The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Pointe-St-Charles - Eater Montreal

"The cozy and cute vibes of Le Petit Sao are guaranteed to please, particularly with its colourful Tonkinese soups and vermicelli bowls. Catering to both lunch and dinner crowds, this family-run Vietnamese stronghold features other highlights such as imperial rolls, papaya salad, or the General Sao — a bowl of fried cauliflower (or grilled chicken) and rice." - Daniel Bromberg

Google
Really tasty food with fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors. I had the chicken dish, and the portion was very generous, perfectly grilled and topped with crunchy peanuts. Great value for the quality and quantity!

I love this cozy, hawaïen vibe place. And yes I know it is more Asian, but for wtv reason it gives me that vibe. Their drinks are amazing and food super fresh. I come here pretty often and I always leave full, satisfied and healthy 🥰✨💚

The pho was very soso… too sweet… and quite bitter… none of the two of us could finish the pho.. not worth the price at all. And the rolls are CRAZY OILY.. Good music and relaxing ambiance tho. The beer is tasty.

Love the atmosphere, the service was ok and the food was ok too. Portion size was small for the price.

Honestly, with the high rating of this restaurant, I had bigger hopes. My soup was lukewarm, and the one from my friend wasn’t any better. The broth was tasteless, mainly a lack of flavour. The number of noodles in the soup was astonishing; 3/4 of the bol were noodles. The fresh spring rolls were cold and felt stale. The only acceptable item we ordered was the hot spring rolls, which were cold too… If this wasn’t enough, the chopsticks we initially received were dirty. And the employee did not seem very happy to be at work. If the items above were somewhat acceptable, we would have let them slide. Anyone could have a bad day. But the shocking part was the way the employee treated the delivery person. Treated them as inferior to them, which is unacceptable in front of clients.

Petit Sao is a great spot for a tasty and satisfying meal. The food is really good, with healthy options and generous portions that will keep you full. Plus, the prices are reasonable, making it a great choice for lunch!

Google
When I look to the old photos, it doesnt reflect what the brand is offering ! I always took a take out from Iles des soeur mais cette fois si jai esseiller in store ! The experience was perfect ! I had a quick launch break , the service, the food and the price was on point! Nothing to complain… love the new vibe that management is putting into, the food is always fresh and balanced ! I ordered the famous general tao, and their sauce is epic! The zest of ginger in it is the cherry on top! Ask about Kelly the manager , she will take good care of you! Merci ! Bon courage pour la petite sao team , you rock! 🫶🏽🌻

Google
The whitest establishment that served the most authentic Vietnamese food. Was a really pleasant surprise. The chicken pho felt just like home :)

Yelp
We ate at the Atwater location, and we ordered the picnic box. It was ready in a few minutes after ordering. The banh mi was amazing; super tender and crispy chicken, fresh and bright herbs and veggies, and crispy and light bread. The salad had the perfect balance of richness and crunch, and the dessert "tea" was a nice surprise. Definitely would eat here again!

Yelp
The menu boasts a diverse selection of dishes, and each item we ordered was prepared to perfection. The pho was particularly noteworthy, with its rich flavors and beautiful presentation.

Yelp
Blown away by this cute little Vietnamese spot in the Point! The rolls, soup and sandwiches all top notch. I went 2 days in a row! Friendly service.

Yelp
I love Vietnamese food especially in the summer time. It is fresh and doesn't leave you feeling too heavy. Decided to order from here and have a picnic in the park. The grilled tofu and chicken bowls were really great. The tofu was probably the best I've ever tasted in my life, it was so well marinated! I did find there were a lot of noodles and I would have preferred more toppings like peanuts and green onions to make it a little more interesting. The banh mi was good but not as great as the bowls. We had imperial rolls too but I wouldn't recommend them, the taste was a little dull. I would stick with the salads and bowls for my next orders!

Yelp

Yelp
This place does not impress. They have an extensive menu, but half of its is crossed off and thus not available. I ordered the fried cauliflower generesl tso's. It might have been edible , we're it not for the disgusting, browning bean sprouts. Gag.

Yelp
This restaurant needs to get their SERVICE ACT together. I popped in and ordered a small mango and papaya salad to go around lunch time. My order was paid for at 12:05pm. There's a bit of a line up but nothing crazy. As more people come in, I start noticing that the to-go lineup is growing while eat-in folks that ordered well after me are getting served. At 12:25pm, I ask when my salad will be ready... and... they haven't started making it yet. I turn around and see a few other takeout order folks getting worried about their order status as well. I got my food at about 12:33pm. Does the resto understand that many to-go orders come from folks who are particularly busy? People who order to-go so they can get back to their workstations ASAP? Why prioritize the eat-in folks? Hmm... maybe because they expect a tip that's conditional on service quality. The irony: I had PRE tipped the resto on my takeout order. Go figure. It's too bad. The food here is ok (not great, but ok), the place is clean, and it's conveniently located for me when I work from home. Full disclosure: the resto did comp me a fresh spring roll (I hadn't asked for anything to be comped). The gesture is was unanticipated and was appreciated (even though I don't eat fresh spring rolls) - hence the 2 star review rather than a 1 star review.

Yelp
The place is very cute, I passed in front of it everyday to go to work so I dropped there with some friends. My choice stopped on the bun bowl, it was okay, but there wasn't enough nuoc mam for me, and too much bean sprouts. The chicken was very good ! But that's just personal taste. My friends who took Pho were totally happy with it though. And the Banh Mi another one took was actually way smaller than we thought.

Yelp
Second time visiting this nice Vietnamese restaurant as it's close to my office. I tried both the banh mi (a bit small) and the bun cha and they were quite tasty. Reasonably priced as well.

Yelp
We're moving into the same neighbourhood, so we decided to check out the new restaurant on the block. We've heard about this place from our new landlord, so we were excited to try the food. We got two vermicelli bowls, one with grilled chicken and the other with tofu and shittake mushrooms, one tofu spring roll, and one Vietnamese iced coffee. All dishes were solid, and beautifully presented. Everything in the dish was flavourful and they complimented each other with the different textures. The one thing that bothered me was that in my tofu and shittake bowl, I barely had any of the mushrooms and wished that there were more of them. I'm guilty of this, but you can't really compare this to the "authentic" Vietnamese places in Chinatown or elsewhere. Le Petit Sao may not be the typical Vietnamese restaurant you're used to, but they got creative and delivered just as much flavour as any other Vietnamese establishment. Can't wait to try their pho next!

Yelp
Been to the other location a few times and it was amazing; I'm happy to say that this location is no different. My go-to order is the banh mi with a side of pho broth. Their banh mi is a modern interpretation of the traditional sandwich while still keeping the main features of a banh mi that everybody knows and loves. I've eaten hundreds of banh mi's in my life and theirs definitely ranks amongst the best. This place also has a nice homey atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My friends and I ordered appetizers and 5 main plates. We waited for 20 min for appetizers and an additional hour for mains. I went to check and they hadnt started to make our food yet. The supervisor and the cook were arguing in the kitchen... We decided to leave finally after 1:30 without eating mains and disappointed.

Yelp
This is a little gem that'll boyfriend and I found in point Saint Charles! First you walk in and the atmosphere takes you away on a trip of zen, especially with the big windonws that let the sun just warm you up (yeah take a window table ). Then the staff - super friendly, nice and serving. And of course, the food! Delicious! We had the tonkinoise pho - one was vegetables and the other grilled chicken. The broth was super tasty, the veggies fresh and the chicken was nicely seasoned and Perfectly grilled. We then couldn't resist to the banh-mi - it's like a sub but the Vietnamese just know how to make everything better. One sub was with grilled chicken and avocado and the other was caramelised pork. No need to say anything else - I wasn't really that hungry after my soup but I just couldn't stop eating, that's how good it was Definitely make this place a stop for your next food craves!!!
