Le Sillon

We had an amazing time and really enjoyed our dinner. We started with mixed seafood platter, it was absolutely delicious and fresh. Followed by duck for me and fish chosen by chef for my husband, both dishes were exceptional. We ended our dinner with dessert, which was really the icing on the cake, we had crepe Suzanne and strawberry basil dessert, these were mind-blowing.

I came late, near closing time. I was pretty much ignored by the waitstaff rushing about, but was able to get a table. After a wait, i got the menus - the wine list is impressive, a massive book organized very well. The food was mediocre: i had the Chateaubriand that was large but chewy and the sauce it was swimming in was pretty tasteless. It came with fries, which were soggy, lukewarm and clearly not freshly made. Haphazard plating with no excellence. The service was a bit chaotic, i think i eventually interacted with 3 or 4 different persons. Seemed like a touristy seafront place for large groups. As i was leaving, the servers were still bringing in replacement dishes for customers who had complaints, although the place had officially closed. Not a good experience.

Nice restaurant at Sillon Beach in St. Malo. We were there at a bank holiday weekend around 4pm, the restaurant seemed empty inside but the outdoor area was quite nice, with 1 family and another couple. A little bit on the pricey side, which is understandable given the location. We ordered oysters, they were really fresh, to drink I had a passion fruit mojito (amazing!!) and my husband ordered a blonde beer, which seems stronger than the average blonde, maybe because it was crafted. The lad who served us was great, very polite and patient with our little French skills. He seemed to be alone during that time because he took a long time to take and bring our order, however this didn’t bother us too much as we were enjoying the sun and the view. The outdoor terrace is perfect, facing the beach, great place to relax while enjoying great cocktails. Would definitely recommend this place during summer for cocktails and fresh sea food.

Great view and tasty food, but unfortunately the service really let the experience down. Our group of four was greeted without warmth, waited a long time for menus, and received no assistance with translations when we asked for an English menu. The wine we ordered was “out of stock” and replaced without asking, with a higher price — only corrected after we questioned it. There were multiple billing mistakes and no apologies, and the overall atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming. Such a shame, as the location and food have real potential if the customer service improves.

The food is good, but the service team was totally unacceptable and ruined the whole experience. We ordered one bottle of wine, but the waitress swapped it for a pricier one without telling us and charged us for two. Dessert was billed extra, even though it’s part of the set menu. Staff even told customers to learn French—so rude! Waiters kept stepping out to smoke during dinner, killing the vibe. Honestly, I feel pity for the chef because the food deserved better. This place was a nightmare, and I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

The lobster Armoricaine is fantastic but a real messy experience with all the sauce everywhere. A cheese platter with salad was a new experience… The staff is very friendly but doesn’t seem to have had much training. The restaurant is right next to the beach and with high tide the waves hit the building which is fantastic but the decoration has a few years.

Terrible service! We waited over 20 minutes with no attention. They didn't inform us our ordered wine was out of stock and tried to replace it with a more expensive bottle without asking. The bill was overcharged for two bottles of wines and a dessert which was already included in the set menu. The waiter was rude despite their mistakes. The whole experience was well below basic service standards, totally disappointing.

Absolutely gorgeous view of the water front at our table when we dined here! Loved the romantic setting and everything we had was very good. Our waitress was very pleasant and mostly attentive during our visit with very good explanation of the menu. We are this restaurant to our list to return to when we visit St Malo again. Definitely recommend to dine here!
