet potato pancakes were to die for! Full of flavor Bur could have been a bit fluffier. The chicken sausage was okay. Scrambled eggs and cheese were good, grits were okay...needed to be creamier. The fruit was tasty; juices and sweet! Wonderful experience and can't wait to visit again.

Yelp
We enter to enjoy breakfast & walked right back out!! This restaurant need a remodel, because I've seen dinners more up to date.. the name don't match the decor.

Yelp
Don't reserve a table, not only because you'll regret going here but also because you do not need one. We went on a Saturday morning around brunch, and thought it was closed because chairs were stacked on the tables. It was open. When we walked in someone walked in after us and told us how incredible the food was and how he planned to take a friend who was coming into town there and wanted to make a reservation, in person, he didn't stay to eat. The food was unremarkable, family style, pretty expensive for what you get, esp the ambiance and service not being great. I ended up getting eggs over easy, bacon, sweet potatoes, and toast. The toast was good, the sweet potatoes were candied, I didn't like them but my husband did so the verdict is out on whether I just found them disturbing or if they actually were good. Either way they are heavily candied, very sweet. The bacon was normal, and the eggs were not seasoned. My husband tried to order the chicken and waffles but after ordering he was told they ran out of wings, weird. Anyway, I wasn't a fan and wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Very difficult to find somewhere to park, place is not up to date , most of the staff are rude an wont say anything to u for at least 5-10 mins. When Seated we had to literally yell an ask for a menu. Came in on a SUNDAY and they didnt have any meat besides chicken wings & bacon literally no other meats they should not have opened today with this much missing from the menu. No catfish , no ham, no salmon croquettes, no sausage, no tomatoes, no apple juice, like at this point why even open the restaurant today? Everything we wanted they did not have which is CRAZY considering this is a brunch restaurant with about only half of there menu actually in stock.

Yelp
Wow! This place is amazing. Parking is horrible due to construction issues on Jefferson. How the food here is worth the hunt for the parking space lol. The customer service was impeccable. From Brittney and Nish ( hopefully I spelled their names correctly) to the owner the entire experience was delightful. My wife and came across this restaurant on TikTok. What a wonderful discovery. The food here is awesome. The family style dining is suitable for for any group size. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Food and service was top notch. Great family owned local business. Everything we ordered was delicious. I like the concept of their menu. Food took a little longer than we would normally like so don't come hangry. Will be back again if I have a Detroit layover.
google avatar

Yelp
Fried chicken and waffles is fire. Service could be faster but worth the wait. Live jazz in the background is good too.

Yelp
This restaurant serves family style brunch, a different concept than most restaurants. It's It's great concept, but we didn't try it and instead chose the Living Single option because you're only allowed to choose one omelet with the option that was for 2 people (I can't remember the name of it). Omelette - light and fluffy, but prepared in a little too much butter. You can choose up to 4 items - nice choice of veggies, meat, and cheese Bacon - crispy, just like it should be. There's nit much worse than "soft and limp" bacon Potatoes - if you're a fan of dill, you'll like them. If you're like me and don't like dill, I wouldn't recommend them. They're crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I just didn't care for the dill Coffee - not the best. There are other items to choose from as well, that's just what I had. Service - good, but slow. It took about 40 min for our food to come out. Our server did check on us once while we were waiting and then again after the food came out to make sure everything was satisfactory, which it was. Atmosphere - nice. There's live music....kinda jazzy, a little bluesy. It's a small restaurant, but the tables aren't crowded together so you have plenty of room and don't feel like you're sitting on top of each other.

Yelp
The shrimp and grits was greasy my bf ordered Catfish and grits (asked for reg. grits but I guess they thought giving us shrimp and grits was an added bonus) the catfish looked great... but it was noticably unseasoned with parsley flakes on top I felt bad because I offered to treat my partner to brunch and this was the result.

Yelp
We waited 2 hours for food. We were here for my cousin's birthday with a reservation period they could not accommodate our reservation But seated us and had us wait for two hours while they figured it out and cooked the food. While the food was delicious the wait time was inconceivable; we were not happy and we will not be back again. We watched tables of people come in after us and not only get their food before us but also leave. What should have been and easy carefree birthday celebration turned into a quiet fight to not whoop everybody's ass in there. They seated us upstairs in some make shift balcony with the hardest seats I've ever had to sit on; the table was better suited for a picnic outside at Belle Isle than an indoor restaurant. People on the first floor had glassware and utensils we had plastic cups and drive thru coney island utensils. The drinks were barely alcoholic. Kool-aid has a better taste than what we had. The mimosas and the rum punch were watered down trash. I have yet gone to a Michigan establishment that required a deposit that was worth it; this place is no exception. We placed our order and conditional things were brought instead of what we ordered. We all heard what the available options were and picked what we wanted from that, yet other things made their way to the table because they were out. We didn't even get the opportunity to select what we wanted, we were just given something. This place is not suited for big parties. There were 11 of us.

Ebony M.

Yelp
Let's start by saying I loved this place but emphasize on loved being past tense. So we were sat on the dirtiest bench seats in the back of the restaurant. We ordered water and received water with one ice cube but let continue with this experience btw it's my moms bday and she used to love this place as well. So I ask for ice to add to my room temperature water and got a 6 oz cup with four ice cubes not hard to count because I guess cold water in the summer is an issue. While waiting to order a big dust bug fell from the ceiling fan on to the table. Why didn't I leave at this point .

Yelp
Had an amazing breakfast at Le Petit Dejeuner. The food and the service were excellent.

Yelp
Ordered food from Uber eats. Uber Eats said it would be ready at 1:10 for pick up. Stood in the restaurant for 45 minutes: I am deeply saddened to write this review but it's my truth and what happened. The health department missed a stop this year. It's truly disgusting in there. Behind the counter a lady was doing billing or rather constantly and repeatedly counting receipts. Just over and over again. She was standing...in this wooden cut out area...the floor... caked on dirt, mud, electrical cords, cobwebs, I was sickened. I thought I was going to be in and out but here's what happened... and no, I do not recommend. When I got there three other ppl were waiting for their food, a young woman, and a couple; after 15 minutes they received their food. I stood there patiently and super excited for these pancakes they have on their menu, totally no issues waiting, completely cool. Guys, 15 minutes turned into 20, 20 to a half hour, guys...I waited for 40 minutes, when my order was marked ready on Uber eats and it was placed almost 40 minutes before hand..... I was told mine was being made. Or next up. Then finally- at the 40 minute mark (but really almost 2 hours due to the order, confirm time and pick up time on Uber eats) I was told because of a large table upstairs, they got behind and couldn't make my food- but I watched and no one bought out food to that table upstairs while I was there as they were eating already. Updates turned into excuses and I stood there just waiting, I just wanted Bunch and to support a local restaurant that hasn't been open for super long. I am so sadden by my experience. Honestly I felt discriminated against. Maybe they didn't want to serve me? I placed my order, others got their food, and I waited patiently, wasn't offered coffee, or to sit, every 20 minutes a woman would check in only to provide an update as mentioned, "yours up next"and then finally to be told, we just got slammed and couldn't make your food. I was being lied too. Why keep me there for almost an hour? And you guys, I wasn't waiting in my car or by the front door, I was standing literally in the middle of the restaurant. At the 45 minute mark, inside the store, I asked if the order could be canceled, of course it was marked as delivered- I had to dispute that through Uber eats. Do not recommend. The place needs a deep clean. Better management. There is one waitress doing everything, running around, picking up one task like wiping off plates-partly finishing it, picking up another task, and then returning back to the plates, in between grabbing drinks and wiping down tables. I watched for almost an hour. I only saw one waitress working, doing the best she could, the repetitive receipt counter, and another young lady I sporadically saw, filling up water glasses. Boxes were thrown in the back with a large amount of chairs, like someone just didn't care and threw everything back there. Really it looks like no one cares in here at all. Light bulbs are burnt out, filthy floors, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling fans, Piles of chairs, boxes of condiments, its really unfortunate I am observant by nature, had an hour to look around, watch what was happening, and had a poor experience. The staff blamed my order not being ready because of how busy they were but I only saw two orders going out besides the take out in front me and three tables were waiting, but I watched two tables walk in, and watched how it took 10 minutes for one table to be greeted and the other even longer to receive drinks. It's either truly no one cares and super poor management or discriminated against. Either way, I won't be going back honestly shocked. why accept the Uber eats order? Why say mine was next then after 40 minutes tell me it was just being made? Why did two other take out orders, get their food right away and I waited? Why is no one cleaning? Why are light bulbs out? Why is floor so disgusting? I don't know the answers to any of these questions, I do know the menu looks yummy but I will never go back and will never ever recommend this place. Cheers.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Menu was a little difficult to follow and not flexible. Service was ok

Yelp
Took a friend who was visiting from North Carolina and it did not disappoint! Everything was super tasty (and we tried a lot of dishes)-do not let the plastic plates deter you! The chicken sausage is amazing- unbelievable flavor and the eggs were perfect. They also had live jazzy music which was a total vibe as my friend says :)

Yelp
By far my favorite Brunch in Detroit so far! Le Petit is nothing flashy on the outside (in fact we drove by and had to double back to find it!!) but I promise you, this is some good, authentic, soul food feeling brunch! The food is served family style which makes it a go to spot if you have a group and want a taste of everything. The menu features dining options based on the number of items ordered. My boyfriend and I split three menu items and left feeling more than satisfied! Highly recommend the chicken and waffles (though it does count as two items!) Staff was kind and everything tasted freshly made. As a temporary New Yorker, this felt very budget friendly (though my wallet might be feeling a little numb right now) Can't wait to go back soon!

Dil S.

Yelp
Limited parking, very slow service, average shared plates. Omelette was fine, thinly sliced potatoes were soggy, grits were drowning in butter, wings had flavor but barely any meat.

Ashley B.

Yelp
Delicious! Party of 4 very satisfied after having Sunday Brunch. Great service and restaurant ambiance.

Sandra D.

Yelp
I had an amazing brunch today at La Petit Dejeuner on East Jefferson in Detroit. The shrimp and grits, and the chicken and waffles with caramelized bananas were outstanding. Go early. There is usually a line but worth the wait. We had live jazz this morning, too. Meals are served family style. Just tell the server what you want and she will explain how it will be served. Also enjoyed a nice pitcher of mimosas, which at first looked to have too much orange juice, but the test was in the taste and that did not disappoint. Will definitely hit this spot again for breakfast.

Sonya C.

Yelp
No, No and No. First and foremost, It took forever for the food to get to the table over 1 hour for breakfast??? Secondly, I was told that this is a family restaurant, so I can't eat here if I come alone? Next, they have this rocking cool loft space, bare walls, no art no VIBE -Heck you have a French Name, play some Nina Simone, Janet Jackson (french speaking song), I'm just saying there was no vibe just a cool location, poor service, poor decor. Pull together a vibe. I don't like prison eats looking at bare walls. IJS

Sierra B.

Yelp
I like this place. I had chicken and waffles which was really good! My chicken was nice and crispy with great flavors. I enjoyed the waffles as well. Everyone at my time enjoyed their food as well. I'll definitely come back to try some other things on the menu. Overall my experience was good!

A P.

Yelp
Sat down and was given a menu -- 40 minutes later, not even drink orders were in. I looked around and saw about 4 other tables with parties that had no food or beverages who were there before us. At that point we cut our losses and left.

S. M.

Yelp
I visited for the first time as a start to my 20th Wedding Anniversary. I added myself to the waitlist for 2 and was advised 30 minutes. I waited 45 minutes and went back to check the status and waited 15 minutes with no interaction from any staff member. There was a large party having a gender reveal/ surprise engagement so all attention was on them. I don't see that as acceptable by any means. The poor customer service resulted in me leaving instead, still 2 hours later no one has called to say my table is ready either. Sad to say the least.

Kaitlyn B.

Yelp
This place was very unorganized and unsanitary. The waitresses took their time to seat us and also when we were seated it was flies everywhere. We had to beg to change seats. We were seated for over an hour and not served. The menu was very confusing and also no one asked what we would like to eat. Overall I would not recommend this place at all. If no stars were an option it would be given.

Machelle W.

Yelp
Place was family friendly, food was fresh! Great place to go when you want a home cooked breakfast or brunch. Service was great, they made sure we were taken of. The cost wasn't bad at all. Definitely visit this place is everything!
google avatar

Cori H.

Yelp
They have great food, when they have it. Every time I've been here they are out of something. Today it was chicken wings. The mismanagement of the food ordering I can't deal with. It's unprofessional. Have everything you offer on the menu. If it was the first time that would be different, but it's a constant theme.

Lyss K.

Yelp
We waited two hours and our food never came. We tried to leave and they made us pay for our coffees (they also made a family who also waited two hours pay for a glass of juice for their baby when they tried to leave). The staff were incredibly rude and non apologetic and tried to blame it on it being busy because it was a Sunday...breakfast for two people should never take two hours and if it does you should be apologetic at the least!
google avatar

The313BrunchBabe F.

Yelp
So, I didn't have the best first experience here, but the food is pretty good! I didn't like the extremely long wait and slow service, but literally every restaurant is short staffed so pack your patience! They have a lot of options, and I love how their menu is set up to share!

Ashley Z.

Yelp
The best breakfast I ever had. Best chicken wings in the city. The service is great such a great family ambiance. I would eat there everyday if I could

Jelois D.

Yelp
I've visited this place on two separate occasions and each visit was 5 star. The food 5 star for sure. We went once right before closing and they still accommodated us. The second occasion, was on a busy Saturday during brunch hours; with a party of 5 and we were seated right away. I will definitely return.

Sam K.

Yelp
Had a great experience here. The food was fantastic and the service from our waitress Brittney was phenomenal! Highly recommend the corn pancakes and the wings.

Yelp
Many have said it and I didn't listen. Had heard some good things about this place, got there and they sat us immediately which was great, they took our order very quickly as well to our surprise. This was at 10am, the food finally came out at 11:05 (not even our orange juice came out before then), most tables had no food the whole time we were there just people waiting. Once the food got to the table we were hoping it was going to be amazing and make up for the wait but not only did they make mistakes in the order but the food was completely sub par, the presentation bad, there were smears of potentially ricotta on the plate that looked bad and the French toast was not well done and dry in the middle (see pictures). We also never got the orange juice and when we asked about it they said not to worry they would just take it out from the bill (they didn't have it). While we were there we saw 2 tables leave because they didn't want to wait.

Yelp
The food is outstanding! I plan to visit every time I'm in Detroit! Get the fried chicken, thank me later :)
google avatar

India W.

Yelp
The food was delicious!! Staff was very welcoming and super nice. I especially enjoyed the wings and croissant French toast. The wings were seasoned just right and seemed to have been lightly glazed with honey or something sweet. We also enjoyed the blueberry mimosas. Although it was a bit of a wait for everything to come out, it's was nothing short of amazing and worth the wait! Definitely more food than we could eat! They also had a live musician Looking forward to visiting again!

Yelp
Doesn't look like much on the outside and I wasn't recommend to eat there but Babeeeee once you get the menu with all the options and when the food get to your table hunny you'll think you ate from 5 star restaurant. Don't let the outside fool ya. ***Sorry I didn't get pic but I will next time

Joy S.

Yelp
First time visiting and unfortunately I was a little disappointed. Shrimp & Grits had no flavor at all and they were not hot. The buttermilk pancakes were not sweet and the syrup did not help. The batter needs some help. The cleanliness could be better also. Th staff was nice. Our waitress was really nice. I think her name was Monique or Monica. The omelet wa tasty enjoyed the chicken sausage. May or may not visit again.

Yelp
Dang, just dang. We were a party of 7. Ate Brady bunch style. Too much to recommend. Sweet potatoes, yes! Carrot cake pancakes, also yes! Shrimp and grits, so yes (, with a Lipitor on the side)!!! So good. Chicken and waffles? A must! Best I've had and I lived in Georgia/ South Carolina for nine years so I've had some shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles. LPD has the best! You will need to keep your eyes peeled when you are looking for it. It's kind of hidden on Jefferson on the city side of the Belle Isle bridge. Live Jazz made the brunch. Mimosas and bloody Mary's were excellent as well. Will be back. It will be worth the three hour drive from Zeeland.

Yelp
So I went to Le Petit Dejeuner for a Sunday brunch. Le Petit Dejeuner has been on my list to try and I was excited to visit. First there is street parking so that can be annoying, but that's typical of the city. Walking in was greeted by the hostess and were sat quickly. The host asked if we had been there before and then explained their family style serving. Then our server came and did the same lol. It was cool. Now we were well informed. We decided to order the chicken and waffles and the shrimp and grits. Also some potatoes. We ordered the option that serves two. Also note the shrimp and grits count as two sides. My thoughts on the food are it's really good. I enjoyed everything, but the shrimp and grits. So I was bummed it counts as two sides. They were kinda dry and bland. Some more butter flavor and shrimp was needed. There were only two in it. The chicken is AMAZING and the waffles are yummy. The potatoes are yum yum as well. I do hope they add more decor to the inside of the restaurant. To make it more cafe style or Parisian influenced, since the name is French. Overall you will get good food for the price. Also don't be in a rush, because there is a wait for food, but it's worth it. Oh there was a Dj playing music.

Yelp
So far not impressed, the menu is convoluted! The ambiance is lackluster. The coffee is swill. Why they turned the TVs on at 10 a.m. is for you to decide. The oatmeal arrived cold...we left a tip and headed to breakfast.

Yelp
This is a family style breakfast place. My friend and I paid 25.00 and we picked out 4 items. Fruit, grits, savory crepe and french toast. Drinks are separate. Coffee was weak and no one came by for a refill. I didn't like the frejch toast made with fresh bread. It was tough. Crepe was delicious and you can also get it fruit filled. Grits were good. Had to wait for our check but our server was friendly. This would be a great place to go with a group of four or more.

Yelp
Service was inadequate. We were sat slow and served slow. Food was really good but lunch took 1:30 mins.

Yelp
Not a great experience. My husband and I decided to come here for brunch on Labor Day. Bad decision. Allow me to explain. We arrived at 1:15pm. Waited 10-15 minutes to be seated. Once seated, it look another 15 minutes to order drinks. As we're chatting, I started noticing that the waitresses were running back and forth and more than half the tables were without food. Eventually our waitress came and took our order. We asked if there there would be a wait. She stated yes there's a little bit of a wait for the food. A little wait in our minds is like 30 minutes max. After 30 minutes, we began to get upset. Another waitress offered us a free appetizer of warm croissant and told us our waitress would bring it out for us. It is now 2:15pm and we're still sipping just water. We've been here for an hour and at this point we're ready to get up to leave. We see our waitress, and tell her that we were suppose to get a croissant. She said she'll be right back out with it. At 2:22pm, she brings us croissants with honey and butter. We then asked her what was the hold up, because we were hungry and going to head out. Our waitress stated that two chefs were out of town and the chefs that were supposed to come in didn't. Then at 2:38pm she brings us out half our order: an omelet and pancakes. The omelet was good, but SMALLER than what we expected. The pancakes were nice. Then at 2:43pm, we were brought out our shrimp and grits, and That was such a disappointment. It was full of grease and only came with 2 shrimp! Like I poured the grease out the bowl unto a plate (all pictured) just to really see how much there was. I love shrimp and grits. Been to New Orleans and have had the best shrimp and grits I've ever tasted. Yet, my bowl that I received was just bland, greasy, and the shrimps were chewy (meaning they were over cooked). We waited over an hour for this? Such a disappointment. No where in my mind would I return or recommend this place. AT THE LEAST, some sort of consideration could have at least been taken to all customers that it would take an hour and a half to receive our food. But no, we were kept in the dark. And believe, we were not the only ones complaining.
