Le Relais des Moines

"Nestling amid the greenery, this gorgeous 16C bastide looks out over the Massif des Maures and the picturesque village of Arc-sur-Argens. The son of restaurateurs from the South-West, Sébastien Sanjou has set up shop in the Var, where his early endeavours were supported by Jacques Maximin and Alain Ducasse. This native of Tarbes is savvily making the Mediterranean terroir his own, cultivating, for example, an exceptional partnership with market gardener Philippe Auda. Wonderfully ripe and juicy tomatoes, served with a basil sorbet and burrata and seasoned with olive oil and Baume de Bouteville vinegar, make for a fantastically sunny starter. This is typical of his cuisine: colourful and imaginative, with, at the heart of each dish, a wonderful ingredient that has been carefully prepared with respect for its original flavour." - Michelin Inspector

Nice place, decent traditional cooking style. Nothing spectacular, but we’ve enjoyed great meals in a cosy environment. Update: Went again in August 2019, enjoyed it, great flavours, and we were able to sit outside which adds to the experience in the great setting, so honestly enjoyed it more than last time. Waiters could improve, they talk like robots when explaining the menu and dishes and pay too little attention to their guests.

Superb lunch at Restaurant Le Relais des Moines in Provence. The lunch tasting menu was creative and wonderfully seasoned at an exceptional price & value. Then off to our wine tasting for reds in Provence. Service was attentive and informative regarding regional foods and wines. What a fantastic afternoon tasting local wine, food, and breads. MICHELIN Restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant on 3 levels with a big fireplace. Most of the ingredients are locally sourced and the result is superb. I'd definitely recommend the eggs for starter and the lemon dessert, both absolutely amazing!

Went for a very special lunch with a very critical eye, was blown away. The tomato dish might have been the nicest plate of food I've ever tried. The cacao/praline dessert was the best dessert I've ever had. The only criticism I have was the confit pigeon leg. Hard bit of meat to confit admittedly, but I just don't think it was executed perfectly

A very classic restaurant with attention to high quality ingredients and fine dishes. There are two menu you can choose from. I am vegetarian and I got three dishes and the dessert. The food is excellent and it leave the mouth clean and stomach light. Staff is well trained for the service and the wine list is a good one.

Grossly overpriced. Bad expensive wine, show off service, limited menu. All for the show, no real value. Tourist trap.

Disappointing for a Michelin-starred restaurant. While the setting is undeniably beautiful, there were occasional unpleasant odors that detracted from the experience. Some dishes were enjoyable, but others fell short, being either too sweet or lacking in flavor. Additionally, the wine by the glass did not meet expectations. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant and do not plan to return.

Yelp
We are from New York City, and went to this restaurant to celebrate our upcoming wedding with our French friends. From the moment we arrived, until we left - the experience was "magnifique!". The food was the perfect mix of inventive and classic... flavors were wonderful, and the display of each dish was a work of art. In addition the setting was so beautiful, an old stone barn updated to retain its charm. To top off our experience, we must mention that the service was exceptionally attentive. We were amazed at how nicely the restaurant handled our large table, and made sure the meal flowed smoothly. This restaurant now has one Michelin star, but I suspect they will soon get a second Michelin Star - and the warm and friendly couple who run Les Relais des Moines deserve all the praise.

Yelp
Sunday lunch at its best! We were a party of three for lunch. The food was creative, delicious, beautifully presented from the amuse bucket to the finishing coffee. Each course was not only beautiful but satisfyingly tasty. A trio of soups, garlic, mushroom, bean were a lovely beginning and then the meal progressed through salad, soup, seafood, pigeon, fish, sweets, and coffee. They deserve their Michelin star! We had the paired wine with each course and were very happy with the sommelier's choices. A white chateau Neuf du pap was particularly notable. You will not be disappointed! Booking essential.
