The 21 Essential Restaurants in Boulder, Colorado

"This iconic Boulder vegetarian restaurant transforms faves like calamari and bibimbap into vegan or vegetarian treats. Think ceviche made with jackfruit in lieu of seafood, along with tomato, red onion, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, and avocado crema. The Jamaican jerk is made with tempeh instead of chicken and served with red rice, coconut plantain sauce, sauteed greens, and fruit salsa. With an airy, sun-filled dining room, Leaf stands out above the rest of Boulder’s vegetable-focused restaurants by sourcing its produce from its own farm, Three Leaf Farm in nearby Lafayette." - Rebecca Treon, Josie Sexton, Ruth Tobias, Nisa Sedaghat

Leaf is a charming, pure vegetarian restaurant in Boulder that focuses on fresh ingredients and a diverse menu. It is a small, quaint cafe with a comfy and inviting vibe, making it a great spot for a relaxed meal. We started with the Wild Mushroom Arancini, which had a wonderfully creamy texture, with deep, earthy flavors from the mushrooms, making for a rich and satisfying bite. The Yaki Onigiri, however, didn’t quite hit the mark. The Kale Salad with Harissa Tofu was a refreshing dish, offering a nice balance of textures and flavors. The tofu had a good spice level from the harissa, and the kale provided a hearty, nutritious base. Moving on to the mains, the Thai Green Curry was well-balanced in flavor, with a creamy, fragrant broth. However, the Spaghetti that came with it, felt a bit dry.The Orange Cauliflower was not so good, the flavors were all over the place, with the rice and base being overly salty. On the bright side, the drinks were enjoyable, and the meal ended on a high note with the Carrot Cake. The dessert was moist, spiced just right, and topped with a luscious frosting. Leaf is a solid spot, but some dishes did feel underwhelming. The portion sizes are generous, making it a good value overall. If you are looking for a creative vegetarian meal with a lovely vibe, it’s worth a visit.

Google
The concept of an entirely-vegan restaurant sounded like a dream when we found this place online as soon as we landed in Colorado. This is the best restaurant I have been to, vegan or not. Ambiance is incredibly aesthetic yet not overdone. Service was incredibly fast and kind, and they took the time to explain the dishes. No food was left on the table when we were done. 100% recommend.

Google
Amazing vegetarian good!! We went on a day they were starting new menu items and they were incredible. Fresh ingredients and cool, unique, delicious plates. The cauliflower tacos were some of the best tacos i’ve had (I don’t even like cauliflower!) The ambiance is lovely and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely go again when in Boulder!

Google
Outstanding food and service. Stopped in after the Boulder Film Festival. We took advantage of the happy hour options and ordered the Mushroom Calamari, Cauliflower Tacos, Mushroom burger slider, Crabcake Slider, and Kale salad. All were delicious. Food timing was well spaced and food was fresh. Outstanding flavor. Loved all of it! We then shared the Jamaican Jerk Tempeh. The presentation was lovely and the coconut sauce was more than I expected. Nice spice and excellent flavor combination. Finished with the Mezcal chocolate cake. Wow! Superb. Nice cake, not too dense, very moist, and the coconut cream was the perfect pairing. We left with full bellies and would definitely come back. Excellent service by Elizabeth. She was very friendly and attentive. Outstanding dinner experience!

Google
The food was good, but they didn't have what we wanted on 2 different occasions (and we only went twice) the Jamaican jerk Tempeh was a bit much in flavor, but not in amount. Definitely left hungry. The Tuscan garden I didn't get a pic of but that was probably my favorite.

Google
Wonderful atmosphere and the service was great. The food was delicious, I let them order for me and had the peach old fashioned, calamari (?) mushrooms, mushroom burger, and side salad. Servings were large, I didn’t eat all day and had to take some to go.

Google
The food is really great with very interesting selections. Nice spot to reflect and relax in the late afternoon. And the atmosphere was perfect, not too big, not too noisy. A nice place to wind down.

Google
Really liked this place. This food was delicious and creative with some nice drink options. Ended up sitting at the bar and having a good time eating and chatting with my partner and the bartender a bit.

Yelp
[Note: I only post reviews if the business earns 5 stars or 1 star.] On a 4-day weekend in Boulder, the food, service, and ambience were so enjoyable that we ate here 4 times. We tried a variety of appetizers, entrées, and desserts, all of which were fantastic (bruschetta, risotto, orange cauliflower, mango crème broulee, cheesecake...). The blueberry lavender fizz drinks are so good the 4 of us ordered 12 on our last night (ask Autumn to make them). And we ate so many calamari mushrooms over the four days (8 plates) that they ran out. Autumn and Elizabeth waited on us a total of three times and were friendly, informative and fun without a hint of kissing up to get a large tip. They were both gems who made us feel like locals. And kudos to the chefs for their exceptional flavors and presentation with delicious dishes that leave you healthy and immensely satisfied.

Yelp
Based on one visit only, I wouldn't go back because the food was mediocre and the service even worse. The service was so so bad. Comically bad. For one, our server completely forgot to put in my appetizer (a soup), and then it took her so long to come check on us that I had almost finished my entree. She didn't even apologize, just said, "Oh I thought I put that in!" in a ditzy voice. Observing the other tables, she seemed to regularly forget things that people asked for, and she would disappear for so long that we wondered if she had gone on break at one point. We gave up on dessert because we sat long enough to change our minds twice. The restaurant was not especially busy, and she wasn't the only server, so I am not sure of the issue. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. I ordered biscuits and gravy from the brunch menu, and they were too salty and also lukewarm on arrival, making them cold in a short time. My friend had a kale salad, which was fine but at least didn't need to be warmed. I can't speak to appetizers or desserts because our server ensured we didn't have either!

Yelp
Leaf is a well-located vegetarian restaurant located right off Pearl Street Mall. The restaurant has a great ambiance, decent service, and a small menu with mostly plant-based choices. I am not a vegetarian but an omnivore who likes the occasional vegan or vegetarian meal -- so keep that in mind during this review. My party started with Jackfruit Adobada Nachos, Calamari Style Oyster Mushroom, and Bruschetta. These appetizers were delicious, especially the mushroom calamari. It was honestly surprising how tasty these vegetarian small plates could be! We also were offered a complimentary bread basket, which was just as yummy. Things changed however once we got to the main courses. As a group, we ordered the mushroom burger, tofu bibimbap, and Jamaican jerk tempeh. The main dishes just did not live up to the expectations left by the small plates. The food was fine, it was edible but nothing special. These tasted like what you would expect for vegetarian options. For those who strictly abide by a vegetarian diet, these dishes may offer variety and novelty. But for those who eat meat like myself, these main courses were a poor imitation of meaty meals. Overall, this is a great spot for appetizers and drinks, located in an even better location. However, this just leads to expensive plates of veggies that leave you wanting a little more -- that's Boulder for you. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, I'd highly recommend this restaurant. For meat eaters like myself, this probably won't be on my radar any time soon, but I am glad I tried it.

Yelp
The food is tasty but a bit on the pricey side. It is located in the upscale pearl street of boulder, co. Service was great and food was punctual The reason why I did not rate it 5 stars instead of 4 was for the sole reason of lacking creativity. Vegan food requires that to make it a 5 star experience since all you're eating is legumes and veggies
google avatar

Michelle E.

Yelp
Another 5 star lunch at Leaf! Amazing vegetarian options and Kombucha. The sweet potato fries were AMAZING! Salty, crispy goodness. I eat here every time I'm in the Boulder area and it's always spot-on!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! The chai lattes were perfect! I got the vegan BLT and my sister got the breakfast burrito and they were both delicious. The vegan bacon was made so well- it wasn't too tough like a lot of vegan meats. The breakfast burrito was so big that we had a meal for breakfast and lunch. Definitely will be coming back next time I'm up in Boulder.

Yelp
What a wonderful spot for some flavorful and unique vegetarian food! So many great choices and everyone in our party loved what they ordered. Also great NA drink options. The service was great and it's a pretty spacious place. We came during the week for lunch and it wasn't very busy. Highly recommend!

Yelp
A disappointment. The dishes tasted retro vegetarian, reminding me of plain vegetarian fare I tried a few decades ago. SERVICE: 2.5. The waiter was reasonably efficient, lacking both a smile and warmth. He seemed irritated. The person who seated us was friendly. AMBIANCE: 3.0. Would have been helpful to have shades on the windows to block the afternoon sun. FOOD: 3.0. Retro vegetarian plain dishes. - Calamari Style Oyster Mushrooms (appetizer): 5.0. Excellent. - Thai Green Curry: 2.0. Plain and dissappointing. - Jamaican Jerk Tempeh: 2.0. Plain and dissappointing. We noticed that the couple dining next to us didn't even finish half their main dishes before departing.

Yelp
A really cute spot to grab a healthy and meat free meal without being obvious that there isn't any meat. I got the vegan crab cake, and while it didn't taste much like crab cake, it was still delicious and so filling. The bread was soft and hit the spot, there was a good amount of sauce, and the meat substitute (I think it was tempeh) was so savory and delicious. And I love that it comes with a salad. My friends got the harvest bowl and they weren't as happy with their choice. I think Leaf would have been better off labeling this as a salad rather than a bowl, because my friends expected it to be warm but everything was cold. But salad would also usually require some sort of dressing and there wasn't really any sauce or flavoring.

Yelp
Big space inside and outdoor patio that allows dogs. Happy hour have limited menu for food. Service was fast. Mocktails are great. Spicy thai - 5/5 Mocktail gin and ginger - 4.5/5 Oyster dish - 4/5 - lacks little seasoning ow very creative Leaf plate - 3/5- liked pita and hummus. the rest of the dish was not that great Mushroom and crab sliders - 4.5/5 - really enjoyed them. good bite size. Jackfruit nachos - 4/5 - nacho chips were not good at first. So they prepared again the same dish for us which was good.

Yelp
This is a good place to go as a vegetarian or vegan in Boulder but maybe not gluten free. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait. I have tried to come previously on a weekend night and they had a 45 minute wait so their busyness is quite varied. I am gluten free and vegetarian and they had quite a few options for me. Me and my partner ended up splitting the caprese sandwich with gf bread and their huevos rancheros. The caprese had good fillings and they use strawberry instead of tomato which I loved. The gluten free bread though was pretty terrible. I have had a wide swath of gf bread and this one really didn't hold its own. It was dry, crumbly, and lacked flavor. The fries were good and so was the ketchup which is saying something as I usually hate ketchup. The huevos rancheros was similarly good but not great. They served the tortillas within the pile of beans and pico and eggs/tofu. This meant it was more like eating a veggie burrito bowl with bites of corn tortilla in it which wasn't my favorite, and isn't what I expect for huevos rancheros. The tea is exceptional though, no notes. The server was very nice and attentive, the decor was great, and the ambiance was nice.

Yelp
Leaf was the first restaurant my partner and I visited in Boulder upon our move to Denver. Overall it was a very pleasant experience! We arrived at 5pm, happy hour timeframe, on a Saturday evening and were happy to find plenty of space in the restaurant. We were quickly seated to a comfortable table with comforting decor all around. To get started, we ordered multiple cauliflower tacos and the Leaf Plate from the happy hour menu. The leaf plate was a selection of some vegetarian classics (hummus, babaganoush, and chutney) all in the same dish. It was quite well-done and I was impressed by the restaurant's variety of vegetarian spreads. The cauliflower taco was good, but I will admit that we both expected a few more toppings or a more complex flavor profile. As an entree, I ordered the Jamaican Jerk Tempeh. I was impressed by the dish because it included plantain sauce, a red rice/tempeh cake, and fruit salsa, and each of these three elements appeared to be time-intensive to prepare. It was also tasty, although I did struggle to finish since I can't handle spicy food very well. For spicy food lovers, this dish is for you!

Yelp
Every time I go to Leaf, it's enjoyable. I went to dinner with a friend and we sat outside. Their patio is cute with nice lights and it's a quiet enough part of Pearl that it's perfect to have a relaxing dinner. Our server was super nice and even though we were there on the late side, he didn't rush us at all which continued the chill vibe. The food was awesome, it always is and they flavor combos are fantastic. Really you can't go wrong. The first thing we tried to order, they were out of, but our server was apologetic and I already wanted to try so many things that it wasn't even disappointing to have to choose a "backup". We had the tempura mushrooms which were fantastic. The Jamaican jerk was also good, but probably not something I'll get again (there's so many other things to try). The orange cauliflower was super good!! I'll definitely back...and back again!
google avatar

Paul W.

Yelp
The best vegan food I've ever had. I'm not a vegan but I've gone to several vegan restaurants. This was so flavorful that I can't imagine anyone not enjoying their dinner. The service was excellent and atmosphere was very bright and nice. My only issue was the heat through the windows was cooking the side of my face. It made staying longer unbearable. My tip is to get reservations away from the window.

Yelp
Awesome brunch spot in vibey Boulder. Stopped here for brunch after a hike. The ambiance is refreshing and calming with all the plant decor. Its an all vegetarian restaurant. I tried the vegan pastry of the day - Apple pie crumble. It was perfect pastry! Not too sweet, melts in the mouth. This was my favorite. Also tried the biscuits & gravy, Banh min sandwich, Omelette , Quinoa bowl and Mushroom burger. The mushroom burger was really good ! The portion size is big and filling. The staff are friendly, professional and quick.

Yelp
Leaf is a cute vegetarian restaurant located in downtown Boulder. It offers an all vegetarian menu with additional vegan options, cocktails, beer, and wine. The decor is very inviting with a chic, boho feel and lots of plants! We had a reservation for 6:30PM but showed up about 30 minutes early and the restaurant was able to accommodate us right away. The menu offers a wide variety of vegetarian options including small plates, entrees, and desserts. I ordered the orange cauliflower - lightly battered cauliflower tossed in an orange sauce and served over a rice medley with carrots and broccoli. It was very tasty with a slight floral aftertaste, and it was actually quite filling with a substantial serving size. Also, the free focaccia bread was insane! We liked it so much that we made my brother-in-law ask for another basket. Our server was a little standoffish. He did answer all of our questions about the menu, he just didn't seem happy to be doing it. All in all, I would definitely recommend Leaf and will return on my next trip to Boulder. Note: If you don't want to pay for parking, you can park behind the restaurant on residential streets.

Jill M.

Yelp
Don't go! Greasy tasteless food, overpriced and bad service! Wish we had better options in Boulder
google avatar

Sonal G.

Yelp
I came to Leaf for happy hour with my sister while visiting the area. As vegetarians, we are always quite limited on what to order at restaurants so it is always fun being about to eat the whole menu! Happy hour was great as we could try a small portion of everything! We got the mushroom slider - savory and delicious, umami, it was everything. We had the tempeh slider - I'm not usually a big tempeh person so the texture is always weird to me but very flavorful. The oyster mushroom calamari are soooo good - highly recommend. For drinks I had the blueberry fizz mock tail that was super tasty. Honestly we liked that more than the actual cocktails! Such a nice ambience with nice big windows and lots of plants, just up my alley. Highly recommend a visit, even if you're not vegetarian!
google avatar

Grace K.

Yelp
I would give Leaf a 3.5 if yelp gave that option. In our party, 2 people had the reuben, one person had the mushroom burger and soup, we had one harvest bowls and 2 kids breakfasts. Everything was okay, but definitely nobody was that excited about their meal. I probably wouldn't go back, which is unfortunate because I always love to try restaurants with vegan options.
google avatar

Josh N.

Yelp
This might be just be one of my favorite restaurants now!! The vegetable forward menu hit the spot. Everything is so fresh and delicious, amazing flavors! The service was extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. The decor is very cozy and comforting. The Leaf plate was just awesome. I really want to get back here soon, on the list for sure the next time I'm in Boulder. They also have tons of gluten free options which worked very well for my wife.

Rags S.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. I like to support vegan friendly places. I been vegan for a long while and I want more options for vegans. But this place is not it. The menu is all over the place with no theme other than vegetarian/vegan. How can they make Korean, Thai, etc etc and think they will get it right? Overall they missed flavors all around. I recommend you skip this and instead pick places that have 1-2 vegan options. We ordered the mushroom calamari (I had similar dish at Crosseoads Kitchen a vegan place). Here is fried like tempura and beans unseasoned or under seasoned. The dipping is sauce from bottle than something home made. The leaf plate is so sad. The naan is nonsense. I have had baba ghnouj is so many places this place has the worst and I can't even call it bg. There is no seasoning, no evoo, no acid, and the texture is like a thick blob. I make better bg when I follow recipe. The hummus is same with no hint of tahini. The pickled vegetables that came with leaf plate were over dressed in vinegar. The pad Thai is wrong in so many ways. The noodles are thin noodles and the vegetables and sauce and noodle all were unmixed. The sauce flavor is no where near pad Thai. This place should learn what is flavor, learn about acid, hear, umami, salt.
google avatar

Magda C.

Yelp
Flavors are there, presentation is nice, service is great, but this dish was way too spicy without any mention of it.
google avatar

Tammie G.

Yelp
We came into town for a quick stop and wanted something healthy to sip on while we walked the town shops. Leaf for the bull. The matcha lemonade was great. Made fresh while we waited and was reasonably priced as well. Although I'm not vegetarian (and even struggle to eat my veggies!) the menu looked enticing and I will check it out when back in the area for a meal

Shantelle B.

Yelp
This was quite honestly the worst vegan experience I've ever had. The place was severely understaffed. No bartender. We waited 1 hr for drinks and waters. The food was mediocre at best. All of our vegetables were uncooked. The broccoli was raw in the macaroni. We didn't even get one of our kids meals because our waitress forgot that we had 2 kids with us. She also asked us if we wanted desert before we even had more than one meal. We got one meal per 10 mins. The bacon blt was plain and dry. The green curry had no flavor and all the vegetables were raw and like a salad. Definitely don't recommend. Truly a sad review because the place could be so much better with the vibes and open air.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere & food is incredible! I had oyster mushroom calamari & mushroom burger topped with a strawberry spritzer. The calamari was lightly fried and sauces were great. The burger was so good! Highly recommend!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down one of the best vegetarian/vegan friendly restaurants in Boulder. It has a very creative menu, not the same things that you find at pretty much all vegan restaurants. It's has a very cozy and chic ambience. The staff is quite friendly and nice. This restaurant can get busy during peak season and peak hours, so plan or reserve in advance. I highly recommend the dessert. Everything we tried here was delicious, I particularly enjoyed the Reuben sandwich.
google avatar

Naquiyah C.

Yelp
I am not a vegetarian but my friends were so wanted to give this place a try. I will be honest I did not miss the no meat aspect off it all. The calamari mushroom was different but that sauce was just WOW. Should totally be packaged and sold. Loved it! My fav dish would have had to the be the beets linguine. It was different but creamy and delicious. Not to heavy Taking one star as the tiramisu cream was a little too thick and a lot of the food would have done better with a tad bit more salt just to uplift the citrus flavors in the dishes But all in all I totally recommend giving it a try :)
google avatar

Tammi S.

Yelp
Though the menu is all over the place the vegan selection was pretty good and the food was absolutely fantastic! They have an amazing vegan curry and cauliflower soup. Cheesecake is out of this world and now a favorite of all of my co workers. The drink menu is unparalleled! Make sure to ask if you have allergies or can't have salt or sugar. The menu isn't clean. Service was impeccable!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice ambiance, wooden and earthy. Delicious entrees (go for the mushroom calamari! It's to fight over) and the staff were super graceful during happy hour. I'm going to be going back!

Yelp
Delicious vegan mushroom burger ! Thank you for offering plant-based options! I was tempted by the vegan desserts but restrained myself. Next time !

Yelp
Came for happy hour on Sunday, got seated immediately, and service was good. It's cute inside and decorated nicely, and given it wasn't busy when we went, it was a nice place to be on a rainy Sunday. Tried five happy hour "small plates": - Buffalo Cauliflower Taco - Crab Cake Slider w/ Mix fries (sweet & russet) - Spicy Garlic Noodle - Calamari Style Oyster Mushrooms - Bruschetta Value for price was good for a restaurant on Pearl St, we were surprised by the amount of food on each small plate. For two people, these five items definitely filled us up. As for the quality, we were pretty underwhelmed by every dish except the crab cake slider which was tasty but not amazing. We realized we had picked 4/5 plates with fried items, all of which were super oily. The taco was alright, the cauliflower was crispy but pretty much flavorless, and the vegan bleu cheese was kinda lame. The vegan crab cake was great, and our favorite of the five plates. I'd come back for that. Coulda used a little more of the tartar sauce though. The Spicy Garlic noodles tasted great, but like everything else was really oily. The oyster mushrooms were probably the most disappointing. They were soaking with oil and pretty much flavorless without the sweet and sour sauce they came with. The bruschetta was also really good, but they drizzled so much oil over it that the arugula the bruschetta was sitting on was swimming in it.

Emily W.

Yelp
The mushroom appetizer was the best mushroom dish I have ever had in my life. Also, we got the pad Thai and curry entrees. All delicious. Planning to go back on next trip.

Yelp
A gorgeous restaurant - perfect for a meet up with friends, a date, or family gathering! Gluten free and vegan friendly as well. Highly recommend the happy hour deal especially for the small bites. I'm he service was amazing and helped my friend and I choose some delicious choices: - mushroom burger and fries (5/5 stars) - Buffalo cauliflower tacos (3/5 stars) - oyster mushroom calamari (4/5 stars)

Yelp
I love Leaf! What a fantastic place to visit when you're in Boulder! Taking guests here is a real pleasure when they're in town. They have everything you could want in an fun vegetarian restaurant. From the appetizers to the interesting entrees, there's something for everyone! We love the Cauliflower bites, the Reuben sandwich and most everything else. It's a must try when your in town. They have nice outdoor seating along the sidewalk, and plenty of room inside. Love all of Boulder's vegetarian options!

Yelp
We went to visit Boulder for the weekend and found this absolute gem of a restaurant. The restaurant was slammed it was so busy and the staff remained happy, positive, and calm. The restaurant is light and airy with a very clean and refreshing energy. We started with the Beet Bruschetta- which was incredible. The tofu ricotta was creamy and paired perfectly with the diced beets. I do wish the bruschetta was bigger because I would eat that as an entree it was so delicious and well balanced. For my main course I had the udon noodles. The broth was savory and had the perfect amount of saltiness to it. The mushrooms were cooked well and the ingredients came together so effortlessly. My fiance got the bimbimbap and scraped his plate clean he enjoyed it so much! We ended the meal with the carrot cake and a "naughty chai". The frosting tasted rich and very much like a cream cheese frosting. The syrup on the top of the cake was delicious and there were candied walnuts as a topper. The naughty chai was very good and very strong. It was a hot oat milk chai with coffee liqueur. I had no negatives after this meal and would definitely go back. I do recommend making a reservation as it is very popular !

Yelp
My daughter and I went to Leaf for a goodbye lunch before she heads to Spain to study the next four months. It was absolutely the perfect place to celebrate! The ambiance, the service, and the food were all 5 star. The ambiance: lovely plants and vines that made the place come alive without being too dense. The garage doors and view of the falling snow while sitting among green plants was lovely. Our server, Elizabeth, (I think) was friendly and knew the menu very well. She even labeled our to go boxes and drew leaves on them. She didn't rush us and our water glasses were never empty. The food: we shared a cup of tomato vegetable soup and got two drinks right away. They serve Boulder Teahouse Chai which is a favorite of ours. I decided to really celebrate the day and ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio. My daughter found the Egg Croissant to be perfectly cooked with vegan sausage and avocado. I had the naan flatbread with grilled onion, mushroom and sun dried tomato and it was delicious. The sun dried tomato wasn't too overwhelming but stole the show at the same time. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
It's been a while since we ate at Leaf so last weekend we stopped in for an early dinner. The food was fantastic and the service was prompt and pleasant. You must try the buffalo cauliflower taco's - exceptional.

Yelp
Every thing is delightful. I try every soup they have. A great place to have a business lunch or time to yourself, eating at the bar and reading something good. Yum!

Yelp
Very good vegetarian food on Pearl Street. The "pastrami" sandwich was good, and we chose seitan (instead of tempeh) for a less dense texture. It was just like a pastrami sandwich otherwise, with cheese, thousand island dressing, sauerkraut, on toasted buttery rye bread and served warm. You get a choice of a side with the sandwich (soup, salad or fries), so we chose the daily special soup which was a delicious tomato basil. It paired well with the sandwich and the soup was topped with croutons. We also got a salad that had lots of curly kale, farro, beets, pumpkin seeds, and fruit consisting of grilled orange slices, strawberries & a few blueberries and lightly dressed. For beverages, the grapefruit juice was good and not tart. The blackberry spritz was refreshing. Nice place with windows that open up to a nice patio dining area.

Yelp
I came here for my 21st birthday and overall it was an enjoyable experience. As a vegan I appreciated the meat free menu and began with the three leaf appetizer platter. I was expecting a bit more substance honestly, but it was okay. The cheese/hummus spread was amazing. For entree we got orange cauliflower and it was good. It felt healthy, you feel good after eating it. For a drink I got the Diablo margarita--if you like a heavy hand of tequila, you'll like this drink. I had to chase my cocktail with my water it was so strong! Ambiance wise, it's decorated very pretty with lots of plants. Their playlist was also a hoot to listen to-- went from heavy metal to classic rock to pop to edm. We chose to sit inside in a very comfortable booth, however they opened their windows to the outside so it kind of defeated the point of eating inside to remain cool. Overall it was a good meal, definitely a bit on the higher end price wise. Not sure if I'd got back, but a decent option for vegan/vegetarian fare in Boulder.

Yelp
This was one of our favorite restaurants, but when they temporary closed down and moved, we lost track of them. Now the new location is much better, I think the menu has only gotten better. We had a great brunch last Sunday, and had a good conversation with the governor.

Yelp
Great food, drinks, service, and atmosphere! It looks and tastes like everything is homemade, and from a local farm (based on website).

Yelp
Leaf is my favorite Boulder restaurant. I am vegan and it not only has the best vegan options in town, but is also approachable for non vegans as well with many delicious options. I come here for work meetings and lunches regularly as well as dinners with friends. Brunch is great too; as are the cocktails. I've tried most of the menu and I'm particularly fond of the mushroom calamari and vegan crab cakes, but you really can't go wrong. The service is friendly and welcoming and the ambiance is pleasant (love the greenery everywhere) so in short this is one of the few places on pearl street I will go to regularly as a local. Thank you to the leaf team for providing such top notch food and service!

Yelp
I was excited to try this place, but the food here was just OK, if not a bit disappointing across the board. The mushroom burger (which has a patty made from quinoa and other ingredients) had a weird artificial butter flavor. Maybe they had sprayed a butter substitute on the brioche bun? Not sure... But in general, the burger was oddly sweet. It also completely fell apart when I attempted to eat it like a burger, so I had to eat it with a fork. The Greek salad was also disappointing--just greens, green olives, and the tiniest bit of feta cheese, with a simple vinaigrette. No red onion or anything to give it more flavor. The service was good, and I did really like the ambience--lots of natural light and ample outdoor seating. I was just disappointed that the food tasted so odd.

Yelp
This vegetarian restaurant is affiliated with a nearby farm (which promises its animals are never used for meat). It's otherwise a very conventional slightly upscale restaurant on the main stretch of Boulder, with indoor and outdoor seating (and clutch electrical outlets at the bar for those of us traveling and needing a charge). The menu looks like a lot of American restaurants, just without the meat. I got an iced chai, which was from the local tea house, which was fine (now I don't have to regret not having ordered it there) and comes with one free refill. It was a relatively mild flavor, but enjoyable. Struggling with choices, I landed on a mushroom walnut burger; I'm not a huge veggie burger person but I've had good experiences with walnuts. It was quite hearty, and though salad was offered I took the fries on the side and was pleased for the option to split between sweet potato and regular potato fries. I'm not a huge sweet potato person, but I actually liked those better. They've added a service charge, as is not uncommon these days (I wish we'd move more towards the price being the price and have less of these games), but at least one could see there were a ton of people working to provide efficient service and beautifully prepared food. Speaking from a traveler's perspective, I think it would be hard to find a vegetarian restaurant this good in a lot of areas.

Yelp
I was visiting my daughter and she wanted to try this newer restaurant on Pearl. We showed up around 8 without reservations on a Friday and we're surprised to immediately be given a table for our party 4. The ambiance was great, upscale, comfortable, plants everywhere, the restaurant was fully open to the street. We ordered the soup of the day, the seaweed salad, the tempeh, the rooibos tea and the hard kombucha as only 2 of us were eating. The bowl of curried cauliflower soup was delicious, the small seaweed salad as well. The tempeh dish was unexpectedly tiny and homogenized into the rice, but still very tasty. The rooibos tea was stand out, the kombucha not so much, but easy to drink and enjoy. Our waiter was amazing. We escaped at $54 so not bad at all. We would definitely return to try something else.

Yelp
Note: I would rate this restaurant 4.5 stars. This restaurant is part of the many restaurants that is located in downtown Boulder. This restaurant caught my attention when I was walking by and decided to try it out. I was feeling healthy and wanted to try a vegetarian restaurant. The place was relatively busy during a weekday lunch time. The staff were all friendly and the ambiance was pretty nice. I thought the menu items were pretty interesting. Even though it was a vegetarian restaurant, the menu wasn't lacking in any means- they pretty much had food items you would expect in a regular restaurant (substituting meat of course). I ordered a Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich with the soup of the day (which was lentil soup). The Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich was tempeh-tofu-wakame cakes, mixed greens, tarter sauce, and brioche. I ordered this sandwich because it seemed like a popular menu item. A lot of Yelpers had it and also there was an option to add vegan crab cake to certain meals- which normally means people ask for it. As well, I was interested to see how much the substitute would match up to the actual meat. Lentil Soup was pretty good. Also, the Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich also tasted really good, but did not taste anything like crab cakes. I was a bit conflicted because this was advertised as the substitute for crab cakes. But did not taste like crab cakes. BUT it tasted really good. You could have said this was a substitute for some other meat and I would have easily been conflicted the exact same amount. I honestly don't know what meat this tasted the most similar to. In my opinion, it should have just been named its own meal instead of being advertised as Vegan Crab Cake. In the end, it's a good restaurant if you want a variety of vegetarian meals. At Leaf, there is a 4% Kitchen & Farmer Living Wage Surcharge added to address the growing wage disparity among restaurant team members.

Yelp
Good vegetarian food with many healthy options and tasty flavors! The menu is an amalgamation of different vegetarian cuisines giving you many options to choose from! Everything we ordered tasted fresh, delicious, and perfect portion sizes! The drinks were refreshing too! We did not enjoy the cheese cake as much though, would pass that. Overall amazing service by the staff and fulfilling lunch!
