Where to Eat in Oklahoma City | Bon Appétit

"“We had our third-wave coffee explosion happen before the food and bars really started. That’s me in the photo above, center, with Chef Jeremy Wolfe on my left and Chef Paul Wang on my right atLeaf + Bean(321 N Oklahoma Ave), our buddy Paul Zimmerman’s coffee shop. He’s the biggest coffee nerd you’ll meet. Beyond doing the most delicious coffee, he and his wife are the nicest people; there are no eye rolls for not knowing what to order. I’ll get a cortado and a pourover, minimum—café manager Alex McDivitt is working on one in the photo on the right—and maybe Paul will send a tea out too. He does a beautiful jasmine green tea, sourced by another company calledWoodshedin town. Let Paul take the reins—don’t order on your own.”" - ByAlyse Whitney

My brother was working/staying in Newnan. On my way out of town I needed a coffee for the long drive back to Naples, FL. I found this beautiful coffee shop with an AMAZING Cafe Cubano, a comfy chair, a yummy breakfast sandwich, and delicious sweet treat selection as well as their organically grown house roasted beans to take home with me. You WON'T be disappointed, but may wait a little while as it was very popular with the locals!

Google
What a great place! I ordered one of their specials and it was delicious! The service was great and the food looked pretty yummy too! Plenty of place to sit and an outside area. Friendly staff and reasonable pricing. Parking is eh because it's it the square. Overall I will be okay and definitely recommend to a friend!

Google
super cute spot, the ideal cozy spot to sit down and get work done. people were super nice, the food and coffee was great (the black bean wrap is so good!). i'm just bummed i found this spot a month before moving, but i will be going as often as i can until then!!

Google
Brought my sister-in-law and brother for some drinks while we walked Newnan, and it was the perfect spot! Loved the cashier. She was so nice and had a nice chat with me. The coffee is the best I've had in the area. Cozy seating and lots of socializing

Google
Great coffee with delicious food! We had a Latte and Cold Brew with the chicken salad croissant. Justin and his team are the best and certainly worth stopping in. Enjoy!

Google
crowded but only means one thing: customers are coming back for the good food and service! A laaarge variety of teas which is perfect since it was very difficult for me to find a place offering "hot tea" 😅

Google
This is a quintessential small town coffee shop. It stays relatively for the entire day, and mornings are exceptionally busy. Coffee is outstanding, both drip, as well as espresso drinks. I’ve had here twice and they are consistent and they are extremely high-quality. The lighting inside is subtle and it is comfortable and cozy. Everyone in here is willing to help it has a pleasant smile While I have never eaten any of the food, it comes highly recommended to me from several friends who live here. And there are alcoholic drinks as well for the evening and midday. Overall, I will come back mini mini times.

Google
Leaf & Bean is such a cute local coffee shop! I went mid-afternoon and was surprised at how busy it was-lots of people ordering both food and drinks, which is always a good sign. They have plenty of options to choose from and a comfortable atmosphere with lots of seating. I also noticed a small area set aside for young kids, which is a thoughtful touch for families. I ordered a matcha latte with white chocolate and toasted coconut (recommended by the barista), and it was earthy, sweet from the additions, and tasty. Highly recommend stopping in if you're nearby!

Yelp
Good spot in Historic Town. Modern coffee shop atmosphere. Good people. Parking limited. Coffee is well-made. They have children's books and games!

Yelp
Looks super cute from outside. Woman owned Small business Cute inside also- hipster and looks like something I'd see in California. Service was also that comparable to Cali c/s. There is NONE and add in a hint of attitude on top. I wasn't impressed. Food was flavorless and bread was overly mixed. Overpriced for the quality. I bake far far better. Drink was good. Wanted to love this place. Won't ever go back.

Yelp
Leaf and Bean is always a go-to for me when visiting back home. I adore local chill-vibed coffee shops with solid iced coffee, and this spot hits the mark. It sits directly on the square a few doors down from the famed Alamo and across from the courthouse. It occupies a fairly large space with a small outdoor covered patio, window/rail seating, a string of tables along with a casual and comfy seating area with oversized chairs and end tables. Over the years I have sampled a few drinks and eats, with my most recent and consistent order being a cold brew with almond milk and SF cinnamon vanilla syrup. *chefs kiss* They offer all of your standard coffee shop drinks with a mix of house created drinks. I usually stick to the basics with small modifications, always a win. Pricing is pretty standard, maybe a tiny bit pricier than other shops. Cold brew with a few add-ons will run you around $6. Food wise they offer a good variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, along with pastries and cookies. Most of the food is pre-prepared and packaged, just heated up in store. Same thing for the pastries and cookies. Honestly this is expected, and I'm not after James Beard nominated dishes. Service is hit and miss, majority of the time there are multiple baristas behind the bar that are wrapped up in conversation with each other, a bit too much to provide attentive service. The space is well kept and clean. Parking is all street, if you can't find one on the square, hit the side streets. Overall, Leaf and Bean is a vibe and I'm here for it.

Yelp
I remember eating a banana bread here like 4 years ago and it was very delectable like so amazing

Yelp
One of my favorite, hole in the wall, coffee spots in Newnan. If you're looking for a slow Sunday morning start and a reasonably priced latte Leaf and Bean is your spot! Overall, latte taste could improve, but ambiance, price and one of the best tasting cinnamon rolls help make up for it!

Yelp
I love this place. Friendly staff, great place to post up and work from. The coffee is pretty good and the food is alright as well. 100% Austin Condon approved.

Yelp
I get their expresso beans to make my coffee at home, love the taste. I've had their breakfast bowls which are tasty. They have seating outside as well but the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable.

Yelp
meh. not very good coffee. the place is pretty cute and looks like a good place to work/ study though. the pastry case looked good but I didn't have anything. I wouldn't go back for the coffee.

Yelp
Great ambience, fast service on a Sunday after church. Lots of drink options, and really unique drinks to try!

Katelyn Q.

Yelp
Got a Cafe au lait, literally my milk wasn't even steamed, DEFINITELY not even close to 155 degrees. It was barely luke warm. Drip coffee tasted like it was sitting for hours. This is my second time back in this place. The coffee is trash literal TRASH don't bother coming here. Go somewhere good like Senoia coffee, woodstone bakery in trilith. That's good coffee.

Yelp
This is a great location right of the main road in Downtown Newnan worth trying. The seating, decor, and friendly service makes it a great stop on the way to town, or back home. The lattes and tea are great and well worth going out of your way. I will be back for sure!

Yelp
This place is great. Always a staple when visiting the in-laws while in Newnan! Great service, great aesthetic/feel to the spot, and good food!

Yelp
Very friendly service, super cute coffee shop and great atmosphere. The coffee was fantastic! We got a vanilla cold brew with cream and it was great. This is our second time coming here and it was just as good as the first time!

Yelp
Great local coffee shop! Love to come here for coffee and treats. Our go to for a afternoon pick me up too. Great atmosphere. Also, nice spot for drinks at the end of the day!

Yelp
Cute lil place downtown Newnan. It feels trendy and homey simultaneously. Service is fast ad friendly. They have several coffee choices. I also.ordered a monkey bar that was really good but healthy. There are a few places to sit outside on the sidewalk and people.watch or read. I didnt ask for wifi but saw customers on their devices so it could be a place to catch up on emails or internet shop as well.
google avatar

Carolina M.

Yelp
Very cozy and welcoming ambiance. Always full of patrons enjoying their beverage, meeting friends, or staying overbook a book. Great variety of beverages and pastries, even gluten-free option (chocolate chip oatmeal bread). My child loves to come play with the toys in the back while having breakfast or brunch. The staff is always talkative and welcoming.
google avatar

Mitch E.

Yelp
The atmosphere and food are very desirable. The service is lacking and random people on their computers take over all the tables. If you want to eat, be very pensive. So much more potential, but I will continue to support them.

Yelp
Pretty good! The shop itself is very cute and there's tons of seating inside and a few tables outside. The employees were very sweet and my drink came out fast. I got the bourbon brown sugar latte iced, it was okay but didn't have a ton of flavor in all honesty. Not overly sweet at all, but not remarkable by any standard. I also tried a brownie. I was asked if I wanted it warmed, and I said yes, but I do wish they'd told me it was just going in a microwave to be warmed up and not a convection oven or the like. The middle got very hot, and it sort of gave it that "burnt" taste chocolate gets in the microwave. It was a cake-y brownie rather than a fudgey one, but it was pretty good. Overall it's nice that Newnan has an independent coffee shop, with plenty of food options and a lounge in the evenings!

Yelp
Walk in from couple of blocks away because parking is difficult to get close but not that far to walk. When I arrived it was busy little bit of a line but it moved quickly, was greeted with what can I get started for you not hi how are you or a smile.. staff was not as friendly as I expected or would like but maybe because it was busy...I liked the atmosphere and there was plenty of room to sit which I liked.. when my coffee was ready she yelled my name but didn't look for me so I had to walk to the end of the counter not greeted which would be nice.. the coffee was hot and delicious, I also got the chocolate chip cookie and peanut butter cookie both are fantastic! Over all good experience but could have been great..prices seem on par with other coffee shops, hope to see more friendly experience next time I come back.

Yelp
The coffee house has quite a bit to choose from on their flavors. They offer pastries and even ice cream. I wasn't impressed with how they handled the mask situation though. After we ordered, we sat down and got our food in a few minutes after it was prepared. Two slices of banana bread, two scoops of ice cream, and one pumpkin frappuccino was what we got for a quick bite and a sip. It was ok and did the job before we headed out of there. The staff was quick to get out orders and the friendly service didn't outbeat the fact they weren't masks. Everybody feels differently about the coronavirus and to each their own. When I went in the coffee house and saw that none of the staff members were wearing a mask, it made me question getting anything from here. Since my father-in-law was with us, he ended up paying for it and I didn't oppose to that fact. I just don't understand why businesses are doing that when there is a pandemic going on. Is it because there isn't a virus out there that could potentially put someone at a deadly risk? There was even customers not wearing a mask and it makes me think if they know of anybody that has been affected by this virus or they just don't care. When you get staff members that are making and giving out items not wearing the mask while being exposed to customers who may or may not being wearing one as well, it doesn't seem to bother them that the virus isn't going to get under control that way. I will not go there again, even if I was in the area or not.

Yelp
I'm so sad this place isn't closer to where I live! I live a couple of hours away now but I grew up on this side of town and still have family here, so I'm in Newnan pretty frequently. During a girls shopping trip, we stopped by here and the coffee was SO GOOD! I'm kind of a coffee snob - no Sbux or Dunkin', thankyouverymuch. This was a fresh, great, quality coffee and roast. The inside is roomy and comfortable and beautiful. And the service was great and pretty quick, despite a lengthy line at the time. I'm just sad that I'm not within distance to just come hang out here with my laptop any given day of the week because if I were, I'd be here frequently!

Yelp
Great vibe inside with warm employees and good food, and music. A little taste of a LA coffee shop in the south.

Peggy W.

Yelp
Only reason not to give a 5 star was after waiting quite a awhile for my sandwich, I was told they had given it away. I have waited for food longer than usual before but when I checked on it they told me my name had been called. I was unaware of my name being called and they didn't search for me. However, they made the sandwich again quickly. The staff person who told me my name had been called was not courteous. As always, they make one of the best dirty chai lattes. I would hope the serving staff improves their routine.

Yelp
My wife and I love the place! The coffee is awesome, and the freshly made breakfast dishes are a favorite for sure. The ambience is inviting and refreshing, and we just wish it was open until 8 PM instead of 7 PM :-)
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely great local coffee spot. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming! We love to sit in the variety of spots they have inside, makes you feel like you're on the shows friends haha. The bites and sweet are a perfect pairing too, to their wide variety of specialty drinks. P.S - They always have a great spot for late night dessert martinis... yummmm
google avatar

Yelp
I love this coffee shop! The workers are so friendly, and the place is such a vibe! I get the chai latte and it's delicious

Yelp
We used to go into this place every couple of weeks to get a couple brownies BUT this last time we were there instead of putting the two brownies into a plastic container like they usual do; they threw the two brownies into a paper bag and our brownies crumbled. We asked for a container (like we always got before) and the girl says they no longer place pastry in containers only in paper bags. There were containers right on the counter shelf but she refused to use them for us...she gave us BAD attitude. We left with our bag of crumbled brownies and will never go back Again!! Poor poor service attitude from the staff in charge!! They lost a recurring customer bc of it!

K S.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shoppe in Newnan. The food is always fresh, especially the baked goods and the coffee is perfect. No creamer needed. You could not ask for a better vibe as the locals come in and share stories and talk business. No need to look any further! Come in and have a drink and meet with a bunch of awesome people. I consider this my 2nd home when in Newnan as it rates up with my favorite coffee shoppe in Pompano Beach, FL. See y'all soon, Kenny

Yelp
Almost always busy but never a long wait. The staff is incredibly friendly. The selection of food and drinks is wide and will surprise you. The room is usually packed with a range of ages and is rarely loud. My only disappointment is the standing room when waiting for your order. Just a bit tight and awkward. Still not a deterrent though. Love this place!

Yelp
Love Leaf and Bean! They have great coffee if you like coffee(not a fan myself but my husband loves it). I love the iced chai latte hands down my favorite . The quiche is yummy and a really bit portion. I love that they have board games and sofa area. They have a great spot if you work from home and need to get out of the office . It reminds me a lot of the Coffee Shop /Cafe in this hallmark show Good Witch and the owner even looks like the actress lol. Great small town spot.
google avatar

Dena C.

Yelp
The place is adorable. They have vegan options for food and coffee creamers. The ambiance is great and the service was just ok. Would still recommend if you are in the area. Beats Starbucks and Dunkin' any day.

Yelp
I can't say I'm a very big fan of the owner since she has just walked away never to return as I stepped up to order... twice. One of the two times she looked up as I was about to begin my order and said "oh, my friend is here to go walking" and simply walked away, and out of the front door. No sorry, no, no let me get someone else to help you. Luckily for her, the staff here is much nicer and much more helpful. Unlike the owner, they act like they appreciate your business. I can't say I'm too impressed with the frequent use of a microwave oven but the muffins and other breakfast items are pretty good. As far as the coffee goes it's always good. My favorite is the Copa Cubana but be prepared to shake for the next ten hours if you drink one.
google avatar

Andria L.

Yelp
The food was okay, but everything was a bit pricey for what it was. I ordered the hummus wrap with a side of fruit and a small tea. My husband got a grilled cheese with a side of fruit and a large apple cider. He wasn't thrilled and he complained that the grapes were "mushy" (I ate them anyway, I think he was being a baby). The service was excellent thought and the cafe itself was clean and had a very unique atmosphere!

Yelp
Updated 3/28/19: Much better experience today. Selva Negra coffee from Nicaragua is awesome as always. Highly recommend! Service was quick and efficient. Breakfast sandwich with cheese and turkey bacon (not sure that ingredient really qualifies as "bacon", but that's another story) on white toast was tasty but I wish they had offered to cut it in half for easier eating. It's a good sized sandwich and hits the spot. They have added benches along the inside front wall for the tables near the entrance but don't plan on accessing any outlets here unless you like getting on all fours on the floor. Outlets are underneath the benches along the wall on the baseboard. Hopefully that will be resolved in the near future. Opt for the tables in the back half but watch out for the "daycare" station in the very back. Previous review: I like this place, but was just grossed out. One of the employees handled a dirty dish towel used to wipe up water on the floor spilled by some kid and then proceeded to immediately fill drink and food orders. Yuk! An awful lot of non-work appropriate chit chat from employees as well. I mean, if the F-bomb is part of your normal conversation dialogue.... Disappointed!
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
A quintessential local coffee house. Their breakfast menu was limited, but great. My daughter got a breakfast sandwich with scrambled egg on croissant, I got a fried egg on biscuit and my husband got one of their quiches. Eggs cooked 3 different ways, and all excellent. We also ordered desserts from the case and the red velvet chocolate chip cookie was a stand out. I don't drink coffee, by my husband says it was good coffee. We sat against the bar table facing the window and enjoyed the small town life passing by. I take away a star because the staff behind the counter were not wearing masks, and we visited in mid November, as the numbers are increasing.

Yelp
Love this little coffee shop in downtown Newnan! I was told about this place from a family friend and I think I've found my new hangout joint. I love seeing local places using sustainable resources for their foods and drinks. Their coffee was smooth and though I didn't try any of the food/pastries my dad was very happy with his ice cream. Additionally, it's a great place to get work done and they have a large number of tables where you (and a friend) can be productive. Otherwise, the environment is also conducive to conversation and just general hang outs.
google avatar

Ross M.

Yelp
Excellent customer service. Busy as you can get for the Christmas parade line out the door which always seemed to be moving and customer service never went down would highly recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
Good cafe. Frappe was tasty. GLUTEN FREE bun was amazing for the tuna salad sandwich. They offer daily specials. It's Monday and they are out of the chicken salad special by 12:30. The side of fruit was visually MOLDY. I showed the staff and she gave me a banana. The orange slices tasted as though they are going bad. NOT COOL. The cafe is super comfy although the music is TOO LOUD for the space.
google avatar

Dennis P.

Yelp
In the past had only gone for morning coffee. We decided to go Friday night on a whim for a bite to eat and some drinks. We were delighted to find live jazz playing and the atmosphere was awesome. The food was a delight as well! 5 stars but deserve 10!
google avatar

S W.

Yelp
Really delicious food and friendly staff. One of them not wearing a mask and most customers do not wear masks. Otherwise I would've given it five stars.
google avatar

Megan P.

Yelp
What a cute place! One of the coolest looking coffee shops I've been to. I was impressed with their food selections, as I thought it was a place that only served coffee. I had the coffee ice cream and cheese danish, both of which were great. I wish I lived closer; I would come all the time. It seems like a great place to sit down and get schoolwork done while enjoying a nice latte.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
amazing place!!!! Everyone is so kind. They always NEVER fail to make me feel welcomed. 10/10
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
If you need to get work done, this place is pretty dead except for on weekends and maybe around lunchtime when it's more noisy. The wifi is free, and you don't need a password. I do like that this place uses some organic ingredients, but VERY few of the food items are actually made in house, and most of the items at the counter are pre-packaged. It's kinda overpriced (average $5 for a specialty drink), but keep in mind that you will be charged extra for things and not be told. The owner is also very rude, and when a guest has an issue, she gets defensive instead of trying to make things right. The only things worthwhile here are the baked oatmeal and the baristas! I'd suggest checking out Criss Bakery instead, if you like coffee/pastries and are looking for something local.

Dan R.

Yelp
Good coffee, food and people. I'm here a couple times a week. A better alternative to national brand coffee shops.

Yelp
Service Selection Enviro Consciousness Coffee Spinach Feta Quiche - bland no flavor taste underwhelming

Yelp
Always a great place to enjoy coffee, meet family/friends, or just enjoy chillin'! Leaf and Bean has an assortment of coffees, teas, pastries, and sandwiches. Just across the street from the historic courthouse.
google avatar

Ayanna D.

Yelp
This is without a doubt my favorite coffee place in all of Newnan. The service is always fast unless they are really busy. I love the atmosphere, the decor, just the entire being of leaf and bean! I normally get caramel macchiato, iced or hot. It's absolutely amazing! I've also purchased a bag of their dark roast coffee to take home, which was worth every cent. It is whole bean, so luckily i had a coffee grinder put up some where that i couldn't remember why i bought. Whether you're from out of town or a local, definitely visit Leaf and Bean! Who needs starbucks?
google avatar

Gaby N.

Yelp
My new coffee spot in Newnan. They have a variety of flavors, and I'm allergic to milk so they had plenty of options and suggestions for me. My boyfriend and I also decided to eat a little breakfast. Portions are small but food comes out hot and delicious. We had the egg bowl and we able to personalize to problem. Definitely a coffee spot comparable to Starbucks-- minus the drive thru. If you want that homie, and family-friendly vibe they definitely offer that.

Karen G.

Yelp
amazing place, atmosphere, food, drinks...right on point. I'm able to relax, have meetings there, work there or just come on a weekend and grab a glass of wine.
