Le Relais de Franc Mayne (Saint-Émilion, Nouvelle Aquitaine) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Le Relais de Franc Mayne is housed in a 16th-century château. Not the sprawling estate style that’s so common in the Bordeaux countryside, but the other kind — a down-to-earth wine château, the sort of place where one of the main attractions is a series of old stone quarries where Cabernet Franc ages in oak barrels. Which isn’t to say that anyone is roughing it at this impeccably restored nine-room hotel: sophisticated lighting, decadent silks in bold hues, plasma televisions, a plush billiards room, and vintage wine tastings are just a few of the features putting a contemporary spin on this country-chic property." - Tablet Hotels

Le Relais de Franc Mayne | Best places to stay in Bordeaux |

"A short drive – or long walk – through the vines from the historic town of Saint-Emilion, this classic 16th-century manor house is part of the prestigious Chateau Franc Mayne wine estate. It’s a rural idyll with tons of character – there are pretty gardens and chic design rooms – including the woodsy Perchoir, perched up in an ancient cedar tree – and lovely views of the vines in every direction. Beautifully landscaped gardens and a chemical-free swimming pool, cleaned by algae, give it a back-to-nature feel, but there’s luxury in the free wine tastings and tour of the Chateau’s ancient quarry cellars, as well as delicious breakfasts in the elegant dining room or on the terrace. If you fancy a trip to Bordeaux city, it’s 40 minutes’ drive away. It is, however, a great base for exploring Bordeaux’s wine regions; the hotel hires out mountain bikes for leisurely explorations of picturesque Saint-Emilion’s vineyards. " - Dana Facaros

We had a very relaxing couple of nights at this historic relais in the heart of Saint-Émilion. On property you will discover a true “relais” (old post station and traveler rest station) among other natural and man made wonders. ||On our first morning we woke to find the entire estate and surrounding area blanketed in patchy fog that only added to the scenic beauty of the place. Needless to say it made for an amazing sunrise walk around the grounds.||We were treated to wonderful breakfasts served with a smile by Pascale who was our early in the week host. We really appreciated the care and extra effort she and Rachel provided to ensure a very lovely stay.||Our small critique would be that while the bedding itself was top notch, the typical twin mattresses that made up our “queen” were not the most comfortable. Also, the drain in the shower was slow enough to cause water to backup and flow out onto the bathroom floor.

What an exceptional place. Bedrooms are lovely and spacious, living room is really nice, decor is classy. Location is perfect with a pleasant walk through the vineyards to St Emillion. And our host Pascale was really lovely. Highly highly recommended

Our stay at the chateau was amazing! The wine tour was informative and the tasting was delicious, the room was clean and well appointed, and breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend a stay here if you visit St. Emilion.

We loved our stay at Chateau Franc Mayne! The service was incredible and just a nice walk through the vineyards to Saint Emillion’s City Center. Breakfast everyday was incredible. We were given homemade breads, jam, eggs, fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice, yogurt and coffee. The pool was picturesque and a great way to relax on vacation! Everyone was helpful and welcoming. It was truly an amazing place to stay.

The mansion was clean, quiet, rooms had plenty of space, wonderful garden, in the middle of vineyards, noce tour of the chateu, and Pascal was very informative, helpful and kind. Great breakfast.

We had a lovely and relaxing 7 days here. The room was lovely. The breakfast and service by Rachel and Pascale was wonderful and it’s a beautiful place. We would have ranked it 5 but the bed was not comfortable. It appeared to be two single mattresses stacked on a double bed frame so the mattress hung over the frame. I think they need to fix this as it undermined an otherwise perfect experience

I’m not sure where to start this review as we’re leaving with such a warm heart and a feeling that we’ve lived beautiful moments in this Chateau. The location is absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking, a true gem nestled in the most picturesque surroundings.||||From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Pascale, whose friendly approach and warm smile made our check-in process so smooth. We arrived a bit earlier than 4 pm, which gave us the opportunity to start our holiday with an incredible wine tour provided by the Chateau. Having done wine tours before, this one stood out, it was not only lovely but also educational.||||The rooms are equally impressive, gorgeous, spacious, with comfortable beds and beautiful amenities. The chateau and its surroundings are simply stunning. There’s an incredible sense of being in a special place, yet it’s never overcrowded, giving you the feeling that you’ve rented the chateau all to yourself.||||Our two chihuahuas, Ella and Bailey were also warmly welcomed throughout our stay, which made the experience even more special for us as pet owners.||||The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the breakfast experience. Rachel, our host, is the epitome of class, warmth, and hospitality. She puts love and care into everything she does, making the experience truly memorable.||||This has been one of the best B&B experiences we’ve ever had. If I had to sum up our stay in one word, it would be “magnifique.” Merci ❤️

My husband, myself and 4 month old baby stayed 3 nights here and it was absolutely fantastic. The chateau is beautiful, and the surrounding area is so peaceful and quiet. Our room was very large, had a great bathroom and was extremely clean and tidy. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was nice. Breakfast was lovely with homemade yogurt, cake and jam made by Rachel, one of the hosts, all while overlooking the vineyards. |The pool is so refreshing and was never busy as the chateau doesn’t sleep a lot of guests. Overall, a really lovely stay and we would definitely come back again.
