"Since opening in 1977, this French restaurant was a fixture in the city — until reports emerged that everyone’s petit chou would be closing forever after the building was sold to (gasp) condo developer Allied Properties in 2021. Fortunately, Allied elected to keep Le Sélect open and seek out a new operator to manage the restaurant, ultimately landing on restaurateur David Aisenstat and Scale Hospitality. When it reopened in 2022, it was as if the restaurant never skipped a beat, with the same decorations (mahogany accents, rouge banquettes, zinc bar, vintage posters) and the same French menu (with a few new daily specials). At the pass, corporate executive chef Ted Corrado serves up Parisian plats du jour with delicate nods to Canadiana, such as butter-engorged escargot vol-au-vent that’s placed inside a bird’s nest of ethereally flaky house-made puff pastry; pungent foie gras terrine gilded with ice wine gelée; and salt-kissed steak frites (sourced from Ontario Woodward Farms) completed with red wine jus. End with quintessential tarte tatin featuring squidgy caramelized apples and butter-caramel sauce." - Tiffany Leigh

"Hidden French dining A hidden gem in Toronto, Le Sélect Bistro serves a diverse selection of French dishes from brunch to dinner. Try out their moules au porc fume et à la maudite , which features Atlantic Mussels steamed in strong Québec Ale with smoked pulled pork. Make sure to come back for a filling breakfast, too, to taste their French toast stuffed with apples and cranberries, drizzled with Canadian Maple syrup."

Went here for brunch which you can make a reservation which is nice. The brunch items were nice. My favorite was the waffles. Followed by the croque madame. The main complain was the coffee. It was way too frothy for a latte/cappuccino. More like bubble bath foam and it was served room temp cold and we had to ask for it to be replaced. Service and location are pretty nice and cozy

Le Sélect Bistro – A Long-Awaited Visit with Mixed Impressions Le Sélect Bistro had been on my list of must-visit places for quite some time, and I was genuinely looking forward to finally experiencing it. Located in a charming area, the initial curb appeal, however, fell a bit short. The outdoor appearance — particularly the aged flower pots and fencing — felt neglected and did not quite match the prestige I had long associated with the bistro. Once inside, the ambiance quickly improved. The interior offered a classic French aesthetic — warm, polished, and inviting in an old-world way. We opted to sit on the patio. Although it was a little chilly and bustling with lively conversations, it had a pleasant energy. When our server arrived, we let her know we were there for coffee and dessert. She was welcoming and assured us it was no problem, though we were still presented with full dinner and wine menus, which slightly confused the tone and made us feel as though just ordering dessert might not be entirely welcomed. That said, my husband decided to try the bone marrow, while I ordered the Coquilles St. Jacques, along with a glass of Malbec recommended by our server. The dishes were beautifully presented, though they leaned more toward a modern interpretation of French cuisine. While creativity in cuisine is always welcome, I personally had hoped for a more traditional execution, especially given the bistro setting. The scallops were well-cooked and paired nicely with the sauce and bits of bacon, but the dish as a whole felt a bit one-dimensional in flavor. The decorative piping — intended to mimic a scallop shell — was dry and overly crusted. My husband’s bone marrow was unevenly cooked, with one side appearing overdone and the other quite rare. This inconsistency suggested either an equipment issue or a need for more careful preparation. Despite these critiques, the crème brûlée was an absolute highlight — luxuriously creamy, with a perfectly caramelized top. A truly memorable dessert. The accompanying latte, though, had an excessive amount of foam, resembling more of a cappuccino than a latte. The only real disappointment in terms of service came when the bill was brought and placed on our table rather abruptly. While this may not have been intentional, it left us feeling a bit rushed and unwelcome, especially after what had been, up to that point, a relaxed and unrushed visit. In conclusion, my experience at Le Sélect Bistro was a mix of highs and lows. While the setting and dessert stood out, the food overall did not quite meet the expectations I had built up over the years — especially given the pricing. Would I return? Possibly, though much like my first visit, it may be a long time before I do.

I’ve frequented Le Select several times but most recently this past weekend. The atmosphere is amazing. Vintage feel to the decor and French music set the tone. It was very busy but we always felt taken care of by the waiter. I indicated it was our anniversary but it was never acknowledged. Strange. Had the shrimp cocktail, steak and frites, and my wife had the French onion soup and mussels. Everything was fairly tasty. Steak was quite fatty though. Drinks were great but steel ($24 for an old fashion seems a bit much). Had a wonderful time and plan to return.

Google
High-class French Bistro. Extremely busy even for Sunday lunch. The best salmon and beef tartar. Salad Niçoise was generous and outstanding. Tip: please cut the vinegar in half. The service was fast and professional.

Google
Came here for brunch, the ambiance was good but the food was a disappointment. We had the omelette and gaufres (waffles), both tasted the same as a low-end diner, so I really don’t think the quality of the meal here justifies the prices and hype about this place. The waffles were also clearly overcooked and burnt, very crunchy. The eggs were cooked well, but overall the omelette was unseasoned. Feels like most of the hype is based on the looks and french bistro feel of this place.

Excellent service, food, ambience. It's a classic, and has been around for quite some time. You can count on getting everything you could want. Perfect celebration venue.

Google
I visited a few times but the most recent one was very disappointing. The food quality is very disappointing. Fries exactly same with mcdonalds’ and very salty. Duck confit very salty. Mussels tastes weird and not fresh. And I can cook better steak at home. Did you changed your chef? And I thought there should be bread provided before foods?

Rita Yang

Google
Came on the first day of Winterlicious and also ordered duck confit as I hear it was very good. Food overall was very very salty. Steak was the only one cooked very well and not as salty as others. It turned into a bitter taste during the dinner and I lost my appetite. Server was very friendly. Despite I drank a a lot of water due to the level of salt, my water glass was always full. He also checked with chef how I can make the leftover less salty when I reheat them at home. I really want to like the place but I would not recommend it to others

Yelp
Sat at the bar this time and had the steak frites but subbed the frites with a salad. The salad was nice and healthy vinaigrette with olive oil and the steak was cooked nicely at a good medium, rare good char outside. Service, friendly, and solid decor just as beautiful as ever

Alaleh P.

Yelp
We came here for their prix-fixe winterlicious menu and were really happy with the vibes and elegance of the restaurant. The staff are attentive and friendly. You can choose to sit at the bar or in the lounge; they also have a front patio and a backyard patio in summertime. We ordered "Escargots bourguignons" for appetizer. Escargots were out of shell and were served in a puff pastry l, which was delicious. But, I would prefer escargots in shell. For entrée, we ordered "Braised Lamb Shoulder" and "Steak Frites"(medium). Braised Lamb shoulder was delicious and we liked its combination with polenta. Steak was a bit too dry on the outside, but medium on the inside. So, not our favorite dish of the night. For dessert we ordered "Mousse au Chocolat au Grand Marnier" and "Tarte au Citron". Both were delicious, but Tarte au Citron was definitely our favorite.

Nan V.

Yelp
Came here for a girls get together. Service were great and staffs were friendly. We got the more popular food and it wasn't as good as we thought. The beef tartare was the best of the dishes we had. The French onion was decent and the scallop dish was good too. The duck confit was a disappointment. The duck was dried and salty with way too much white beans. The risotto we thought were too mushy, similar to a thick congee. The chicken was not bad.

Reh L.

Yelp
From start to finish this was a great dinner led by our excellent server Melanie. We started off with oysters and green salad, which were both very good, and espresso martinis. The steak frites was good but the butter was my favourite part, the fries weren't the very best. As for desserts I really liked both the lemon tart and creme brulee, it was tough to choose a winner. I'm looking forward to coming back here again!

Krista F.

Yelp
I came here for a work event. The place is very clean, spacious and well kept. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about everything they have to offer. The food is traditional French which isn't something I enjoy. Nothing on the menu really appealed to me but I decided to get the risotto. It was delicious and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. It was piping hot and full of flavour. We also ordered several of their desserts which we all shared. I'd come back for the dessert alone. They had a peach tarte tatin, a cake with fresh caramel sauce, crème brûlée. It was divine!

Alanna R.

Yelp
Great food, great service, good vibes. No complaints! Been here twice for for brunch and it's always 10/10.

Maria Alejandra E.

Yelp
Very authentic, very classy and very demure hehe Went in a sunny day and sat outside, and temperature was perfect. Service was impecable. Food is exactly as advertised, authentic French and delicious. However, it didn't leave it me impressed or wanting more. If you are looking for authenticity it is the place to be . Crème brûlée was amazing!!

Winona H.

Yelp
Another restaurant checked off my list thanks to @liciousto! I thought we got an ok deal for $65 pp for the tartare, escargots, steak frites, and desserts. This restaurant has been around Toronto for 50 years and you really feel like you are stepping into the Ratatouille resto with the rustic parisian inspired decor with spectacular service ‍ to be candid, I thought our apps and mains were tasty but didn't meet my expectations. the steak quality was good and and tender, but not something i'd come back for anytime soon. Another item i had always wanted to try from here was the french onion soup so we had to add it on. It was probably my favourite dish of the night since it had lots of yummy gruyère on top!

Eileen L.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday morning for brunch. There is a spacious patio outside and the interior is a very classic French diner style. The restaurant is actually huge so you can fit your large gatherings. We got the French onion soup, the croque Monsieur and tarte du petit dejeuner. Everything was quite tasty, on the heavy side Servers in the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Prices are mid range. Washrooms are inaccessible and downstairs.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with Le Sélect. Is it North America's best foie gras? The champs gel that tops it is amazing. Is it the wine encyclopedia? They've even got Cahors, to pair perfectly with the confit duck. About that duck: tender, juicy perfection, atop a lovey cassoulet that hits all the notes while feeling very modern and cheffy. The staff, from the friendly bartenders, to the knowledgeable sommelier, to the classic waiters, are all top. And the vibes? Your modern luxury bistro, straight out of Paris. Great place to start that novel, drown your sorrows, entertain your future wife, or celebrate grandma's 100th. Le Sélect, Je t'aime.

Yelp
I chose this spot after reading an Eater 2023 review listing it in the top restaurants of Toronto. Accept this review at your own risk-or maybe at your peril. It not only totally underwhelmed, but forced me to reassess how high I hold the bar on dining out. With many diners there seemingly enjoying the food and content with the lacksadaisical service, I seriously could not get why this place got such a great review. Maybe it has just fallen on hard times-the waitress did admit that the kitchen was slow and they had a new chef... On entering, the restaurant is lively enough, the vibe is good, the host/waitress friendly and enthusiastic. We were seated quickly and before long our server came and we placed our order. We started with the Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Tarte and Foie Gras Terrine with toast points. The Goat Cheese Tartine-if they make their own puff pastry, it was overworked, tough and cracker like. Not delicate, fluffy and rich and soft. The presentation was good, but I wasn't even sure if there was any chevre in there-more like small flecks of brie, and the quantity was entirely wanting. The frisee and fresh figs on top were fresh, but the caramelized onions and fig jam left much to be desired. Moving on to the Foie Gras Terrine-maybe the gelee on top made from sauternes wine was the best part. It was a very thin, well presented sliver of terrine. Flavor itself was overly bland, very little sense that I was eating anything as rich and delicious as foie gras. If they wanted to be subtle about it, they win on that front. Two of us ordered burgers, and I had the Salade Nicoise. Service took over 30 minutes to bring out the main courses, and everything seemed like it had been sitting out for hours. Or, in the case of my salad, everything had been prepared long beforehand and sat in the fridge. Cold soft boiled egg? What? Cold runny yolk-not good. Seared tuna cold through and through? It was probably seared at 9 this morning, sliced and stuck in the fridge, then plated up 4 hours later. A few sliced black olives? Where are the Nicoise olives? Tomatoes in the middle of winter-ok, so you can get greenhouse grown tomatoes, but these looked too terrible to try. Ok, so maybe it was prepared the same day, but this is not real, well-prepared food. The food showed an utter lack of proper, timely preparation and care. For a medium and a rare burger, both were the same hockey puck of overcooked, cool meat. For dessert we had a Lemon Tarte. This was the best, and only decent, part of the meal. Not quite lemony enough for me, but with a well made thin crust. But I do think it had been refrigerated a while too-crust was getting soggy. Nonetheless, well presented. Shame on you Le Select Bistro-you will have to work very hard to move back up into the good graces of Eater reviews-and mine.

Yelp
My partner and I were exploring The Well across the street and decided to stop by Le Select Bistro for some appetizers before we continued to explore the area. The hostesses and our server were very friendly and welcoming. We shared the escargots bourguignons, seared scallops, and smoked whitefish - all very delicious! Very tempted to order French onion soup, but we were pressed for time! Can't wait to come back again to try other items on the menu!

Christie L.

Yelp
Review from 7/2023 This place was a delight. The inside is extremely cute and took me back to my time in France! The outside patio is adorable. We were sat on the patio and had a wonderful meal. I had the roast chicken (poulet roti). It was so good. It was ordered by another table near us, and I could smell it and had to order it. Hubby ordered the boullabaisse and could not stop raving about it. Wine choices were great by the glass the cocktails were very well made. Service was great!

Jen A.

Yelp
A taste of France just across the street from The Well! The scallop appetizer was the star of the show tonight, with the butter sauce and the perfectly cooked scallops. Croque Madame was a larger portion than I'd expected; so many fries! The lamb needed a bit more salt, but it was still lovely. The cocktails were terrific! Tip: go for dinner here and then go explore Toronto's newest architectural wonder -- it's just steps away!

Yelp
After a long day at Niagara Falls, we were ready for a nice dinner. Le Sèlect was on the hotel list, had good reviews, and had a thumbs up from a few people we spoke to. In addition, it was a short walk from our hotel, just West of the Entertainment District. We started off w/ the escargots in puff pastry. This dish tasted good, but there were too many mushrooms for my taste. It was hard to taste the star of the dish. On the other hand, my main was fantastic. I haven't had confit for a while, so when I was researching the menu, I had my mind set. The duck was so crispy, moist and flavorful. Secondarily, the beans & ham underneath were very hearty. I'm glad I didn't opt for two pieces of duck. I saved room for dessert, and the pear tartine w/ ice cream & caramel was perfect for a warm summer night. It was light, and I love anything w/ a caramel sauce. To accompany dessert, I had a nice Canadian whisky. Regarding the ambiance, its big inside & out. There is a large bar to your right as you walk in. We opted for the large patio bc it was still warm after 8 pm. The only downside was the restroom was a long walk thru the inside, and down a long flight of stairs. Our waitress Becca was excellent. She was friendly, informative on the menu, and attentive. Le Sélect is frequented by many locals, and located in a neighborhoody building. I'm glad we had the chance to have an great meal w/ excellent service, in a very comfortable setting.

Harshini R.

Yelp
The staff were friendly upon walking in and the place is pretty big with plenty of tables. For drinks we ordered a sidecar and it happened one night. The sidecar was very sweet and not as boozy as it's supposed to be but still tasted good. For food we got the escargot, French onion soup, and steak frites. The escargot was pretty terrible. The pieces of escargot were very small and mushy, the parsley butter tastes more like oil and there was more puff pastry than anything else. They also brought out our steak before the French onion soup, which we were ok with, but the steak was mediocre. It lacked enough butter and wasn't the most tender. The French onion soup was probably one of the best dishes we had along with the dessert. The tarte tartin was large and could easily serve 4 but we also finished it between the 2 of us. It comes with caramel sauce and 2 scoops of ice cream. It was extremely filling but worth it. If I did ever come back, it would be to try the steak tartare with some wine. Hoping you can't go wrong there.

Yelp
Been around for 50 years and is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto! Service and food are impeccable! I've been here twice and tried: - croque madame ($26): YOU NEED TO TRY THIS. If you've ever asked yourself "how good can a sandwich be?" this is one of the most elevated versions of a sandwich you can try. Gruyère cheese, bechamel sauce, and topped with a sunny side egg. Super rich, buttery, and impressive. I'm not sure how they make it but I wish I did so I could re-create it! I get this every time I come here, and it's honestly one of those dishes I think about a lot Coquilles st-jacques ($24): seared scallop and potato gratin. Another one of my fave dishes here. So rich in flavour and scallops are cooked to perfection. Potato gratin has such a lovely whipped texture. escargots bourguignons ($23): used to be served in the shells, now served on a puff pastry. The pastry was super flakey and THE LAYERS!!! The escargot was chopped up which kind of takes away from the usual texture, it kind of feels like chopped mushroom. tarte aux oignons et chèvre ($19): a flatter tart than the previous, has goat cheese, caramelized onions, figs which all complimented each other moules frites ($26): super generous portion of mussels and fries. Marinated in a white wine, butter and garlic sauce salade niçoise ($33) great to pair with the other dishes and mains petite seafood platter tarte tatin ($22): huge portion. Great for sharing! Comes with icecream. Everything here is quite buttery and rich so eat in moderation :) Prices are very reasonable and affordable. Every time I go there people are dressed in suits and beautiful attire. Does have a bit of a mature vibe to it sometimes.

Bryan L.

Yelp
A new favorite for an upscale brunch. Very creative brunch menu with a French flare. I had and would highly recommend the tarte du petit déjeuner a puff pastry covered by mushrooms caramelized onions, brie and a fried egg. Wife had the croque madame which really should be on the brunch menu. French toast with ham, gruyère, bechamel, sunny side egg, & frites. Both meals were exceptional and matched the perky service. Prices reasonable. Beautiful restaurant, didn't want to leave.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
We were for brunch. Made the reservation and they gave us a table by the window we started with escargot, the texture was just prefect. And the puff mins was prefect soaking up the garlic oil. We ordered the Paris tart and steak breakfast. The brunch pie with salad on a nice fluffy puff pastry. You will love it if you love puff pastry. I found its a bit hard on the bottom, I had some difficulty cutting it with my steak knife. The steak was done as we ordered medium. It will be prefect for a date , family dinner or any occasion if you would like to have a french date.

Lauren B.

Yelp
You could do a lot better for brunch. While the space is very nicely designed, like a French brasserie, I just find the ambiance here cold and soulless. If you do go, I recommend the front room over the back room. Our brunch was also well below par. I asked for bacon extra crispy and it came limp and chewy as can be. Didn't enjoy anything about this place except for the service -- our server was quite friendly.

Huiying J.

Yelp
My first French style meal. Great food! The four dishes are all recommended. The duck leg is not as impressive as the other three.

Neo V.

Yelp
Great place! Ambiance was nice with an older nice vibe! The service was top notch and servers would come around and ask for water or if you needed anything. The food tasted great. I had the Duck l'orange. It was tender and I would order it again for sure. Coffee was good as well.

Elle G.

Yelp
I've been to this resto in a number of incarnations. It was originally on Queen West, then Wellington, then closed and now back on Wellington in its same location. Happy to say that the food is still great. Lovely same decor, French Bistro, with a lot of booths. In summer they have a huge front patio. One thing to note. This block of Wellington from Spadina to Portland is a disaster presently with construction. We made the mistake of driving and getting there and finding a place to park us nightmarish. You can't even park on one side of the street. So take transit or check out if there is parking available elsewhere. Ok. Now to the food. We did go for lunch not dinner. Hubby had escargot. Then Mussels and Frites. I had the Croque Madame. Pics included. Our friends had the Creme Brûlée at the end and the Salmon Brioche and Frisée salad for mains. FYI this is not a place for a rushed meal. Food was timely but well spaced. Good selections of wine even by the glass. Do give them a try! Recommend reservations though. The place was packed!

Toni N.

Yelp
One of the best brunches in Toronto! I would highly recommend the waffles and the croque monsieur. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I would also recommend getting a reservation. The restaurant is very clean and well organized. I hope to return again.

Patrick M.

Yelp
Proper French bistro. Impeccable bar service. Foie gras, coquilles, escargots, rillettes, and beef tartare were all fantastic. If you're down for a nice evening out (great place to impress a date), cough up the cash.

Anthony F.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Was there recently for a lunch and the steak sandwich was great. Tasted awesome, huge portion and the fries were hot. They suggested specials which was beef cheeks and the ones who ordered it said it was amazing. Only complaint was it was hard to find parking due to construction but it wasn't their fault. Would recommend if u r ever in the area.

Frank R.

Yelp
Great food Super great staff Cute restaurant Get the salads nicoise Croque monsieur Eat it!

Lindsey O.

Yelp
I took a client here recently and we had a lovely meal. The service was very friendly and I loved the vibe/ambiance. We started with the escargot, which were super yummy. I also had a delicious mocktail (they had a couple options for the sober sallies like me). For dinner, I ordered the steak frites - the fries were UNBEATABLE, SO GOOD, but the steak was a little tough. I've had better steak. But again, those fries were perfectly cooked and perfectly salted. My dining companion had the duck confit and seemed to really like it, so I'd probably try that next time!

Stephen S.

Yelp
Consistently wonderful food, good service and a lovely live room. Always a great experience!

Nathan K.

Yelp
Delicious. Full stop. We went in for a late lunch, and ordered a few of the menu signatures -- starting with the escargot, and had pate. The escargot and puffed pastry was a delicious bite that balanced the earthiness of the snails with lots of fresh herbs in butter -- to all be completed with the crispy and flaky disc of pastry. The Pate was served with three different types of mustard to offer a sharpness. I''ve had a lot of mussels before, but I think the way they are flavored and seasoned at Le Select has been the best I have ever had. The broth and cream that was used to cook them was full of flavor and seasoned correctly -- it did not taste dilute at all. The fries were piping hot, crisp, and salted perfectly too. Service was also impeccable, and the food came out quickly after ordering. For a Friday lunch time, Le Select was also decently busy -- which also indicates to me how wonderful this bistro is. If you are visiting Toronto, I highly recommend.

Aron Z.

Yelp
This place seems very authentic from the looks of things. But for the sake of French people, I hope this isn't what they actually eat. Their duck confit tasted rotten and the braised beef was so boring. I'd rather eat a frozen dinner than dine here if it was for the same price

Wendy L.

Yelp
Favourite item: risotto - the perfect texture and super fragrant! I nice light taste for what could be a heavy dish. Other items: Foie gras - such an aesthetically pleasing dish and a mix of sweet and savoury, and soft and crispy textures Steak frites - cooked perfectly, super tender and juicy Escargot - nice soft bread to go with the escargots, but nothing mind blowing Tarte au tatin pour deux - an apple tart for two, so yes, it's pretty big! Comes with ice cream too and a delicious caramel sauce to pour all over. The mix of temperatures, textures and flavours is great!

Shawna R.

Yelp
Very pretty restaurant interior, you feel like you are dining in Paris. Service was attentive. Croquet Madam was delicious but mushroom pasta lunch special was so salty it was inedible. One forkful and the dish was left untouched. The server said nothing other than enquiring if we wanted it packed up to take home. For the premium prices you would expect not just good service but food to match.

Janice H.

Yelp
Friendly staff and service, delicious food. French onion soup is one of the best here I've tried around Toronto. Cute ambience.

Lambert S.

Yelp
This place is not cheap but all worth it... I haven't had French food go so long so we go here on a quiet afternoon after the lunch hour rush... We tried the typical French popular items such as French onion soup, escargot, foie gras. Also we got the steak and egg from the brunch menu. This is one of the besssst French onion soup I ever had... well it's $19 plus tax but it's worth trying in my opinion! Flavour is so intense with onion and beef stock and the cheese crust on top is so generous and perfectly baked. Come here hungry so u can enjoy this soup even more!! The escargot is good also but surprisingly, the brioche is more memorable than the escargot . It's soo good with the escargot , the brioche is so soft with a few grain of salt on top.. yum yum! The steak and egg is ok I guess, definitely not as impressive as the onion soup but the portion is good because I do need something to fill my tummy after eating the appetizer. And the dessert is worth mentioning too!! Looks like freshly out from oven and is very big!! More than enough for 2 people and also came with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream... what a way to end the meal.. This meal is pricey to me but I do enjoyed the food very much and for sure will come back again!!!! 5 stars with no hesitation.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
What's not to rave about Le Sélect? The service was only outdone by the food, which is no small feat considering the care and attention that we were given. The wine selection was outstanding. The food? Oh, the food! It was heaven! To complete the trifecta of awesome was the ambiance. We sat outside, which was perfect on a summer night, but the inside was just as nice. Elegant, without being "heavy", yet still conveying a level of cozy intimacy. We WILL be coming back on our next trip to Toronto.

Charmaine L.

Yelp
We went there for surprise brunch. All staffs are very friendly and helpful. I like French cuisine and this is one of my favourite. We also pretty satisfied to our food, all nicely prepared and tasty. Except the onion soup was a bit salty. Not a fancy French restaurant but feeling homey and very welcoming! Price reasonable. The only one thing I will complain is hard to get a parking. Overall highly recommended.

My wife and I wanted a special experience for our 43th anniversary . We were more than pleased. The sommelier Jascha B. really knew his material and he made selecting a wine an enjoyable process. Our server Phoenix was first rate. The food was exactly as described on the menu. I had the black cod and not only was the filet perfectly cooked but the tasty sauce was excellent. My wife had the Nicoise salad and it was expertly balanced. I will come back .

Yelp
The food is very delicious. I highly recommend going here to celebrate someone's birthday, anniversary, or even going on a date just for the food and wine. However, I feel the service would have been much improved if they would have done something to make someone's birthday extra special like providing a small slice of cake from the dessert menu. Overall, it was a good evening with delicious French food and cuisine.

Yelp
A touch of France in Toronto! The menu was pure French bistro and we had the option to sit outside which we did. Our server was great-we asked about one of their drinks and he brought us a small taste just to try it! The mussels were fresh and the lemon tarte was perfect. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Drove an hour and half here for my bday dinner with a friend, the food and service had gone way downhill. The scallops, mussel and frites was salty, the Seafood Bouillabaisse was also really salty beyond the norm. We had to send the two main courses back. I have been to this restaurant few time when the food was good and their pricing was reasonable, everything has gone downhill. I will not return any time soon and will not recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.

Yelp
Best duck confit so far, the white beans casserole is not as good comparatively. But the duck confit is crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, perfect bit. Appetizer scallop and foie gras, would recommend the foie gras, nice ice wine gel to reduce the greasiness of the foie gras. Scallop is seared well, but potato mesh on the side a bit salty. Dessert went for rum baba, not my cup of tea, but classic, nicely soaked. Just too filling for someone already feasted lol.

Yelp
Food:4/5. Service: 5/5. Oysters, escargot, beef tartare; duck confit, trout. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great meal from start to finish. Got wise help selecting a bottle of French syrah -- had to pair w/ steak frites and moules frites -- it was wonderful. Half dozen oysters were sweet and briny, really nice bowl of olives. Entrees mentioned above were great, sauce w/ mussels especially so. Then, already too full, we ordered a tarte tatin, didn't come close to finishing it, but not for lack of interest. The apples and the caramel sauce were amazing. Really lovely evening.

Yelp
The French onion soup was so delicious. Very generous amount of gooey cheese. The beef tartare was another highlight of the meal. I would come back just to order those two again. Also enjoyed the duck confit from the entrees. Curious to try their desserts but got too full near the end

Yelp
Truly one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From the fresh rhubarb, orange, and radicchio salad, warm, marinated olives, and crisp baguette staters to the impeccable black cod, roasted chicken, Brussel sprouts, and pommes frites to the lemon tart and chocolate mousse desserts, every bite was a delight. The fact that the meal was beautifully paced and orchestrated by the truly lovely Melanie, and took place on the restaurant's charming patio with my son on Father's Day, made this a very special Toronto summer night. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back for more.

Yelp
Had their French onion soup and was watery and salty and the Costco frozen version was 10X's better and they should have just served that instead and I would have been happy. Ordered other mains and it was mediocre at best. It was one of my go-to restaurants from the 90's but something terrible has happened to either the management or the kitchen/ chef or both.

Yelp
I am a fan of french bistro comfort food in general, but I think that one of the things I like so much about Le Select, it is a lovely spot for a date, or a business lunch or brunch with friends minus the King West vibe IYKYK. I understand that they have had at least one ownership change since i was last there and so I was a little curious to see if that had translated to any changes. I am happy to say it had not. The space is warm and welcoming, the food is good, the service and the ambience is great.

Yelp
Went there for our anniversary night with my SO. Food was okay, but we were very disappointed with the service. We made a reservation at 5:45pm, which clearly states that "the table will be reserved for two hours" on the website. At first the food and service were good. At 7:15pm (1.5 hr later), they told us "it is already over 2 hours" and asked us to leave immediately while we haven't finished our food. I politely told her that we've only been here for 1.5 hr and our reservation was for 2 hours. They said they told us that they would need the table at 7:15pm when we sat down, however both my SO and I were pretty sure they did not say that. We would not have dined here if that were the case. We were excited to have dinner at this restaurant and had an extremely disappointing experience. We are reasonable people and will definitely leave if the time is up. We felt disrespected and felt it was unreasonable for them to ask us to leave when our reservation period hasn't ended and we haven't finished our food. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a good night
