Le Regret - Review - Leytonstone - London - The Infatuation

"As the old adage goes, the smaller the wine bar, the bigger the hangover. And so in Le Regret, a Leytonstone wine bar the size of a “compact and cosy” London rental kitchen, you can expect the kind of two-day doozie where insatiable quantities of Lucozade and Bravo must be consumed. By day, Le Regret leads a respectable double life as a casual coffee spot where you can admire their suave piggy mascot while sipping a flat white. But come evening, this dinky schmoozer turns into an absolute scene and everything about it—the blackboard menu, the cap-loving crowd, the new natural wine options being uncorked by the hour—encourages a “go on, one more glass” mentality." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Came here for dinner on a hot Thursday night. Excellent selection of unusual French wines (everything we tried was great), delicious bistro food (seemed authentic, was very rich), but the highlight was the service (the owners were so welcoming and attentive). This is our closest wine bar, and we look forward to whiling away many hours here. P.S. I really like what they've done with the layout, feels more open and spacious than the previous incarnation of Dina.

Absolutely loved this little gem of a wine bar! It’s a small space, but that only adds to its cozy, intimate vibe, perfect for catching up with friends or winding down after a long day. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, striking the right balance between helpful and relaxed. We had a simple but outstanding spread: fresh bread and butter, perfectly aged Comté cheese, and some of the best asparagus I’ve had in a long time seasonal, fresh, and beautifully prepared. Everything felt thoughtful without being fussy. The wine selection was fantastic, especially if you’re into natural wines. They had a great variety by the glass, and every pour we tried was unique and delicious. The staff clearly know their stuff and are happy to guide you if you’re not sure where to start. All in all, a warm and memorable experience. Can’t wait to come back next time with more friends!

This place is a vibe! So much needed in the area. We sat by the kitchen and had a lovely chat with one of the owners: Katie. She is great. The food was outstanding, everything was delicious. We had the mergez, the ox tongue bun (out of this world), the courgette with ricotta and chickpea chips with basil aioli. Also, as an Argentinian my heart burst with joy when I found out they have Argentinian beer: quilmes, and fernet with Coca Cola (the infamous mix invented in my hometown: cordoba). I can’t wait to be back!

What can I say! We popped down for a quick glass of wine and ended up staying for 4! these two have an amazing place with huge amounts of passion and love the great wine and amazing food wine options with plentiful lots by the glass how do you spell as takeaway bottle options if you decided to. We only tried a couple of snacks because after speaking them we realised how much they love what they were doing but the food was sensational courgettes and ricotta taken to the next level. This site is only gonna go from strength to strength and I can’t wait to come back.

Finally got around to trying this new local spot and I can’t believe I waited so long. The food and wine were delicious, amazing atmosphere and the staff were so friendly!

Such an exciting new opening. The owners are so knowledgeable about wines, had some amazing wines by the glass. The Ox tongue bun was delicious, as was the broccoli bun, and can't bea the comté nibbles. Also sell some beers and non alcoholic options

Le Regret is one of those rare places that instantly feels special the moment you step inside. Tucked away in Leytonstone, this intimate little wine bar hums with energy, warmth, and the kind of effortless charm that can’t be faked. The star of the show is, of course, the wine. The owners clearly know their stuff — their passion for natural wines shines through in every bottle they pour. Whether you’re a seasoned wine geek or just dipping your toe into the world of low-intervention wines, their recommendations are always spot-on. You can tell they genuinely care about what they're serving and want everyone to discover something they’ll love. The food is every bit as impressive. The small plates are inventive, beautifully balanced, and always changing with the seasons. The ever-rotating menu keeps things fresh and exciting — there’s always a reason to come back. Le Regret is small, buzzing, and full of life - If you love good wine, great food, and that elusive mix of laid-back sophistication and genuine soul, this is the spot for you.

A delightful heir to Dina, Le Regret is exactly the sort of place you want to walk down the road to on a Friday or Saturday night (or indeed any other night of the week). A brilliant selection of wine, cocktails, and multiple well-considered non-alc choices for anyone who doesn't partake. The food menu is enticing, and there's enough variety that you can choose from a small snack to accompany a drink all the way to a full blown multi-dish meal. The dishes are all delicious, fresh, and re-imagined week by week which makes it fun to keep coming back. The new set-up with a proper bar works really well and makes the space feel like somewhere you want to stop to eat and drink, rather than just buying a bottle. The bustling atmosphere is a testament to this place's immediate impact and popularity.
