"In a bustling street in the old town, Le Vauban serves up good contemporary French cuisine that is in step with the seasons and technically sound. Particular attention is paid to the choice of ingredients: amberjack carpaccio with citrus fruits and caviar; low-temperature guinea fowl ballotine; passion fruit soufflé and banana sorbet. It is wise to book." - Michelin Inspector

My wife and I came here after a day touring the complex at Les Invalides on our honeymoon. We were looking for an eatery which offered a meat and cheese platter, and I was pleasantly surprised. We didn’t get to try their offering of mains, that’ll be for the return trip! But I thoroughly enjoyed their gin and tonic, it was very refreshing on a hot day, and the platter hit the spot. The quality of the service was top notch. Our waiter was so kind and helpful, and his colleagues were equally as pleasant to deal with.

I was on a tour of the city and stopped here for a quick breakfast. There were many tables open, and most people were in line at the counter. There was a quick grab and go option, which was convenient. You could choose from a range of hot and cold beverages plus some pastries. I had a café Americano and a pain au chocolat. The food and drink were fine. The cafe was nicely decorated and the outside patio had flowers. The bathrooms were in the basement but the lines was super long.

The view from the outdoor area is awesome. Pleasant, cheerful and kind service. The food alright, a little chewy for the steaks, but I liked the crisp potato chips. Would recommend for drinks :)

Just stopped in for drinks. Great service. Tables turned over quickly since we visited between meal serving times. Nice outdoor seating options.

Great for waiting for Aura Experience! We arrived one hour earlier to the Aura light show and we came here to have dinner. It was very cozy inside, good dinner, good price.

Had an amazing piece of steak at this place, it was lunchtime and was packed, that could be a testimony of how good the food is there. The table service was reasonable, quite polite and the prices fair. I recommend a visit and surely will go there whenever I find myself in Paris. PS: the surrounding area is also filled with cultural attractions worth walking around after lunch or dinner and hear their history.

Delicious food. Cozy atmosphere and friendly waiters. The girl served us the food and kindly took our picture deserved a pay raise for her friable and professionally manner. She helped us all to understand the menu from French to English, as well as provide us recommendations to pick the most Delicious foods. We will come back again, thank you 😊 🙏 ❤

The pris fixee menu was an outstanding value at €50 per person. The food was delicious and beautifully presented on the plate. A generous amount of good quality wine was served with each course. The waiter poured a good amount of rum on the baba au rum dessert, and then left the bottle on the table in case anybody wanted a little more. WOW!

Yelp
Very laid back.. to be honest I don't understand why there are 1 star reviews.. great staff who are attentive.. solid quality of food in the heart of history! Great wine selections.. they keep it fairly simple..can't go wrong if you're passing through Paris and have no clue if where to go. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Nice enough staff, French and English speaking. The veal dish was enjoyed, the beef dish was not. The meat was very chewy, and both the meat and potatoes were flavorless. The meat was cooked to the proper temp but it was not rested as when it was cut into all the juices spilled out. This restaurant has a great corner location directly across from the Army Museum and The Dome. The limoncello was fine, but overall I wouldn't return.

Yelp
Service was a big issue, they were extremely rude and conceited, a bald waiter was especially rude, as he yelled at kids to move in French! Not even stopping at any to try and concile or to apologize for his actions, disrespectful!

Yelp
We came across this restaurant during our walk on a rainy day during our vacation. As soon as we walked in I can smell the food they were making and serving. Yummy. The ambiance was great. I loved the view we had when they sat us by the window. Our waiter was also patient and friendly.

Yelp
Hi! I am in Paris right now (september 19 2021) and came here. Ok! Waiters don't speak english well, you can google translate and show them. This place may not be "american" taste, simply food is very "local" oriented. If you sit here long enough, you will realize! However, service is very good! The head/chief of the server is very favorable and soooooo nice! I don't speak french at all! Also if you like the "melts in your mouth type of steak..."do not come here... go to any of other steak joint in NYC. They cook with "real cow" that runs around the field and eats whatever is available on the nature. It is not the cow we eat in the state, so meat is very muscular if you know what I mean. It will be chewy for sure! This is a great place to sit and enjoy the breeze and just relax!

Yelp
Classy little cafe that made a perfect place to relax, refresh and refuel after visiting the Invalides museums. We sat outside in the covered patio/garden area, which gave us some shelter from the June heat and a little privacy from the street. Two Aperol spritz drinks were generous and refreshing on a hot summer day. We stuck to the same plate from the specials of the day: a cold mixed meat and salad dish featuring roast chicken, roast beef, and green bean salad. The chicken leg portion was a little tough but everything else was great - it felt a bit like having a fancy picnic. We finished off sharing a bowl of three ice creams since it was too hot for anything else. Service was fine, slow but not unpleasant. Noticed that most of the other diners seemed to be locals chatting up servers who knew them, so it had the real feel of a fancy neighborhood place. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a meal after a visit to Les Invalides, if you want something fancier than the offerings on site there - and in a more relaxing environment as well.

Yelp
Love love love this little cafe. As we were on a group tour we took a break here for some coffee and a snack. The inside is so fancy and just how you would imagine a cute little French cafe to look. We stepped right up to the bar to order cafe au lait and hot chocolate and the bartender was so friendly and gladly spoke a little English. They also had pastries set out so I couldn't resist grabbing a pan chocolat as well. All together the total was about 9 euros and I would definitely say it was worth it. We were able to sit by a large window and look out at the courtyard a few feet away in some heat (it was freezing out) and quiet. I would definitely recommend you to give this bar a try if you are in the area and don't skip the coffee, it is delicious!!

Yelp
I often think that restaurants like this could be "much worse" because their view is so great. This place disproved this rule. The service is awful. The food is dreadful. I lived at number 18 ave de Breteuil so I know what I am talking about. They should be ashamed.

Yelp
TOURISTS BEWARE. My family and I visit Paris yearly- we travel often and spare no expense for food and fine dining. We went to this restaurant and had the worst experience possible. When we walked in we were greeted by a rude waitress in a black mini dress who didn't make eye contact but shuffled us to the nearest seats. She rushed us into our drinks and order with the attempt to get us in and and out as quickly as possible (but there was no one in the restaurant !). There was another waiter in the restaurant who appeared to be the opposite- actually serving the clients width a smile and attentively. We both ordered steaks-the most costly on the menu- medium rare cooked. The meal was not at all paced. The steaks came out VERY OVERCOOKED- so much it was literally impossible to cut! On top of that she refused to bring us steak knives or water. We both took two bites and decided it wasn't even worth trying to eat. After about 45 minutes of waiting for her to approach us she came to take the food with her snarling face. After I told her it was inedible she walked behind the bar and threw it in the trash and didn't say anything. We were ready to leave at this point but she wouldn't give us the bill- so we got ready to walk out. We spend over $120 and left hungry and openly disrespected. This person has apparently missed her calling. No one in the world should be treated the way we were today. Especially not in a find dining restaurant.

Yelp
Perfect for a lunch after a tour at the Invalids. Great view of the palace and close to the Eiffel Tower. I had quiche and a dry white wine (suggestion from the waiter). Everything was great. The service was on point, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely.

Yelp
I've been here twice. Le Vauban has a great view of the dome of Les Invalides near the end of what in the evening is a fairly quiet street. Not being an expert on Paris, I can't speak to the tourist level of the restaurant. I can say, however, I didn't hear any language other than French being spoken at the tables around us, for what that's worth. The menu focuses on seafood, which was what I had on both visits. I found the experience pleasant, the food good (and, coming from the Northwest, I'm pretty well versed with seafood), and found the waitstaff attentive and helpful. Their wine advice was well-considered and nicely paired. Overall it's a nice place for a fairly quiet dinner in view of the illuminated dome. Top it off with a stroll through the darkened streets of the surrounding neighborhood, and it makes for a pretty darn pleasant evening. I believe the price for two with wine and dessert was about $120 USD on my second visit and about $45 for one (probably had a little more wine than I should have) on my first. That was with an exchange rate a little north of 1.4. It would be a bit cheaper, I suspect, these days (12/2012).

Yelp
€41 menu with kir royal, entrée, plat, dessert, mineral water or wine, and coffee: 'nuff said. Well worth the trip from Montparnasse where the grandes brasseries have become touristy, average to bad in quality, and absolutely unaffordable. By contrast, the Vauban offers excellent food, a little bit on the traditional side and with large portions, but well executed, a nice view, excellent service, and the quietness afforded by the company of the retired or active diplomats and politicians from the neighbourhood. Which of course constitutes the only drawback: the 7th sucks life out of you. Nevertheless worth it if visiting the Invalides, the musée Rodin, or wanting to escape the abominable frenzy of the Montparnasse brasserie scene for a moment.

Yelp
They have a good kids menu with steak as option. Great view of Invalids across the way. Close to Eiffel Tower and comfortable. They have lunch specials and good prix fixe.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in after a visit to Musee de Armee. Prices weren't cheap, but no higher than most restaurants that we've wandered past. Our waiter was patient and entertaining. We had shrimp and duck appetizers. We both had tuna entrees. All were very good. The bread, of course, was French i.e. Outstanding. We also had a nice bottle of wine, as recommended by our waiter. No dessert; we are full.

Yelp
Our group of 25 was admirably served. Tasty food. Nice views of the final resting place of Napoleon.
