"Le Variétés is steeped in the Art deco elegance of the Flagey “ocean liner” edifice, an iconic work by architect Joseph Diongre. Exotic wood dominates the sleek brasserie interior, while the terrace plunges you into the buzzy vibe of this lively district. Roast chicken is the house specialty, but the menu boasts a host of other dishes, including a patriotic line-up of Belgian family favourites: tomatoes stuffed with shrimp and vol-au-vent. All the food is down-to-earth, generous and steeped in flavour." - Michelin Inspector

The food was very good; we especially liked the calamari tagliatelle, the cauliflower dish, the escargot, and the chocolate fondant (wonderful). However, our experience with the service fell short of the warm welcome we have received elsewhere in Belgium. Our server barely acknowledged our comments, never smiled, and generally gave the impression that he was annoyed to have to serve us. It almost seemed to be because we chose not to speak in French (we both are perfectly capable with the language, though that shouldn’t matter). It was off-putting after having received such friendly service in other establishments.

Chicken with creamy morels mushroom sauce is a must-have. I would highly recommend going for half portion (instead of quarter). One of the best rotisserie chicken I've tried. The manager also makes a mean whiskey sour. Aperol spritz was okay (would have preferred less aperol more fizz personally). Creme brulee was good too but the tarte tatins base was burnt. Waitress was attentive but she didn't explain the specialis of the day to us. Exceptional experience overall. I would definitely return for the chicken whenever I am back in Brussels.

Have been coming to Le Variétés for many years now, and it always feels very special. The food is absolutely delicious, and the presentation is consistently elegant. The menu is rooted in classical tradition but is always inventive. A special thank you to all the staff, who are very attentive and make you feel truly cared for. Watching the kitchen team prepare such beautiful dishes is always a pleasure. It's easily one of the best dining experiences in Brussels.

I had been here years ago, but now came with a party of 20 foreign colleagues visiting Brussels. This restaurant is ideal when you want to give your guests a flavor of Belgian food. I had the croquettes de crevettes and vol au vent. Both were excellent. Both food and wines are very affordable.

Very friendly, professional and efficient service (a rarity in Brussels nowadays!), delicious reinvented and classic dishes, and a great setting in the heart of buzzing Flagey quarter. What’s not to like? Perfect for a Sunday roast lunch or dinner, which was what we did.

We loved the poulet rôti, especially with the morilles sauce, we will definitely go back

I enjoyed it a lot. Unpretentious, great food served in an ocean liner like setting. If you are in the area it’s well worth a visit. We went for lunch and there were many nice families having a nice time.

Visited on 10 October 2025. The ambience is light and lively, and the décor has an Art Deco feel. The salmon tartare and white sausage with mashed potatoes and applesauce were exquisite. I'd definitely return.

Yelp
Sorry can't make this one more than 3*... :-( The place is nice inside and out. Well situated in this historic landmark of the Flagey area. It used to house the national televison, but is now home to many cultural events. So why not more than 3* stars? The menu is nice but if your not in for chicken or beef, suddenly the selection is very slim. And again if you don't stick to these must have's of Les Variétés then you might be a little dissapointed. My tuna steak was good well grilled but the nicoise lacked seasoning, so just a little disapointing. What I really loved is the staff, super friendly and wecoming even when we walked in at 2130 (which is not alsways the case). We were also granted a free live african music "concert" of some guys who were jaming on the churchs stairs. Yep you guessed it we enjoyed the terrace, which is well set in the quiet corner of square. So to fnish this one, I would say if your in for chicken or beef.... go.

Yelp
Overpriced! Catering to tourists instead of locals Waitress with an attitude which is odd for Brussels. Food was tasty but a bit spicy. Disappointed.

Yelp
The food is good (but nothing exceptional) however the service is truly exceptional - the worst I've ever come across in Brussels! I booked in advance specifically asking for a table away from the door (it can be very cold in this restaurant). We were given a table right beside the door despite my protests and despite there being others clearly empty and not reserved! We waited close to 20 mins to get a menu (and then just one menu shared between four people) and another 10 mins before we could place our order. Waitress failed to mention when giving us the menus that 2 plates were no longer available. Our first choice of wine was also not available, and neither was our second choice (for which we waited and additional 15 mins to be told). We choose a third wine and it was served just as we finished our starter. The waitress was apologetic about the wine, but honestly this is not good enough. We were not even asked if we wanted a dessert/coffee - but just handed the bill without asking for it. This is my fourth time in this restaurant - once before I had a similarly poor experience (a waitress with bad attitude). This was my last time every in this restaurant - NEVER AGAIN!

Yelp
Maybe they were having a bad day but service was awful. It's quite pricey too so you would expect a lot more. A real bummer

Yelp
We had a very nice evening at Le Variétés. Their chicken estragon is just amazing, and the service was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant !
