"After more than two decades of serving classical French fare to downtown diners, French restaurant Le Petit Paris permanently closed on January 1 on the ground floor of the Plaza on DeWitt high-rise at 260 E. Chestnut Street, owner Alain Sitbon announced on OpenTable. An intimate spot favored by those in search of a romantic date night, it was known as a place where couples could linger over bistro favorites like coque au vin rouge and boeuf bourguignon or while away the hours over glasses of French wine." - Ashok Selvam

this is one of the best restaurants I've been to, the waiter-owner was captivating and made our evening wonderful, he is an incredibly polite and cheerful person, the food was also delicious, the atmosphere in the restaurant is wonderful, this is an amazing place, my friends and I left completely delighted. We thank the owner and employees for the warm and sweet welcome, we will definitely come back again 💙💛

Monsieur Alain is a joy! He’s a no-nonsense restauranteur who is very knowledgeable and serious about food. He owns & runs this small old school joint and wears many hats: host, server, bartender, & chef. Last night me and my boyfriend started with a bottle of red wine, escargot, and French onion soup. I selected the duck entree and he chose the liver. Of course we finished it off with creme brûlée. We will definitely return! Prices are very economical. If you’re looking for an Instagram aesthetic or Michelin star price point bragging rights, then this isn’t the place for you. If you’re a foodie then you definitely need to visit this place.

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. The cuisine is to die for, prices are unbelievable. The owner/chef is wonderful! I have been coming here for years. In response to a few reviews I read: Service may be a little slow as the owner/chef has been unable to hire waitstaff, this doesn’t bother me, I love talking to the chef. There was a comment about the chef being rude. LOL, I remember the first time I ate there and can see how someone may have that reaction. However, I loved it! I was reminded of being an American tourist in Paris and going to a French restaurant. My advice is enjoy the experience, this is an authentic French restaurant experience! As a regular I now miss that little bit of French hospitality LOL!

Such a great find! Tucked away in an innocuous condo building is this little corner of France. Authentic, fresh dishes served sometimes by the chef himself. Make sure to stop by to make reservations in advance as seating is limited.

Lovely experience even if the place is a bit dated and somewhat dark. The food was good and the service, though perhaps a bit quirky, good as well. Loved the authentic French cuisine that was straightforward and not haughty.

This place is amazing. A hidden gem. Our table had corn soup, onion soup, cheese plate to start. For mains we had steak frites and gnocchi. Everything was delicious. The owner is so nice and accommodating. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

A small piece of Paris right here in the Windy City! Don’t go for a quick bite, but for a dining experience. The food is amazing, and despite what some say about the service - it is actually top notch with a very personal touch. It is literally a Parisian experience - enjoy the slower paced dining experience instead of your typical American table service.

This was one of the best french restaurant experiences I have had. Allen, the chef and host is a delight, very charming and excellent host. One of the best onion soups I have had in America. The atmosphere is great too, with french music playing and feels very much french.
