"Located in the centre of this wine-producing village in the Côte Roannaise, this restaurant occupying a traditional granite building adjoins a magnificent 15C priory crowned with a multi-coloured varnished tile roof in typical Burgundian style. A contemporary wooden porch has brought a touch of modernity to the delightful setting. We ate here on Saturday 9th of November for lunch. I can't believe this has a Michelin star, a very underwhelming setting, staff didn't seem trained, our waitress spilled wine all over the table with each course, wierd plastic covering on 3 of the courses which contributed absolutely nothing to the dishes. I won't go through each course, but I will just mention the ups and downs - Parmesan biscuits extremely salty, killed the flavour of the toppings, carrot and potato with veal, boring and the plating was very uninspiring, tasted good though, the fish and leaks, again boring presentation but tasted good, undercooked brussel spouts in the lobster soup, all served in the wierd plastic shopping bag with a stick attached, I thought smoke would come out or something, but no, a wierd waste of space, do it once, but 3 times in a row, come on, dessert was messy, just 3 separate desserts plonked on the table, would of Been better all 3 presented on 1 plate, wouldn't really recommend them, the last little finishers were biscuits and a raspberry ontop of cream and a pastry, looked dreadful like the ones sold at Supa U, This was the worst Michelin restaurant I have been to so far

Le Prieure is one of those places that just gets everything right. The food? Exceptional. The service? Beyond kind and personal — they made us feel like family. Every dish was thoughtful, delicious, and beautifully done. We’ll 100% be back.

We deliberated about coming to this restaurant for a special celebration because of the mixed reviews, but could not have been happier with our choice. The food and wine were exceptional, the service was discreet and, as the evening proceeded, we found the manageress increasingly warm. Her job must be exhausting and perhaps visitors who have found the reception lacking could reflect on the adage that kindness is met with kindness (and that the opposite is also true). We will definitely return.
