"A slice of Paris in Vienna? Mais, oui! This lively brasserie with a distinctly chic feel has become an institution in the city and – in no small part thanks to patron and chef Denis König – brings to life the concepts of "bistronomie" and savoir-vivre. If you are a fan of fresh seafood, then you've come to the right place: just order the plateau de fruits de mer! The beef tartare is another fine example of the French classics served here. In the evening, you can also choose an even more refined and creative five-course set menu. An exclusively French wine selection and charming service contribute to that Parisian feeling." - Michelin Inspector

In the middle of District 1, you feel like you're in the culinary deep sea. Lobster, oysters, crayfish, langoustines ... all of the best quality in a beautiful ambience with slightly arrogant Viennese service. Wonderful . The champagne is a dream, as is the bread and butter to accompany the large platter. Not cheap, but also not necessary. High quality, international clientele from building tycoons to sugar daddies. A must if you like upscale deep sea cuisine.

One of the best restaurants I have visited. The service is friendly and very warm. They were very attentive to us. The food was delicious and they have very good wines and the desserts make you want to order them again.

This is one of the best restaurants i‘ve been to in Vienna, if not the best. The food there is amazing, the atmosphere is very nice and relaxing with good music. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, there’s a waiter who i unfortunately forgot his name, he just knows what a guest likes to experience in a fine dining place. I really recommend the restaurant, it was a very pleasant experience, will definitely go there again.

Christian and Adrián (Hungarian) went above and beyond to ensure the private dining room was perfectly prepared for my guests. Their attention to detail, friendliness, and professionalism made the evening a success. The room was beautiful, the service was impeccable, and the team’s dedication truly stood out. Thank you for making my job so much easier and ensuring a memorable experience for my guests. Highly recommended!

Based on positive comments on social media, being enthousiastic, i made a reservation more than one month before date. Bu the day of my experience was a real disaster. Tried several Michelin star cuisines, especially in Belgium, without exxagerating, this was really the worst fine dining experience of my life and I will prove that with pictures and facts. With my wife and 2y old son we entered the restaurant and we were given a place at floor -1 in a forgotten corner (although we had a reservation 5-6 weeks in advance). Our menu was: - cheese mixture - onion soup - foie gras - small portion of beef tartare - Simmentaler filet Some detailed facts: - because I was on floor -1, my mobile reach was insufficient and I asked for the wifi code, they said that there was no wifi while i could see LESG wifi network on the list, so that was the first lie, until the end I had zero reach on my phone 8while this is important for me as being surgeon), the waiter was not friendly and treated us as tourists who will never come again. - the cheese mixture was a plate of 5 different chees but in extremely small portions (even in fine dining terms) - floor -1 was too hot and there was airconditioning working, also no background music, zero atmophere - the foie gras we received was of poor quality, may be because I tried much more better quality foie gras in other restaurants, this had a so neutral taste. - could you believe that there was no salt or pepper on the table, really incredible - our glass of wine was empty and again and again the waiter forgot to fill our glass, so we did our selve, this is also un imaginable for a so called fine dining restaurant - the filet with bearnaise was so bad, the meat was so far may be ok but the bearnaise sauce tasted as being from the regular shop beside, and the worst of all: the french fries were a disaster, , will upload a picture of the french fries which was the top scandal of our eveing, even in a mcdonalds you don't get so overburned french fries, shame on you Salzgries - in the middle of the service, the waiters changed because probably there were much more imporant local guests arriving in the restaurant. + the only good thing was the beef tartare on our menu and also the wine (Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Sauvion) This restaurant even don't deserve one star rating, really not, it is a shame that this restaurant classifies itself as fineding. Be aware as tourist: you will not be treated as you deserve, go eat in a mcdonalds, and you will get even better french fries, such a waste of money. I will post my review on every possible review page. Dr. Faki AKIN - İstanbul

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal on Saturday afternoon at this delightful restaurant. Each member of staff was extremely professional and friendly, but we would especially like to thank the initial member of staff who looked after us (he was Hungarian, apologies we didn’t get his name). Each dish was lovely, but we would definitely recommend the Dover Sole, with a glass of the Chablis. Thank you.

Food is amazing Service was good but wasn't excellent I could easily identify few falls. The sitting plan is bad as the tables are so close to each other in a very disturbing way I understand the logic for the restaurant but you can feel like you eat with the couple next to you

Yelp
Le Salzgries was an absolute delightful restaurant. Denis (the owner/chef) was charming and a true culinary artist! My husband and I stumbled on this gem in the heart of the business district while traveling in Vienna. The food was delicious and plentiful, the service was wonderful and the ambiance just what we were looking for. We ate outside at their sidewalk cafe and after each course, Denis somehow managed to come by our table and make sure that everything was ok. If you are traveling to Vienna, make sure to stop by this restaurant!

Yelp
So there we were, disappointed as could be, the Intercontinental concierge Daniel making an heroic effort to get us into the Michelin restaurants we wanted, but no joy (not his fault, nothing like last minute). He suggested this as an alternative, and we were thrilled with this place. It is the most charming, modern bistro/brasserie style, casual but still upscale. The service was excellent, knowledgeable and precise, more on the lines of a top-end establishment. The food was delicious, we got the best seating, everything was excellent. So Daniel and Le Salzgries saved the evening for us, we had a wonderfully yummy and romantic night, thank you!!!

Yelp
Here is an update on food front: - The BEST Steak Tartare in Vienna. Period. This is a very popular dish in Vienna and almost every restaurant has it on the menu. Nowhere in town is it as good as in Le Salzgries. Very well done! - Ribeye steak - also, very good. Great cut of meat, flavorful and tender. Cooked to a perfect medium rare. - I also gave another shot to Bernaise sauce and their french fires. A lot better this time. The sauce was not as sour and the fries were crispier and nice and salty. I'm looking forward to the next visit.

Yelp
Lovely dinner in this French restaurant, although it specializes in seafood I had the goose breast with artichoke purer and orange sauce. It was sensational. The wine list is heavily overpriced. We had an adequate bottle of Paulliac for €45. Still, I would eat here again but probably not on such a hot night inside as no A/C.

Yelp
During a week of business travel to Vienna, all my lunches were Austrian - schnitzels, tafelspitz - and wonderful, but... On a cold, gray Friday night I felt like a change for dinner and wandered across town in search of a touch of Paris. Given the incredible diversity of restaurants in Vienna, French is comparatively under-represented - a couple of bistros, a few simple café-style places... and La Salzgries. What a joy! I think you can tell a lot about a restaurant by how they treat a solo diner, and so I was pleased to have the gracious host take my coat and lead me to a very nice table at the front of the long, high-ceilinged room, far from the dreaded next-to-the-kitchen or next-to-the-loo places too often assigned a single. From start to finish, the service was exemplary, whether from the host, the cheerful waitress, or the very efficient busboy - these are people who enjoy their work and clearly like the food and drink they serve. I started with a plate of foie gras, served in two generous slices set off by a cheerful knot of salad greens. The accompanying toast came piping hot on a gleaming old-fashioned toast rack. The main course was a perfectly cooked sole; the fish flaked off the spine, lightly browned in a delicious buttery, lemon sauce. For sides I choose haricots verts, which had a pleasant crunch, and a splendid and very rich ramekin of potato gratin. Accompanied by a crsip Sancerre from the varied by-the-glass wine list, this was exactly the dinner I'd hoped for. I finished with an old favorite, iles flottantes, and lingered for a while over a glass of very good pink Champagne to celebrate the end of my week in Austria. It seemed a pity to go back into the chilly night; the warmth and light of Le Salzgries made me want to start all over again (perhaps with a half-dozen oysters I envied my neighbors for having chosen, or the lobster bisque that looked so good passing by). The place had filled up, and the others diners all seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as I had done. While such pleasure comes at a price (one that teetered on the edge of three figures, with tip), I've had many worse meals for as much or more, and once in a while it's worth it to see how well things can be done when all the stars align.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant, the beef tartar is high quality, perfectly seasoned. Steaks and coq au vin are delicious, service is fine. The price is high but that's normal when a restaurant uses high-quality ingredients.
