Le Trou Au Mur Restaurant and Roof terrace

If you are traveling through Marrakesh this should be on your short list of dinner restaurants. They were very welcoming and made it an easy experience, with everyone speaking multiple languages. But unlike many places we visited, Le Trou Au Mur seems to understand better why a tourist is visiting Marrakesh. We want to hear the language and feel like we have traveled, and the staff here more openly shared their culture than other places we visited. While I'm delighted so many speak English here, I'm still interested in understanding about the local language and culture. We were able to ask questions about dishes and we were given great background information and had our poor pronunciation gently corrected. As to the food, easily the best presented and tasting dishes we've had. They were promptly prepared and delicious. The raspberry tea was also amazing. To me, I got the impression the chef is or was trained internationally, and is using that experience to curate a wonderful experience at this restaurant. If you're wondering where to get GOOD food in Marrakesh, give them a shot, you won't regret it. As to price, we split a half a bottle of wine with another party, got a tea and two large entrees for 57 USD on my credit card.

We arrived at around 3pm for a late lunch, it may be useful to know that the kitchen closes at 3.30pm however the staff were lovely and accommodating and didn’t make a big thing of this at all - we ordered 4 plates between 3 of us and this was the perfect amount of food for us to share. The food was delicious, the lamb a little pink which was perfect for us - the only criticism would be that the garnish with the lamb was quite wilted - however we appreciated it was the end of service. The juices were divine, I had citron mint, my sister cabbage, spinach, raspberry and blueberry. The staff spoke excellent English and we did not feel rushed at all - although we realised later that they were due to close for a short while ! We would definitely return here - perfect if visiting the Medesa de Ben Yousef as it’s very close by.

Went there for a dinner on a Friday evening. We sat outside on the rooftop. We had booked, but there were plenty of tables available. The setting was very pleasant. Service was great, but the food was not as good as I had hoped. We got the collection of Moroccan salads, which while nicely presented, weren't well seasoned. Moreover, the bread wasn't really all that great, not sure if it wasn't fresh, or if it was simply not great bread. For mains, we got the M'rouzia, which came with couscous. The flavor was good, but the meat was undercooked and hard to cut. The other main was the Mixed Meshoui. Despite its name, it's more traditional barbeque than grilled meat, i.e., it's goat meat slow bbqed for 6 hours. This is this signature dish, and it was great, full of flavor, let down by the accompanying bread. Service was great and attentive. If I were a local, I would go back there but only for their signature Meshwi.

Just perfect!!! You won't be disappointed. Everything from good, wine list, recommendations, service and location made for a memorable night. For 2 people, bottle of wine, cocktail and 2 courses- £100. Booking required but never a problem getting a table.

We really enjoyed lunch here, the dishes were unusual and the menu was interesting overall. The atmosphere was pleasant, and when we were there, it was almost empty. But the fact that they didn't bring us our change after we paid was very upsetting. Only WE can decide whether to leave a tip or not; you have no right to make that choice for us and leave the change without calculating the customer's bill.

Food was ok, portion sizes are very small for the price. Ordered a tagine of the day which on the menu says with couscous for 170 dirham, they asked if we wanted the couscous with it and then charged us extra for it. A bit more transparency would uave been good.

This restaurant is truly first class and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. We’ve found the food scene in Marrakech to be a little inconsistent in terms of speed and quality, but this place was an absolute gem that far exceeded our expectations. The staff were warm and attentive, and the food was some of the best we’ve had during our stay in the city. Thank you for a wonderful evening — we’ll definitely be back!

Lovely place and food. The service is outstanding. Fully recommend if you want to have an unforgettable dinner in Marrakech.
