We had an extremely pleasant evening at the Le Petit Theatre. We saw Jersey Boys, which is one of my wife’s favorite plays. Buying tickets was very easy and they even allowed us to look at the seats in advance of purchasing. The theater is beautiful and comfortable and the view is very good from all of the seats. We will definitely go again.

Google
Great theater, amazing show! Highly recommend visiting and supporting! I went to their production of Ain't Misbehaving and had a great time.

Stop what you’re doing and go see a play at Le Petite Theatre. The prices are wry reasonable, there isn’t a bad seat in the house, they produce important pieces of work, and they support local artists. Plus, as season tickets for New Orleans arts organizations go, this is the very best bang for your buck. Can’t recommend them enough.

There is not a bad seat in the house! Very reasonably priced and phenomenal performance by cast in Doubt!

The Big Easy Beat is a must-see show for New Orleanians. Filled with fun and music that New Orleanians know all the words to. The aisles we filled with feel good dancing, even in the ADA section! Thanks to Le Petit for always accommodating my mom in her wheelchair.

Went to see Jersey Boys. First time to this venue. The cast was amazing. Wonderful show and love the intimate theater. I will definitely be back. If you enjoy theater this a great place to support.

We decided spur of the moment to go see A Christmas Carol. The actors were fantastic and the special effects were so cool. The technology was cutting edge and added greatly to the performance. The acting was superb from the townsfolk, the kids, and the spirits. This activity added a special touch to our visit this time!

This small and intimate theater always has amazing productions. I really truly enjoyed everything I have ever seen here. I'm sure they've put on a bad production at some point but I have never been to it 🙂

Yelp
I saw the Color Purple- The Musical during it's Industrial Night which is Preview Night. It was on a Thursday. Most of the audience were very proud family members! Feeling the love and fans from the audience even made it more special as I was sitting next to the mom of one of the performers! This theater has a lot of history! Even saw a ghost tour come by and tell a story about his experience. LoL! I saw or felt no ghost when I came here. This theater is small and it is over 100yrs old! was able to snag 4 front row tickets on the balcony. The height of the rail was low which allowed for great view but it was also a bit scary as the space was tight. There are no elevators to go to the balcony. Prepare to get a mini workout climbing those stairs and admire the paintings of the past board members which looks a bit ghostly and elegant. The theater is attached to a fancy restaurant where you can grab a drink from the bar. I tried to get a drink, but the line was long. And I said forget it. I'll have the water from my purse. I wish I planned ahead and got here earlier to enjoy a cocktail. There is an adorable courtyard with a fountain that you can hang out in. The actors were just amazing! Such a fun place to watch a show! Best part is... I saw a play with local actors and musicians! I felt the love and the community of NOLA. Definitely recommend this cute and charming place!

Yelp
We were there for a show, and we hoped to have a quick bite to eat. The place was packed, and it was hot outside, so we could only snag a small high top table next to the theater. The waiter served and treated us with the same care and attentiveness as someone with a reservation. Also, the food was delicious!

Yelp
I love going to Le Petit. History, art and culture all meet here to become a perfect amalgamation of New Orleans, but just a slice, as New Orleans is so many things. The setting couldn't be more perfect; a lovely old building on one of New Orleans' most famous corners, sandwiched between a wonderful local restaurant and bar (Tableau), and the incomparable St. Louis cathedral. It's a little worn with age, just the way we like it. The staff works hard to bring exciting and sometimes unusual plays, using the plethora of local talent with which we are so blessed. It's a small space, as the name suggests, which only adds to its charm. We often go for dinner and drinks at Tableau, then wander over for a show after. It makes for a perfect evening.

Yelp
Class act all around. So happy some normalcy is finally gaining momentum! Just keep the thugs under control and so many will be coming back to enjoy great theater! Tonite's performance was exceptional!

Yelp
I've been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to see two shows at Le Petit Theatre, and I have to say that this is such a lovely, intimate theatre. From the moment you enter, the staff welcomes you warmly. I've sat in the second row in the balcony, as well as the second row in the orchestra right section. The seats themselves were fine -- comfortable, had cup holders, etc. -- but the only issue is that if you're on the shorter side (like me), your view of the stage will be blocked if there is someone sitting directly in front of you. So you'll end up leaning to the right or left to try to watch the show through the windows between people's heads, since the seats are barely sloped enough to be stadium-style. Other than that, this is a great venue to see a show.

Yelp
We saw A Night with Janis Joplin on a whim and let me tell you it was fantastic! The singing was impeccable and the theater is really nice! There is a bar and courtyard to hang out in during intermission. From what we could tell, there really isn't a bad seat in the house but we sat in row K on the ground floor. Very impressed with the performance and theater all around!

Yelp
I've seen two shows here now, both reasonably different. One was a cabaret show starring Betsy Wolfe, and a showing of A Christmas Carol. Both experiences in this intimate, cozy theatre were perfect. For one thing, the size is such that there's hardly a bad seat in the house. Being on the extreme edges might be a little frustrating, but other than that you can't really go wrong. Comfortable seating, and reasonably roomy for the space. Also, it's just so darn cute!! Can't beat the history either. If you get a chance to see a show here: take it!! Worth the time you spend.

Yelp
If all of the productions are of the quality of the the musical "The Color Purple" that we saw, then I would say that you must check this gem out. The talent on the company didn't have to take a back seat to other productions that we have seen on Broadway. The bonus is that I don't imagine that there would be a bad seat in the house as I am estimating that the theater has a capacity of around 400. There are many choices of entertainment in NOLA but this one should not be overlooked.

Yelp
Awesome little venue in which to catch a show! Comfortable seats with enough leg room to accommodate my long legs. Yes, they even offer cup holders. Great acoustics. Easy access to bar, courtyard and restrooms during intermission. Friendly staff who makes the entire process from ticket buying to pick-up, hassle free. My only suggestion would be to ask that they wait to seat latecomers until after the first act, rather than inconvenience those of us who show up on time.

Yelp
Beautiful theater with comfy seats (not in the balcony). They've added cup holders too! Came in last night to see A Christmas Carol and WOW! Excellent acoustics, great lighting, great special effects, acting, production, and adaptation. I cried through the whole second act, I was so moved. We've come in a few times before - Streetcar, Once on this Island, a few others. As mentioned, the balcony really isn't very comfortable. The prices for the seats downstairs aren't too much more, so spring for them unless you want your knees in your chest the whole show. You can order drinks next door and bring them into the show. Insider tip, order one beforehand and leave your tab open. Makes the line move faster. Bathrooms are through the courtyard, but skip the line and take the elevator or stairs up to the second floor and use the loo up there! Whatever you do, support this theater and local actors!!

Yelp
Le Petit fsure. This small theater (seats just over 300 people) is an intimate venue with often ambition programming. Yes it can get crowded and now that patrons can get full strength drinks at Tableau...through the archway... watch out for drunks on the stairs! The theater seats in the balcony are tight so consider that when booking. The acoustics are good and every seat has a great view of the stage. I miss the even smaller theater (called the Children's theater when I was a child)... last play I saw there was the Complete Works of Wm Shakespeare Abridged. I saw the Tabasco Opera this past weekend in the theater and it sounded and looked great. I wonder how the orchestra fit in the pit?! Looks like your next opportunity to see something staged here, is Tennessee William Fest and Streetcar.

Yelp
I've never been to the Le Petite theater nor have I been to a musical performance. You can say I'm a virgin to the musical theater performance scene. I've got to 2 tickets to see Betsy Wolfe and I enjoyed it. The theater is very clean, cozy yet magical. I think I would enjoy movie theater more if the movie theater is as clean as the Le Petite theater. Betsy Wolfe performance is pretty cool. He voice is nice and the script is funny with nice transitions. Even my husband who doesnt like musical performances (he only likes comical performances) enjoys the jokes.

Yelp
Great little theater in the heart of the quarter. Saw a great play there that was a surprisingly great production. I love the venue except for the seats in the balcony which are very tight. The theater is small but clean with great sound and talent without paying the Broadway price. I will be back.

Yelp
I love this little theatre. Helpful friendly staff, great theatre and music with fair prices. I can't understand why it doesn't seem to ever be sold out. I think you should look at their calendar and support this theatre. It's always fun. Go next door and get a drink to take into the theatre with you from Tableau!

Yelp
I am hoping that A Christmas Carol is now on the bill as a traditional offering during the holidays. Excited to see it and experience Le Petit Theatre I was more than exhilarated by the performance! From Scrooge to the powerful projected effects the actors and stage crew outdid themselves. Really Really Really great! The Theatre has begun a youth theatre group of performers. They can start as early as 5 years old in a production and participate to 15 years as they advance into other parts. Great offering!
google avatar

Sandra B.

Yelp
Such a gorgeous theater, wonderful acoustics and all seating seems to be perfect since the theater is small but elegant. We saw A Christmas Carol last weekend and it was excellent. Emotional too! They are located next to an oyster bar and you can hop over to grab drinks before and during intermission. We can't wait to go back to see Janis Joplin this fall.

N H.

Yelp
We went the most fabulous Christmas Carol Scrooge play last night... Fantastic production acting sets and special affects. Except for being a smaller stage and cast than a big stage production it was superbly well done!!!! If you read this 12.21.19 there are tickets, we were told for this weekend available!! The bar next door Pavalon is connected to the theater lobby but go early if you want bar service there, for a Friday before Christmas they were horrible understaffed for pre and intermission bar service.

Yelp
Bathroom situation is one of the worst I've ever seen. One stall for females, no toilet paper, and no lock on the door. Used toilet paper and piss everywhere. And that's what I waited 15+ minutes for... Piano player was great and it's cool to have libations in a piece of history but make sure your bladder is empty before you come here.

Yelp
Saw the production High Priestess of Dark Alley last night. Phenomenal! My wife and I come to New Orleans from Chicago. This is our second time attending Le Petite Theatre. What a great venue. The High Priestess is a tale of courage, love, and commitment to oneself. I have a counseling and therapy practice in Illinois and would love to recommend this production to many of my clients. This is a tale of growth and hope that should be told again and again. If you are in town I strongly recommend this production. Get in and see it before you miss the opportunity to do so!

Yelp
I was visiting New Orleans in December from Baltimore. During my trip I wanted to do something "Christmasy". I had the extreme pleasure of of seeing their version of "A Christmas Carol". This is one of my favorite stories and I can be a tough critic but the cast and crew did an amazing job. I laughed, cried, and felt the spirit and redemption I believe Dickens intended. The theatre is small but beautiful. There is not a bad seat in the house and I found the price quite reasonable. I will be sure to visit whenever I'm here.

Yelp
Someone should make a Buzzfeed that says, "you know you are a fancy New Orleanian when..." and I'm pretty sure seeing a sneek peek of the new HBO film at Le Petit Theatre would be top on that list! That is what brought me to this tiny theatre in the French Quarter last week, and not only can I recommend the movie Bessie (for those readers with HBO), but I can also say that Le Petit Theatre is a quaint and cute little theatre tucked away near Jackson Square! My only complaint is that there is not much leg room, but it was clean and the staff were very friendly!

Yelp
There's not a bad seat at Le Petit. It's a small historic theatre with an intimate feel and two stages. There's a cute courtyard with a fountain, which is perfect for chatting during intermission (although a bit smokey sometimes), and they serve cheap drinks at their own bar in the lobby. This is one of the finest community theatres in the US. Ever since new management was brought in about 2 years ago, they're really improved the quality, and it's now running in the black! Yay! I've seen many shows here, and the best in my view have been some of the bigger musicals - Cabaret, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, White Christmas and Hairspray. I also really enjoyed Grey Gardens and White Noise. White Noise is part of the Theatre's recent move to take on controversial and interesting new works that play here first, then open off-broadway in New York; it was a great start to that tradition. They also do some small, interesting plays on the small stage, and I really wanted to go to - but missed - Wine Lovers, a play where you do a wine tasting druing the show. They've also started showing films from the historic new orleans collection during the day, and doing all sorts of small benefits with local celebrities and national celebrities who happen to be in town filming movies or working on other projects. The theatre's space right next to Jackson square, its historic interior architecture and decor, and the intimacy between the seats and the stage make it perfect for these types of events. Because it's a non-profit community theatre, they are always happy to get volunteers for all sorts of things - ushering, painting, taking tickets, cleaning up...

Yelp
I viewed Jelly's Last Jam here last night and really enjoyed the show. You can tell the actors really enjoyed working on it too.

Yelp
Such a darling little theatre in the Quarter. I cannot wait for another romantic night at this playhouse.

Yelp
Really, really LUV this place. Great little bar and courtyard downstairs. We saw Damn Yankees and Hairspray there. Excellent productions!! The only downside is the seating is a little cramped. Very sad when it closed this season. :( Hopefully it will re-open soon.

Yelp
Le Petit offers a large selection of community theater entertainment using local talent. It is a very well maintained small theater with an intimate setting, in a perfect location. Great shows, costumes and performers. It was a very enjoyable visit.

Yelp
Gosh I love this theater! It has a great little courtyard where the bar for our event was last night (http://www.yelp.com/events/new-orleans-nine-lives-a-musical-adaptation) The actual theater was intimate and the balcony seats we chose turned out to be a great vantage point with unobstructed views of the Nine Lives Musical Adaptation performance. (A stellar five-stars itself.) This morning I even went to their site to find out what else I can see here. If you see something you like playing here, I would highly recommend buying tickets. This historic theater makes me miss the Orpheum.

Yelp
A jewel of the quarter. A small intimate theater with no bad seat in the house. You could easily image ladies in petticoats and men in top hats enjoying a Mozart opera or bawdy burlesque. Tonites fair was the dress for Aida. Definitely an Elton John book. Great community theater in the heart of the Quarter. Went last nite and posted this am.

Yelp
Just saw "The New Century" here on the small stage. A flawless performance of an hilarious show. All five people in my group could not stop laughing for the entire show. MUST SEE. Love this theatre for all the resons mentioned in the othee reviews.

Len P.

Yelp
If you haven't seen " You don't know the half of it" then you don't know the whole of what you are missing. To say it is clever is an injustice and that it is hilarious and entertaining an understatement. The concept is fairly easy. Start with a short original script with parts A and B. Separate the two parts and give only one part to an actor who will be on stage with an improviser who does not know any lines or where the story is to go. The key is whatever the improvisor says the actor must carry on with their original lines. In a later act the part B lines will be acted and again an improvisor will come up with spontaneous responses. The result is nothing short of genius. As an added bonus there is a live band who, between scenes, comes up with original songs with familiar melodies to go along with the theme of the scenes. This is so well done to almost rival the main event. The shows are early evening on occasional Sundays so have to check the theatre schedule to see when one might be available. I can honestly not think of a better way to spend a Sunday evening in New Orleans and in that city that is saying a lot.
