Breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi: Where the View Costs More Than the Bacon
I decided to venture to Mon Ami Gabi solo while my travel companions remained in their slumber, recovering from the previous night's escapades. The silver lining of being the only early riser? A "table for one" and what I thought would be swift seating. Spoiler alert: I was wrong. The wait wasn't egregious--about 20 minutes--but I was armed with patience and hunger.
Once seated, I embraced the Parisian brunch vibe and ordered a cappuccino served in a bowl, French toast with blueberries and whipped cream, and date-glazed bacon. Here's how it all went down:
1. The Cappuccino: Picture this--a bowl of steaming, frothy goodness. The milk-to-coffee ratio? Chef's kiss! Not only was it delicious, but it also cost less than a Starbucks grande cappuccino. Imagine, affordable luxury! Alas, this would be the last budget-friendly highlight of the morning.
2. The French Toast: Visually, it was a stunner--a golden stack adorned with blueberries and a cloud of fresh whipped cream. Taste-wise, it was good but didn't quite hit "best-ever" territory. The presentation may have promised the Eiffel Tower, but the taste was more...quaint village bakery.
3. The Bacon: The date-glazed bacon was ambitious but perhaps spent a touch too long in the oven. Still, not a total disaster--just a tad on the "well done" side of life.
4. The View & Service: Ah, the pièce de résistance! I was seated on the patio, basking in sunshine and treated to a front-row view of the Bellagio fountain show. My server was warm and attentive, which only heightened the allure of dining alfresco with Vegas glamour as my backdrop.
Final Verdict: Would I return? Maybe, but only if someone else was dying to go. It wasn't a bad experience--just one that didn't quite match its $40 price tag for a solo breakfast. Yes, I expect to pay more in Vegas . I just expected more flavor. Underwhelmed might be harsh; perhaps "politely unimpressed" is more accurate.
Would I recommend it? Yes, if you're seeking a bougie breakfast with fountain views and don't mind spending a little extra for the ambiance. For me, the best part was sipping a cappuccino and indulging in some people-watching while pondering whether this $40 breakfast was worth its weight in croissants.
Rated 4/5 because of the view, cappuccino, and service.
