New Upstairs Cocktail Bar Pretty Dirty Opens This Month in Eagle Rock | Eater LA

"Tucked into a tiny 14-seat room inside the 5 Line Tavern, Pretty Dirty opened on November 13 as a speakeasy-style bar replacing the shuttered Room 31 and centers around a cocktail tasting-menu approach where drinks are meant to be savored over two hours or more. Cocktails are created by Erik Lund (who has worked on menus at Mess Hall and République) with Tom Singer running the front of house; Lund uses spirits from master distillers and house-made ingredients to craft riffs on classics (including Negroni variations) and bold originals like the Throes of Brutalism, a mix of mezcal, artichoke, sweet vermouth, pepper, and grapefruit oils. Trust is key—bottles have been removed from the back bar so guests accept Lund’s proprietary blends—and the program also includes rare and natural wines and snacks such as Bub And Grandma’s sourdough bread. Reservations through Tock (with a prepaid deposit applied to the bill) are recommended though walk-ins won’t be turned away, and the space, designed by Devin Carlson and Nathan Warkentin of Suplex Agency, is open Wed–Thu 5 p.m.–midnight and Fri–Sat 5 p.m.–2 a.m." - Mona Holmes
