Five-Year-Old Steak Frites Purveyor L’Assiette Has Closed Along Melrose - Eater LA

"The revival of steak frites as a standalone main dish has not caught on, as evidenced by international competitor Le Relais de l’Entrecôte’s one year tenure at its own Melrose address further west." - Farley Elliott

I dined at this restaurant recently with friends. It was probably the worst dining experience I have had in my lifetime. The staff were unprofessional, verbalizing that the owners rarely are present unless there are enough reservations. Okay, fine with me, but the meal was so bad, it might help their business to be present. Then we were recommended to order the steak more cooked than we would normally do, because the "french" cook differently. For a restaurant that features one specialty, that should be special. The salad was minimal and greens with a scant cover of crushed walnuts. The steak was overcooked and tough. Fries, good. The biggest complaint was having our table visited throughout the meal with non flying bugs. At any given time there were 5-6 crawling. We called attention to our waiter and the response was to acknowledge the bugs and "I'm sorry, we have had a problem." Nothing, was done to attempt to win our return as customers. we ended with paying our bill, including a $25 corkage fee for a meal that was less than mediocre, and insulting to a diner. I never hope to see a restaurant not enjoy success, but this needs to close.

This is an amazing restaurant. We went to the one in Paris and were so happy to find out they had opened an outlet in WeHo. The steaks are always cooked to perfection. Hot, crispy, fries topped with that delicious green secret sauce AND you get 2 servings?! - there is nothing better! If you are on the fence, please try I give it my personal seal of approval

Loved this place in Paris. Loved it in NYC. And now I love it here. The steak and fries are good, the sauce is addicting, and the premise is just so beautifully simple. Throw back some red wine and it's the perfect meal. Transports you right to France.

+ Outdoor seating + Wine selection Cute classic French restaurant serving mean and fries. Not my favorite food, but the restaurant left a good impression. Especially seating outdoors in a nice weather was great. -1 star as the meat quality could be improved

Steak was fantastic, fries even better! I was a little surprised at how empty it was for a Saturday night but I'm not complaining, parking was easy and the waitress couldn't have been nicer. If you've every been to one of the l'Entrecôtes in Paris you know that this falls short but for 6000mi away the l'Entrecôte on Melrose is perfect!

Almost like being back in Paris. If you want a French experience without the 12 hour flight; go for it! It seemed like their trademark "secret steak sauce" was not quite as mouth wateringly delicious as in Paris, hence only 4 stars. But that might have only been in our heads, who knows?

I was there last Saturday... I'm from Brussel's . I was totally surprise to find this new french restaurant in west hollywood. What a lunch ! It was quite good. They've a secret sauce ... Delicious with the french fries. And in belgium, fries is important! Impossible to find the secrets ingredients (if someone have the recipe !!! I want it! ) I don't like sugar but my husband took a huge chocolate profiteroles with a big smile !

I had been looking forward to eating here for months, the food was nothing like as good as the New York location. Such a shame. The service was really bad too! Whoever was in charge of starting this location obviously doesn't know what they are doing, I hope someone competent takes over and starts doing a better job.
