Vintage - The Old Town Wine Shop

Super helpful always with any questions you may have. Great wine available for all price ranges. Very dog friendly so always a must stop on our walks. And of course the free tastings every Thursday evening are a great way to taste a bunch of unique wines (usually 4-5 per tasting featuring a different somm each week).

This charming wine shop is an amazing addition to this section of Old Town that’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the waterfront and surrounded by some of my favorite food establishments. Ben, the owner, is down to earth, genuinely friendly, and kind, which is just a plus because he’s also incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. Popping in and asking for a recommendation is like always having a sommelier at your fingertips, and without the restaurant price markup. There’s an “under $20” section that will still blow out of the water any grocery store selection for a comparable price. They offer free tastings twice a week that also give you a nice discount for anything at the tasting and each one is expertly and thoughtfully put together. I love frequenting this family-owned rockstar establishment (literally, there are guitars hanging up 😏) whenever I’m in the neighborhood. Or maybe it’s why I go to the neighborhood in the first place? In any case, it’s FANTASTIC.

This is one of my favorite places in Alexandria. A great selection of hard-to-find wines for good prices without any of the pomp or pretense. It’s fast becoming a beloved fixture of the city.

The owners know everything about wine and run memorable weekly tastings. I've learned a lot from them while they helped me adjust my palate.

Ben and the Old Town Wine store are the best. Ben is super knowledgeable, extremely friendly and accommodating! He is super helpful with wine selections. I run with a group and he has wine tastings on the same night we run. Most of the runners head over to the wine tasting! He never complains about the number of people or that we are all in running clothes post run. The store and been cannot be more open and friendly!

Best wine shop in Old Town, hands down! Ben, the owner, is always so welcoming even when I have my little ones in tow. The shop consistently features an excellent variety of wines, and the tastings are a must! I love that there are so many great options available at every price point. Highly recommended!

Great store, I’ve never seen such an amazing selection of biodynamic wine. Staff was helpful. Definitely will be back for a tasting day to learn more about wine.

Le Vintage is a wine shop that opened in Alexandria, Virginia in February 2022. It was founded by Benjamin Kuna. A trained sommelier, Kuna curated the wine program at La Fromagerie Cheese & Wine Bistro for a number of years and eventually became the general manager. He later worked as a sommelier at other area establishments like Planet Wine and Evening Star Cafe. When the storefront next to La Fromagerie became available, Kuna decided to make it his own wine shop. Kuna's mission is to make the entire world of wine accessible to everyone while supporting growers who are engaged in ethically and ecologically responsible farming and business practices. Fellow sommelier Michael Williams works as the general manager of Le Vintage, while La Fromagerie owner and chef Sebastien Tavel came on board as a partner. I recently visited Le Vintage while my family and I were on a short vacation in the DC area. Upon returning to our hotel after a long day of sight-seeing, my wife said, "I can really go for a good bottle of wine after we put the kids to bed." We checked on Yelp and lo and behold we discovered that Le Vintage was right down the street from our hotel. I walked a few blocks down and made it to the small shop. They had an excellent selection of wines as well as an impressive selection of craft beer. The shop also carries artisanal meats, cheeses and crackers for customers to assemble their own charcuterie as an accompaniment for their wine. I picked out a nice-looking bottle of Italian Rosato Frizzante to bring back for my wife and I to share. The employees also invited me to participate in a tasting that was happening in the shop (Le Vintage frequently holds tastings). Slovenian winemaker Bojan Kobal was sampling offerings from his winery Kobal Wine Estate. My wife and I really liked the wine that I brought back to the hotel. We were so impressed with the shop that I went back on our last night in town and purchased one of the Kobal wines that I had previously sampled (a sparkling yellow muscat), as well as some charcuterie items. Le Vintage is a fantastic wine shop and we'll definitely visit again the next time we're in Alexandria!

Cannot recommend Le Vint'age enough!! We stopped in to check the selection, as we love frequenting local wine shops when visiting new places. We were incredibly impressed by the selection and the owner, Ben's, knowledge of the wines and how to pair them with the cheeses and charcuterie he had in the back. We had a French Syrah with duck prosciutto and a raw milk cheese from New Hampshire - fabulous. We ended up stopping by the shop every other day during our visit to Alexandria for a new bottle to try!

Largest collection of natural/biodynamic wines I've seen in the region. Any bottle I've tried so far is excellent. Many under $20 bottles to choose from. The beer selection is dynamic and full of hard to find beer.
