The place is beautiful, and they make great use of their space. It feels like stepping back in time, when dining was an acitivity reserved for the affluent. I suspect that the steak was not dried and salted prior to cooking, so don't expect any crust and ensure to season at the table. The lunch special is worth it. Spent $100 and got 5 decent plates (3 oysters, salad, baked potato, cake, coffee). The atmosphere made up for the lack of depth in the food, and the service was impeccable. I'll be back, perhaps to try their cigar lounge.

Great experience! Excellent food, ambiance and especially service! You pay for all the quality this restaurant offers! From opening doors, to pulling out my chair, providing warm hand cloths, to preparing the cesar salad in front of you.. all of it is 5 star! Will definitely be back!!!

We came as a group of 5 on Friday night and I have to say, the best part of our experience was our excellent server, Sammi. Made us feel welcome, was great with recommendations and he made sure to call over the sommelier for wine recommandations. The food was great, the fact that the dining room was more intimate made for a even better, calm dinner. My only "problem" was that the plates weren’t really hot so the food wasnt kept hot really long.

It’s usually so much better! We aren’t weekly regulars, more like three or four times a year, with the family, twice a year in a big group, but this was by far a surprising disappointment. Went New Years Eve before the gala. The steaks across the board were tough and charred. Same atmosphere, same awesome service, great drinks, the bisque and wedge salad were all great. But the filets, sirloin and rib steak were all tough. Overbooked? Rushed? New chef? I dunno, but the five of us spent 1200.00 for dinners. At over 100.00 per steak, it should have been better. We won’t go back for a while. The owner said he/she didn’t see my name on the reservation list but didn’t address my concerns. That’s because the reservation was made by my partner, in her name.

We decided to check out this upscale steak house in Montreal,the Rib n Reef. All I can say about this place was that if you want the best service and atmosphere and the food is not the highest priority, prepare to open up your wallet and check this place out. The food was not to match the pricetag but maybe going here is not just about the food,but the experience. Hat's off the the wait staff that serve here, they are the finest.

Great food, I liked the seasoning on the tartare, delicious cesar salad and desserts. If you want a good restaurant and nice decor and ambiance and great food, this is the place for you. They deserve a 10/10. However, I do believe the prices are too high for what they offer, there are other good steakhouses with similar options and taste. But keep in mind it is high-end (valet, coat check, personalized experience, etc.) so I understand why some people would pay these prices.

Serving possibly one of the best steak tartares in Montreal. If not the only traditional style tartare prepared tableside. Edit note- Ok so as Peter has requested, I changed my rating to 5 stars.

I had the pleasure of dining at Rib N Reef, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of that classic, upscale steakhouse charm. The service was impeccable and the staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure every detail was perfect without being intrusive. While Rib N Reef is known for its steaks, I have to say I had the greatest Alfredo pasta I’ve ever tasted. It was rich, creamy, and packed with flavour, every bite was heavenly. It’s not often you find a steakhouse that nails pasta like that, but they absolutely did! If you’re looking for an elevated dining experience, whether it’s a special occasion or just a night out to indulge, Rib N Reef is the place to be. I can’t wait to go back and experience it all over again! Thank you!! 🖤✨

Last week, while noticing quite a few restaurants were closed for an extra long holiday (which we Americans are not used to) my cousin called Rib-N-Reef and found out to our surprise, they were open, and we were fortunate enough not to need a reservation! When we walked in, noticed the place was fully staffed (right after the holidays) and were immediately greeted by four smiling faces, back to back. From the valet, to the hostess, to the coat checker, to the waiter. After sitting down, the waiter was incredibly polite, and after mentioning it was my first time here, he gave me some great recommendations. After ordering, and before we even got our appetizers, the pre appetizer items (pickle, coleslaw, bread and butter) were absolutely beautiful as far as presentation, and flavor! The pickle was definitely brined specifically for this restaurant, and the bread was one of those shapes you know they had to carefully find, and make sure there were no burnt pieces. On top of that, the butter was this fun shaped flower, which I enjoyed. When it came to sides, the mushrooms were scrumptious, with the perfect amount of sautéing and the mashed potatoes were like eating a cloud (a tasty one at that). The steak? The steak was absolutely perfectly cooked. I ordered medium rare and it was rare in just the right places with a nice searing. The garlic that was to be squeezed on top added a great flavor as well! I have to add two more compliments and a complaint. The decor had me feeling like I was in the godfather (compliment). The sparkling water was quite delicious, (ordered by my companions) which I usually dont like, but.. I may have to call in to ask about what kind it was! The negative item was I was so tired (for when I went) I forgot to order dessert! Overall a fantastic experience, for a place that when I visit Montreal next (in a month or so) I'll be back for more, and this time I will be ordering dessert, and bringing my entire family!

One word to describe this restaurant: glamorous. It's got an old school feel with waiters wearing formal attire, a valet service, and the general ambience feeling like you're in a movie. Location wise is very interesting since you're in the Decarie highway area. But it's still packed regardless of the location. It's definitely one of the more expensive steakhouses in Montreal. But everything is cooked perfectly and super mouthwateringly delicious. It's a treat yourself kind of meal. They do have a table d'hôte service which makes it pretty worth it! I tried the filet mignonette with the foie gras and honestly it was incredible. I came in with very little expectations but wow was I blown away by this dish. Service is also very attentive! It seems they have regulars who they know by name.

Last time I came here was over 4 years ago!! Time for a new review ! Came here on a work meeting. Everything was splendid .. just don't understand their valet service and how it's mandatory even though you park 2 seconds away lol.. otherwise everything was perfect. Atmosphere: Excellent ! The place was very clean and elegant. Love coming here!! Service: A1 .. very professional and pleasant. Started with a few cocktails to warm up the mood. I had the piña collada very strong thankfully I like it strong haha. The food was delicious.. we enjoyed the complimentary bread sticks and bread buns with butter I had Rockefeller Oysters as an appi.. yum it was scrumptious ! Enjoyed the Caesar salad for 4. It was a whole show .. the waiter prepared the salad in front of us for everyone to see. It was a cool experience definitely fun to watch!! I tried to stay healthy and clean haha so definitely had to order grilled veggies, asparagus and mushrooms. I had some roast beef as a main and washed it down with more cocktails. I had no more room for desert but wanted to try a Brazilian Coffee maybe next time !! Overall, I had a fabulous time and will definitely be back soon Cheers

Had a great birthday! Would for sure recommend. Seafood to start and an amazing roast beef. Staff took great care of us from top to bottom.

Food was good but price too expensive for the quantity we got. We ordered 1lb lobster for 140$ but got a small bowl so we were very dissapointed. Next time will buy at supermarket or seafood market and cook it ourselves. Luckily we ordered side dishes to keep us a bit full.

We had a wonderful time. I had family visiting from Ontario, I wanted to bring to an iconic place in Montreal, I was not let down. Valet parking, incredible service and the meat and seafood was to die for. Highly recommend.

We went here before the lockdown, restaurant was extremely packed, we had to wait awhile for them to setup a new table for us. Service was very slow but it's understandable because of how busy the restaurant was. I ordered dry-aged steak. Which was perfectly cooked to my liking and tasted delicious. My partner ordered giant grilled shrimps. Which were also very flavourful and delicious. I really enjoyed my experience but probably would've enjoyed it even more if the restaurant wasn't super packed.

Came out from Texas was looking for a good steak place for my husband's birthday. Needless to say, we would have been better off just going somewhere else. There are mixed reviews because you can tell who they take care of, and who they brush off to the side in terms of level or service they provide. For more details scroll. If you want a quick answer do not waste your time or money coming here if you are visiting Montreal. We were seated around 8, server seemed very rushed every time he was talking to us, ordered because we were just ready to eat and continue our night (again, out of town-ers celebrating a birthday) we got our food around 9:05PM... we waited over 45 minutes for our food, and they couldn't just tell us "we forgot to put your food order in." Which is bad enough, but the server just could not admit he mad a mistake. His manager had to tell me AFTER I asked. I was furious, my husband's birthday in Montreal and we came out from downtown left our 5 start hotel for THIS?! Food (when we finally got it) was not worth the cost, quality wasn't anything ground breaking, it gave me Outback Steakhouse vibes with a Cigar Lounge. We are from Texas we KNOW steak and beef. This was definitely not quality and not worth it for anyone traveling. To make up for the disaster they give cheap Prosecco and some of the cheapest desserts on their menu. OH THE "BEST" part was when at the end, after charging us for everything the server looked at my husband and said "nothing personal right?" UH HUH? Is this a joke?! I'm actually embarrassed to tell people we ate here. Highly displeased and disappointed. Every part of our trip was Incredibly wonderful, EXCEPT this place. And although we are from out of town and don't have to say we won't be back, we will recommend our friends visiting with $$$ spend it ELSEWHERE. YIKES.

(Read as 3.5 out of 5 stars) This place is a throwback to my grandparents' generation when Decarie blvd. was THE place to be. While those days are LONG gone, you can still find yourself a decent meal here. Priced substantially higher than Gibbys and even Moishes, this steakhouse aims to portray itself as the height of luxury. The food, while good, can be moderately to obscenely overpriced depending on the menu item. The room was almost 3/4 packed on a Friday night. The clientele here is unique in terms of their demographics. There is very good people watching to be had here. You have a mix of young hustlers with their plastic surgery/trophy appendages, Ville St Laurent importer/exporter types, guys who once did well in the carpeting business, and Dick Tracy villains. You also have regular clientele just trying to enjoy a quiet dinner. Dinner starts with a very nice bread basket, pickles, and coleslaw all free of charge (or should I say included). They more than ding you charging 17$/shrimp in a shrimp cocktail. That would be 68$ plus tax and tip for a 4 shrimp cocktail. The waiter said they were very big. They looked like they were the size of my thumb. Calm down. There are many other examples of ridiculous prices here. A dozen oysters for 54$, 280$ seafood tower, a platter of 3 shrimp, calamari, 3 Rockefeller oysters, some octopus and vegetables for 120$. These dishes must appeal to those who get an ego boost from being able to throw away money just for the fun of it. For a relatively reasonable 32$ price tag, I split the caesar salad for 2 with my brother-in-law. It's a whole dog and pony show prepared table-side. They are essentially making a salad dressing by emulsifying the ingredients in a wooden bowl at the table. It takes about 8 minutes which is a bit awkward if you are trying to have a conversation in the presence of the salad guy. Ultimately, I found the salad tasted overwhelmingly of olive oil. As for capers, anchovies, cheese, bacon, and egg......I'm sure they were all there, but all I could taste was romaine and olive oil. For my main, I had the prime rib and a side of fries which will run you a combined 66$ dollars. The prime rib was absolutely delicious. Served in it's own juices and served medium rare as I requested, I polished off every ounce of the meat with a smile on my face. The plate comes with peas and a yorkshire pudding which was not prepared properly. It was dry and crispy on the outside, but lacked the chewy and moist inner filling that the authentic version of the dish must have. Fries were standard and good. They have valet parking even though the restaurant is literally located IN a parking lot overlooking the scenic Decarie expressway. Finally, in case the company credit card needs a further workout, there is a cigar room where you can light up one of their overpriced cigars to go with your scotch and cognac. Not a bad gig if you can get it. That said, Gibby's reputation as the gold standard for steakhouses in Montreal is still very much intact.

Worst experience ever ! Starts from the parking lot where I comfortably parked my car and a valet driver tries to hand me a ticket stating this is a valet parking area and I should park further away if I intended to park myself, I guess they do not know the real reasoning behind a valet parking so a client does not want to walk a distance to go to the restaurant.... Then you enter the premises and get these observation looks like who are you , you do not look like a regular here .... Then we where steered to the weirdest seating placement in the restaurant. Over looking at the decor I could not help but laugh it was gauche to say the least, no theme .... Of course as soon as we sat down an Asian well manner lady served as breads and bread sticks etc. then we ordered our meal it was lunch time and really not that hungry my client my really into trying their onion soup and I ordered a simple salad with blue cheese dressing. While waiting for our appetizer festival, the table next to me ordered a Caesar's Salad which apparently is suppose to be prepared by the waiter, but the waiter was as a newbie and was being trained by a senior waiter. This I would probably understand , but when you are in a supposed ritzy restaurant why should the customer be treated like a Guinea Pig and be tested on ... finally after thirty minutes our appetizers arrived , Onion soup was great but what I received shocked moi, two quarters of iceberg lettuce with three cherry tomatoes and microscopic amount of blue cheese . So next can coffee and ordered a cappuccino. Well the cappuccino arrived and lifted the cup like a normal person to sip it and to my surprise or another shock I see the Logo of Nespresso embedded in the saucer, how classy and professional is that one , so here I am paying $6.00 for a coffee which costs less $.50 a pod . So I asked for my bill and while waiting the bus boy came around doing his job and was of African decent , which is no problem, but it showed me how prejudiced this establishment was ! With this silly adventure I am glad I did not try anything else in the establishment and highly not recommended anyone to even try it there are much better steakhouses in the city and area to be honest.

Valet drivers are like the Mafia. Tried to bully me into their valet service and when I declined, one of them parked a customers car so tight next to mine I had to struggle to squeeze into my vehicle. I severely dented the poor customers passengers side door as he was inside dinning. I am sure the clueless customer was not aware of the valet driver was using his brand new $80,000 Jeep as an act of revenge. The sad part is he paid for the valet parking service. I do not allow anyone to drive my vehicle because it is a company car and that is our policy. Other than running into the Canadian Mafia in the parking lot the food was overpriced for the quality. I would have been better off going to the Longhorn Steakhouse and probably would have saved $80.00 on a better steak. I don't think the Longhorn Steakhouse has valet parking so i would not have had to damage someones vehicle to enter mine. I do not recommend this restaurant.

This is a little weird, because I'm writing a review based on what this restaurant was like back in the 1980's, when I was a kid. My mom told me about this steak house, and so she took me there. I forget what I ate, but I most likely had steak, and I'm guessing it was good. This restaurant is on Decarie and has many items on the menu. I looked at the menu recently and it seems pricey, but I'm sure it's worth it. If I ever go to Montreal for a weekend, I want to visit 3 places. The first is this restaurant, the second is the 'Maison Symphonique', or Symphony House, at 'Place des Arts' and the third is Dunn's Famous smoked meat. Anyway, for all the carnivores out there, this is the place to get a steak in Montreal. Enjoy!

Perfect place for my first meal (ever) in Montreal. Upon arriving, we checked in with the hostesses and got seated right away. Coat check is complimentary but we opted to keep our since we were still chilly from being outside. An assortment of bread, sides of pickles, and some type of Cole slaw arrived on our table right away. I've never seen pickles served at steakhouses before (in the US) so this threw me off :) My husband ordered a gin martini which he enjoyed (he got more later). I started with probably the best lobster bisque I've ever had. I mean there were huge chunks of lobster claw meat in it. I struggled with my spoon to break it down lol. My husband enjoyed his wedge salad with lots of real bacon bits. Later, we shared the tamarind and maple bacon starter and it's not bacon, it's huge chunks of pork belly! Sooooon good! As for entree, I got the "junior cut" rib steak which was huuuuge with truffle butter on top. My husband got the filet mignon. It came with roasted garlic on the side which was delicious but skip this if you're on a first date here ;) We also shared a side of mushrooms which was also delicious. We were too full for dessert and I was becoming so sleepy so I opted for cappuccino. The service was top notch for beginning to end. I definitely recommend this place.

From start to finish everything was incredible. From the service to the atmosphere to the incredible tasting meal. Always love coming, never ever leave disappointed. Caesar salad which is prepared in front of you is fantastic. No other restaurant can compare. Had the tuna (made to perfection and melt in your mouth)

Came here during a conference. The place is fancy and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and showed us the way to the conference room. I took the salmon tartare as an appetizer, the steak as the main and a chocolate cake as dessert. The portions are huge and it's hard to eat everything. However, they all had a great taste, especially the tartare.

Ferrero Rocher cake, good. Ordered Calmars which were good. Crab cakes, decent Grilled Octopus: stale, smelly, got me sick for 2 days on mere 2 bites. Why are they serving improper food. Just don't. Never again I shall return. Not cool.

Came for my Bday and had reservations upstairs in the Cigar lounge. The service to begin with was horrendous, ordered two Caesar salads one for two and one for four, my friends got their salads first and the other four guys waited over 30 minutes for ours, waitress claimed they needed to clean the bowl, I guess they only have one bowl in the entire restaurant. Plates never picked up after the salads, the waitress is completely lost. We need ordered our Steaks which actually arrived in a timely fashion. I ordered mine Medium rare, the steak was so dry and tasteless I've never been so upset, I didn't even eat half, I wanted to return it but the waitress was nowhere to be found. The potato was also not very good too much cheese and just over did. All in all after spending almost $900.....I will never go back

The Rib n reef is Montreal's premier steakhouse. At rib n reef you are assured that your meal will be the absolute best quality possible. I cannot stress enough how delicious and high quality every dish at the rib n reef is. For indulgence, the rib is the place to go. Enjoy the finest, Brandon

From the beginning the server was rude as hell, only until my boyfriend started drinking Hennessy xo and coke which is 50$ a pop. Suddenly the waiter now was making eye contact and checking up on us. Before we even sat at our table he was hounding us for our drink requests. BEFORE WE SAT DOWN. Following that everything was extremely tasteless, steak was over done for all 3 of us. Vegetables were bland. No idea who's been eating this place so highly.

Rib 'N Reef has been around for awhile and caters to a very specific type of clientele. They're well known in my circle of friends as the premiere steakhouse so you'll have to expect to pay the big bucks to enjoy an evening in their establishment. Driving in, I was provided with a valet and coat service and effectively handed off to the hostess who consequently led us to our seating. The establishment is very elegant and aesthetically pleasing. While this may lead to some thinking this location would be a place you'd take a significant other to for a special evening, for reasons I'll share later I'd recommend this establishment more for a client meeting or an anniversary, albeit, if all parties are able to pay for their meals. They also have a cigar lounge, great option for those of you who love that type of stuff. I sadly didn't partake. The menu has a nice variety of options but the one thing that stood out to me is the pricing. It was a little exorbitant even to my budget. How exactly is a 16 oz sirloin steak (New York cut) with no side orders priced at $66? I understand dry-aged USDA prime corn-fed midwestern beef is a quality meat but honestly adding on a much needed side order priced anywhere between $8 to $15 is exaggerated. I opted for the onion rings with aïoli sauce ($9). The sirlon steak was very good but felt they missed the mark with my medium-rare request as it leaned more on rare than I would have liked. The myoglobin oozed out of my steak far too much for my liking, particularly after my steak was resting for some time. Nonetheless, I did enjoy it but what I really enjoyed were the onion rings with aïoli sauce. They were HUGE, with the perfect crispy/saltiness on the outside and chewy flavor on the inside. The aïoli sauce was a nice touch. The meal was wrapped up with one of our many waiters (or the battalion of men in suits we saw standing around) bringing us some hot towels to wash our faces and hands. So fancy! We ordered dessert and I went with their creme brulee and cappuccino. The creme brulee was decent but I felt the creme lacked flavor. The cappuccino was good. One of my dining guests had a burnt souffle. They did opt to waive the cost of it when she brought up her concerns. There was an awkward 5 minute wait while we waited on everyone's plate to come. It's important all drinks and desserts are served at the same time. ... Let's talk about the service and the environment a little. As I mentioned earlier, I feel this location isn't an ideal place you'd take a significant other to for a special evening as it's pretty loud once it gets about half full. Furthermore, anniversaries and client meetings happen and your 1 on 1 dining experience can be somewhat mulled by all that noise. The table beside our had a pair of patrons, sharing a meal between a client and a sales-rep and I literally was able to hear their loud conversation all night long along with all the swear words and childish references to female genitalia and how easy women are in this city. We had many staffers around and I'm sure the ladies at my table would have appreciated if they could have toned down their conversation. Regarding the staff, they are plenty around but somehow my glass of tap water only got refilled once during the entire evening. Very strategic and easily noticed. Particularly how quickly and efficiently they ensured my glass of wine was never empty. Speaking of the wine, we opted for the Chianti Ruffino and it was delicious. Obviously the chianti had a price-tag and the tap water did not. Overall, it was an average experience. The price-tag isn't something I wouldn't say no to on occasion as long as I find value to it, which I felt I didn't. Having a 16 oz steak, a side order of onions shouldn't cost you $80. That's just me though. The service and quality of food didn't feel like a 5 star experience and I felt they missed the mark.

Overpriced and unfortunately they do not provide value for your money. The latest prices should reflect a great experience not just a good experience. Service is good and atmosphere is just ok. Too bad because with the closing of Moshe's this place should be Montreal best steakhouse

Last Saturday was my second visit to Rib 'N Reef, both times for our wedding anniversary. I must say that the some 15 years in between our visits gave ample time to jack up their prices! Even with a $100 gift card, we had to disburse over $200 for the meal. Hubby took one beer, and that was all the extant of our alcohol consumption for the evening! But... the food was good (probably not $300 good). I had the crab cakes (which comes with a mustard sauce which I did not care for at all) and were really good; mostly crab, not filling! Hubby had the tuna tartar, which is made at the table and was amazing. The lobster tail that came with my steak was cooked perfectly, tender and savory. My steak was good, but, I think hubby can make it if not better, as good as them on the bbq! I like my steak rare, and its a very difficult thing to get in a restaurant; seems like Rib 'N Reef included. It was quite tasty and very tender though. Hubby really enjoyed his NY Strip and garlic mashed potatoes. Finally, I have to admit that their crème brulée is as good as mine... damn it! ;) What really impressed me there though, was the quality of the service. Those guys know their business and are an integral part of what makes a meal at the Rib 'N Reef so special! Thank you very much to the very nice and professional waiters!

This is where you spend a lot of money and go to McDonald's afterwards because you realized you had terrible food and want to wash it down with something better. I've had better steak at the keg...

Real Five Star Dining Five stars are like VD's on Yelp, they spring up everywhere. Home Depot, Wendy's, everywhere but this restaurant is truly five stars. I have eaten here twice, both times were some of my greatest dining experiences to date. The service is beyond reproach, as each waiter tends to a small section and majority of them are on the older side so they've been waiting tables since before you were born. And it's the little things that make this place great. They decant your wine before your food arrives so it aerates well. Everything is prepared table side, salad tossed, Creme bruleed, it is quite a sight. Then there is the Wine list, it's longer than my...well, it's long. They pride themselves on having one of the most vast and stocked wine cellars in the city. The food, like the service, is beyond reproach. My first raw oyster experience occurred here, they were divine. Plump oysters, shucked perfectly, with all appropriate accoutrement and a liqueur that tasted like the Atlantic...ocean, not city. They age their beef, so the connective tissue becomes butter, seasoned with a great Montreal steak spice, the decadence is ridonkulous. Then there is the 16oz Prime Rib en Jus, this is the best piece of meat I have ever had, without question. Side with a Monte Carlo potato, some Quebec asperges and washed down with and '03 St. Supery and you'll be texting St. Peter that you're all good to go. His number is 55G-ATES by the way...we're tight. wakawaka

Completely over rated rubbery over priced steaks cooked using a blow torch. When charging $74 for a steak, the least you expect is to have it prepared to your doneness. Wrong. The superb service doesn't make up for how awfull the bone in steaks are here. Once you fight yourself through the harassing valet parking agents you are faced with a pleasant dining experience. Did I mention $19 per shrimp, really? Skip it if you don't have a generous expense account or aren't a millionaire.

For steak lovers, this is a good place to go to!! The service is sometimes slow but hey, it's not their fault! We Miss Pedro & Johnny...that's why we don't visit as often anymore since they aren't working anymore. In the summer, their roof top terrace is amazing! The food and wine is good, but sometimes the steak can be overcooked. No problem, just send it back. Their mini burgers, mac and cheese and calamari are my favourites! They have an extensive wine list and have a wine for everyone! Cheers to Peter and his team!

We ordered for New Years Eve by email on Tuesday and they called the same day to go over the order. We had to pick it up at 6 pm. My husband called around three to confirm the order. It took them 15 minutes to find it, but they confirmed the pick up for 6pm. We had to go there personally because our friends had given us a gift certificate for our anniversary and we had to show the card. When we arrived it was mayhem. They couldn't find the order so after 15 min they took it again. We waited. Half the staff in the kitchen were not wearing masks or distancing. There were people waiting for orders. Way too many for the space. No distancing and I called it out as I was upset. They finally brought out an order which was not ours. So in the end we walked out. No dinner. They should not advertise if they can't cope and if they don't follow the gov restrictions they should be closed down and fined.

Best steak ever! They have a wonderful gentlemens cigar lounge as well. Service was also very top notch and they ensured we had a great time.

ZERO STARS if it was an option. What a ridiculous place!!! Food is not even average and the service well take a seat and read on: This place USED to be a fun place to go and unwind and smoke a cigar & have drink. Well, that unfortunately has officially changed. After frequenting this "establishment" for many years, its time to find a new place to frequent. I guess spending about 500/week is simply NOT enough to get a little common respect in this establishment.. Our group came in and ordered many drinks and lit some cigars amongst the CIGARETTE SMOKERS. Yes, they let people smoke CIGARETTES upstairs in their "cigar lounge" (wink wink). Hey, its not our place to say anything so we go with the flow but really thats how much this place has gone downhill. At 850pm, the manager said hey you guys have to leave since we have a reservation coming in at 9pm. It really would have been nice to give us a heads up considering we had been there awhile and had just ordered another round of cocktails. Alas this was not the case as the management rudely came and asked us to leave. The place was empty but we obliged. We paid our bill, tipped our waitress and left quietly.

I stop in on New Years Eve. The food was ok. We like the ambience and it was a good night. We spend $240 with tip. I was way too expensive for me.

Easily my favourite steakhouse in Montreal. Service is always excellent, from the valet parking all the way up.... the wine cellar downstairs is tremendous, the food is what you'll compare all other top notch steakhouses to and I'm still dreaming about the tableside tuna tartare. Yes, it's expensive, but you won't regret it after you experience an evening there.

Very fine dining. Pricey. Exceptional service. Prime rib was really gòod. Definitely will come back.

I loved the shrimp it was so amazing that I can't describe it ! The steak was okay nothing that wow to me !! u can get it elsewhere for a better price ! The service was perfect nothing to complain about ! Overall I will go back to it specially for the shrimps

Fancy! Honestly dress up or down its a very nice place and atmosphere. They have made at your table caesar salad and crepes suzette! Food itself it only above average, though. Service is great except that we waited literally 20 minutes to get the cheque at the end..... also it gets loud and is rather difficult to navigate due to all the carts making food around the tables! Solid drinks though, and a delightfully spicy bloody mary.

Solid steakhouse offerings. Service is excellent. Oysters, rib streak, shrimp all very tasty. Mille feuille dessert is home made and quite divine. Bring plenty of ca$h! A notch below Moishes or 40 West.

High price and Terrible food The Caesar salad had wilted leaves and the dressing was so heavy it was inedible The steak tartare was supposed to be spicy but was very bland and the rare steaks were overcooked and dry all this for $175 per person or $350 for 2 of us.

All good although the prices are rather high for certain items. On a Saturday night you can't hear yourself think as the younger crowd takes over with all of their enthusiasm. The cigar lounge is excellent and a welcome addition to a city that has lost its culture and class. Kudos to this establishment. The two other renown steak houses should take note as a lot of their old regular clients are now departing to a steak house that is consistent and appreciates its customers .

This my second time and let me tell you from the moment you're welcomed with the valet to the last service, everything is exceptional! I love the fact they give you a break between courses. The caesar salad is made in front of you and its reaaally good salad, not your typical caesar salad. The filet mignon with blue cheese was perfect so was the classic roast beef. Hands downs best steak i've ever ever had, The table d'hôte is affordable. The ambiance is so nice and chic. Super worth it and highly recommended.

I just came back from the Rib n Reef in Montreal with a number of friends who go to this restaurant fairly often. This was my first time. I was very disappointed. However speaking to my friends, they told me that my issues with this place, although well founded, are not typical of the restaurant. For a steakhouse charging the kind of money they do must do a better job with their service. My friends ordered a Cesar salad that is prepared at the table. Well, if prepared at the table, I would expect that the person preparing the salad concentrate on preparing the dish and not multi task with the rest of the staff and instruct others on administrative matters. The same thing happened when my friends ordered 2 Brazilian coffees. The person preparing the coffees was busy with collecting cash from other tables, having some of the wait staff place glasses at a different table, and then stop the "show" and serve the others at our table our regular coffee. They should pay attention to what they are doing and make the experience a nice one. At the end, there was a few mix ups with the bills and it just created to the overall disappointment with the service. Finally, one last comment, my roast beef was luke warm when it was served to me.

so upset, our new year's eve dinner was ruined. we had put an order in for delivery and never got it... after waiting for over an hour, we tried calling a hundred times and no one answered the phone. had no choice but to go down there only to find a long line and had to wait over an hour just to be told that they did not have our order. Funny thing, we had an order number, time for delivery and our credit card went thru.... this is absolutely no way to treat your customers. Not even an apology...

Um, I'm going to go with glorious, though definitely surprising off the highway up there by Decarie. Seriously though, go there for friendly dignified service from attentive men in suits who make the tartare and salads table side; dish up baked potato fixings from silver serving dishes; compliment your wine choices; hand you hot towels when your done; make you feel welcome ever if you are wearing a baseball cap or making inappropriate jokes. (Which I never do. Honest.) More importantly; delicious. Perfect lobster tail - I only risk ordering this when I think there's a very high probability it will be perfect and it was, oh yes it was. Most of the manly men at our table ordered the roast beef and appeared gleeful at the size and flavour of the great beast that came. I didn't taste it though, too busy cracking tail and high fiving my new pickle friends. Did I mention the bowls of big fat pickles on the table? Because that's gets you close to 5 stars right there in my book. Great time with wonderful people, will gladly return. Thanks to the wise Yelpers who introduced me to Rib 'N Reef!

RIb n reef !!!!! The best restaurant I've ever been to in my life and God knows I'm a foodie. The service: A1 firion gave us everything we needed smiling the whole time took care of us like royalty gave us a tour of the wine wind cellar and told s everything we needed to know about each bottle that was in that wine cellar and Louise which I thought was the manager cause she took care of us so well and gave us more than what we needed it was amazing. The food is amazing the prices a reasonable and the ambiance is intimate but so fun at the same time if I could use one word to describe this place : IMPPECABLE

The Rib 'N Reef is barely even a stumble from the orange line which makes it pretty much perfect in my books already. Came here for a birthday party and our waiter looked like a Latin Gene Simmons so I knew that we were off to a good start. I had the sesame crusted tuna which was done to absolute perfection: I'm talking fall apart in your mouth, amazingness. I had the mashed potatoes as a side and they were tasty as well. Only had a bite of the birthday boy's chocolate cake for dessert but it was completely awesome: not too sweet and had a crunch of something yummy in the middle, no way I could have eaten an entire piece to myself, but the bite was soooo good. My dinner mates ordered lobster (it was fantastic), filet mignon which looked delectable and the roast beef...it was HUGE and they all pretty much polished off their plates. Great wine list with some really unique items, nice ambiance, fantastic service...you will not regret dropping some coin here!

Best place to have steak in Montreal, and not only a steak.. their appetizers are BOMB, and ceasar sald that they prepare in front of you is to die for..

Hands down the best steakhouse in the city. The rib steak is spectacular! They make the ceasar salad right in front of you and you can change it to your tastes so its always the best you've had because you helped make it. Staff and managers are very helpful and service is amazing. If you're a cigar aficionado you can go upstairs to the private cigar lounge stocked with great cigars.

There is nothing trendy and pretentious about the Rib 'n Reef. It is just good and that's it! Having the Caesar Salad prepared at your table was nothing special, in all honesty, I'd rather the cook do the cooking and the server do the serving, but the taste was amazing. It is really good, really strong (garlic and flavourful), but really good! I had the juniour cut of Prime Rib cooked medium rare. It was perfectly cooked, but I should order medium, as it just is never hot enough for my liking, Still, it was a gorgeous cut of meat. It was served with green peas, which did nothing, but looked right. The beef was tender and I truly enjoyed every bite! I also had a side of garlic mashed potatoes. They were not warm enough and not all that special. I look forward to visiting again!
