Best Picnic Baskets To-Go From Montreal Restaurants and Bars - Eater Montreal

"Local casual Vietnamese chain Le Petit Sao offers two compact picnic boxes — the banh mi box and the tapas box — for pick up from the Old Montreal location. Both boxes come with a side of prawn crackers or dessert; options vary between locations, so be sure to check Le Petit Sao’s website for availability." - Holly Tousignant

If you're looking for something fresh and tasty, don't miss the opportunity to try this restaurant! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of the dishes. Everything was delicious and the portions were more than enough for two people. The drinks were also great and they paid attention to our request of few ice.

Sometimes when traveling I love to have soup for breakfast. It just sets me right for the day. I was delighted to find this wonderful pho restaurant. We loved it so much that we ate there two days in a row! The people were so very nice and the service was wonderful and the food was just excellent. I love how they have the different sizes of pho to fit whatever appetite you have. I had never seen that before. And I thought that was very genius. Thank you so much for treating us, right. One wonderful server even gave us a list of other places to visit. You have made our stay in Montreal memorable. Thanks again

I really like hole in the walls restaurant and this one was just that. We got there between 4:30 and 5:00 pm and it was almost empty, so there were no lines. The staff spoke both English and French. The waitress was really helpful with recommandations. We loved everything. It was all delicious!! I really recommend the Mama thi nems. Crunchy outside and the filling just delicious.

We arrived here quite early on a Tuesday evening and there was no other customers leaving us a bit hesitant at first, however we were pleasantly surprised! We ordered the chicken bun bowl and the banh Tom poutine. The chicken bun bowl was slightly light for our preference but still delicious. The poutine was so good! Perfect amount of vinegary and savoury the perfect viet/Montreal blend, they used yam fries which help keep it light and everything blended so well together :) The portions were also quite generous, my husband barely managed to finish the chicken bun bowl, and I got very full 1/2 way through the poutine. Nice hole in the wall spot in old Montreal!

I think the vibe of this place plays way too in to the “squiggly candle” aesthetic, to the point where the chopsticks are pastel. Am I the key demo? Probably not. The food was mediocre at best. I personally didn’t really like the my Bun bowl, the pork meatball patties were strange and had a weird pickled green onion(?) I think on them. Not really a fan. The papaya salad was good, the dressing was nice and tasted fresh. The pho was decent.

Delicious and filing. I went on a Thursday at 11:50am (to beat the lunch rush) and was so very glad I did. I had the rice paper tofu roll and the chicken Bahn mi (pictured). I didn't get a picture of the roll because it looked so good I just ate it up. Good portion and well marinated tofu with crunchy veggies. It was delicious and served with an equally good peanut sauce. The chicken Bahn Mi was the star or the show. The sandwich was a huge portion and stuffed with a well grilled and seasoned piece of chicken. I really enjoyed the pickled daikon and carrot that were in the sandwich. I have a coriander allergy and they easily accommodate it. They even have a table set aside to sit and wait for your take out orders. The space is small, and there is a large step to get into the restaurant. It is a long and narrow space so likely gets very crowded very easily. Very cute and the food is filling and delicious. Will definitely be coming back next time I have to go into the office.

Restaurant Review: Le Petit Sao in Old Montreal As a visitor with limited knowledge of French, I was delighted to find that Le Petit Sao in Old Montreal offers both French and English menus. This thoughtful touch made the dining experience more accessible and enjoyable, while I waited for my order. Dishes Ordered: Mama Thi Nems: These crispy Vietnamese spring rolls were a perfect start to the meal. They were filled with a flavorful mixture of ingredients, providing a delightful crunch with every bite. Chicken Bun Bowls: This dish was a delightful mix of grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, and vermicelli noodles, all brought together with a light and tangy sauce. The flavors were well-balanced, making each bite a refreshing experience. Grilled Chicken Pho Soup: Known for being tricky to execute as take-out, Le Petit Sao's Pho was a pleasant surprise. The broth was rich and aromatic, and the grilled chicken added a lovely depth of flavor. Packaging and Take-Out Experience: Le Petit Sao deserves high praise for their take-out service. The packaging was exceptionally well-thought-out and maintained the quality of the food. The Pho, in particular, was packaged to preserve the integrity of the broth, noodles, and fresh herbs, ensuring that it tasted as good as it would if served in the restaurant. Overall, Le Petit Sao in Old Montreal excels in providing delicious Vietnamese cuisine with a take-out service that truly stands out. For those who are not fluent in French, the availability of an English menu is a significant plus. This restaurant is a must-visit for both locals and tourists seeking a great Vietnamese dining experience.
