"Established in a genteel early 20C villa, the large windows of this cosy, colourful restaurant overlook a lush green garden. Amidst treelined flowerbeds and shaded by parasols, the spacious alfresco area is bliss in summertime. Appetising traditional cuisine strewn with contemporary touches. Don’t miss their signature dessert: lemon and passion fruit soufflé with a sorbet made out of fermented milk!" - Michelin Inspector

Le Saint-Christophe Hôtel (La Baule, Brittany) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set mere minutes from La Baule’s famous beach, the Hôtel Saint-Christophe is unique: a set of four century-old villas containing a total of 39 rooms and suites, each one differing in layout and décor but all of them designed in an antique-chic contemporary style. The atmosphere is tranquil, though convivial, as guests lounge in the library, the bar, or the gardens — the latter overlooked by the hotel’s indoor-outdoor restaurant, La Table du Saint-Christophe." - Tablet Hotels

This is a homely hotel situated around 150m from the long sandy beach in La Baule. It is a similar distance from the excellent market, restaurants and shops. It consists of 4 or 5 traditional villas that have been purchased by the owners over a number of years and is situated in a residential area. The villas are all on a single site with walkways and outside seating linking them. Parking on site is available at 20€/night and there is an underground car park opposite at a slightly higher price. Our room was small with an equally small bathroom but everything was there. The bed was comfortable and the place well furnished. You could easily relax in the room and it was pleasant place to be. The cleaning staff were very thorough, polite and pleasant. The other staff, particularly reception, are very helpful. There is a lounge for drinks as well as outside tables. Breakfast (€22) is extensive with unusual pastries and cakes as well as hot food. The service was slow due to the staff appearing overworked. There are plenty of alternative places to eat locally if you wish. The atmospheric dining room serves French cuisine in a traditional relaxing environment. It is high quality with a short menu but should be booked. There are other exceptional restaurants in the town. La Baule is an established resort rather similar to some of those on the French south coast around Perpignan. We did not see or hear any other English visitors in the hotel or town during our stay. The other guests are also very polite and even if you do not speak French a "bonjour" on passing them on the streets and walkways goes down well. We shall return.

Beautiful old hotel. Great location for walking to the waterfront and the town. The restaurant in this hotel serves gorgeous food. So much so we decided to eat their both nights we stayed. Plus, each night the restaurant was full and not all were staying there. Really flavoursome, beautifully presented food. There is off road safe parking (pay). There isn't a lift so schleping suitcases upstairs can be tricky but the staff there are extremely helpful. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

This review is for the restaurant. We went for lunch. The food was good but it was very expensive for what is was. We spent over $300 and didn't feel like it was worth it. We all did the pre-fixe menu. The mussels appetizer, the steak with potatoes and the cheese plate were the stand out dishes. Overall the food is more of a modern artsy take on food. The space is pretty small and there are maybe a dozen tables in the restaurant. Service was good.

Perfect stay at such a quaint and beautiful hotel! We had booked an extremely nice, large suite with a terrace, and this was the most peaceful and comfortable setting, inside and out, that I have enjoyed in a long while. Our lovely rooms featured very nice antique furniture, books, teas and coffee, a king sized bed, two desks, a couch, coffee table, chairs, a large bathroom with two separate sinks, robes, slippers, bottled water, flowers and welcome caramels. The terrace was huge, sunny and gorgeous, and also so very comfortable, with ample seating, a retractable awning and good adjustable lighting. A truly delightful outdoor setting from morning til nightfall, surrounded by the delicious scents of pine, roses, and the sea, and the sounds of magpies, doves, seagulls and the nearby church bell. We had dinner one night at the restaurant ( reviewed separately) and it was also exceptional, and great value, too. The location of this hotel is perfect, just a block from the market and a couple of blocks from the beach. The garden setting , with its outdoor dining and cocktail areas, and small billiards table, is like being in a private village club. Roses and rosemary were all in bloom in May. Much appreciation to the front desk and restaurant staff, too, all of whom were very kind and helpful. Our first visit to La Baule was definitely made memorable thanks to this very delightful hotel! Well done!

Hotel Saint Christopher is in the best location, near the beach, the market, the high street. Tasteful decoration, lovely renovated bathrooms. Staff always attentive and professional. I booked for a long stay over Christmas and the New Year. My room was quiet, in a villa in the garden. |On the negative side, I booked a chambre superieure and there was nowhere to put my clothes, I had to keep everything in my suitcase. For a long stay, not great. It would have been nice to get some|welcoming fruits or something in the room when I arrived. |Good and varied breakfast, but the meal in the restaurant was disappointing, it was better a few years ago. I arrived on December 16 and left January 11, so a long stay. The last 5 days I was moved to another room, in the main building, quite noisy at night.|I left with mixed feelings about the hotel, I loved the decoration in the rooms, the central location is great. I would give 4 stars to the staff at the reception who were very attentive and responsive.

Excellent find. Beautiful hotel, well-maintained. Everything is very clean, special touches with vintage furniture in the room, and very friendly, helpful staff. Location close to the beach is a plus. Parking not very easy.

I loved everything about this hotel! So charming! The exterior of the hotel, our cozy rooms, amazing dinner and high quality breakfast..very friendly with kids. I don't want to come to La Baule again but I want to come to Saint-Christophe again.

Overall, a pleasant experience staying for a few nights with the family. Clean room, comfy beds, good breakfast and friendly staff. Also an excellent location, less than 5 minutes walk from the the main street and the beach. I did feel that the room we had was overpriced - at the top of building, crouching under rafters and up 4 flights of stairs - not easy with 2 children and 2 dogs (although it is a dog friendly hotel which is a positive). No lift and no offer of assistance with the luggage. We had one evening meal at the hotel which was very nice but again overpriced. There is also limited parking which you can pay €20 per day for which is too much - better off finding a free spot on the roadside. Generally though, a good hotel due to friendliness of staff and location. Would I stay here again, probably not.

Yelp
I called, with my not so great french, and requested a reservation. Sadly, the book was full. The woman took my name and number and assured me that she would call if a table for two opened. A day later, she called. By that time I had already made a booking, but, decided to take her up and cancel the other table. This was a great decision. The resturaunt is a delight. Small enough to feel intimate, but large enough to have a feeling of a real treat. The decor is really full of whimsy and, well, the food, is wonderful. We had attentive service and a casual, elegant meal that was a real treat. This is not a place with a large wine list, but really, when take together, the experience was actually perfect. We recommend you try it.
