Where Taste Meets Friendly Service A few days ago, I was walking by Le Sandwich, and I noticed them for the first time in the four years they've been in business! That should say something about my attention to my surroundings! I walked in to see what they offer. I ended up having a very friendly chat with the owner, Elias (Eli-S). He is a personable man and shared everything I needed to know, making me want to return and try one of his popular sandwiches. I say "popular" because while I was there, neighbor after neighbor walked in to place an order, and they all seemed to be repeat customers. Anyhow, I got myself a drip coffee and, as I walked out, made a mental note to be back after the Thanksgiving holiday. Today, I went back and asked Elias for his personal favorite sandwich. He obliged me, and I asked him which one it was when he handed me the hefty sandwich. He replied, "You won't find it on the menu!" I hurried home with the sandwich and took my first bite. It was delicious! The roasted chicken breast strips were cooked perfectly, juicy, and flavorful. The pesto sauce enhanced the taste, and the bread was toasted, thin, and hollowed out, holding everything together nicely! The sandwich had more than chicken and pesto sauce, but I was too hungry to slow down and analyze it! Le Sandwich has a couple of tables outside where, on a nice day, one can sit and enjoy their meal. They also have a few stools at a counter facing the window. You can get your sandwich to go, as I did, or eat it there before it gets cold! In addition to sandwiches, Le Sandwich offers a variety of other items, including salads, and pastries. It also has a selection of beverages, from coffee and tea to fresh juices. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. Le Sandwich is open from 9 AM to 3 PM every day except Sunday when it is closed. I highly recommend giving Le Sandwich a try. You won't be disappointed if you're in the mood for a quick bite or a leisurely meal.

12/29/23 (S JK) Insanely good sandwich shop tucked away into the wall. The chef put so much care and effort into the sandwich, it really showed. The time and attention to detail making each sandwich was what really impressed me. The food really just felt like it was made with love. It's a super small store with a wonderful smell and the freshest food. We ordered the reuben, which was gigantic in size, and was appetizing to not only the mouth but the eyes as well. It was hot, with soft pillowy bread and a crispy exterior, with lots and lots of pastrami, being super generous with the ingredients.

I was chillin with Barndoor Betty and her little heartbreaker Julin Tha, and she pops off something about the Le Sandwich shop having the best sandos in the city! Well...That's a pretty tall order, so I punched her in the shoulder and asked her if that's a fact or an opinion...She said it's a fact! And I'll prove it, so we walked two blocks and got sandos, and let me tell you something...She may have been right. My imported ham with Cowgirl triple cream cheese was Amazing! 5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

Le Sandwich was a great stop to kick off a day of exploring San Francisco. The cashier greeted us with a huge smile and was incredibly warm and welcoming, even checking in to ask how our meal was. We ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon, and it was exactly what I needed to fuel up for the day. Simple, tasty, and satisfying—definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for a quick, delicious bite.

This is my favorite sandwich shop in SF. I love the turkey and cranberry sauce #2 sandwich the most. The owner is super cool and will make you feel welcome. The place is very cute but a bit small so if you wanted to eat there, there are only a few spots. But it's perfect for grab and go! I wish it was open right now, because I am craving it :D

This place gave me one of the best Reubens I've come across, with a generous helping of sauerkraut to top it all off. I haven't been to this area of the city much, but I will make sure to swing by here again when I get close. While I was there I also noticed a small selection of pastries were laid out behind the glass for purchase as well. The shop is very small, but they do have some cramped indoor seating, and a few outdoor tables as well. I don't think this is to their detriment though, they make great sandwiches and aren't advertising themselves as an Outback Steakhouse. They have a handful of drinks in a cooler for you to select from, there appeared to be only Non Alcoholic options. The man behind the counter was helpful and kind. It took about 10 minutes for my sandwich to be prepared with a guy in front of me, but that seems fine.

Walked around SF for the first time, almost stopped for food earlier because we were so hungry. Luckily we held out and stumbled upon this gem. The owner was so nice, made the sandwiches so perfect- quite literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had. All the ingredients were definitely high quality, just a quality shop all around. Will be stopping in every SF trip I make.

We were starving after a swim at Joe DiMaggio Pool (around the corner) so opted to run in an get a bite here. This isn’t a fast food establishment so expect to wait a bit, as business for pick up, take out and dine outside was brisk at lunch hour and the owner, who will prepare your gastromic delight while you wait is a genie. A clever creative and warm person who greats the regulars and asks about the fam. Old World hospitality and New World culinary sensibilities. Fresh ingredients, a varied menu that includes meat, poultry, fish and various veggie/vegan options. I highly recommend the Viking. A delicious and creative take on traditional lox and bagel. The sandwich was large, lotsa salmon, delicious and satisfying. There’s a huge variety of beverages on hand in the self serve fridge, old fashioned soda water with quinine! When do you see that anymore? Le Sandwich is a tiny spot but has a big heart for the community it seems and is definitely worth stopping in for a bite whenever I’m in North Beach.

The owner was so welcoming and the bagel was delicious! He welcomed out out of town guest like a long lost friend

So as mentioned in my first review I decided to return. Couldn't let an off day stop me based on all the great review. I will say that the owner is incredibly nice and just while I was there waiting for the sandwich (not long at all) there were several people that came in who were clearly regulars. It's a small little shop with couple spots to sit both i side and outside. I will say that the sandwich for me however was a little underwhelming. I wanted to love it and it was good but not great. I ordered the Reuben and the sauce was delicious, the sauerkraut was great as well but the meat, I was not a huge personal fan. The bread also could have been a bit better. Anyway, I would go back and try a couple other items.

Wonderful sandwich shop that also sells salads, pastries, to go drinks! We had the turkey and Viking sandwiches. Turkey sandwich is a warm sandwich, the turkey is delicious, the cranberry sauce is nice and sweet and the arugula adds a good balance. Viking sandwich was a bit salty given the smoked salmon with capers, but delicious. Both sandwiches are fairly generous in size. We had one sandwich on the standard roll the chef uses and one on rye. The standard roll is better :) We also had a cinnamon bun - made in-house - delicious!! Would happily come back and try more of the menu! Service is delightful. We got there around 140pm on Saturday and waited almost 30mins to order.

I was craving a sandwich one day and stumbled upon this place around 2:20pm on a Friday. This place is a small sandwich shop and the sandwiches are stuffed with meat and veggies! I got the Turkey Sandwich and it was good. It reminded me of a Thanksgiving sandwich because of the cranberry sauce it had and is great if you're looking for a simple sandwich. I also tried the Tuna Sandwich, which was good too, but I guess I liked the Turkey one more since the tuna one got a bit messy. I'd recommend this place! It's a good place for sandwiches, but the menu is a bit small. I do wish they had more sandwich options or at least a build your own option.

Toscana- This honestly may be one of the best sandwiches that I have ever eaten, I still think about this

I took a bite of the primo and could suddenly speak fluent italian. Reuben needs work but still very good. Meat to bread ratio is perfect. Must go

Godfather - meatball, tomato sauce mozzarella (ordered without onion) on Dutch Crunch was delicious Will try to go through menu, but it will be difficult not to order this again. Elias is super nice!

Chef Elias is super friendly..and I happened to walk upon this sandwich shop..has all my favorite classics like reuben BLT tuna melt etc..Makes classic bagels with lox or nutella..that's what I got today..Elias told me about his catering company and you can see the website..he's busy..the sandwich shop is charming..meet Chef Elias! In North Beach..

Elias is an amazing sandwich maker. I love this place. We come here couple times a week on a regular basis. I love the j.sapore for breakfast and tuna melt or Tuscany chicken salad. His ingredients are fresh, his menu is unique and he has amazing service solid 5 stars

Great, friendly service! I had the most outstanding BLTA (number 10) that I've ever had. I was treated like a part of the family from the moment I walked in. I definitely recommend, if you're ever in the area.

Ask for a custom sandwich and although it was not on the menu they generously accommodated. Food is fresh drinks are quality and service was exceptional. Would highly recommend

There's no shortage of sandwich spots in North Beach but Le Sandwich might just be one of the most underrated/hidden gems! There was a small wait on a Monday afternoon right at the lunch hour. We ordered the reuben and it came out nice and toasty and packed with meat. The kraut is delicious - adding a punchy and refreshing flavor without being toooo sour for me. The russian dressing added a nice sweetness that balanced the savory flavor of the meat. For $13, the sandwich is pretty large - possibly 2 servings for those with smaller appetite or if paired with a bag of chips! Definitely hit the spot and can't wait to try out all the other sandwiches as well as some of the breakfast items!

Cute spot and very sweet owner. Quick to pick up to take to the park. The flavors and sandwiches are so unique. The only reason I won't give this a 5 is due to the chicken quality on the Toscano sando. It was very chewy and could've been higher quality. Bread was perfectly crunchy but soft. Overall great and would try a different one next time!

Firstly shout out to Elias? Believe he is the owner, super nice guy... now to the food. Ordered the Rueben. Wife got the Tuna Melt... and OMG!! each one was soooo fire. Small but cozy seating. We now have a go to sando spot in SF. 5-stars, highly recommend!

Le Sandwich is an absolute treat in the city. Fairly traditional sandwiches elevated to incredible level with immense love and care from the owner and one-man show, Elias. The intimate shop in North Beach feels so homey, and definitely recommend starting up a chat with Elias or any of his friendly regulars that often dot the shop. If you have the time, definitely recommend sitting on one of the stools in the cafe and decompressing as you enjoy one of the best sandwiches you will have. I personally ordered the Turkey sandwich, and it was genuinely the best turkey sandwich that I've ever had (and I am a regular of Arguello Super in the Richmond, iykyk) Le Sandwich is an absolute game changer in the city for a quick meal on the go!

Bought a perfect sandwich for my drive to Big Sur! I love the hot chicken and spicy Jack sandwich! I look forward to trying many other of their sandwiches on other trips to SF!

dear god this was the most delicious sandwhich i've had in a while. the primo. get it. it's broiled with the meat and cheese and meat gets a bit crispy and the cheese golden, the tart pepperonchinis and red onion and dressing are the perfect compliment. my friend got a salmon bagel that looked like a work of art. owner a lovely guy with sensational sandwhich talent and great vibes. we'll be back

This was by far the BEST sandwich I have ever had in my life. I originally went to get truffles from the place next door, then after seeing the high reviews for Le Sandwich on Yelp, I figured I had to give it a try and I was not disappointed... The owner was beyond friendly and had such a good vibe to him. This sandwich spot may not look like anything special, but don't judge a book by its cover. As for the sandwich, I don't even know where to start. The bread was amazing, the amount of turkey in the sandwich was perfect, and altogether the blend of all the different flavors was amazing. This is by far my favorite sandwich shop I have been to and I will definitely be coming back here regularly!!

What an underrated and hidden gem!!! Don't pass by Le Sandwich on your walk down Columbus! You must grab a sandwich from this takeaway spot, take it to the park, and enjoy. So glad we found this place and gave it a try. The owner did not disappoint!

Came in for a turkey sandwich but quickly changed my order, for the Salmon Bagel! I'm so glad I changed my order, it was perhaps the best prepared bagel in a while! So fresh and so much flavor! Must definitely give it a try! Plus the guy preferring the food was very friendly and helpful, will try other items next time

I was craving a lox bagel while visiting my boyfriend in the city and stumbled upon this place on Yelp. It's a cute little deli with a very passionate store owner (owner pictured with my bagel sandwich!) he was such a cool guy to talk to and as I was sitting outside, I noticed a lot of locals stopping by just to say hi to him. Such a cool vibe to the place. The lox bagel was probably the best I've ever tried. The owner mentions getting his salmon from Santa Barbra. My bagel was loaded with cream cheese and fish as well. The salmon was smoked, butter, and not fishy at all. It also came with a lemon which was unique from other lox bagels I've tried but I liked it because it cut out the bitterness from the onion! I loved how upon receiving my bagel, I could just tell he put so much love into it! I can't wait to visit my bf again just so I can come back to this place!!!

When you're in San Francisco, and especially when you're in North Beach, you'll have your pick of sandwiches. From the Italian-style subs to stacked focaccia sandwiches smashed in panini presses, there are so many choices. But, no sandwich place in the City has a chef who has the zest and passion for what he does. Elias is an artist who clearly enjoys making sandwiches, which explains the wait at Le Sandwich even on a Monday afternoon. In our recent visit, we ordered the Rueben, and damn, have I not had anything quite like it. It's stacked with corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss, and Russian dressing, making it the perfect sandwich to share. On the grilled sourdough, the Rueben can be a little heavy, but its saltiness, umami, and pickled kicks make this something wonderful to experience.

While using Too Good to Go we found this hidden gem in SF. Not only was the menu filled with options for everyone, but the sandwiches are AMAZING. Size is satisfying as well. The pastries were fresh and delish as well. Highly recommend for a quick lunch.

I don't know how this man is able to make something as simple as a BLT taste so delicious, but he really does. Sometimes I think "oh i'll save some money and make my own". It's never as good. It's the only sandwich I've tried because I'm boring, but if he makes a BLT taste that good I'm sure all the other sandwiches are insane.

Call it fate, call it kismet, but whatever brought us to le sandwich, I will always be grateful to the universe that it did. If Joey Tribbiani had eaten here in 1994, they would've had to shoot the rest of the Friends series in San Francisco. Once you've had one of chef Elias's masterpieces, every day without one is a little bit sadder. Like all of your favorite food places, there's really not enough room for everybody. But as long as there's enough room for me, that's all that matters. When my wife and our two daughters stopped by here for lunch, it was the result of not finding the place we were looking for. But we soon realized we found exactly the place we were looking for. From the fresh bread to the delicious fixings, everything feels like it just came from the farmers market. The bacon on the BLT is perfect, the cranberry sauce on the turkey sandwich tastes so good you're ready to slip into the sweet bliss of a Thanksgiving nap. From the Boylan soda to the kettle-cooked chips, no detail was left out. With every bite, my wife and I commented on our sheer enjoyment. And to top it all off, Elias is one of those salt of the earth people who knows how to create hospitality wherever he goes. So strong was his charm, that, for a brief moment, I started to imagine what it might be like to be a Tottenham Hotspur fan. Unfortunately, we got there just before closing time, but the good news is, there's an entirety of the menu yet to explore, breakfast and lunch. You can better the next time we are in San Francisco, we won't miss the chance to visit le sandwich. You shouldn't either.

This man is an artist. The salmon bagel was incredible. You can tell he puts care into each sandwich.

I tried one of these wonderful, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels this morning. It was delicious and Elisa was very friendly.

This shop is a wonderful stopover for the amazing sandwiches and passing conversations whilst your in the queue, I love the Bollywood sandwich! The owner is a poignant and hard worker,great stories he's definitely been around and has contributed to the community and helped create the community,I really love all the food I've ordered but yea Bollywood and the Granny sandwich are my fave!

This sandwich shop is hands down the best place to grab something to eat in North Beach San Francisco, and arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city overall. The food is always amazing, every sandwich is done to perfection. Chef Elias never fails to make you laugh while also completely satiating you with a great sandwich. You can buy anything off the menu, or make your own sandwich, so don't listen to people saying you can't!!! The price might seem high, but let's be real: every other place around this shop is just as if not more expensive, yet every single time the sandwich is more than worth the money. The vibe and feeling of the shop is also always so enjoyable. May Le Sandwich never leave this beautiful neighborhood!

I got the tricolore bagel and it is one of the best bagels I have ever had. Filled with flavor. The owner is so kind and welcoming. Go to this place!!!!!

This place is amazing. One of the best sandwich places in San Francisco. The staff is also superb. Alias is a Michelin star chef making amazing quality food. Cute, charming little cafe that I would highly recommend to anyone walking around the North Beach Area.

This place is really just a hole in the wall. Very small area to sit inside and a few tables outside. Not meant for dining in. Went on a Saturday morning and the line was long. It's one man (the owner and operator) making every sandwich fresh. It took about an hour to order and get our sandwiches. I would definitely be aware of the time commitment if you come on the weekend but the food truly was delicious.

Very simple but the experience is 10x beyond the "aesthetic" of the sandwich itself. It's unexplainable; you have to try it for yourself. The sandwich embodies the love of sandwiches from the Owner.

This is my local joint. I come at least once a week to enjoy a cup of Giraffe coffee (local coffee roasted right in North Beach right across the street), a meal and friendly neighborhood chat with the owner, Elias. I would say the food is the only draw, but that would be a lie, Elias makes you feel at home. He's curious and caring about you as a person which translates to the home feel and overall experience of this charming place. The food is deliciously prepared and expertly assembled. I have tried almost everything and I have never had a bad meal. He has yummy breakfast sandwiches and classic lunch sandwiches done perfectly. I would recommend to anyone wanting a off the beaten path hole on the wall local's joint. **Also he showcases local artist on the walls that rotate every couple months. Truly a neighborhood gem :)

Every sandwich is fantastic. The service from Elias is phenomenal and he makes every sandwich with care. Each sandwich can take around 7-15 mins to make. Highly recommend.

we were walking around looking for breakfast and serendipitiously decided to try le sandwich for bagels (with egg & tomato, cream cheese, and cream cheese and lox). All of them were perfection and on the cream cheese, the owner added some za'atar and olive oil and it was so good. I also appreciated that he was so nice to our kids.

This place is a hidden Gem! Located in the Little Italy district, the owner there was really cool and the sandwiches I ordered were quite a Good! Will definitely come back while up in the area!
