The 21 Best Restaurants In Marseille - Marseille - The Infatuation

"Le Plongeon nails it on all counts. The warm service is accommodating (the prix fixe has no vegetarian mains that day? No problem, you can order two appetizers and they’ll adjust the price). The food—like zucchini velouté with confit lemons and cucumbers, or lightly-seared tuna with grilled squash swimming in fennel purée—is fresh and colorful. The glass-walled dining room is airy and bright, and the big terrace out front, set back from a relatively quiet street and facing a church and blooming bougainvillea, is sunny, even in the winter. Take a seat outdoors and go full vacation-mode with a frozen cucumber cocktail. Reserve if you can, but you shouldn’t have too much trouble walking in if you don’t." - sophie friedman

Absolutely amazing food in a great area that is more quite area. Menu is set and limited options, but the quality of the ingredients and the flavor was delicious.

We stopped here for lunch, where they offer a choice of 3 starters, 2 mains and 3 deserts. We went for the shaved melon and nuts, plus the gaspacho, then followed with the fish of the day and house Creme Brulee...all the dishes were put together with care, ensuring they tasted just as good as they looked. It is obvious the team actually eat and perfect their own food (something I am often not sure of!) . The service was relaxed, friendly and efficient, the wine a little pricey, but not too high. We were very satisfied and will definitely go again.

Fresh, carefully selected ingredients and beautifully crafted plates — I was delighted to start my Marseille trip here. The owner was very welcoming, and the young chef truly has the talent of a future Michelin star.

Fantastic restaurant. Everything is very simple. You choose the standard of wine you want to pay. They then let you try two different types from that price band. It works very well. The menu is also really simple, with just a few options per course, depending on what is available. Food and wine are both very good. The staff are great too, very helpful and make sure you feel comfortable. Would strongly recommend it if you are looking for food in the area. Great views also.

What a gem! Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. We were made to feel really welcome and our waiter was so lovely, it was really appreciated to be offered a choice of wines after tasting each. Food was beautiful, the ricotta starter was superb. The restaurant was so cosy and had a lovely atmosphere.

Le plongeon is an absolute gem for lunch in Marseille. The service is exceptional—fast, accommodating, and genuinely friendly. They offer a well-priced lunch menu that includes an appetizer, a main course, and dessert. The rillettes were deliciously rich, and the tuna was grilled to perfection. Every detail, from the warm welcome to the quality of the dishes, made for a memorable experience. We highly recommend it! We paid 80€ for two people!
